  • Image hotlinking providers?

    I use a lot of images in my wordpress and due to hosting restrictions I need to host the images somewhere else and hotlink them in my blog posts. So I am looking for some reliable image host which provides free hotlinking service. The Google Picasa would be best, but I think they do not allow hotlinking. PS. I'm not looking for hosts like tinypic or imgshack, I'm looking for some websites which provides powerful features to oranize images (eg. albums etc).

    Hi, I need to change this so that one file in wp-admin is not forced through https: # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^.*/wp-admin$ RewriteRule ^(.+)$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1/ [R=301,L] This forces all requests to /wp-admin through SSL but it is breaking a wordpress plugin which needs to access wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. Is there a way to adjust the rule so that it will allow non encrypted requests to that one file? thanks!

Pretty interesting I thought. So the start screen is basically a shortcuts screen on steroids, much nicer looking and with tile notifications.

But when I think of web frameworks(I do mostly PHP) - like Cake, CI, Symfony, Laravel, Zend, Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, Rails, Django, etc - I'm like god no. Why aren't there web frameworks that provide me with simple, fun and powerful constructs like a programming language?

Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources:" How do I specify expirations for those things? The page it itself is getting generated dynamically and do not have a predefined template for it all i know about its URL which is pre-defined and will remain unchanged.     Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Macbook 4.1 and just after installing the isight firmware by following the instructions here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleiSight everything was working fine. I got AppleUSBVideoSupport from here http://turanct.wordpress.com/2010/06/ But afterwards I installed a bunch of updates (around 300) and after rebooting Isight isn't working anymore. I redid what is on that website above, I added the ppa sources and upgraded but no luck :( Can anyone help!?! I really need to use the webcam as my dears are abroad. Thanks a zillion

    I added a FB Like button to my Wordpress template, and when I click Like, I receive an error, which pops up and says: There was an error liking the page. If you are the page owner, please try running your page through the linter on the Facebook devsite (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/lint/) and fixing any errors. The Lint Checker (now) gives no Error or Warnings, after I removed a duplicate og:description tag. Why is it not working?

    I am working on a simple Wordpress blog where when an article is published, it appears on ALL these pages: Homepage - Headline(clickable) + 3-line summary Parent category page - Headline(clickable) + 3-line summary Child category page - Headline(clickable) + 3-line summary Author page - Headline(clickable) sitemap.xml I've been told that I should add all author pages to my robots.txt, under disallow, so as search engine bots do not spider /author/* since all links on these pages are available elsewhere. Is this a good approach or maybe rel=nofollow is better, or maybe I shouldn't worry about this at all?

  • Help writing server script to ban IP's from a list

    I have a VPS that I use as an openvpn and web server. For some reason, my apache log files are filled with thousands of these hack attempts: "POST /xmlrpc.php HTTP/1.0" 404 395 These attack attempts fill up 90% of my logs. I think it's a WordPress vulnerability they're looking for. Obviously they are not successful (I don't even have Wordpress on my server), but it's annoying and probably resource consuming as well. I am trying to write a bash script that will do the following: Search the apache logs and grab the offending IP's (even if they try it once), Sort them into a list with each unique IP on a seperate line, And then block them using the IP table rules. I am a bash newb, and so far my script does everything except Step 3. I can manually block the IP's, but that's tedious and besides, this is Linux and it's perfectly capable of doing it for me. I also want the script to be customizable so that I (or anyone else who wants to use it) can change the variables to suit whatever situation I/they may deal with in the future. Here is the script so far: #!/bin/bash ##IP LIST GENERATOR ##Author Chev Young ##Script to search Apache logs and list IP's based on custom filters ## ##Define our variables: DIRECT=~/Script ##Location of script&where to put results/temp files LOGFILE=/var/log/apache2/access.log ## Logfile to search for offenders TEMPLIST=xml_temp ## Temporary file name IP_LIST=ipstoban ## Name of results file FILTER1=xmlrpc ## What are we looking for? I don't care if it utilizes UFW or IPTables directly, as long as it bans the IP's. I'd probably run it as a cron task. What I'm having trouble with is understanding how to use line of the result file as a seperate variable to do something like: ufw deny $IP1 $IP2 $IP3, ect Any ideas? Thanks.

Let's say the profile includes height, weight, sex, eye color, etc.. I've really only used wordpress before, but I'm sure something else would cater to this better. For some reason Webmaster tools is crawling my website and showing a lot of 404 errors which are from "/_" like additional pages that's i've never created.     I have 3 rotating banners on one 728x90 position on my website, so every time a page is loaded another banner is shown. One of these is AdSense. Is it legal, I mean is this strictly prohibited or not? Because, the code is basically stored in db table in my CMS module in Wordpress, so I guess it is OK. But I am asking to be sure. What is your personal experience? Does Google penalize sites with banner rotators?
