  • proper Django ORM syntax to make this code work in MySQL

    - by gtujan
I have the following django code working on an sqlite database but for some unknown reason I get a syntax error if I change the backend to MySQL...does django's ORM treat filtering differently in MySQL? def wsjson(request, imei): wstations = WS.objects.annotate(latest_wslog_date=Max('wslog__date'),latest_wslog_time=Max('wslog__time')) logs = WSLog.objects.filter(date__in=[b.latest_wslog_date for b in wstations],time__in=[b.latest_wslog_time for b in wstations],imei__exact=imei) data = serializers.serialize('json',logs) return HttpResponse(data,'application/javascript') The code basically gets the latest logs from WSlog corresponding to each record in WS and serializes it to json. Models are defined as: class WS(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=20) imei = models.CharField(max_length=15) description = models.TextField() def __unicode__(self): return self.name class WSLog(models.Model): imei = models.CharField(max_length=15) date = models.DateField() time = models.TimeField() data1 = models.DecimalField(max_digits=8,decimal_places=3) data2 = models.DecimalField(max_digits=8,decimal_places=3) WS = models.ForeignKey(WS) def __unicode__(self): return self.imei

  • presentModalViewController NOT animating when showing a TTMessageController

    - by wgpubs
I have a subclass of TTMessageController that shows ... BUT it is not animated even though it should be. The code that displays the modal view looks like this (where PostToWebMessageController is the subclass of TTMessageController: if (self.toWebMsgController == nil) { self.toWebMsgController = [[PostToWebMessageController alloc] init]; } UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] init]; [navController pushViewController:self.toWebMsgController animated:NO]; [self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES]; What happens though is this: The screen goes black ... the keyboard scrolls up into view ... and THEN the TTMessageController view shows up (not animated). When I dismiss the view via a Cancel button the screen goes black and then just disappears (no animation again). Any ideas why this is happening? I've this with a number of other TT* controllers and I can't get one to animate right with showing modally. Thanks

  • django + south + python: strange behavior when using a text string received as a parameter in a func

    - by carlosescri
Hello, this is my first question. I'm trying to execute a SQL query in django (south migration): from django.db import connection # ... class Migration(SchemaMigration): # ... def transform_id_to_pk(self, table): try: db.delete_primary_key(table) except: pass finally: cursor = connection.cursor() # This does not work cursor.execute('SELECT MAX("id") FROM "%s"', [table]) # I don't know if this works. try: minvalue = cursor.fetchone()[0] except: minvalue = 1 seq_name = table + '_id_seq' db.execute('CREATE SEQUENCE "%s" START WITH %s OWNED BY "%s"."id"', [seq_name, minvalue, table]) db.execute('ALTER TABLE "%s" ALTER COLUMN id SET DEFAULT nextval("%s")', [table, seq_name + '::regclass']) db.create_primary_key(table, ['id']) # ... I use this function like this: self.transform_id_to_pk('my_table_name') So it should: Find the biggest existent ID or 0 (it crashes) Create a sequence name Create the sequence Update the ID field to use sequence Update the ID as PK But it crashes and the error says: File "../apps/accounting/migrations/0003_setup_tables.py", line 45, in forwards self.delegation_table_setup(orm) File "../apps/accounting/migrations/0003_setup_tables.py", line 478, in delegation_table_setup self.transform_id_to_pk('accounting_delegation') File "../apps/accounting/migrations/0003_setup_tables.py", line 20, in transform_id_to_pk cursor.execute(u'SELECT MAX("id") FROM "%s"', [table.encode('utf-8')]) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/db/backends/util.py", line 19, in execute return self.cursor.execute(sql, params) psycopg2.ProgrammingError: relation "E'accounting_delegation'" does not exist LINE 1: SELECT MAX("id") FROM "E'accounting_delegation'" ^ I have shortened the file paths for convenience. What does that "E'accounting_delegation'" mean? How could I get rid of it? Thank you! Carlos.

Using Authlogic and Authlogic Facebook Connect. before_filter works great. Get name and facbook_uid saved in db. Only problem is that it saves a new record every time. • NSNotification postNotificationName in AppDelegate but NSNotificationCenter in ViewController?

    - by James Testa
I can't get the selector method, receiveChatText, in the NSNotificationCenter to execute and I am wondering if the problem is because the NSNotification postNotificationName is in AppDelegate.m but NSNotificationCenter is in ViewController.m? I.E. can the postNotificationName know that the NSNotificationCenter is in another viewController file or is that something I need to tell it? In a viewController.m I have -(id)init { self = [super init]; if(self){ [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(receiveChatText:) name:ChatMessageReceived object:nil]; return self; } - (void)receiveChatText:(NSNotification *)note { NSLog(@"received chat text"); } and in the top level AppDelegate.m file I have the following: -(void) didReceiveMessage { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:ChatMessageReceived object:nil userInfo:nil]; } Any ideas what could stop receiveChatText from being executed when didReceiveMessage is called?

  • Broken Multithreading With Core Data

    - by spamguy
This is a better-focused version of an earlier question that touches upon an entirely different subject from before. I am working on a Cocoa Core Data application with multiple threads. There is a Song and Artist; every Song has an Artist relation. There is a delegate code file not cited here; it more or less looks like the template XCode generates. I am far better working with the former technology than the latter, and any multithreading capability came from a Core Data template. When I'm doing all my ManagedObjectContext work in one method, I am fine. When I put fetch-or-insert-then-return-object work into a separate method, the application halts (but does not crash) at the new method's return statement, seen below. The new method even gets its own MOC to be safe, and it has not helped any. The result is one addition to Song and a halt after generating an Artist. I get no errors or exceptions, and I don't know why. I've debugged out the wazoo. My theory is that any errors occurring are in another thread, and the one I'm watching is waiting on something forever. What did I do wrong with getArtistObject: , and how can I fix it? Thanks. - (void)main { NSInteger songCount = 1; NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:[[self delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; /* songDict generated here */ for (id key in songDict) { NSManagedObject *song = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Song" inManagedObjectContext:moc]; [song setValue:[songDictItem objectForKey:@"Name"] forKey:@"title"]; [song setValue:[self getArtistObject:(NSString *) [songDictItem objectForKey:@"Artist"]] forKey:@"artist"]; [songDictItem release]; songCount++; } NSError *error; if (![moc save:&error]) [NSApp presentError:error]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; [moc release], moc = nil; [[self delegate] importDone]; } - (NSManagedObject*) getArtistObject:(NSString*)theArtist { NSError *error = nil; NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:[[self delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[[NSFetchRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; NSEntityDescription *entityDescription = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Artist" inManagedObjectContext:moc]; [fetch setEntity:entityDescription]; // object to be returned NSManagedObject *artistObject = [[NSManagedObject alloc] initWithEntity:entityDescription insertIntoManagedObjectContext:moc]; // set predicate (artist name) NSPredicate *pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"name = \"%@\"", theArtist]]; [fetch setPredicate:pred]; NSArray *response = [moc executeFetchRequest:fetch error:&error]; if (error) [NSApp presentError:error]; if ([response count] == 0) // empty resultset --> no artists with this name { [artistObject setValue:theArtist forKey:@"name"]; NSLog(@"%@ not found. • Setting up relations/mappings for a SQLAlchemy many-to-many database

    - by Brent Ramerth
I'm new to SQLAlchemy and relational databases, and I'm trying to set up a model for an annotated lexicon. I want to support an arbitrary number of key-value annotations for the words which can be added or removed at runtime. Since there will be a lot of repetition in the names of the keys, I don't want to use this solution directly, although the code is similar. My design has word objects and property objects. The words and properties are stored in separate tables with a property_values table that links the two. Here's the code: from sqlalchemy import Column, Integer, String, Table, create_engine from sqlalchemy import MetaData, ForeignKey from sqlalchemy.orm import relation, mapper, sessionmaker from sqlalchemy.ext.declarative import declarative_base engine = create_engine('sqlite:///test.db', echo=True) meta = MetaData(bind=engine) property_values = Table('property_values', meta, Column('word_id', Integer, ForeignKey('words.id')), Column('property_id', Integer, ForeignKey('properties.id')), Column('value', String(20)) ) words = Table('words', meta, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String(20)), Column('freq', Integer) ) properties = Table('properties', meta, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String(20), nullable=False, unique=True) ) meta.create_all() class Word(object): def __init__(self, name, freq=1): self.name = name self.freq = freq class Property(object): def __init__(self, name): self.name = name mapper(Property, properties) Now I'd like to be able to do the following: Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) s = Session() word = Word('foo', 42) word['bar'] = 'yes' # or word.bar = 'yes' ? s.add(word) s.commit() Ideally this should add 1|foo|42 to the words table, add 1|bar to the properties table, and add 1|1|yes to the property_values table. However, I don't have the right mappings and relations in place to make this happen. I get the sense from reading the documentation at http://www.sqlalchemy.org/docs/05/mappers.html#association-pattern that I want to use an association proxy or something of that sort here, but the syntax is unclear to me. I experimented with this: mapper(Word, words, properties={ 'properties': relation(Property, secondary=property_values) }) but this mapper only fills in the foreign key values, and I need to fill in the other value as well. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to use UISwipeGestureRecognizer on UIButton?

I have a UIbutton which i want to work as a joystick. So i am trying to add some gesture recognizer on the same button. • Using Property Builtin with GAE Datastore's Model

    - by ejel
I want to make attributes of GAE Model properties. The reason is for cases like to turn the value into uppercase before storing it. For a plain Python class, I would do something like: Foo(db.Model): def get_attr(self): return self.something def set_attr(self, value): self.something = value.upper() if value != None else None attr = property(get_attr, set_attr) However, GAE Datastore have their own concept of Property class, I looked into the documentation and it seems that I could override get_value_for_datastore(model_instance) to achieve my goal. Nevertheless, I don't know what model_instance is and how to extract the corresponding field from it. Is overriding GAE Property classes the right way to provides getter/setter-like functionality? If so, how to do it? Added: One potential issue of overriding get_value_for_datastore that I think of is it might not get called before the object was put into datastore. Hence getting the attribute before storing the object would yield an incorrect value.

  • UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character [...]

    - by user1461135
I have read the HOWTO on Unicode from the official docs and a full, very detailed article as well. Still I don't get it why it throws me this error. Here is what I attempt: I open an XML file that contains chars out of ASCII range (but inside allowed XML range). I do that with cfg = codecs.open(filename, encoding='utf-8, mode='r') which runs fine. Looking at the string with repr() also shows me a unicode string. Now I go ahead and read that with parseString(cfg.read().encode('utf-8'). Of course, my XML file starts with this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>. Although I suppose it is not relevant, I also defined utf-8 for my python script, but since I am not writing unicode characters directly in it, this should not apply here. Same for the following line: from __future__ import unicode_literals which also is right at the beginning. Next thing I pass the generated Object to my own class where I read tags into variables like this: xmldata.getElementsByTagName(tagName)[0].firstChild.data and assign it to a variable in my class. Now what perfectly works are those commands (obj is an instance of the class): for element in obj: print element And this command does work as well: print obj.__repr__() I defined __iter__() to just yield every variable while __repr__() uses the typical printf stuff: "%s" % self.varname Both commands print perfectly and can output the unicode character. What does not work is this: print obj And now I am stuck because this throws the dreaded UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xfc' in position 47: So what am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I am looking for a general solution, I always want to handle strings as unicode, just to avoid any possible errors and write a compatible program. Edit: I also defined this: def __str__(self): return self.__repr__() def __unicode__(self): return self.__repr__() From documentation I got that this

  • Overriding rubies spaceship operator <=>

  • Django unit testing: South-migrated DB works in MySQL, throws duplicate PK error in PostGreSQL. Am I

    - by unclaimedbaggage
Hi folks, (Worth starting off with a disclaimer: I'm very new to PostGreSQL) I have a django site which involves a standard app/tests.py testing file. If I migrate the DB to MySQL (through South),, the tests all pass. However in PostGresQL, I'm getting the following error: IntegrityError: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "business_contact_pkey" Note this happens while unit testing only - the actual page runs fine in both MySQL & PostGresql. Really having a heckuva time figuring this one out. Anyone have ideas? Below are the Postgresql "\d business_contact" & offending tests.py method if they help. No changes made to either DB except the (same) South migrations Thanks first_name | character varying(200) | not null mobile_phone | character varying(100) | surname | character varying(200) | not null business_id | integer | not null created | timestamp with time zone | not null deleted | boolean | not null default false updated | timestamp with time zone | not null slug | character varying(150) | not null phone | character varying(100) | email | character varying(75) | id | integer | not null default nextval('business_contact_id_seq'::regclass) Indexes: "business_contact_pkey" PRIMARY KEY, btree (id) "business_contact_slug_key" UNIQUE, btree (slug) "business_contact_business_id" btree (business_id) Foreign-key constraints: "business_id_refs_id_772cc1b7b40f4b36" FOREIGN KEY (business_id) REFERENCES business(id) DEFERRABLE INITIALLY DEFERRED Referenced by: TABLE "business" CONSTRAINT "primary_contact_id_refs_id_dfaf59c4041c850" FOREIGN KEY (primary_contact_id) REFERENCES business_contact(id) DEFERRABLE INITIALLY DEFERRED TEST DEF: def test_add_business_contact(self): """ Add a business contact """ contact_slug = 'test-new-contact-added-new-adf' business_id = 1 business = Business.objects.get(id=business_id) postdata = { 'first_name': 'Test', 'surname': 'User', 'business': '1', 'slug': contact_slug, 'email': '[email protected]', 'phone': '12345678', 'mobile_phone': '9823452', 'business': 1, 'business_id': 1, } #Test to ensure contacts that should not exist are not returned contact_not_exists = Contact.objects.filter(slug=contact_slug) self.assertFalse(contact_not_exists) #Add the contact and ensure it is present in the DB afterwards """ contact_add_url = '%s%s/contact/add/' % (settings.BUSINESS_URL, business.slug) self.client.post(contact_add_url, postdata) added_contact = Contact.objects.filter(slug=contact_slug) print added_contact try: self.assertTrue(added_contact) except: formset = ContactForm(postdata) print formset.errors self.assertFalse(True, "Contact not found in the database - most likely, the post values in the test didn't validate against the form")

  • Initializing Detail View from nib with parameters passed from Root View

    - by culov
I'm have a map view with a number of annotations on it... once the callout is clicked, i need to pass several parameters to the DetailViewController, so ive been trying to do this through the constructor. I've debugged a bit and discovered that the arguments are being passed properly and are being received as expected within the constructor, but for some reason whenever I try to change the values of the IBOutlets I've positioned in the nib, it never has an effect. Here's what im passing (btw, im getting a "No initWithNibName : bundle : header' method found" warning at this line): DetailViewController *dvc = [[DetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DetailViewController" bundle:nil header:headerText]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:dvc animated:YES]; Now heres my constructor: - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil header:(UILabel*)headerLabel { if ((self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil])) { self.headerTextView = headerLabel; NSLog(@"header:%@", headerLabel.text); } return self; } Once again, the problem is that headerLabel.text is printed properly in the console, but the line self.headerTextView = headerLabel; doesnt seem to be doing what I want it to do. Thanks!

  • Unable to pass variables from one view to another

    - by jerincbus
I have a detail view that includes three UIButtons, each of which pushes a different view on to the stack. One of the buttons is connected to a MKMapView. When that button is pushed I need to send the latitude and longitude variables from the detail view to the map view. I'm trying to add the string declaration in the IBAction: - (IBAction)goToMapView { MapViewController *mapController = [[MapViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MapViewController" bundle:nil]; mapController.address = self.address; mapController.Title = self.Title; mapController.lat = self.lat; mapController.lng = self.lng; //Push the new view on the stack [[self navigationController] pushViewController:mapController animated:YES]; [mapController release]; mapController = nil; } But I get this when I try to build: 'error: incompatible types in assignment' for both lat and lng variables. So my questions are am I going about passing the variables from one view to another the right way? And does the MKMapView accept latitude and longitude as a string or a number?

  • Django models & Python class attributes

    - by Geo
The tutorial on the django website shows this code for the models: from django.db import models class Poll(models.Model): question = models.CharField(max_length=200) pub_date = models.DateTimeField('date published') class Choice(models.Model): poll = models.ForeignKey(Poll) choice = models.CharField(max_length=200) votes = models.IntegerField() Now, each of those attribute, is a class attribute, right? So, the same attribute should be shared by all instances of the class. A bit later, they present this code: class Poll(models.Model): # ... def __unicode__(self): return self.question class Choice(models.Model): # ... def __unicode__(self): return self.choice How did they turn from class attributes into instance attributes? Did I get class attributes wrong?

  • Why is django.test.client.Client not keeping me logged in.

    - by Mystic
I'm using django.test.client.Client to test whether some text shows up when a user is logged in. However, I the Client object doesn't seem to be keeping me logged in. This test passes if done manually with Firefox but not when done with the Client object. class Test(TestCase): def test_view(self): user.set_password(password) user.save() client = self.client # I thought a more manual way would work, but no luck # client.post('/login', {'username':user.username, 'password':password}) login_successful = client.login(username=user.username, password=password) # this assert passes self.assertTrue(login_successful) response = client.get("/path", follow=True) #whether follow=True or not doesn't seem to work self.assertContains(response, "needle" ) When I print response it returns the login form that is hidden by: {% if not request.user.is_authenticated %} ... form ... {% endif %} This is confirmed when I run ipython manage.py shell. The problem seems to be that the Client object is not keeping the session authenticated.

  • In datastore, confused on how to pass a list of key_names as an argument to somemodel.get_or_insert(

Are there examples of how to pass a list of key_names to Model.get_or_insert() ? My Problem: With a method of ParentLayer I want to make the children. This is how I create my button: UIImage *moveButtonImage = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"button_move_inactive" ofType:@"png"] ]; UIImage *moveButtonSelectedImage = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"button_move_pressed" ofType:@"png"] ]; self.moveButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [self.moveButton setImage : moveButtonImage forState : UIControlStateNormal]; [self.moveButton setImage : moveButtonSelectedImage forState : UIControlStateSelected]; [self.moveButton setTitle:@"Test" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; The button title never displays in this case and I'm forced to create my own label to display on the button, which seems like a hacky way of doing things. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here?

I can use this verb in the Python Windows SDK. But not in production. Why? What am I doing wrong? The error message includes (only seen via firebug or fiddler) Malformed request or something like that My code looks like: from google.appengine.ext import db from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Handler(webapp.RequestHandler): def delete(self): key = self.request.get('key') item = db.get(key) item.delete() self.response.out.write(key)
