  I am studying about regex, i figured out some about matching one or more character, but i have a case, but don't know how to solve this.. For example i have: $data = "bla bla -start- blu blu blu -end- bla bla"; $pattern = "/\-start\-[\w]\-end\- /"; preg_match($pattern, $data, $matches); print_r($matches); i intend to take anything between '-start-' and '-end-', so i expect to get ' blu blu blu '. any suggestion ?

  I'd like to censor some words in a string by replacing each character in the word with a "*". Basically I would want to do String s = "lorem ipsum dolor sit"; s = s.replaceAll("ipsum|sit", $0.length() number of *)); so that the resulting s equals "lorem ***** dolor ***". I know how to do this with repeated replaceAll invokations, but I'm wondering, is this possible to do with a single replaceAll?

  When getopt or getopt_long encounters an illegal option, it stores the offending option character in optopt. When the illegal option is a long option, where can I find out what the option was? And does anything meaningful get stored in optopt then? I've set opterr = 0 to suppress the automatically printed error message. I want to create my own message that I can print or log where I'd like, but I want to include the name of the unrecognized option.

I want to be able to paste a complete code in the first textbox and have it automatically populate all the textboxes. Is there a way to do this in javascript or a jquery library for this case? Currently I'm using jQuery autotab on each textbox and I'd prefer to keep that functionality.

• C converts HEX value from emacs into the incorrect value

  I'm currently using regular expressions to search through RSS feeds to find if certain words and phrases are mentioned, and would then like to extract the text on either side of the match as well.
