  • How to Unit Test HtmlHelper with Moq?

    - by DaveDev
Could somebody show me how you would go about creating a mock HTML Helper with Moq? This article has a link to an article claiming to describe this, but following the link only returns an ASP.NET Runtime Error [edit] I asked a more specific question related to the same subject here, but it hasn't gotten any responses. I figured it was too specific, so I thought I could get a more general answer to a more general question and modify it to meet my requirements. Thanks

  • Serving east/west coasts with Geoipdns and MaxMind GeoLite data

    - by netvope
I want to serve east (west) coast visitors with my Virginia (California) server. To do so, I plan to use Geoipdns and the IP-to-location mappings from MaxMind. MaxMind provide two datasets for free: GeoLite Country and GeoLite City. However, neither of them has east/west coast regions defined. A possible solution is to write a script to combine all the IP ranges for the east/west coast cities in GeoLite City, but that sounds a little bit stupid. What is the best practice in doing this? Any suggestions or alternatives?

  • TryUpdateModel is not working for new Record on ASP.NET MVC Page?

    - by Rita
Hi I have a customer Registartion page using ASP.NET MVC with fields like FirstName, LastName, Address from AddressDetail Table. When i create a new object for CustomerMaster and trying to update the fields using TryUpdateModel, it is not updating. But the TryUpdateModel is working fine on the Edit Profile Page and that particular record is referenced. CODE on Registartion Page: AddressDetail add = new AddressDetail(); bool status = TryUpdateModel<AddressDetail>(add, "addr", new[] { "FirstName", "LastName", "Address_1", "Address_2", "ZipCode", "City", "Phone", "Fax" }, formData); CODE on Edit Profile Page: AddressDetail addr = (from a in miEntity.AddressDetail where a.AD_Id == 20 select a).First(); bool rc = TryUpdateModel<AddressDetail>(addr, "addr", new[] { "FirstName", "LastName", "Address_1", "Address_2", "ZipCode", "City", "Phone", "Fax" }, formData); Does anybody run into same issue with TryUpdateModel? Doesn't it update the Model for New Record? Thanks

  • Inheritance with POCO entities in Entity Framework 4

    - by Juvaly
    Hi All, I have a Consumer class and a BillableConsumer : Consumer class. When trying to do any operation on my "Consumers" set, I get the error message "Object mapping could not be found for Type with identity Models.BillableConsumer. From the CSDL: <EntityType Name="BillableConsumer" BaseType="Models.Consumer"> <Property Type="String" Name="CardExpiratoin" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="CardNumber" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="City" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="Country" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="CVV" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="NameOnCard" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="PostalCode" Nullable="false" /> <Property Type="String" Name="State" /> <Property Type="String" Name="StreetAddress" Nullable="false" /> </EntityType> From the C-S: <EntitySetMapping Name="Consumers"> <EntityTypeMapping TypeName="IsTypeOf(Models.Consumer)"> <MappingFragment StoreEntitySet="consumer"> <ScalarProperty Name="LoginID" ColumnName="LoginID" /> <ScalarProperty Name="FirstName" ColumnName="FirstName" /> <ScalarProperty Name="LastName" ColumnName="LastName" /> </MappingFragment> </EntityTypeMapping> <EntityTypeMapping TypeName="IsTypeOf(Models.BillableConsumer)"> <MappingFragment StoreEntitySet="billinginformation"> <ScalarProperty Name="CardExpiratoin" ColumnName="CardExpiratoin" /> <ScalarProperty Name="CardNumber" ColumnName="CardNumber" /> <ScalarProperty Name="City" ColumnName="City" /> <ScalarProperty Name="Country" ColumnName="Country" /> <ScalarProperty Name="CVV" ColumnName="CVV" /> <ScalarProperty Name="LoginID" ColumnName="LoginID" /> <ScalarProperty Name="NameOnCard" ColumnName="NameOnCard" /> <ScalarProperty Name="PostalCode" ColumnName="PostalCode" /> <ScalarProperty Name="State" ColumnName="State" /> <ScalarProperty Name="StreetAddress" ColumnName="StreetAddress" /> </MappingFragment> </EntityTypeMapping> </EntitySetMapping> Is this because I did not specifically add the BillableConsumer entity to the object set? How do I do that in a POCO scenario? Thanks! UPDATE: I decided to test whether or not POCOs generated with the T4 template would solve the problem and they did. The most annoying part is that when I restored my original classes from SVN to try and figure out how they are different - they worked as well!! Not adding this as an answer because someone else might have an actual explanation...

  • Does functional programming mandate new naming conventions?

    - by Jakob
I recently started studying functional programming using Haskell and came upon this article on the official Haskell wiki: How to read Haskell. The article claims that short variable names such as x, xs, and f are fitting for Haskell code, because of conciseness and abstraction. In essence, it claims that functional programming is such a distinct paradigm that the naming conventions from other paradigms don't apply. What are your thoughts on this?

  • Print.css issue in Webkit

    - by Andrew
The page in question is featured here: http://www.allwebcafe.com/news/news-article.php?id=78 For some reason, when a user attempts to print any article of this type from a Webkit-based browser (I've confirmed this in both Safari and Chrome), the pages are all blank. On the flip side, everything behaves as expected in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Thoughts?

  • Finding the Geo-location on a Blackberry?

    - by Frederico
I'm running into an issue when trying to geolocate users whom are using blackberry devices. Currently there are a few checks that I go through to geolocate the individual the first, using the navigator paramater inside browsers. if(navigator.geolocation) if this fails then I have a backup using a free service (for testing) from maxmind: See Here Yet this doesn't return back the city at all either. I've then tried using the JSPI that google maps proviedes, and echoing out the google.loader.ClientLocation: if (google.loader.ClientLocation != null) { document.write("Your Location Is: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.address.city + ", " + google.loader.ClientLocation.address.region + " lat: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.latitude + " Long: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.longitude); } else { document.write("Your Location Was Not Detected By Google Loader"); } When this didn't work I tried following the google maps 3.0 detect location seen here: Detecting Location I've done all this after seeing this work correctly in google latitude.. so I know there has to be a way to get the location... any thoughts, ideas on what I could possibly try? Thank you kindly

  • A detail question when applying genetic algorithm to traveling salesman

    - by burrough
I read various stuff on this and understand the principle and concepts involved, however, none of paper mentions the details of how to calculate the fitness of a chromosome (which represents a route) involving adjacent cities (in the chromosome) that are not directly connected by an edge (in the graph). For example, given a chromosome 1|3|2|8|4|5|6|7, in which each gene represents the index of a city on the graph/map, how do we calculate its fitness (i.e. the total sum of distances traveled) if, say, there is no direct edge/link between city 2 and 8. Do we follow some sort of greedy algorithm to work out a route between 2 and 8, and add the distance of this route to the total? This problem seems pretty common when applying GA to TSP. Anyone who's done it before please share your experience. Thanks.

  • android: two issues using Tablerow+TextView in Tablelayout

    - by Yang
    I am using Tablerow+TextView to make a simple view for blog posts and their replies. In each TableRow I put a TextView in. Now I have two issues: The text which is longer than the screen won't automatically wrap up to be multi-line. Is it by design of TableRow? I've already set tr_content.setSingleLine(false); [update] This has been addressed, I think I should change Fill_parent to be Wrap_content in textView.tr_author_time.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams( LayoutParams.**WRAP_CONTENT**, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); The Table won't scroll like ListView. My rows are more than the screen size. I expect the table could be scrolled down for viewing just like ListView. Is that possible? Here is my code: TableLayout tl = (TableLayout) findViewById(R.id.article_content_table); TextView tr_title = new TextView(this); TextView tr_author_time = new TextView(this); TextView tr_content = new TextView(this); TableRow tr = new TableRow(this); for(int i = 0; i < BlogPost.size(); i++){ try{ // add the author, time tr = new TableRow(this); /////////////////add author+time row BlogPost article = mBlogPost.get(i); tr_author_time = new TextView(this); tr_author_time.setText(article.author+"("+ article.post_time+")"); tr_author_time.setTextColor(getResources().getColor(R.color.black)); tr_author_time.setGravity(0x03); tr_author_time.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams( LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); tr.addView(tr_author_time); tl.addView(tr,new TableLayout.LayoutParams( LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); ////////////////////// then add content row tr = new TableRow(this); tr_content = new TextView(this); tr_content.setText(article.content); tr_content.setSingleLine(false); tr_content.setGravity(0x03); tr_content.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams( LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); tr.addView(tr_content); tr.setBackgroundResource(R.color.white); tl.addView(tr,new TableLayout.LayoutParams( LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); }

  • Display issue with jQuery dialog: form shows as separate window

    - by RememberME
    On my button click, the jQuery dialog appears with just the title and buttons. When you mouseover, then you see the form inputs in front of the dialog covering the buttons. When you scroll down, the form inputs do not move, so you can never see the last few textboxes. <div id="popupCreateCompany" title="Create a new company"> <form> <fieldset> <p> <label for="company_name">Company Name:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("company_name") %> </p> <p> <label for="company_desc">Company Description:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("company_desc") %> </p> <p> <label for="address">Address:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("address") %> </p> <p> <label for="city">City:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("city") %> </p> <p> <label for="state">State:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("state") %> </p> <p> <label for="zip">Zip:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("zip") %> </p> <p> <label for="website">Website:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("website") %> </p> </fieldset> </form> </div> jQuery: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('input').filter('.datepick').datepicker(); $('#popupCreateCompany').dialog( { autoOpen: false, modal: true, buttons: { 'Add': function() { var dialog = $(this); var form = dialog.find('input:text'); $.post('/company/create', $(form).serialize(), function() { dialog.dialog('close'); }) }, 'Cancel': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); $("#create-company").click(function() { $('#popupCreateCompany').dialog('open'); }); On mouseover: After scroll down:

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 Dynamic QueryString Management

    - by vikas anand
Hello All, I am very new to ASP.NET MVC and currently, I am involved in developing a new application in ASP.NET MVC 2. I am having problem in managing a long querystring parameters that comes from dBase. For example, in any non-mvc app the following URL works well: http ://example.com/test.aspx?first_name=fname&last_name=lname&email_id=email&address1=add1&address2=add2&city=city&state=state&zip_code=zip and so on. The QueryString parameter can be determined on the fly (i.e. at run-time). Now for dynamic QueryString how routing will be done? Also for a simple URL, the URL will be as follows (in ASP.NET MVC): http ://example.com/test/id/category But for above mentioned dynamic & long QueryString how the URL will look like? Will all the QueryString parameters be separated through slash (/)? Thanks in advance for your help. Best Regards, Vikas Anand

  • jQuery autocomplete pass null paramter to the controller in ASP.NET MVC 2

    - by myaesubi
I'm using jQuery autocomplete plugin from jQuery website calling the controller url which return json in return. The problem is the parameter sent to the controller is always null. Here is the in-browser jQuery code for the autocomplete: $(document).ready(function() { var url = "/Building/GetMatchedCities"; $("#City").autocomplete(url); }); and here is the ASPNET MVC controller signature in C#: public JsonResult GetMatchedCities(string city) { .. return this.Json(query, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } Thanks in advance, Mohammad

Any recommandation or article suggestion will be appreciated. Note: I read this article by Martin Fowler.

  • Microsoft equivalent of Eclipse RCP

    - by Bermo
I have heard positive things about Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) - does Microsoft has similar plugin UI framework available? I found an article from the Eclipse.org marketing director where he states: "An organization that is 100% Microsoft probably won't/shouldn't consider Eclipse RCP." A colleague pointed out that this article was posted in 2005, so i was wondering if Microsoft has a competing product by now, and if not, why not?

  • Effects of changing a node in a binary tree

    - by eSKay
Suppose I want to change the orange node in the following tree. So, the only other change I'll need to make is in the left pointer of the green node. The blue node will remain the same. Am I wrong somewhere? Because according to this article (that explains zippers), even the blue node needs to be changed. Similarly, in this picture (recolored) from the same article, why do we change the orange nodes at all (when we change x)?
