  I'm using a twitter gem which basically accesses twitter and lets me grab tweets, timeline etc. Its really good but I have a lot of my code that uses the stuff it returns and I need to test it. The things the gem returns aren't exactly simple strings, there pretty complex objects (scary as well) so im left scratching my head. So basically I'm looking for an answer, book, blog, open-source project that can show me the rights and wrongs of testing around external services. answers that are either not language centric or ruby/rails centric would most greatly be appreciated.

• Eclipse Search Only Specific Folders

  Hello, I already saw the answers for a question almost identical to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/443169/eclipse-exclude-folders-from-search. However I am looking for a resolution that would allow me to say look at 10 of my 200 folders and those 10 change all the time. Is there a way I can search through just 1 folder and avoid any other folders that are not inside it? I don't want to create a different project as I am using SVN and I have had cases with mxml files and other files that adding a file that we moved from one project to another caused problems for other developers.

• Get user-inputed file name from JFileChooser Save dialog box

  This answer to this question may seem obvious, but I'm actually struggling with it quite a bit. I've searched through JFileChooser methods in the API, and I've looked at some of the questions already asked and answered here on stackoverflow. My question is this. In my program, I am to allow the user to type in a file name which I will then use to create a brand new file that I will write on. How do you get the text the user has entered in the textfield next to the label "Save As:" on the Save dialog box provided by JFileChooser? Is there a JFileChooser method that would allow me to get that user-inputed text? Or would I have to go through another class, or do something else to get that text? Thank you so much, to anyone who answers. It's very late for me now, and this program is due in a few hours (meaning I'll be having another sleepless night). Desperate may be too strong a word, but I'm something close enough.

• How to format a money value from an ISOCurrencySymbol in C#

  I have created a Money class to save money values in different currencies. The class uses 3 letter ISO symbols to store currency types: public class Money { public decimal Amount { get; set; } public string Currency { get; set; } } Is there a way in C# to use this information, say 100.00 USD, and format it as "$100.00"? Only way I know of requires CultureInfo like this: Amount.ToString("C", CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("en-US")); However this does not work with my Money class. Is there another solution? I am open to changing my Money class. I have searched this site for similar questions (such as this), but couldn't find one that answers the above question.

It works on SQL Server 2005 and above. For earlier version of SQL Server the solution provided by miies can be used. For working with text data type wcm answer will be helpful. Thanks again.

  Basically, imagine you need to automate these steps: Open Internet Information Services. Find the web site, find the folder, right click the folder and select properties. Click the Directory folder. Under Applications settings, click the Create button. The application is now created. Click OK to finish. (click for a pictoral walkthru) My end goal is Powershell, but answers that use JScript or VB.NET or whatever are fine too. Bonus points if the same code works against an IIS7 application running in 6.0 Compatibility Mode.

  So my whole problem is that I have two files one with following format(for Python 2.6): #comments config = { #comments 'name': 'hello', 'see?': 'world':'ABC',CLASS=3 } This file has number of sections like this. Second file has format: [23] [config] 'name'='abc' 'see?'= [23] Now the requirement is that I need to compare both files and generate file as: #comments config = { #comments 'name': 'abc', 'see?': 'world':'ABC',CLASS=3 } So the result file will contain the values from the first file, unless the value for same attribute is there in second file, which will overwrite the value. Now my problem is how to manipulate these files using Python. Thanks in advance and for your previous answers in short time ,I need to use python 2.6

• Empty list in appengine datastore: java vs python

  I have the following java model class in AppEngine: public class Xyz ... { @Persistent private Set<Long> uvw; } When saving an object Xyz with an empty set uvw in Java, I get a "null" field (as listed in the appengine datastore viewer). When I try to load the same object in python (through remote_api), as defined by the following python model class: class Xys(db.Model): uvw = db.ListProperty(int) I get a "BadValueError: Property uvw is required". When saving another object of the same class in python with an empty uvw list, the datastore viewer print a "missing" field. Apparently empty lists storage handling differs between Java and python and lead to "incompatible" objects. Thus my question: Is there a way to, either: force Java to store an empty list as a "missing" field, force Python to gracefully accept a "null" list as an empty list when loading the object? Or any other suggestion on how to handle empty list field in both languages. Thanks for your answers!

  I've tried checking other answers, but I'm still confused--especially after seeing W3schools HTML 5 reference. I thought HTML 4.01 was supposed to "allow" single-tags to just be <img> and <br>. Then XHTML came along with <img /> and <br /> (where someone said that the space is there for older browsers). Now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to format my code when practicing HTML 5. <!DOCTYPE HTML> Is it <br>, <br/> or <br />?

• Customized sorting on DataTable in C#?

  This is a C# Winform question. I have a DataGridView which is bounded to a DataTable. I construct the DataTable myself, which several DataColumn instances. When the DataTable is bound to the DataGridView, by default, every column is sortable by clicking the headers of the DataGridView. But the sorting behavior is something "by default". It seems that it is sorted by string. This is true even if I put this as my code: DataColumn dc = new DataColumn("MyObjectColumn", typeof(MyObject)); And MyObject has overriden ToString() and has implemented the IComparable interface. That means even if I have told the DataTable how to sort the special column with the implementation of IComparable interface, DataGridView still doesn't do it the way I expect. So how can I let DataTable sort data in the way I want? Thanks for the answers.

  What are accepted methods to reduce iPhone application piracy, which do not violate Apple's evaluation process? If my application "phones home" to provide the unique device ID on which it runs, what other information would I need to collect (e.g., the Apple ID used to purchase the application) to create a valid registration token that authorizes use of the application? Likewise, what code would I use to access that extra data? What seem to be the best available technical approaches to this problem, at the present time? Of course I could do: <img src='<?php echo $full_path; ?>/images/theImg.jpg' alt='alternative text' /> But somewhere I saw people doing it like this, or something: <img src='{full_path}/images/theImg.jpg' /> Now do you know how the second example is possible, or is it just part of some framework and can't be used in normal document?   I read some of the answers on here re: testing views and controllers, and mocking, but I still can't figure out how to test an ASP.NET MVC controller that reads and sets Session values (or any other context based variables.) How do I provide a (Session) context for my test methods? Is mocking the answer? Anybody have examples? Basically, I'd like to fake a session before I call the controller method and have the controller use that session. Any ideas?

  I have similar question, maybe you can help. Is it possible to get list of all process which are running in the Android system, and kill some of them? I know that there are some applications (task managers), but I would like to write my own, simple application. I would like to write simple task manager, just list of all process and button which will kill some of them. • NFOP performance problem

  We're using NFOP in a project (C#, ASP.NET 2.0) to ultimately return PDF files to the user. The process currently goes like this: Stored Procedure - XML XML - XSLT - XSL-FO XSL-FO - NFOP - PDF This works fine, the PDF is generated BEAUTIFULLY. The problem is that it takes 300+ seconds to do it. The ANTS profiler indicates that the problem is sitting in the driver.run() method inside of NFOP. It's not like this is a gargantuan amount of data, the size of the xsl-fo source going into the nfop driver object is ~980k. What's the most likely source and resolution of this problem? ANY hints or tips or answers are most appreciated, we were supposed to head to VA scan at 11 am. :|

• Applet in different directory than .html page

  Hello all, I'm trying to use a different directory to contain the applets and other directory with .html pages. Both are in the same level, that is, none is a sub-directory of the other. For that I was trying to use the parameter codebase, however, no matter what I put in codebase value (relative, absolute path) I always get a class not found error. I googled and found some people with the same problem, but no answers:( Does anybody knows how to accomplish this? I'm using JRE 1.6_20. Cheers, Jorge

I don't want to download this dll from anywhere as I'm not sure if I can trust it. However it also says: "After research on the web I found that I have to create new AxMSTSCLib and MSTSCLib DLLs. So I did" How do I "create" this new AxMSTSCLib ? Other link, doesn't use this dll but run an script instead. http://bytes.com/topic/c-sharp/answers/517024-remote-desktop-connection-c but that code throws Security Exception. So I cannot use it.

  in these i'm playing with thread library and trying to implement some functions. One of the tutorial says that to run the program use : gcc -lpthread -lrt -lc -lm project1.c scheduler.c -o out first of all i need deep understanding of what is gcc doing in each line, lpthread is used for what? what are the contributions of lrt -lc -lm ? project1.c and scheduler.c is compiled together so what should i understand? i checked the code and any of them not included in project1.c or scheduler.c. as an output clearly it gives "out". secondly the author states that to run the program you have to use ./out number filename (For example, ./out 2 sample.txt) To make these clear as far as i understand the main function gets number and sample.txt as an input.(?) thanks for your answers and making me clear.

  I know it is offtopic and I will delete my question as soon as I get any answer, but somebody deleted my question. The question was opened for the whole day, but when I got 3 reopens and edited my question for asking for 2 more reopens to reopen my question, somebody deleted my question. It was about efficiency during the programming. Why somebody deleted my question and didn't let to be it closed? I found there many good answers although it was closed and now I can see absolutely nothing so I suppose it was deleted. Can somebody tell me smth?

  I wrote an app targeting a particular clientele. A software company with a reputation among my target audience is willing to negotiate a price to either license or buy it. As a newcomer to the app store, I am not sure that I will successfully market it myself. What would be appropriate terms of a sale or license and what about pricing? I am looking for answers that draw from personal experience with software, although not necessarily apps. In another example, I've seen another form: http = new Http http(/* argument here */) Is this valid Scala? I guess it must be, because the author is a Scala expert. But it makes no sense to me. Actions are usually performed by invoking methods on objects, whether explicitly as object.doSomething() or implicitly as object = something (using the apply() method underneath the syntactic sugar). All I can think of is that a constructor is being used to do something in addition to constructing an object. In other words, it is having side effects, such as in this case going off and doing something on the web.

  One of my interview Questions, if multiple users across the world are accessing the application, in which it uses a Table which has a Primary Key as Auto Increment Field. The Question how can you prevent the other user getting the Same Primary key when the other user is executing? My answer was I will obtain the Lock on the table and I will make the user to wait Until that user is released with the Primary key. But the Question How do you acquire the Table lock programmatically and implement this? If there are 1000 users coming every minute to the application, if you explicity hold the lock on the table, then the application will become slower? How do you manage this? Please suggest the possible answers for the above question
