    Hello, my company has about 100 computer each using individual licenses for MS Office and Windows. We are looking to upgrade about 50 computers. We, in the past, have used Dell as our main supplier of PCs and would like to continue with them. What would be the best route for us in upgrading these 50 computers.     RemoteApp sessions lock if idle for 10 minutes, user needs to input password to unlock. My users are running an application from Win2008 Terminal server using RemoteApp. If the application remains idle for 10 minutes it gets "locked" and the user is required to enter username and password to continue using it. This is VERY VERY annoying as the app usually sits idle for bout 20-30 minutes, used for 1 min... repeat.

    Hi! I'm using WinXP SP3 and HP LJ 1018. When I send 80 pages to pring as double side (directly or via FinePrint) only about 10 pages (at one side) are printed, I don't get any pages more and "Continue" button in double-side print dialog is disabled. Is it possible to fix it? Thanks!

    On Linux systems, you can successfully chmod u+s $some_directory, but instead of forcing the ownership of new subdirectories and files to be the owner of the containing directory (and setting subdirectories u+s as well) as you might expect, the system just ignores the setuid bit. Subdirectories and files continue to inherit the UIDs of their creating processes, and subdirectories are not setuid by default. Why is setuid ignored on directories, and how can I get the system to recognize it?

    I have an issue when connecting to remote machines using the following: Set objWMIService = objSWbemLocator.ConnectServer _ (sIP, "root\CIMV2", strUser, strPassword, "MS_409", "ntlmdomain:" + sDomain, 128) the problem is that some machines are not timing out and the process hangs.   • Turning down the sound on a switched off user

    If one switches users (i.e. user one switches off, and then another users logs in) and there is sound playing on the first user, that sound will continue to play for the second user. If the second user has admin rights, they can guess what program is causing the sound and then kill it, but that is very clumsy, and far more than what "needs" to be done. When I open the mixer, it just shows that sound is playing. How can I stop it?

Pretty much all the devices I have support gigabit ethernet should I go out an buy some decent network cables (and if so what type) or should I continue using my mix of cat5 cables I've acquired over the years. Does the type of cable really make a difference to my LAN performance??

    When you press the v keyboard shortcut in Google Reader, it opens a new tab. Regardless of the setting "When a new tab or window is opened, make it active" setting (Under Preferences Tabs), it becomes the frontmost tab when opened. Is there a way to have all tabs open in the background, like when you Cmd+click? (I'm aware of other alternative solutions, such as Firefox which handles this correctly, or a desktop RSS such as NetNewsWire/Vienna which have an "open links in background" option, but I like Google Reader's interface and wish to continue using it)

    Hi, I use ubuntu lucid server and have a sysvinit start up script thats been working for me for years. I only started using lucid recently, and found out about upstart when my script stopped working. The script depends on mysql server, which unlike in older versions, now uses upstart. Migrating my script to upstart isn't an alternative for now. I would like to continue using my sysvinit, but how do I make sure it starts after mysql? Rgds, Eli

  • Smss.exe - setting any core affinity breaks rdp on Windows 7 / Windows Server 2012

    I have tried to set core affinity of smss.exe to not run on one critical core on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008r2. It turns out that simply setting the core affinity to anything (even the full mask that smss.exe already has) seems to work but prevents users from rdp'ing into the machine until it is restarted. The users already logged in may continue to use their sessions. This behaviour does not occur on Windows 8/Windows Server 2012. Does anyone know why it is happening?

  • OpenSSH does not accept public key?

    I've been trying to solve this for a while, but I'm admittedly quite stumped. I just started up a new server and was setting up OpenSSH to use key-based SSH logins, but I've run into quite a dilemma. All the guides are relatively similar, and I was following them closely (despite having done this once before). I triple checked my work to see if I would notice some obvious screw up - but nothing is apparent. As far as I can tell, I haven't done anything wrong (and I've checked very closely).     Here is what I do: restart machine with Windows 8.1 determine "EFI System" parition with the Disk Management utility run command prompt as administrator type diskpart type select disk 0 then select partition 2 then assign open windows explorer windows+e refresh if the drive is not showing F5 try to open drive by double clicking What I expected to happen: I can at least look at my EFI partition files. What happened: after clicking continue after clicking "security tab" link, no security tab What do I need to do to access my EFI partition on Windows 8.1?

    Has anyone come across software that can do this successfully/reliably? I would like to set up my Nexus 7 tablet on a stand under my monitor and use it with the mouse/KB hooked up to my desktop so I can continue to use it while using my desktop without having to pick it up. I was able to find one application which claims to do this (PC Loves Android), but reviews on the Google Play store do not seem to favor it.

I'm editing some files which are purely data, and I get "lost" sometimes ... so it would help if I could select it or somehow otherwise mark the text I've just pasted as to have a visual confirmaton, and to know from where to continue.   • Error message when installing Comodo System Cleaner 2.2.126408.3

    I've downloaded the setup file, closed all applications and tried to run it. Early on I get the message "Error - setup cannot continue. Please uninstall old version CBU" which I assume is something to do with Comodo Backup. I've actually just updated Backup to V 2.2.127002.12 and cleaned the registry with Comodo Registry Cleaner and CCleaner but still get the error message. Please advise on what to do next. I'm using Win Vista Home Premium 32 bit Thanks

    Hi. I was able to get Mac OS X 10.6.2 to work on my 64-bit Acer on VirtualBox multiple times, but I would like to update to 10.6.6. Every time I do, however, I continue to get this annoying error, saying that the kernal and OS version mismatch, and the OS Version is no longer set.
