  I am attempting to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer. I would like to dual boot Ubuntu on this computer if possible. I did try placing this disk in my laptop and booted successfully which leads me to believe the fault lies with the desktop. Under windows all hardware seems to work ok. Any ideas?

  Can I get my Nexus One/Android on my local network over USB instead of WiFi and browse to my computer's IP address, the one to which the phone would be connected to, via USB? For instance, let's say my computer has an IP address 100.1.1.1 and when I go to it from the computer I would go to my localhost and see a website I've set up locally in the computer. Then, I connect my phone to that computer via USB. Can I then go to 100.1.1.1 from the browser and see the same website? All this through the USB, no WiFi?

• Keep IMAP messages locally when deleted remotely

  I use my email from my phone and my computer via IMAP. I want to set something up so that if I delete a message via my phone, my computer will still keep the message locally. For example, assume I leave my computer on, with a synchronize interval of 5 minutes. I want to be able to send something from my phone, wait 5 minutes to be sure my computer has downloaded the item from the Sent folder, then delete it from the IMAP sent folder via my phone, but have the computer at home keep it's copy. Is this possible with any readily available email clients out there? I have Thunderbird and Outlook at the moment, but would be willing to learn a new interface for this feature. How can I accomplish this?

• No image from graphics card but image from onboard video

  I have an HD 5970 running on a P8Z68-v LE motherboard and I have no image comming out of the graphic card. When I plug my screen on my motherboard, I see the bios and the OS. When I plug my screen on the graphic card, I don't see anything. I know that the graphic card works because I have tested it on another computer. I know the motherboard works because I tested it with another graphic card and it worked. I know that the graphic card works with the computer because I have another computer with a P8Z68-LE and an HD 5970. I know it is not an OS issue because I should atleast be able to see the bios. I have tried unplugging my HDDs so that the OS dont interfere with anything. Using a 1000W power supply Using another HD5970 on the computer works. So this is a problem with my HD5970, but why is the graphic card working on my other computer?

• ASUS WL-500gP v2 network between two local machines

  I have two windows XP machines in my home networks, connected with ASUS WL-500gp V2 which also used as internet router. Problem is: while I have both computers normally goes to internet (used DHCP, static routes is ON, routing table is empty, operation mode is Home Gateway). I see both computers listed on the Network Neighborhood on 1st computer (wired to router), can enter to my own computer, but can not enter to other. I see only one computer (2nd) on the Network Neighborhood on 2nd computer (connected thru Wi-Fi), can enter to itself, getting error when trying to enter 1st computer address in address line (like \My1stComp). What is the problem? I totally crazy founding problem about 3 months.

  just built my first computer, trying to install Ubuntu, when I tell my BIOS to startup from disk drive it says "Please insert boot media into boot device" so I insert my burned disc and my computer thinks for a few seconds and then prompts me again. Any idea why? Tried multiple times, burned two discs, I have even confirmed that my build works by swapping hard drives with the computer I'm currently using to post this, so I'm kinda out of answers right now and hoping you guys can help me find something I've done wrong, thanks in advance for any help.

  I'm developing a simple multi-player puzzle game in Java. Both players should be able to view the same game board on his own computer. Then, when one player makes an action in the game (ex. drags an object onto a coordinate space), the game's view should update automatically on the other computer's game screen. I'd like all this to happen over the internet, not requiring both computers to be on the same LAN connection. • mysql backup and restore from ib_logfile failure

  Here's the case: After computer being hacked, we are in a rush to backup all data out to other computer. As a result, the mysql databases are not backup out as sql statement. What we have done is backup out all the physical files/folders in the C drive to new computer. Eg: C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data In this case, all data for mysql are inside unreadable file. Inside data folder consist of files like ib_logfile0, ib_logfile1, but not ib_data1 All database's table structure format are inside each respective folder. (Some folder have .frm, .opt) (some other folder have .frm, .myd, .myi) How can I retrieve back the data from the database in a new computer? I tried to install the same mysql version(4.1) at new computer, then replace all backup files inside data folder into this mysql in new computer. Then restart mysql service. When I restart, it fail: Could not start mysql service on local computer. error 1067: process terminated unexpectedly.   I am completely a newbie in continuous integration but I am trying to learn it. Here is my set up. I have a main production location. Computer A. I have a virtual machine hosting Windows Server 2008 OS which have Cruise Control.NET installed and running. Computer B I use Mercurial as my source control tool installed in Computer A. Everything is configured and I can see Cruise Control report on my Computer B Web server and I can me my repository on Computer A Web server. The problem is the following : From my Computer B's Cruise Control console I have the following error : Source control failure : Unable to execute file [c:\develop\CCnet\WorkingDir\hg]. The file may not exist or may not be executable. File not found 'C:\develop\CCnet\CCnetrtifacts\msbuils-results.xml.   I have two computers that share the same Internet IP address. Using one of the computers, I can remotely connect to a SQL Server database on the other. Here is my connection string: SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=192.168.1.101\SQLEXPRESSNI,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=FirstDB;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=username;Password=password;"); 192.168.1.101 is the server, SQLEXPRESSNI is the SQL Server instance name, and FirstDB is the name of the database. Now, I have another computer with a different Internet IP address. I want to connect to the server above using the third computer that does not belong to my local area network. I dont have access to that third computer at the moment, so I want to use (if possible) the client computer in LAN again. • Installing SQLServer 2005 on Windows 7 64bit

  Hi , It's 3 days I'm trying to install SqlServer 2005 under Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. First let me tell you what I've done and what I've got till now . 1-I Installed Windows 7 64 Bit on my computer 2-I tried to install SQl Server 2005 "Developer Edition" 2.1 But in "System Configuration Check" Page i recieved 2 warning , One for "IIS Feature Requirement" and another for "ASP.NET Version Registration Rquired" . 2.1.1 . I installed "Internet Information Services" from "Turn Windows features on or off" section in control panel 2.1.2 I Enabled reporting service 32 bit from "Inetpub= AdminScripts = adsutil.vbs" 2.2 At this stage There was no waring in System Configuration Check 3- So I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition By all default settings 4- I installed Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 64 bit Now when when i run "Management Studio" There is no name in "Server name" section . I typed my Computer name Or "." and i got this Error : A network -related instance-specific error occurred while establishinga connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider , error :40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ) ( Microsoft SQL Server , Error :2) . I googled some for this Error and some people said follow this instruction: Startsql server 2005Configuration toolsSql Server Surface Configuration AreaSurface Area Configuration for services and Connections But i got this Error : No SQl SErver 2005 Components were found on the specified computer . Either no components are installed , or you are not a administrator on this computer (SQLSAC) I'm really tired because of that , and i don't know what's wrong with this . Some more information : I have no additonal software on my computer , like Antivirus or Proxy I tried all step with "Standard Edition" either , but no difference My user is Administrator I tried more than 5 times all those steps including re-installing Windows 7 . • Windows 7 deployment thru WDS

  Hello, I am deploying new systems on my network and I built my reference computer by installing the OS the manufacturers (Dell and a custom built system from some local business) gave with all drivers, installed all the desired applications. As for the settings part, I'm doing most of it thru GPOs. I want to image my reference computer and deploy it with WDS. i found several links on how to sysprep, but they're all doing it with some differences without explaining them. My questions : How do I manage (into sysprep) the domain join/computer naming part since (from what I understand) WDS manages that? How do I know/determine what I need to setup into my sysprep.xml? Can you sysprep a first time, try and if it fails, do some modifications and try again? I am thinking of doing a basis sysprep, checking what info can be automated and correct that in the answer file. What do I miss if skipping the "audit" mode? I don't plan on re-doing the reference computer... I read that when sysprepping, it resets settings from the reference computer like the computer name, activation/key and such... what setting is sysprep resetting by default that I should be aware of? I must admit I am quite lost about Win7, sysprep, RIS, MDI toolkit, WDS.. I understand the way of doing with XP, but it changed so much with Windows 7! After coming back up the POP3/IMAP4 and Transport services are complaining that they cannot find the correct SSL certificate for mail.example.com.   I’ve a need to create an auto-reply for some of the users in my organization where, when a person sends an E-mail to e.g. [email protected] is faced with an automatically auto-reply with some message “closed during the holidays. We are back at… etc. etc. etc.”. I’ve tried to create a Transport Rule on our Exchange server but the only option I can find in the actions-window is to reply with a “Bounce message to sender with enhanced status code” but I guess that is not the precise action I’m looking for. How can I set up a server-side auto-reply, apply it to only a fixed number of users in my organization and create a message to the senders (which is outside the organization)?

• Network Explorer Intermittently Fails to Display all Computers in Work Group

  I run a small computer lab of 10 computers and occasionally, when using the network explorer (a.k.a Network Browser) some or all of the remote computers will fail to appear. If I try to access a remote computer by its name I get an unspecified error (code 0x80004005), but I am still able to access it with the computer's IP address. The strangest part is that the problem will inexplicably go away after waiting awhile. Each computer is running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise and has identical hardware, software and configuration. They are all on the same subnet and in the same workgroup. I've spent days researching the problem and have tried the following solutions: Updated the BIOS, chipset and network adapter drivers Changed Power Settings in Network Adapter Properties so that the computer will not turn it off Disabled the Computer Browser service Changed the DHCP node type to broadcast Reviewed the Event Viewer logs Steps 3 and 4 have seemed to help the problem a little bit, but not completely. I'm beginning to suspect that the problem might lie with our router which is a ZyXEL ZyWALL 2WG, as the packets sent by Network Discovery may not be returning in time, but I wanted to get some perspective in the issue before I went any further.
