• Apache / PHP Begins to Deny SQL Requests after about 2000

  We have a web page on our server that we use to run administrative scripts. For example, we might run the script "unenrolStudents()" which runs 5,000 SQL SET commands one after another and sets 5000 student entries in an SQL database to unenrolled. However, we are finding that after running a few thousand queries (it is not totally consistent) we will be "locked out" by our server. SYMPTOMS OF LOCKING OUT: - unable to connect to server with winSCP - opening putty with that connection shows a blank screen (no login / pass) - clearing cookies / cache in chrome does NOT fix locking out - other computers in the office ALSO become locked out - locking out can be triggered with a high frequency of requests (10000 in 1 second) or by less over time (10000 in 500 seconds - this will still cause a lockout even though the frequency is much less) We believe this is a security feature of our own Apache. I know we are using Suhosin but I didn't configure it so I don't know. How can I disable this locking effect so that I can confidently run all my SQL requests and they will go through? Has anyone else dealt with this and found workarounds? Thanks DS

• Almost 2013 - Any decent options for mp3 to text? (Speech Recognition)

  I know there's some questions here on s/u regarding converting spoken word mp3 to text, however, most are pretty old (2010 and earlier). I'm just wondering if there's any new legitimate options for this task - if google has shown us anything, speech recognition has come a long way. Personally, I'd prefer a linux based solution, but I'm not picky. I've heard a lot about something called Sphinx, but I tried to set it up and get it going but I couldn't. I know there's a number of different componenents for Sphinx so maybe I was doing it wrong? Either way, are there any new applications for Speech recognition, especially from MP3 files? Thanks!

  Hello, i just figured out that the mail() function isn't working i'm under Debian, i installed postfix because a friend told me to (although i didn't configure it). When i do a phpinfo() i've got : sendmail_path /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i but in this directories i don't have anything like sendmail Do you have an idea, on what i should do to get mail() working ?   I'm currently set up with a CentOS box that utilizes mcrypt to encrypt/decrypt data to/from the database. In my haste, I forgot that I also need a solution to encrypt files (primarily pdf, with a xls and txt file here and there). Is there a way to utilize mcrypt to encrypt uploaded pdf files? I understand the possibility of file_get_contents() with txt; is a similar solution available for other formats? Thanks!

• Overriding vhost.conf to always allow PHP include access to directory

  My predecessor in my job developed a simplistic newsletter system for our school's newspaper utilizing PEAR's Mail package. As I grow this system (and our site) we are constantly stuck with Plesk rewriting the vhost.conf file in which the PEAR include path has been manually entered. This has become an unwieldy task to actually manage and keep running. There's been a "note" from both the previous developer and I to attempt to solve this problem, but we can't entirely figure it out. I'm attempting a move to cPanel through another host, so hopefully it'll go away there, but until then, it can be tedious extremely difficult to get a solid uptake of the system without constant "web-presence." I've searched around and haven't found a solution. I'm rather new to the server management scene (command line was non-existant till around a year ago. =/), so I haven't found anything. Any help would be useful. "Similar Questions" popped this up, but it still seems to rely on vhost.conf, and will still allow changes within Plesk to overwrite the changes.

Then PHP 5.3.3 (VC9 x86 Thread Safe) zip file was downloaded and extracted on “C:\php” location.   I am sending email using mail() under PHP5 on Dreamhost (which I believe uses the local sendmail or other MTA) ... bounces are coming back to the sending shell user, instead of to the user in the From:/Reply-To: header. Any ideas?

  Why this: rsync -avz -e ssh /home/userneme/folder [email protected]:/var/www/folder works from cronjob and this: exec("rsync -avz -e ssh /home/userneme/folder [email protected]:/var/www/folder"); doesn't work. I know exec is working because i have a few places in my appp that do convercion from pdf to jpg with ImageMagick (exec). SOLVED exec is working OK it was a permission issue on remote server. "Local" server is shared reseller account and remote server is my first VPS Ubuntu 10.10 LAMP box. If only I had a system administrator since i'm just a software developer forced to do this and i stink at it :) Thank You all!

• Why is my apache2, mod_fcgid, php configuration causing 100% cpu usage?

  Page load makes a quick initial connection, then hangs about 10 seconds before the page renders. When the server load goes up I start watching top & I see that both CPUs get pegged at times to 100% by between 4-8 processes of php-cgi. My theory is that since I never see RAM usage never go above 50%, that apache is able to handle the requests coming in, but is queueing them for PHP to process. What is wrong with my mod_fcgid/php configuration ? • Switching PHP to FastCGI from mod_php broke AMFPHP

  Hi, i've just switched my debian server from mod_php to fastcgi following this tutorial everything goes right but now i've found that one of the hosted application that using AMFPHP for flash remoting is broken. I'm trying to understand what's happend. Looking at it with FireBug and FireAMF it seems that the responses has a content but the Flash callbacks never get called and if i try to open the service browser it displays this error: (mx.rpc::Fault)#0 errorID = 0 faultCode = "Client.Error.RequestTimeout" faultDetail = "The request timeout for the sent message was reached without receiving a response from the server." faultString = "Request timed out" message = "faultCode:Client.Error.RequestTimeout faultString:'Request timed out' faultDetail:'The request timeout for the sent message was reached without receiving a response from the server.'" name = "Error" rootCause = (null) It's strange it seems that the server takes a long time to responde, then (in the service browser) flash made a new call to the server and the old one get a response. • Unable to print A6 on Canon LBP 2900B php

  I am working on web application. In which I have to print an invoice on A6 paper. To better control priniting I used TCPDF. In TCPDF options I have setup it to print A6. Now my TCPDF is working fine. But there is problem in printing it on Canon LBP2900B. As there is no option available to print A6 page. When I try to print on it. It used A4 paper to print it. I have also checked Custom options in Canon. But unable to figure out how to print it using Canon printer.

• PHP / Drupal equivalent of .bat file [closed]

  I am new to Drupal and have just started in Drupal 7. I have a very simple .bat file that calls a .txt file to open a ftp connection, get a file off the ftp server and place it on my desktop. Now that I know that works.. (YAY!) I need to figure out how to have it done with a cron job in Drupal, save it somewhere so that I can unzip it somehow and then populate a table in the database with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
