  • Flex actionscript extending DateChooser, events in calendar

    - by Nemi
    ExtendedDateChooser class is great solution for simple event calendar used in my flex project. You can find it if google for "Adding-Calendar-Event-Entries-to-the-Flex-DateChooser-Component" with a link of updated solution in comments of the post. I posted files below. Problem in that calendar is text events are missing when month is changed. Is there updateCompleted event in Actionscript just like in dateChooser flex component? Like in: <mx:DateChooser id="dc" updateCompleted="goThroughDateChooserCalendarLayoutAndSetEventsInCalendarAgain()"</mx> When scroll event is added, which is available in Actionscript, it gets dispatched but after updateDisplayList() is fired, so didn't manage to answer, why are calendar events erased? Any suggestions, what to add in code, maybe override some function? • Windows 2008 RenderFarm Service: CreateProcessAsUser "Session 0 Isolation" and OpenGL

    - by holtavolt
    Hello, I have a legacy Windows server service and (spawned) application that works fine in XP-64 and W2K3, but fails on W2K8. I believe it is because of the new "Session 0 isolation " feature. (Note: As a StackOverflow newbie I'm being limited to one link in this post, so you'll need to scroll to bottom to lookup the links for '' items)* Consequently, I'm looking for code samples/security settings mojo that let you create a new process from a windows service for Windows 2008 Server such that I can restore (and possibly surpass) the previous behavior. I need a solution that: Creates the new process in a non-zero session to get around session-0 isolation restrictions (no access to graphics hardware from session 0) - the official MS line on this is: Because Session 0 is no longer a user session, services that are running in Session 0 do not have access to the video driver. This means that any attempt that a service makes to render graphics fails. Querying the display resolution and color depth in Session 0 reports the correct results for the system up to a maximum of 1920x1200 at 32 bits per pixel. The new process gets a windows station/desktop (e.g. winsta0/default) that can be used to create windows DCs. I've found a solution (that launches OK in an interactive session) for this here: *(Starting an Interactive Client Process in C++ - 2) The windows DC, when used as the basis for an *(OpenGL DescribePixelFormat enumeration - 3), is able to find and use the hardware-accelerated format (on a system appropriately equipped with OpenGL hardware.) Note that our current solution works OK on XP-64 and W2K3, except if a terminal services session is running (VNC works fine.) A solution that also allowed the process to work (i.e. run with OpenGL hardware acceleration even when a terminal services session is open) would be fanastic, although not required. I'm stuck at item #1 currently, and although there are some similar postings that discuss this (like *(this -4), and *(this - 5) - they are not suitable solutions, as there is no guarantee of a user session logged in already to "take" a session id from, nor am I running from a LocalSystem account (I'm running from a domain account for the service, for which I can adjust the privileges of, within reason, although I'd prefer to not have to escalate priorities to include SeTcbPrivileges.) For instance - here's a stub that I think should work, but always returns an error 1314 on the SetTokenInformation call (even though the AdjustTokenPrivileges returned no errors) I've used some alternate strategies involving "LogonUser" as well (instead of opening the existing process token), but I can't seem to swap out the session id. I'm also dubious about using the WTSActiveConsoleSessionId in all cases (for instance, if no interactive user is logged in) - although a quick test of the service running with no sessions logged in seemed to return a reasonable session value (1). I’ve removed error handling for ease of reading (still a bit messy - apologies) //Also tried using LogonUser(..) here OpenProcessToken(GetCurrentProcess(), TOKEN_QUERY | TOKEN_ADJUST_PRIVILEGES | TOKEN_ADJUST_SESSIONID | TOKEN_ADJUST_DEFAULT | TOKEN_ASSIGN_PRIMARY | TOKEN_DUPLICATE, &hToken) GetTokenInformation( hToken, TokenSessionId, &logonSessionId, sizeof(DWORD), &dwTokenLength ) DWORD consoleSessionId = WTSGetActiveConsoleSessionId(); /* Can't use this - requires very elevated privileges (LOCAL only, SeTcbPrivileges as well) if( !WTSQueryUserToken(consoleSessionId, &hToken)) ... */ DuplicateTokenEx(hToken, (TOKEN_QUERY | TOKEN_ADJUST_PRIVILEGES | TOKEN_ADJUST_SESSIONID | TOKEN_ADJUST_DEFAULT | TOKEN_ASSIGN_PRIMARY | TOKEN_DUPLICATE), NULL, SecurityIdentification, TokenPrimary, &hDupToken)) // Look up the LUID for the TCB Name privilege. LookupPrivilegeValue(NULL, SE_TCB_NAME, &tp.Privileges[0].Luid)) // Enable the TCB Name privilege in the token. tp.PrivilegeCount = 1; tp.Privileges[0].Attributes = SE_PRIVILEGE_ENABLED; if (!AdjustTokenPrivileges(hDupToken, FALSE, &tp, sizeof(TOKEN_PRIVILEGES), NULL, 0)) { DisplayError("AdjustTokenPrivileges"); ... } if (GetLastError() == ERROR_NOT_ALL_ASSIGNED) { DEBUG( "Token does not have the necessary privilege.\n"); } else { DEBUG( "No error reported from AdjustTokenPrivileges!\n"); } // Never errors here DEBUG(LM_INFO, "Attempting setting of sessionId to: %d\n", consoleSessionId ); if (!SetTokenInformation(hDupToken, TokenSessionId, &consoleSessionId, sizeof(DWORD))) *** ALWAYS FAILS WITH 1314 HERE *** All the debug output looks fine up until the SetTokenInformation call - I see session 0 is my current process session, and in my case, it's trying to set session 1 (the result of the WTSGetActiveConsoleSessionId). (Note that I'm logged into the W2K8 box via VNC, not RDC) So - a the questions: Is this approach valid, or are all service-initiated processes restricted to session 0 intentionally? Is there a better approach (short of "Launch on logon" and auto-logon for the servers?) Is there something wrong with this code, or a different way to create a process token where I can swap out the session id to indicate I want to spawn the process in a new session? I did try using LogonUser instead of OpenProcessToken, but that didn't work either. (I don't care if all spawned processes share the same non-zero session or not at this point.) Any help much appreciated - thanks! (You need to replace the 'zttp' with 'http' - StackOverflow restriction on one link in my newbie post) 2: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa379608(VS.85).aspx 3: http://www.opengl.org/resources/faq/technical/mswindows.htm 4: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2237696/creating-a-process-in-a-non-zero-session-from-a-service-in-windows-2008-server 5: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1602996/how-can-i-lauch-a-process-which-has-a-ui-from-windows-service

  • How to manage memory using classes in Objective-C?

    - by Flipper
    This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory. I have narrowed it down to where the crash is occurring: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)aTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Dequeue or create a cell UITableViewCellStyle style = UITableViewCellStyleDefault; UITableViewCell *cell = [aTableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"BaseCell"]; if (!cell) cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:@"BaseCell"] autorelease]; NSString* crayon; // Retrieve the crayon and its color if (aTableView == self.tableView) { crayon = [[[self.sectionArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] getName]; } else { crayon = [FILTEREDKEYS objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } cell.textLabel.text = crayon; if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; return cell; } Here is the getName method: - (NSString*)getName { return name; } name is defined as: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; Now sectionArray is an NSMutableArray with instances of a class that I created Term in it. Term has a method getName that returns a NSString*. The problem seems to be the part of where crayon is being set and getName is being called. I have tried adding autorelease, release, and other stuff like that but that just causes the entire app to crash before even launching. Also if I do: cell.textLabel.text = @"test"; //crayon; /*if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];*/ Then I get no error whatsoever and it all scrolls just fine. Thanks in advance for the help! Edit: Here is the full Log of when I try to run the app and the error it gives when it crashes: [Session started at 2010-12-29 04:23:38 -0500.] [Session started at 2010-12-29 04:23:44 -0500.] GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-967) (Tue Jul 14 02:11:58 UTC 2009) Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. • Success function not being called when form is submitted. jQuery / validationEngine / PHP form proce

    - by Tom Hartman
    Hi, I've been trying to figure out why the following script's success function isn't running. Everything in my form works perfectly, and the form contents are being emailed correctly, but the success function isn't being called. If anyone could review my code and let me know why my success function isn't being called I would very much appreciate it! Here is the HTML form with notification divs, which are hidden via css: <div id="success" class="notification"> <p>Thank you! • Custom styled select box

    - by Ivan
    Hi to all am trying to use javascript for custom styled select boxes from www.gerrendesign.com/entry_images/selectboxdemo.zip and as I have plenty entries inside one of select box I need to make but am stuck in creation of scrolling function. As this select boxes are compatible with almost all older and new browsers. I need only suggestion or solution how to add scroll in this linked/attached files above - if select box is populated with plenty of entries (example cities, states, or exchange rates...) Am stuck here... Thanks for your cooperation Ivan THIS IS CODE: $(document).ready(function(){ // first locate all of the select tags on the page and hide them $("select.changeMe").css('display','none'); //now, for each select box, run this function $("select.changeMe").each(function(){ var curSel = $(this); // get the CSS width from the original select box var gddWidth = $(curSel).css('width'); var gddWidthL = gddWidth.slice(0,-2); var gddWidth2 = gddWidthL - 28; var gddWidth3 = gddWidthL - 16; // build the new div structure var gddTop = '<div style="width:' + gddWidthL + 'px" class="selectME" tabindex="0"><div class="cornerstop"><div><div></div></div></div><div class="middle"><div><div><div>'; //get the default selected option var whatSelected = $(curSel).children('option:selected').text(); //write the default var gddFirst = '<div class="first"><span class="selectME gselected" style="width:'+ gddWidth2 + 'px;">'+ whatSelected +'</span><span id="arrowImg"></span><div class="clears"></div></div><ul class="selectME">'; // create a new array of div options from the original's options var addItems = new Array(); $(curSel).children('option').each( function() { var text = $(this).text(); var selVal = $(this).attr('value'); var before = '<li style="width:' + gddWidthL + 'px;"><a href="#" rel="' + selVal + '" tabindex="0" style="width:' + gddWidth3 + 'px;">'; var after = '</a></li>'; addItems.push(before + text + after); }); //hide the default from the list of options var removeFirst = addItems.shift(); // create the end of the div selectbox and close everything off var gddBottom ='</ul></div></div></div></div><div class="cornersbottom"><div><div></div></div></div></div>' //write everything after each selectbox var GDD = gddTop + gddFirst + addItems.join('') + gddBottom; $(curSel).after(GDD); //this var selects the div select box directly after each of the origials var nGDD = $(curSel).next('div.selectME'); $(nGDD).find('li:first').addClass("first"); $(nGDD).find('li:last').addClass('last'); //handle the on click functions - push results back to old text box $(nGDD).click( function(e) { var myTarA = $(e.target).attr('rel'); var myTarT = $(e.target).text(); var myTar = $(e.target); //if closed, then open if( $(nGDD).find('li').css('display') == 'none') { //this next line closes any other selectboxes that might be open $('div.selectME').find('li').css('display','none'); $(nGDD).find('li').css('display','block'); //if user clicks off of the div select box, then shut the whole thing down $(document.window || 'body').click( function(f) { var myTar2 = $(f.target); if (myTar2 !== nGDD) {$(nGDD).find('li').css('display','none');} }); return false; } else { if (myTarA == null){ $(nGDD).find('li').css('display','none'); return false; } else { //set the value of the old select box $(curSel).val(myTarA); //set the text of the new one $(nGDD).find('span.gselected').text(myTarT); $(nGDD).find('li').css('display','none'); return false; } } //handle the tab index functions }).focus( function(e) { $(nGDD).find('li:first').addClass('currentDD'); $(nGDD).find('li:last').addClass('lastDD'); function checkKey(e){ //on keypress handle functions function moveDown() { var current = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD:first'); var next = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD').next(); if ($(current).is('.lastDD')){ return false; } else { $(next).addClass('currentDD'); $(current).removeClass('currentDD'); } } function moveUp() { var current = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD:first'); var prev = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD').prev(); if ($(current).is('.first')){ return false; } else { $(prev).addClass('currentDD'); $(current).removeClass('currentDD'); } } var curText = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD:first').text(); var curVal = $(nGDD).find('.currentDD:first a').attr('rel'); switch (e.keyCode) { case 40: $(curSel).val(curVal); $(nGDD).find('span.gselected').text(curText); moveDown(); return false; break; case 38: $(curSel).val(curVal); $(nGDD).find('span.gselected').text(curText); moveUp(); return false; break; case 13: $(nGDD).find('li').css('display','none'); } } $(document).keydown(checkKey); }).blur( function() { $(document).unbind('keydown'); }); }); });

  • Bacula windows client could not connect to Bacula director

    - by pr0f-r00t
    I have a Bacula server on my Linux Debian squeeze host (Bacula version 5.0.2) and a Bacula client on Windows XP SP3. On my network each client can see each other, can share files and can ping. • Firefox throwing a exception with HTML Canvas putImageData

    - by mr.doob
    So I was working on this little javascript experiment and I needed a widget to track the FPS of it. I ported a widget I've been using with Actionscript 3 to Javascript and it seems to be working fine with Chrome/Safari but on Firefox is throwing an exception. This is the experiment: Depth of Field This is the error: [Exception... "An invalid or illegal string was specified" code: "12" nsresult: "0x8053000c (NS_ERROR_DOM_SYNTAX_ERR)" location: "http://mrdoob.com/projects/chromeexperiments/depth_of_field__debug/js/net/hires/debug/Stats.js Line: 105"] The line that is complaning about is this one: graph.putImageData(graphData, 1, 0, 0, 0, 69, 50); Which is a crappy code to "scroll" the bitmap pixels. The idea is that I only draw a few pixels on the left of the bitmap and then on the next frame I copy the whole bitmap and paste it on pixel to the right. This error usually is thrown because you're pasting a bitmap bigger than the source and it's going off the limits, but in theory that shouldn't be the case as I'm defining 69 as the width of the rectangle to paste (being the bitmap 70px wide). And this is full code: var Stats = { baseFps: null, timer: null, timerStart: null, timerLast: null, fps: null, ms: null, container: null, fpsText: null, msText: null, memText: null, memMaxText: null, graph: null, graphData: null, init: function(userfps) { baseFps = userfps; timer = 0; timerStart = new Date() - 0; timerLast = 0; fps = 0; ms = 0; container = document.createElement("div"); container.style.fontFamily = 'Arial'; container.style.fontSize = '10px'; container.style.backgroundColor = '#000033'; container.style.width = '70px'; container.style.paddingTop = '2px'; fpsText = document.createElement("div"); fpsText.style.color = '#ffff00'; fpsText.style.marginLeft = '3px'; fpsText.style.marginBottom = '-3px'; fpsText.innerHTML = "FPS:"; container.appendChild(fpsText); msText = document.createElement("div"); msText.style.color = '#00ff00'; msText.style.marginLeft = '3px'; msText.style.marginBottom = '-3px'; msText.innerHTML = "MS:"; container.appendChild(msText); memText = document.createElement("div"); memText.style.color = '#00ffff'; memText.style.marginLeft = '3px'; memText.style.marginBottom = '-3px'; memText.innerHTML = "MEM:"; container.appendChild(memText); memMaxText = document.createElement("div"); memMaxText.style.color = '#ff0070'; memMaxText.style.marginLeft = '3px'; memMaxText.style.marginBottom = '3px'; memMaxText.innerHTML = "MAX:"; container.appendChild(memMaxText); var canvas = document.createElement("canvas"); canvas.width = 70; canvas.height = 50; container.appendChild(canvas); graph = canvas.getContext("2d"); graph.fillStyle = '#000033'; graph.fillRect(0, 0, canvas.width, canvas.height ); graphData = graph.getImageData(0, 0, canvas.width, canvas.height); setInterval(this.update, 1000/baseFps); return container; }, update: function() { timer = new Date() - timerStart; if ((timer - 1000) > timerLast) { fpsText.innerHTML = "FPS: " + fps + " / " + baseFps; timerLast = timer; graph.putImageData(graphData, 1, 0, 0, 0, 69, 50); graph.fillRect(0,0,1,50); graphData = graph.getImageData(0, 0, 70, 50); var index = ( Math.floor(Math.min(50, (fps / baseFps) * 50)) * 280 /* 70 * 4 */ ); graphData.data[index] = graphData.data[index + 1] = 256; index = ( Math.floor(Math.min(50, 50 - (timer - ms) * .5)) * 280 /* 70 * 4 */ ); graphData.data[index + 1] = 256; graph.putImageData (graphData, 0, 0); fps = 0; } ++fps; msText.innerHTML = "MS: " + (timer - ms); ms = timer; } } Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • Why won't my DIV height grow? Is it because I am using floats?

    - by user1684636
    Please help! I am trying to create some div sections and some of these div sections have some other divs that are floated. All of which I have cleared. But the sections are not growing to accomodate the content inside of them. The following is my HTML - <div class="data"> <div class="name">Data</div> <div class="first section"> <div class="title">First Section</div> <div class="left settings"> <div class="row"> <div class="field">First Name</div> <div class="value">John</div> </div> <div class="row"> <div class="field">Last Name</div> <div class="value">Smith</div> </div> </div> <div class="right settings"> <div class="row"> <div class="field">ID</div> <div class="value">321</div> </div> <div class="row"> <div class="field">Group</div> <div class="value">Eng</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="second section"> <div class="title">Second Section</div> </div> <div class="third section"> <div class="title">Third Section</div> </div> </div> The following is my CSS - div.data { position: relative; top: 1em; width: 100em; } div.data div.name { color: #0066FF; font-weight: bold; } div.data div.section div.title { color: green; font-weight: bold; } /** first section **/ div.data div.first div.settings { position: relative; width: 799px; border-top: 1px solid; float: left; } div.data div.first div.left { border-left: 1px solid; } div.data div.first div.settings div.row { border-bottom: 1px solid; clear: both; height: 2em; } div.data div.first div.settings div.row div { float: left; height: 22px; padding: 5px; border-right: 1px solid; } div.data div.first div.settings div.row div.field { width: 192px; } div.data div.first div.settings div.row div.value { width: 585px; } /** second section **/ div.data div.second { clear: both; } For the first section, I have a title and a table that is made up of a left and right. Both of these are floated left and cleared. The rows of the left and right table have a field and value which are also floated left and right and cleared. At this point, I expect "first section" to grow as the content inside of it grows. But instead the height is stuck at 22px, the same height as the section title! What is going on? I tried overflow:auto for div.section and that worked. But when I tried to set this style for div.settings in "first section": div.data div.first div.settings { position: relative; top: 1em; } I end up with these scroll bars, instead of the height growing to fit the new changes. And everything was out of whack. I am really at my wit's end trying to figure this out. If anyone can give me any suggestions on what I am doing wrong, it would be a great help. Thanks.

  • Tabular (X)HTML forms

    - by detly
    I have a set of items that can be in various states. I want to allow a user to use an (X)HTML form to change the state, and easily view the state of a group of objects ...so to this end, I'd like a layout like: | item1 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | | item2 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | etc. I prefer the radio buttons to list boxes so that it's easy for a user to visually scan for things in a certain state. It seemed like perfectly tabular data to me. The only problem is, you can't have forms inside a table that cross table cells (ie. <tr> <form> <td> ... is invalid). I thought, "hey, I could have one giant form wrapping a table, and make the [update button] value contain the IDs for each row!" Turns out certain versions of IE send ALL THE SUBMIT BUTTON VALUES on any single form. So I thought perhaps to to lay it out with <div>s and place the forms inside a single <td>. But then they break a line on each <div>. So I fixed their width and made them float: left. But then they wrap inside the table cells if the table row is wider than the page, and the radio controls don't line up with the headings. Is it possible to lay this out as I intend? The XHTML below shows the intended structure. Observe what happens if you resize the browser window below the width of the table (ideally, the name would break or the table would show a scroll bar). <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head><title>Test</title> <style type="text/css"> .state-select, .thing-state-name, .update { float: left; width: 8em; } .state-select { text-align: center; } </style> </head> <body> <table> <thead> <tr> <th class="thing-name-header">Thing</th> <th> <div class="thing-state-name">Present</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Absent</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Haven't looked</div> </th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Apple</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="1" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>Orange</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="2" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>David Bowie</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="3" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html>

  • Slow draw on some apps and dynamic clocks not working properly with ATI/AMD proprietary drivers

    - by Rakeka
    I've recently purchased a new computer (around July 2010) and I've been having some problems with proprietary video drivers on Linux. The hardware is: Video: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5870 (XFX HD-587X-ZNFC); Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe; Processor: Intel i5 750; Memory: Kingston Hyperx KHX1600C8D3K2/4GX (2x - 8GB Total); Power Supply: XFX P1-750B-CAG9; There are no overclocks, not even the memories (they are at 1333mhz due processor memory controller limitation). The operational system is a homebrew Linux distribution with the following software: Architecture: x86_64 (multilib) Kernel: 2.6.35.10 Xorg: 7.5 Window Manager: wmii-3.9.2 Video Driver: ATI/AMD Catalyst 10.12 There are no desktop effects programs like compiz fusion or beryl. The problems: With ATI/AMD proprietary driver, some applications are with slow draw/redraw, and, the same applications make the driver to increase the card clocks to maximum (0% gpu activity, only the clocks are increased). I dunno exactly how to describe the slow draw but I'll list some applications and symptoms. xterm Flickers a lot when drawing continuous output; When I'm in a workspace with fullscreen xterm, The gpu load stays at 12% in idle, and, with smaller xterm, smaller GPU load. "aticonfig --odgc" output: Default Adapter - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series Core (MHz) Memory (MHz) Current Clocks : 157 300 Current Peak : 850 1200 Configurable Peak Range : [600-900] [900-1300] GPU load : 12% "aticonfig --pplib-cmd 'get activity'" output: Current Activity is Core Clock: 157MHZ Memory Clock: 300MHZ VDDC: 950 Activity: 12 percent Performance Level: 0 Bus Speed: 5000 Bus Lanes: 16 Maximum Bus Lanes: 16 More examples: mplayer time info flickers on terminal; "find /" flickers a lot (It takes some time to stop with control-c. But, If I change the workspace or put some window upon it, just after the control-c, it stops instantly); "cat somefile" if the file is big (Xorg.0.log for example) it takes some time to display; vim and less (ex: find / | less) don't have much problems, just a little flicker when scrolling; mplayer (no gui) Slow reproduction and seek with -vo x11; Tearing with -vo xv; Time info flickers on terminal (xterm consequence); gvim A little slow draw when scrolling with page up/page down; Firefox Slow draw/redraw on some pages like www.boadica.com.br and sometimes on www.youtube.com with flash enable (never noticed on many pages); Corruptions when informative yellow boxes are showing and scroll the page (an gray box appears at the same place of the informative box); "Wallpaper" After minimizing a fullscreen window or changing to an empty workspace it takes some time to redraw wallpaper. "Video Card" The core and memory clocks are increased with the events described above and on other situations like change workspace (even without wallpaper), minimize, maximize or move a window; Idle clocks: Core: 157mhz, Memory: 300mhz Full clocks: Core: 850mhz, Memory: 1200mhz xpdf Painful slow scrolling; display (from ImageMagick) Slow menus and sometimes slow image redraw; Programs that I use and are apparently without problems: gimp; pidgin; mplayer (-vo gl, gl2); blender; unigine heaven (better fps than on Windows); doom3; tibia; penumbra overture; amnesia the dark descent (wine); diablo 2 (wine); No problems on Windows (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit). And special note to this: Full desktop effects from Debian and Ubuntu gnome appearance cpanel don't cause ANY problems, even the core and memory clocks don't increase when change workspace, minimize, maximize or move a window. What I've tested: Unsuccessful tests: Tested all drivers versions since 10.6 (released approximately when I've installed the first slackware in this PC); Tested other video card - ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5570 (XFX HD-557X-ZHF2); Tested some options on xorg.conf and that I've found googling (some of these options are commented on my xorg.conf. I'll send the links at the end of post); Tested some patches like 107_fedora_dont_fill_bg_none.patch and xserver-xorg-backclear.patch from Arch Linux Catalyst page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI_Catalyst); Tested other distros and software versions: Tested XORG-7.6 on my own distribution; Tested Debian Squeeze (testing - from 2010-12-20); Tested Ubuntu Marverick (10.10); Tested Slackware 13.1; Distros info: Architecture: i386 Debian and Ubuntu with all default software (kernel, gnome, xorg, drivers); Slackware with Catalyst from AMD page and default window managers like: fvwm, xfce, and my own build of wmii; Successful tests: Tested other video card (only on my homebrew distro) - NVIDIA Geforce 7300GS with driver 260.19.29; That didn't shown the slow draw problems, but that card is a bit obsolete, so, dunno if that lacks features like the dynamic clocks. I don't dispose of other video cards like nvidia g/gt/gts/gtx 200~400~500 or Radeon HD 3000/4000/6000 to make more tests. Tested other hardware: Video: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5570 (XFX HD-557X-ZHF2); Motherboard: Intel DG31PR; Processor: Core 2 Duo E6750; Software for that hardware: Fresh install of same distros (except for the mine) with same program versions; That video card (HD 5570) were full time at the maximum clocks (something like 500/750, don't remember) in all the operational systems (Windows XP and Windows 7 too), but it didn't shown the same problems that I have here. I've googled a lot about common problems with ATI/AMD proprietary drivers for Linux and didn't find similar problems, except by the Firefox corruptions, that the solutions were to disable ATI Direct2DAccel and use XAA. With XAA the problems persists and the other applications like pidgin and rest of Firefox showed the same problems of slow draw/redraw. Open source Drivers: With open source drivers (xf86-video-ati-6.13.2) I hadn't the same slow draw problems, but, had other problems, that, for now, make it no viable solution. I'll not discuss it here because this is another line of problems and will confuse everything. If it happens to be the only solution, I'll make another thread to discuss it. Logs and Configs: kernel .config dmesg xorg package list xorg.conf Xorg.0.log

  • Opacity in CSS, some doubts

    Hi, I have some doubts with opacity in CSS. I have a Header and a Footer that uses opacity, but I would like to turn off opacity the opacity in the text. Is that possible? To a better understanding I will post the code. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title> stu nicholls | CSS PLaY | cross browser fixed header/footer layout basic method </title> <style type="text/css" media="screen"> #printhead {display:none;} html { height:100%; max-height:100%; padding:0; margin:0; border:0; background:#fff; font-size:80%; font-family: "trebuchet ms", tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; /* hide overflow:hidden from IE5/Mac */ /* \*/ overflow: hidden; /* */ } body {height:100%; max-height:100%; overflow:hidden; padding:0; margin:0; border:0;} #content {display:block; height:100%; max-height:100%; overflow:hidden; padding-left:0px; position:relative; z-index:3; word-wrap:break-word;} #head {position:absolute; margin:0; top:0; right:18px; display:block; width:100%; height:1; background-color:transparent; font-size:1em; z-index:5; color:#000; border-bottom:1px solid #000;} #foot {position:absolute; margin:0; bottom:-1px; right:18px; display:block; width:100%; height:30px; background-color:transparent; color:#000; text-align:right; font-size:2em; z-index:4; border-top:1px solid #000;} .pad1 {display:block; width:18px; height:18px; float:left;} /* Com este "height", alinho a border do header */ .pad2 {display:block; height:100px;} .pad3 {display:block; height:0px;} /* Com este "height" controlo onde começa o content e o scroll do browser */ #content p {padding:5px;} .bold {font-size:1.2em; font-weight:bold;} .red {color:#c00; margin-left:5px; font-family:"trebuchet ms", "trebuchet", "verdana", sans-serif;} h2 {margin-left:5px;} h3 {margin-left:5px;} /* Esta classe controla as caracteristicas do background do footer e do header. */ .bkg { background-color: blue; filter:alpha(opacity=35); /* IE's opacity*/ opacity: 0.35; height: 10; } iframe { border-style: none; width: 100%; height: 100%; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="head"> <div class="bkg"> <div class="pad1"></div>Header </div> </div> <div id="content"> <div class="pad3"></div> <iframe src="http://www.yahoo.com" id="iFrame"></iframe> <div class="pad2"></div> </div> </div> <div id="foot"><div class="bkg">Footer</div></div> </body> </html> I want to maintain the opacity in the blue color in the footer and header but I would like to put the text stronger.   • Trying to create scrolling horizontal thumbnail navigation that hides on left side when not in use

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying recreate the following type of scrolling thumbnail navigation as described in the following tutorial: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2010/05/10/scrollable-thumbs-menu/ I require my thumbs to slide out horizontally from the left. I have amended the code to the best of my abilities, but I can't get it to work. (Think the problem is in the top third of the jquery). Here is what I have to date: HTML <ul class="menu" id="menu"> <li> <a href="#"></a> <div class="sc_menu_wrapper"> <div class="sc_menu"> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/1.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/2.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/3.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/4.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/5.jpg" alt=""/></a> </div> </div> </li> </ul> CSS /* Navigation Style */ ul.menu{ position: fixed; top: 0px; left:0px; width: 100%; } ul.menu li{ position:relative; width: 100% } ul.menu li > a{ position:absolute; top:300px; left:0px; width:40px; height:200px; background-color:#e7e7e8; } /* Thumb Scrolling Style */ div.sc_menu_wrapper { position: absolute; right: 0px; height: 220px; overflow: hidden; top: 300px; left:0px; visibility:hidden; } div.sc_menu { height: 200px; visibility:hidden; } .sc_menu a { display: block; background-color:#e7e7e8; } .sc_menu img { display: block; border: none; opacity:0.3; filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=30); } JQUERY $(function(){ // function to make the thumbs menu scrollable function buildThumbs($elem){ var $wrapper = $elem.next(); var $menu = $wrapper.find('.sc_menu'); var inactiveMargin = 220; // move the scroll down to the beggining (move as much as the height of the menu) $wrapper.scrollRight($menu.outerHeight()); //when moving the mouse up or down, the wrapper moves (scrolls) up or down $wrapper.bind('mousemove',function(e){ var wrapperWidth = $wrapper.width(); var menuWidth = $menu.outerWidth() + 2 * inactiveMargin; var top = (e.pageX - $wrapper.offset().right) * (menuWidth - wrapperWidth) / wrapperWidth - inactiveMargin; $wrapper.scrollRight(right+10); }); } var stacktime; $('#menu li > a').bind('mouseover',function () { var $this = $(this); buildThumbs($this); var pos = $this.next().find('a').size(); var f = function(){ if(pos==0) clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.next().find('a:nth-child('+pos+')').css('visibility','visible'); --pos; }; // each thumb will appear with a delay stacktime = setInterval(f , 50); }); /// on mouseleave of the whole <li> the scrollable area is hidden $('#menu li').bind('mouseleave',function () { var $this = $(this); clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.find('.sc_menu').css('visibility','hidden').find('a').css('visibility','hidden'); $this.find('.sc_menu_wrapper').css('visibility','hidden'); }); // when hovering a thumb, change its opacity $('.sc_menu a').hover( function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'1.0'},400); }, function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'0.3'},400); } ); }); Wondering if some eagle eye might be able to point out where I am going wrong. As my knowledge of JQuery is limited, I'm guessing it is in there. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to look this over. Thank you!

  • Unable to output XML data in a manageable way

    I've been given data from a previous version of a website (it was a custom CMS) and am looking to get it into a state that I can import it into my Wordpress site. This is what I'm working on - http://www.teamworksdesign.com/clients/ciw/datatest/index.php. • Success function not being called when form is submitted

    Hi, I've been trying to figure out why the following script's success function isn't running. Everything in my form works perfectly, and the form contents are being emailed correctly, but the success function isn't being called. • Preventing ListBox scrolling to top when updated

    - by WDZ
    I'm trying to build a simple music player with a ListBox playlist. When adding audio files to the playlist, it first fills the ListBox with the filenames and then (on a separate thread) extracts the ID3 data and overwrites the filenames with the correct Artist - Title information (much like Winamp). But while the ListBox is being updated, it's unscrollable, as it always jumps to the top on every item overwrite. Any way to prevent this? EDIT: The code: public Form1() { //Some initialization code omitted here BindingList<TAG_INFO> trackList = new BindingList<TAG_INFO>(); // The Playlist this.playlist = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.playlist.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(12, 12); this.playlist.Name = "playlist"; this.playlist.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(229, 316); this.playlist.DataSource = trackList; } private void playlist_add_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Initialize OpenFileDialog OpenFileDialog opd = new OpenFileDialog(); opd.Filter = "Music (*.WAV; *.MP3; *.FLAC)|*.WAV;*.MP3;*.FLAC|All files (*.*)|*.*"; opd.Title = "Select Music"; opd.Multiselect = true; //Open OpenFileDialog if (DialogResult.OK == opd.ShowDialog()) { //Add opened files to playlist for (int i = 0; opd.FileNames.Length > i; ++i) { if (File.Exists(opd.FileNames[i])) { trackList.Add(new TAG_INFO(opd.FileNames[i])); } } //Initialize BackgroundWorker BackgroundWorker _bw = new BackgroundWorker(); _bw.WorkerReportsProgress = true; _bw.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(thread_trackparser_DoWork); _bw.ProgressChanged += new ProgressChangedEventHandler(_bw_ProgressChanged); //Start ID3 extraction _bw.RunWorkerAsync(); } } void thread_trackparser_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { BackgroundWorker _bw = sender as BackgroundWorker; for (int i = 0; i < trackList.Count; ++i) { //Pass extracted tag info to _bw_ProgressChanged for thread-safe playlist entry update _bw.ReportProgress(0,new object[2] {i, BassTags.BASS_TAG_GetFromFile(trackList[i].filename)}); } } void _bw_ProgressChanged(object sender, ProgressChangedEventArgs e) { object[] unboxed = e.UserState as object[]; trackList[(int)unboxed[0]] = (unboxed[1] as TAG_INFO); } EDIT2: Much simpler test case: Try scrolling down without selecting an item.   • CSS Position Help (horizontal sidebar showing up when animate content over)

    - by jstacks
    Let me try my best to explain what I'd like to have happen, show you the code I have an hopefully I can get some help. So, I'm trying to do a sliding navigation UI from the left side of the screen (like a lot of mobile apps). The main content slides over, displaying the navigation menu beneath. Right now the browser thinks the screen is getting wider and introduces a horizontal scroll bar. However, I don't want that to happen... How do I get the div to animate off screen but not enlarge the width of the screen (i.e. keep it partially off screen)? Anyway here is my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/2vP67/6/ And here is the code within the post: HTML <div id='wrapper'> <div id='navWide'> </div> <div id='containerWide'> </div> <div id='containerTall'> <div id='container'> <div id='nav'> <div id='navNavigate'> Open Menu </div> <div id='navNavigateHide'> Close Menu </div> </div> </div> </div> <div id='sideContainerTall'> <div id='sideContainer'> <div id='sideNav'>Side Navigation </div> </div> </div> </div> CSS #wrapper { width:100%; min-width:1000px; height:100%; min-height:100%; position:relative; top:0; left:0; z-index:0; } #navWide { color: #ffffff; background:#222222; width:100%; min-width:1000px; height:45px; position:fixed; top:0; left:0; z-index:100; } #containerWide { width:100%; min-width:1000px; min-height:100%; position:absolute; top:45px; z-index:100; } #containerTall { color: #000000; background:#dadada; width:960px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:1000; } /***** main container *****/ #container { width:960px; min-height:585px; } #nav { color: #ffffff; background:#222222; width:960px; height:45px; position:fixed; top:0; z-index:10000; } #navNavigate { background:yellow; font-size:10px; color:#888888; width:32px; height:32px; padding:7px 6px 6px 6px; float:left; cursor:pointer; } #navNavigateHide { background:yellow; font-size:10px; color:#888888; width:32px; height:32px; padding:7px 6px 6px 6px; float:left; cursor:pointer; display:none; } #sideContainerTall { background:#888888; width:264px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:500; } #sideContainer { width:264px; min-height:585px; display:none; } #sideContainerTall { background:#888888; width:264px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:500; } #sideContainer { width:264px; min-height:585px; display:none; } #sideNav { width:264px; height:648px; float:left; } Javascript $(document).ready(function() { $('div#navNavigate').click(function() { $('div#navNavigate').hide(); $('div#navNavigateHide').show(); $('div#sideContainer').show(); $('div#containerTall').animate({ 'left': '+=264px' }); }); $('div#navNavigateHide').click(function() { $('div#navNavigate').show(); $('div#navNavigateHide').hide(); $('div#containerTall').animate({ 'left': '-=264px' }, function() { $('div#sideContainer').hide(); }); }); });

  • android listview loadmore button with xml parsing

    - by user1780331
    Hi i have to developed listview with load more button using xml parsing in android application. Here i have faced some problem. my xml feed is empty means how can hide the load more button on last page. i have used below code here. public class CustomizedListView extends Activity { // All static variables private String URL = "http://dev.mmm.com/xctesting/xcart444pro/retrieve.php?page=1"; // XML node keys static final String KEY_SONG = "Order"; static final String KEY_TITLE = "orderid"; static final String KEY_DATE = "date"; static final String KEY_ARTIST = "payment_method"; int current_page = 1; ListView lv; LazyAdapter adapter; ProgressDialog pDialog; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list); ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> songsList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); XMLParser parser = new XMLParser(); String xml = parser.getXmlFromUrl(URL); // getting XML from URL Document doc = parser.getDomElement(xml); // getting DOM element NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); // looping through all song nodes <song> for (int i = 0; i < nl.getLength(); i++) { // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); Element e = (Element) nl.item(i); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, parser.getValue(e, KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ARTIST)); songsList.add(map); } Button btnLoadMore = new Button(this); btnLoadMore.setText("Load More"); btnLoadMore.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.lgnbttn); // Adding Load More button to lisview at bottom lv.addFooterView(btnLoadMore); // Getting adapter adapter = new LazyAdapter(this, songsList); lv.setAdapter(adapter); btnLoadMore.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // Starting a new async task new loadMoreListView().execute(); } }); } private class loadMoreListView extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { @Override protected void onPreExecute() { // Showing progress dialog before sending http request pDialog = new ProgressDialog( CustomizedListView.this); pDialog.setMessage("Please wait.."); //pDialog.setIndeterminateDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.my_progress_indeterminate)); pDialog.setIndeterminate(true); pDialog.setCancelable(false); pDialog.show(); pDialog.setContentView(R.layout.custom_dialog); } protected Void doInBackground(Void... unused) { current_page += 1; // Next page request URL = "http://dev.mmm.com/xctesting/xcart444pro/retrieve.php?page=" + current_page; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> songsList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); XMLParser parser = new XMLParser(); String xml = parser.getXmlFromUrl(URL); // getting XML from URL Document doc = parser.getDomElement(xml); // getting DOM element NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); if (nl.getLength() == 0) { btnLoadMore.setVisibility(View.GONE); pDialog.dismiss(); } else // looping through all item nodes <item> for (int i = 0; i < nl.getLength(); i++) { // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); Element e = (Element) nl.item(i); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, parser.getValue(e, KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ARTIST)); songsList.add(map); } // get listview current position - used to maintain scroll position int currentPosition = lv.getFirstVisiblePosition(); // Appending new data to menuItems ArrayList adapter = new LazyAdapter( CustomizedListView.this, songsList); lv.setAdapter(adapter); lv.setSelectionFromTop(currentPosition + 1, 0); } }); return (null); } protected void onPostExecute(Void unused) { // closing progress dialog pDialog.dismiss(); } } } EDIT: Here i have to run the app means the listview is displayed on perpage 4 items.my last page having 1 item.please refer this screenshot:http://screencast.com/t/fTl4FETd In last page i have to click the load more button means have to go next activity and successfully hide the button on empty page..please refer this screenshot:http://screencast.com/t/wyG5zdp3r i have to check the condition for empty page: if (nl.getLength() == 0) { btnLoadMore.setVisibility(View.GONE); pDialog.dismiss(); } How can i write the conditon fot last page?????pleas ehelp me Here i wish to need the o/p is hide the button on last page.   • Getting Started Building Windows 8 Store Apps with XAML/C#

    - by dwahlin
    Technology is fun isn’t it? As soon as you think you’ve figured out where things are heading a new technology comes onto the scene, changes things up, and offers new opportunities. One of the new technologies I’ve been spending quite a bit of time with lately is Windows 8 store applications. I posted my thoughts about Windows 8 during the BUILD conference in 2011 and still feel excited about the opportunity there. Time will tell how well it ends up being accepted by consumers but I’m hopeful that it’ll take off. I currently have two Windows 8 store application concepts I’m working on with one being built in XAML/C# and another in HTML/JavaScript. I really like that Microsoft supports both options since it caters to a variety of developers and makes it easy to get started regardless if you’re a desktop developer or Web developer. Here’s a quick look at how the technologies are organized in Windows 8: In this post I’ll focus on the basics of Windows 8 store XAML/C# apps by looking at features, files, and code provided by Visual Studio projects. To get started building these types of apps you’ll definitely need to have some knowledge of XAML and C#. Let’s get started by looking at the Windows 8 store project types available in Visual Studio 2012.   Windows 8 Store XAML/C# Project Types When you open Visual Studio 2012 you’ll see a new entry under C# named Windows Store. It includes 6 different project types as shown next.   The Blank App project provides initial starter code and a single page whereas the Grid App and Split App templates provide quite a bit more code as well as multiple pages for your application. The other projects available can be be used to create a class library project that runs in Windows 8 store apps, a WinRT component such as a custom control, and a unit test library project respectively. If you’re building an application that displays data in groups using the “tile” concept then the Grid App or Split App project templates are a good place to start. An example of the initial screens generated by each project is shown next: Grid App Split View App   When a user clicks a tile in a Grid App they can view details about the tile data. With a Split View app groups/categories are shown and when the user clicks on a group they can see a list of all the different items and then drill-down into them:   For the remainder of this post I’ll focus on functionality provided by the Blank App project since it provides a simple way to get started learning the fundamentals of building Windows 8 store apps.   Blank App Project Walkthrough The Blank App project is a great place to start since it’s simple and lets you focus on the basics. In this post I’ll focus on what it provides you out of the box and cover additional details in future posts. Once you have the basics down you can move to the other project types if you need the functionality they provide. The Blank App project template does exactly what it says – you get an empty project with a few starter files added to help get you going. This is a good option if you’ll be building an app that doesn’t fit into the grid layout view that you see a lot of Windows 8 store apps following (such as on the Windows 8 start screen). I ended up starting with the Blank App project template for the app I’m currently working on since I’m not displaying data/image tiles (something the Grid App project does well) or drilling down into lists of data (functionality that the Split App project provides). The Blank App project provides images for the tiles and splash screen (you’ll definitely want to change these), a StandardStyles.xaml resource dictionary that includes a lot of helpful styles such as buttons for the AppBar (a special type of menu in Windows 8 store apps), an App.xaml file, and the app’s main page which is named MainPage.xaml. It also adds a Package.appxmanifest that is used to define functionality that your app requires, app information used in the store, plus more. The App.xaml, App.xaml.cs and StandardStyles.xaml Files The App.xaml file handles loading a resource dictionary named StandardStyles.xaml which has several key styles used throughout the application: <Application x:Class="BlankApp.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="using:BlankApp"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <!-- Styles that define common aspects of the platform look and feel Required by Visual Studio project and item templates --> <ResourceDictionary Source="Common/StandardStyles.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application>   StandardStyles.xaml has style definitions for different text styles and AppBar buttons. If you scroll down toward the middle of the file you’ll see that many AppBar button styles are included such as one for an edit icon. Button styles like this can be used to quickly and easily add icons/buttons into your application without having to be an expert in design. <Style x:Key="EditAppBarButtonStyle" TargetType="ButtonBase" BasedOn="{StaticResource AppBarButtonStyle}"> <Setter Property="AutomationProperties.AutomationId" Value="EditAppBarButton"/> <Setter Property="AutomationProperties.Name" Value="Edit"/> <Setter Property="Content" Value="&#xE104;"/> </Style> Switching over to App.xaml.cs, it includes some code to help get you started. An OnLaunched() method is added to handle creating a Frame that child pages such as MainPage.xaml can be loaded into. The Frame has the same overall purpose as the one found in WPF and Silverlight applications - it’s used to navigate between pages in an application. /// <summary> /// Invoked when the application is launched normally by the end user. Other entry points /// will be used when the application is launched to open a specific file, to display /// search results, and so forth. /// </summary> /// <param name="args">Details about the launch request and process.</param> protected override void OnLaunched(LaunchActivatedEventArgs args) { Frame rootFrame = Window.Current.Content as Frame; // Do not repeat app initialization when the Window already has content, // just ensure that the window is active if (rootFrame == null) { // Create a Frame to act as the navigation context and navigate to the first page rootFrame = new Frame(); if (args.PreviousExecutionState == ApplicationExecutionState.Terminated) { //TODO: Load state from previously suspended application } // Place the frame in the current Window Window.Current.Content = rootFrame; } if (rootFrame.Content == null) { // When the navigation stack isn't restored navigate to the first page, // configuring the new page by passing required information as a navigation // parameter if (!rootFrame.Navigate(typeof(MainPage), args.Arguments)) { throw new Exception("Failed to create initial page"); } } // Ensure the current window is active Window.Current.Activate(); }   Notice that in addition to creating a Frame the code also checks to see if the app was previously terminated so that you can load any state/data that the user may need when the app is launched again. If you’re new to the lifecycle of Windows 8 store apps the following image shows how an app can be running, suspended, and terminated.   If the user switches from an app they’re running the app will be suspended in memory. The app may stay suspended or may be terminated depending on how much memory the OS thinks it needs so it’s important to save state in case the application is ultimately terminated and has to be started fresh. Although I won’t cover saving application state here, additional information can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/hh465099.aspx. Another method in App.xaml.cs named OnSuspending() is also included in App.xaml.cs that can be used to store state as the user switches to another application:   /// <summary> /// Invoked when application execution is being suspended. Application state is saved /// without knowing whether the application will be terminated or resumed with the contents /// of memory still intact. /// </summary> /// <param name="sender">The source of the suspend request.</param> /// <param name="e">Details about the suspend request.</param> private void OnSuspending(object sender, SuspendingEventArgs e) { var deferral = e.SuspendingOperation.GetDeferral(); //TODO: Save application state and stop any background activity deferral.Complete(); } The MainPage.xaml and MainPage.xaml.cs Files The Blank App project adds a file named MainPage.xaml that acts as the initial screen for the application. It doesn’t include anything aside from an empty <Grid> XAML element in it. The code-behind class named MainPage.xaml.cs includes a constructor as well as a method named OnNavigatedTo() that is called once the page is displayed in the frame.   /// <summary> /// An empty page that can be used on its own or navigated to within a Frame. /// </summary> public sealed partial class MainPage : Page { public MainPage() { this.InitializeComponent(); } /// <summary> /// Invoked when this page is about to be displayed in a Frame. /// </summary> /// <param name="e">Event data that describes how this page was reached. The Parameter /// property is typically used to configure the page.</param> protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e) { } }   If you’re experienced with XAML you can switch to Design mode and start dragging and dropping XAML controls from the ToolBox in Visual Studio. If you prefer to type XAML you can do that as well in the XAML editor or while in split mode. Many of the controls available in WPF and Silverlight are included such as Canvas, Grid, StackPanel, and Border for layout. Standard input controls are also included such as TextBox, CheckBox, PasswordBox, RadioButton, ComboBox, ListBox, and more. MediaElement is available for rendering video or playing audio files. Some of the “common” XAML controls included out of the box are shown next:   Although XAML/C# Windows 8 store apps don’t include all of the functionality available in Silverlight 5, the core functionality required to build store apps is there with additional functionality available in open source projects such as Callisto (started by Microsoft’s Tim Heuer), Q42.WinRT, and others. Standard XAML data binding can be used to bind C# objects to controls, converters can be used to manipulate data during the data binding process, and custom styles and templates can be applied to controls to modify them. Although Visual Studio 2012 doesn’t support visually creating styles or templates, Expression Blend 5 handles that very well. To get started building the initial screen of a Windows 8 app you can start adding controls as mentioned earlier. Simply place them inside of the <Grid> element that’s included. You can arrange controls in a stacked manner using the StackPanel control, add a border around controls using the Border control, arrange controls in columns and rows using the Grid control, or absolutely position controls using the Canvas control. One of the controls that may be new to you is the AppBar. It can be used to add menu/toolbar functionality into a store app and keep the app clean and focused. You can place an AppBar at the top or bottom of the screen. A user on a touch device can swipe up to display the bottom AppBar or right-click when using a mouse. An example of defining an AppBar that contains an Edit button is shown next. The EditAppBarButtonStyle is available in the StandardStyles.xaml file mentioned earlier. <Page.BottomAppBar> <AppBar x:Name="ApplicationAppBar" Padding="10,0,10,0" AutomationProperties.Name="Bottom App Bar"> <Grid> <StackPanel x:Name="RightPanel" Orientation="Horizontal" Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Right"> <Button x:Name="Edit" Style="{StaticResource EditAppBarButtonStyle}" Tag="Edit" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> </AppBar> </Page.BottomAppBar> Like standard XAML controls, the <Button> control in the AppBar can be wired to an event handler method in the MainPage.Xaml.cs file or even bound to a ViewModel object using “commanding” if your app follows the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern (check out the MVVM Light package available through NuGet if you’re using MVVM with Windows 8 store apps). The AppBar can be used to navigate to different screens, show and hide controls, display dialogs, show settings screens, and more.   The Package.appxmanifest File The Package.appxmanifest file contains configuration details about your Windows 8 store app. By double-clicking it in Visual Studio you can define the splash screen image, small and wide logo images used for tiles on the start screen, orientation information, and more. You can also define what capabilities the app has such as if it uses the Internet, supports geolocation functionality, requires a microphone or webcam, etc. App declarations such as background processes, file picker functionality, and sharing can also be defined Finally, information about how the app is packaged for deployment to the store can also be defined. Summary If you already have some experience working with XAML technologies you’ll find that getting started building Windows 8 applications is pretty straightforward. Many of the controls available in Silverlight and WPF are available making it easy to get started without having to relearn a lot of new technologies. In the next post in this series I’ll discuss additional features that can be used in your Windows 8 store apps.

The previous posts were: JMS Step 1 - How to Create a Simple JMS Queue in Weblogic Server 11g JMS Step 2 - Using the QueueSend.java Sample Program to Send a Message to a JMS Queue JMS Step 3 - Using the QueueReceive.java Sample Program to Read a Message from a JMS Queue JMS Step 4 - How to Create an 11g BPEL Process Which Writes a Message Based on an XML Schema to a JMS Queue JMS Step 5 - How to Create an 11g BPEL Process Which Reads a Message Based on an XML Schema from a JMS Queue This example leads you through the creation of an Oracle database Advanced Queue and the related WebLogic server objects in order to use AQ JMS in connection with a SOA composite. If you have not already done so, I recommend you look at the previous posts in this series, as they include steps which this example builds upon. The following examples will demonstrate how to write and read from the queue from a SOA process. 1. Recap and Prerequisites In the previous examples, we created a JMS Queue, a Connection Factory and a Connection Pool in the WebLogic Server Console. Then we wrote and deployed BPEL composites, which enqueued and dequeued a simple XML payload. AQ JMS allows you to interoperate with database Advanced Queueing via JMS in WebLogic server and therefore take advantage of database features, while maintaining compliance with the JMS architecture. AQ JMS uses the WebLogic JMS Foreign Server framework. A full description of this functionality can be found in the following Oracle documentation Oracle® Fusion Middleware Configuring and Managing JMS for Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Release 1 (10.3.6) Part Number E13738-06 7. Interoperating with Oracle AQ JMS http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e13738/aq_jms.htm#CJACBCEJ For easier reference, this sample will use the same names for the objects as in the above document, except for the name of the database user, as it is possible that this user already exists in your database. We will create the following objects Database Objects Name Type AQJMSUSER Database User MyQueueTable Advanced Queue (AQ) Table UserQueue Advanced Queue WebLogic Server Objects Object Name Type JNDI Name aqjmsuserDataSource Data Source jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource AqJmsModule JMS System Module AqJmsForeignServer JMS Foreign Server AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory JMS Foreign Server Connection Factory AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory AqJmsForeignDestination AQ JMS Foreign Destination queue/USERQUEUE eis/aqjms/UserQueue Connection Pool eis/aqjms/UserQueue 2. Create a Database User and Advanced Queue The following steps can be executed in the database client of your choice, e.g. JDeveloper or SQL Developer. The examples below use SQL*Plus. Log in to the database as a DBA user, for example SYSTEM or SYS. Create the AQJMSUSER user and grant privileges to enable the user to create AQ objects. Create Database User and Grant AQ Privileges sqlplus system/password as SYSDBA GRANT connect, resource TO aqjmsuser IDENTIFIED BY aqjmsuser; GRANT aq_user_role TO aqjmsuser; GRANT execute ON sys.dbms_aqadm TO aqjmsuser; GRANT execute ON sys.dbms_aq TO aqjmsuser; GRANT execute ON sys.dbms_aqin TO aqjmsuser; GRANT execute ON sys.dbms_aqjms TO aqjmsuser; Create the Queue Table and Advanced Queue and Start the AQ The following commands are executed as the aqjmsuser database user. Create the Queue Table connect aqjmsuser/aqjmsuser; BEGIN dbms_aqadm.create_queue_table ( queue_table = 'myQueueTable', queue_payload_type = 'sys.aq$_jms_text_message', multiple_consumers = false ); END; / Create the AQ BEGIN dbms_aqadm.create_queue ( queue_name = 'userQueue', queue_table = 'myQueueTable' ); END; / Start the AQ BEGIN dbms_aqadm.start_queue ( queue_name = 'userQueue'); END; / The above commands can be executed in a single PL/SQL block, but are shown as separate blocks in this example for ease of reference. You can verify the queue by executing the SQL command SELECT object_name, object_type FROM user_objects; which should display the following objects: OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE ------------------------------ ------------------- SYS_C0056513 INDEX SYS_LOB0000170822C00041$$ LOB SYS_LOB0000170822C00040$$ LOB SYS_LOB0000170822C00037$$ LOB AQ$_MYQUEUETABLE_T INDEX AQ$_MYQUEUETABLE_I INDEX AQ$_MYQUEUETABLE_E QUEUE AQ$_MYQUEUETABLE_F VIEW AQ$MYQUEUETABLE VIEW MYQUEUETABLE TABLE USERQUEUE QUEUE Similarly, you can view the objects in JDeveloper via a Database Connection to the AQJMSUSER. 3. Configure WebLogic Server and Add JMS Objects All these steps are executed from the WebLogic Server Administration Console. Log in as the webLogic user. Configure a WebLogic Data Source The data source is required for the database connection to the AQ created above. Navigate to domain > Services > Data Sources and press New then Generic Data Source. Use the values:Name: aqjmsuserDataSource JNDI Name: jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource Database type: Oracle Database Driver: *Oracle’ Driver (Thin XA) for Instance connections; Versions:9.0.1 and later Connection Properties: Enter the connection information to the database containing the AQ created above and enter aqjmsuser for the User Name and Password. Press Test Configuration to verify the connection details and press Next. Target the data source to the soa server. The data source will be displayed in the list. It is a good idea to test the data source at this stage. Click on aqjmsuserDataSource, select Monitoring > Testing > soa_server1 and press Test Data Source. The result is displayed at the top of the page. Configure a JMS System Module The JMS system module is required to host the JMS foreign server for AQ resources. Navigate to Services > Messaging > JMS Modules and select New. Use the values: Name: AqJmsModule (Leave Descriptor File Name and Location in Domain empty.) Target: soa_server1 Click Finish. The other resources will be created in separate steps. The module will be displayed in the list.   Configure a JMS Foreign Server A foreign server is required in order to reference a 3rd-party JMS provider, in this case the database AQ, within a local WebLogic server JNDI tree. Navigate to Services > Messaging > JMS Modules and select (click on) AqJmsModule to configure it. Under Summary of Resources, select New then Foreign Server. Name: AqJmsForeignServer Targets: The foreign server is targeted automatically to soa_server1, based on the JMS module’s target. Press Finish to create the foreign server. The foreign server resource will be listed in the Summary of Resources for the AqJmsModule, but needs additional configuration steps. Click on AqJmsForeignServer and select Configuration > General to complete the configuration: JNDI Initial Context Factory: oracle.jms.AQjmsInitialContextFactory JNDI Connection URL: <empty> JNDI Properties Credential:<empty> Confirm JNDI Properties Credential: <empty> JNDI Properties: datasource=jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource This is an important property. It is the JNDI name of the data source created above, which points to the AQ schema in the database and must be entered as a name=value pair, as in this example, e.g. datasource=jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource, including the “datasource=” property name. Default Targeting Enabled: Leave this value checked. Press Save to save the configuration. At this point it is a good idea to verify that the data source was written correctly to the config file. In a terminal window, navigate to $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/soa_domain/config/jms  and open the file aqjmsmodule-jms.xml . The foreign server configuration should contain the datasource name-value pair, as follows:   <foreign-server name="AqJmsForeignServer">         <default-targeting-enabled>true</default-targeting-enabled>         <initial-context-factory>oracle.jms.AQjmsInitialContextFactory</initial-context-factory>         <jndi-property>           <key> datasource </key>           <value> jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource </value>         </jndi-property>   </foreign-server> </weblogic-jms> Configure a JMS Foreign Server Connection Factory When creating the foreign server connection factory, you enter local and remote JNDI names. The name of the connection factory itself and the local JNDI name are arbitrary, but the remote JNDI name must match a specific format, depending on the type of queue or topic to be accessed in the database. This is very important and if the incorrect value is used, the connection to the queue will not be established and the error messages you get will not immediately reflect the cause of the error. The formats required (Remote JNDI names for AQ JMS Connection Factories) are described in the section Configure AQ Destinations  of the Oracle® Fusion Middleware Configuring and Managing JMS for Oracle WebLogic Server document mentioned earlier. In this example, the remote JNDI name used is   XAQueueConnectionFactory  because it matches the AQ and data source created earlier, i.e. thin with AQ. Navigate to JMS Modules > AqJmsModule > AqJmsForeignServer > Connection Factories then New.Name: AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory Local JNDI Name: AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory Note: this local JNDI name is the JNDI name which your client application, e.g. a later BPEL process, will use to access this connection factory. Remote JNDI Name: XAQueueConnectionFactory Press OK to save the configuration. Configure an AQ JMS Foreign Server Destination A foreign server destination maps the JNDI name on the foreign JNDI provider to the respective local JNDI name, allowing the foreign JNDI name to be accessed via the local server. As with the foreign server connection factory, the local JNDI name is arbitrary (but must be unique), but the remote JNDI name must conform to a specific format defined in the section Configure AQ Destinations  of the Oracle® Fusion Middleware Configuring and Managing JMS for Oracle WebLogic Server document mentioned earlier. In our example, the remote JNDI name is Queues/USERQUEUE , because it references a queue (as opposed to a topic) with the name USERQUEUE. We will name the local JNDI name queue/USERQUEUE, which is a little confusing (note the missing “s” in “queue), but conforms better to the JNDI nomenclature in our SOA server and also allows us to differentiate between the local and remote names for demonstration purposes. Navigate to JMS Modules > AqJmsModule > AqJmsForeignServer > Destinations and select New.Name: AqJmsForeignDestination Local JNDI Name: queue/USERQUEUE Remote JNDI Name:Queues/USERQUEUE After saving the foreign destination configuration, this completes the JMS part of the configuration. We still need to configure the JMS adapter in order to be able to access the queue from a BPEL processt. 4. Create a JMS Adapter Connection Pool in Weblogic Server Create the Connection Pool Access to the AQ JMS queue from a BPEL or other SOA process in our example is done via a JMS adapter. To enable this, the JmsAdapter in WebLogic server needs to be configured to have a connection pool which points to the local connection factory JNDI name which was created earlier. Navigate to Deployments > Next and select (click on) the JmsAdapter. Select Configuration > Outbound Connection Pools and New. Check the radio button for oracle.tip.adapter.jms.IJmsConnectionFactory and press Next. JNDI Name: eis/aqjms/UserQueue Press Finish Expand oracle.tip.adapter.jms.IJmsConnectionFactory and click on eis/aqjms/UserQueue to configure it. The ConnectionFactoryLocation must point to the foreign server’s local connection factory name created earlier. In our example, this is AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory . As a reminder, this connection factory is located under JMS Modules > AqJmsModule > AqJmsForeignServer > Connection Factories and the value needed here is under Local JNDI Name. Enter AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory  into the Property Value field for ConnectionFactoryLocation. You must then press Return/Enter then Save for the value to be accepted. If your WebLogic server is running in Development mode, you should see the message that the changes have been activated and the deployment plan successfully updated. If not, then you will manually need to activate the changes in the WebLogic server console.Although the changes have been activated, the JmsAdapter needs to be redeployed in order for the changes to become effective. This should be confirmed by the message Remember to update your deployment to reflect the new plan when you are finished with your changes. Redeploy the JmsAdapter Navigate back to the Deployments screen, either by selecting it in the left-hand navigation tree or by selecting the “Summary of Deployments” link in the breadcrumbs list at the top of the screen. Then select the checkbox next to JmsAdapter and press the Update button. On the Update Application Assistant page, select “Redeploy this application using the following deployment files” and press Finish. After a few seconds you should get the message that the selected deployments were updated. The JMS adapter configuration is complete and it can now be used to access the AQ JMS queue. You can verify that the JNDI name was created correctly, by navigating to Environment > Servers > soa_server1 and View JNDI Tree. Then scroll down in the JNDI Tree Structure to eis and select aqjms. This concludes the sample. In the following post, I will show you how to create a BPEL process which sends a message to this advanced queue via JMS. The previous posts were: JMS Step 1 - How to Create a Simple JMS Queue in Weblogic Server 11g JMS Step 2 - Using the QueueSend.java Sample Program to Send a Message to a JMS Queue JMS Step 3 - Using the QueueReceive.java Sample Program to Read a Message from a JMS Queue JMS Step 4 - How to Create an 11g BPEL Process Which Writes a Message Based on an XML Schema to a JMS Queue JMS Step 5 - How to Create an 11g BPEL Process Which Reads a Message Based on an XML Schema from a JMS Queue JMS Step 6 - How to Set Up an AQ JMS (Advanced Queueing JMS) for SOA Purposes This example demonstrates how to write a simple message to an Oracle AQ via the the WebLogic AQ JMS functionality from a BPEL process and a JMS adapter. If you have not yet reviewed the previous posts, please do so first, especially the JMS Step 6 post, as this one references objects created there. 1. Recap and Prerequisites In the previous example, we created an Oracle Advanced Queue (AQ) and some related JMS objects in WebLogic Server to be able to access it via JMS. Here are the objects which were created and their names and JNDI names: Database Objects Name Type AQJMSUSER Database User MyQueueTable Advanced Queue (AQ) Table UserQueue Advanced Queue WebLogic Server Objects Object Name Type JNDI Name aqjmsuserDataSource Data Source jdbc/aqjmsuserDataSource AqJmsModule JMS System Module AqJmsForeignServer JMS Foreign Server AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory JMS Foreign Server Connection Factory AqJmsForeignServerConnectionFactory AqJmsForeignDestination AQ JMS Foreign Destination queue/USERQUEUE eis/aqjms/UserQueue Connection Pool eis/aqjms/UserQueue 2 . Create a BPEL Composite with a JMS Adapter Partner Link This step requires that you have a valid Application Server Connection defined in JDeveloper, pointing to the application server on which you created the JMS Queue and Connection Factory. You can create this connection in JDeveloper under the Application Server Navigator. Give it any name and be sure to test the connection before completing it. This sample will write a simple XML message to the AQ JMS queue via the JMS adapter, based on the following XSD file, which consists of a single string element: stringPayload.xsd <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?> <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"                xmlns="http://www.example.org"                targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"                elementFormDefault="qualified">  <xsd:element name="exampleElement" type="xsd:string">  </xsd:element> </xsd:schema> The following steps are all executed in JDeveloper. The SOA project will be created inside a JDeveloper Application. If you do not already have an application to contain the project, you can create a new one via File > New > General > Generic Application. Give the application any name, for example JMSTests and, when prompted for a project name and type, call the project   JmsAdapterWriteAqJms  and select SOA as the project technology type. If you already have an application, continue below. Create a SOA Project Create a new project and select SOA Tier > SOA Project as its type. Name it JmsAdapterWriteAqJms . When prompted for the composite type, choose Composite With BPEL Process. When prompted for the BPEL Process, name it JmsAdapterWriteAqJms too and choose Synchronous BPEL Process as the template. This will create a composite with a BPEL process and an exposed SOAP service. Double-click the BPEL process to open and begin editing it. You should see a simple BPEL process with a Receive and Reply activity. As we created a default process without an XML schema, the input and output variables are simple strings. Create an XSD File An XSD file is required later to define the message format to be passed to the JMS adapter. In this step, we create a simple XSD file, containing a string variable and add it to the project. First select the xsd item in the left-hand navigation tree to ensure that the XSD file is created under that item. Select File > New > General > XML and choose XML Schema. Call it stringPayload.xsd  and when the editor opens, select the Source view. then replace the contents with the contents of the stringPayload.xsd example above and save the file. You should see it under the XSD item in the navigation tree. Create a JMS Adapter Partner Link We will create the JMS adapter as a service at the composite level. If it is not already open, double-click the composite.xml file in the navigator to open it. From the Component Palette, drag a JMS adapter over onto the right-hand swim lane, under External References. This will start the JMS Adapter Configuration Wizard. Use the following entries: Service Name: JmsAdapterWrite Oracle Enterprise Messaging Service (OEMS): Oracle Advanced Queueing AppServer Connection: Use an existing application server connection pointing to the WebLogic server on which the connection factory created earlier is located. You can use the “+” button to create a connection directly from the wizard, if you do not already have one. Adapter Interface > Interface: Define from operation and schema (specified later) Operation Type: Produce Message Operation Name: Produce_message Produce Operation Parameters Destination Name: Wait for the list to populate. (Only foreign servers are listed here, because Oracle Advanced Queuing was selected earlier, in step 3) .         Select the foreign server destination created earlier, AqJmsForeignDestination (queue) . This will automatically populate the Destination Name field with the name of the foreign destination, queue/USERQUEUE . JNDI Name: The JNDI name to use for the JMS connection. This is the JNDI name of the connection pool created in the WebLogic Server.JDeveloper does not verify the value entered here. If you enter a wrong value, the JMS adapter won’t find the queue and you will get an error message at runtime. In our example, this is the value eis/aqjms/UserQueue Messages URL: We will use the XSD file we created earlier, stringPayload.xsd to define the message format for the JMS adapter. Press the magnifying glass icon to search for schema files. Expand Project Schema Files > stringPayload.xsd and select exampleElement : string . Press Next and Finish, which will complete the JMS Adapter configuration. Wire the BPEL Component to the JMS Adapter In this step, we link the BPEL process/component to the JMS adapter. From the composite.xml editor, drag the right-arrow icon from the BPEL process to the JMS adapter’s in-arrow.   This completes the steps at the composite level. 3. Complete the BPEL Process Design Invoke the JMS Adapter Open the BPEL component by double-clicking it in the design view of the composite.xml. This will display the BPEL process in the design view. You should see the JmsAdapterWrite partner link under one of the two swim lanes. We want it in the right-hand swim lane. If JDeveloper displays it in the left-hand lane, right-click it and choose Display > Move To Opposite Swim Lane. An Invoke activity is required in order to invoke the JMS adapter. Drag an Invoke activity between the Receive and Reply activities. Drag the right-hand arrow from the Invoke activity to the JMS adapter partner link. This will open the Invoke editor. The correct default values are entered automatically and are fine for our purposes. We only need to define the input variable to use for the JMS adapter. By pressing the green “+” symbol, a variable of the correct type can be auto-generated, for example with the name Invoke1_Produce_Message_InputVariable. Press OK after creating the variable. Assign Variables Drag an Assign activity between the Receive and Invoke activities. We will simply copy the input variable to the JMS adapter and, for completion, so the process has an output to print, again to the process’s output variable. Double-click the Assign activity and create two Copy rules: for the first, drag Variables > inputVariable > payload > client:process > client:input_string to Invoke1_Produce_Message_InputVariable > body > ns2:exampleElement for the second, drag the same input variable to outputVariable > payload > client:processResponse > client:result This will create two copy rules, similar to the following: Press OK. This completes the BPEL and Composite design. 4. Compile and Deploy the Composite Compile the process by pressing the Make or Rebuild icons or by right-clicking the project name in the navigator and selecting Make... or Rebuild... If the compilation is successful, deploy it to the SOA server connection defined earlier. (Right-click the project name in the navigator, select Deploy to Application Server, choose the application server connection, choose the partition on the server (usually default) and press Finish. You should see the message ----  Deployment finished.  ---- in the Deployment frame, if the deployment was successful. 5. Test the Composite Execute a Test Instance In a browser, log in to the Enterprise Manager 11g Fusion Middleware Control (EM) for your SOA installation. Navigate to SOA > soa-infra (soa_server1) > default (or wherever you deployed your composite) and click on  JmsAdapterWriteAqJms [1.0] , then press the Test button. Enter any string into the text input field, for example “Test message from JmsAdapterWriteAqJms” then press Test Web Service. If the instance is successful, you should see the same text you entered in the Response payload frame. Monitor the Advanced Queue The test message will be written to the advanced queue created at the top of this sample. To confirm it, log in to the database as AQJMSUSER and query the MYQUEUETABLE database table. For example, from a shell window with SQL*Plus sqlplus aqjmsuser/aqjmsuser SQL> SELECT user_data FROM myqueuetable; which will display the message contents, for example Similarly, you can use the JDeveloper Database Navigator to view the contents. Use a database connection to the AQJMSUSER and in the navigator, expand Queues Tables and select MYQUEUETABLE. Select the Data tab and scroll to the USER_DATA column to view its contents. This concludes this example. The following post will be the last one in this series. In it, we will learn how to read the message we just wrote using a BPEL process and AQ JMS. • Install Control Center Agent on Oracle Application Server

    - by qianqian.wu
    Control Center Agent (CCA) The Control Center Agent is the OWB component that runs the Template Mappings in the Oracle Containers for J2EE (OC4J) server; also referred to as the J2EE Runtime. The Control Center Agent provides a Java-based runtime environment that can be installed on Oracle and non-Oracle database hosts. The Control Center Agent provides fundamental infrastructure for the heterogeneous, Code Template-based mapping support and Web services-related features of OWB in this release. In Oracle Warehouse Builder 11gR2 the Control Center Agent, by default will run in the built-in OC4J that is bundled in the Oracle Home. Besides that, you also have ability to install the Control Center Agent in an Oracle Application Server install. In this article, you will find step-by-step instructions how to install the Control Center Agent on an Oracle Application Server instance. The instructions cover the following tasks: Task 1: Install and Configure the Application Server Task 2: Deploy the Control Center Agent to the Application Server Task 3: Optional Configuration Tasks   Task 1: Install and Configure the Application Server Before configuring the Application Server, you need to install it from Oracle Application Server CD-ROM, or by downloading the installation program from Oracle Technology Network (OTN). Once the installation is completed, you are ready to configure the Application Server. The purpose of the configuration task is to make sure the Control Center Agent ear file can be deployed and runs in the Application Server successfully. The essential configuration tasks are outlined below: · Modify the OC4J Startup Script · Set up Control Center Agent Server Side Logging · Set up Audit Table Data Source · Copy ct_permissions.properties File · Set up Security Roles for Control Center Agent · Create JMS Queues · Install JDBC Drivers to OC4J Modify the OC4J Startup Script The OC4J startup script “opmn.xml” is located in Application Server configuration directory, $AS_HOME/opmn/conf. $AS_HOME stands for the root home directory of the application server. Open the file opmn.xml in a text editor, and alter the contents of the file as displayed in the following sample. You need to make sure that: The MaxPerSize is set to 128M. This is to ensure that you allocate enough PermGen space to OC4J to run Control Center Agent. This will prevent java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when running the agent. The Python.path sets the path for the Python library files used by the Control Center Agent: jython_lib.zip and jython_owblib.jar. These two files are in the $OWB_HOME/owb/lib/int directory, where $OWB_HOME is the directory where owb is installed. · The km_security_needed determines whether restrictions will be applied to the kinds of operating system commands allowed to be executed by the OWB Code Template script executed by Control Center Agent. Setting km_security_needed to “true” enforces such restriction while setting it to “false” removes such restrictions. Set up Control Center Agent Server Side Logging Ensure that you are in the Application Server configuration directory, $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config. Open the file j2ee-logging.xml in a text editor and add the following lines to the log handler section. The jrt-internal-log-handler is the handler used by Control Center Agent runtime logger to create log files. Then add the following entry into the loggers section to create the logger for Control Center Agent runtime auditing. Set up Audit Table Data Source To enable Audit Table logging, a managed data source and connection pool need to be set up before Control Center Agent deployment. Ensure that you are in the Application Server configuration directory, $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config. Open the file data-sources.xml in a text editor. Define the audit data source shown below in the file, <managed-data-source name="AuditDS" connection-pool-name="OWBSYS Audit   Connection Pool" jndi-name="jdbc/AuditDS"/> <connection-pool name="OWBSYS Audit Connection Pool">   <connection-factory factory-class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"     user="owbsys_audit" password="owbsys_audit"     url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//localhost:1521/ORCL"/> </connection-pool> Copy ct_permissions.properties File The ct_permissions.properties can be obtained from $OWB_HOME /owb/jrt/config/ directory. You need to copy the file to $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory.This properties file takes effect when the setting km-security is set to true in Control Center Agent. By default the ALLOWED_CMD is commented out in ct_permissions.properties file. This prevents all system command from being invoked from scripts executed in Control Center Agent (when km-security is set to true). To allow certain system commands to be invoked, ALLOWED_CMD needs to be uncommented out, and the system commands (allowed to be invoked) need to be added to the ALLOWED_CMD. Set up Security Roles for Control Center Agent You can set up the Control Center Agent security roles through Oracle Enterprise Manager. In a web browser, navigate to Enterprise Manager Homepage (e.g. http://hostname:8889/em). 1. Log in using the oc4jadmin credentials. After the Cluster Topology page is loaded, click home (the OC4J instance). This takes you to the home page of the OC4J instance. On the OC4J home screen, click the Administration tab. On the Administration Tasks screen, expand Security. Click the task icon next to Security Providers. 2. On Security Providers page click on the button “Instance Level Security”. On Instance Level Security page, go to “Realms” tab. You will see a row for the default realm “jazn.com” in the results table. It has a “Roles” column and a “Users” column. Click on the number in “Roles” column. In the “Roles” page it will display all the roles available for the realm. Click on “Create” button to create a new role “OWB_J2EE_ EXECUTOR”. 3. On the Add Role screen, enter Name OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR, and click OK. 4. Follow the same steps as before, and create a new role “OWB_J2EE_OPERATOR”. 5. Assign role “oc4j-administrators” and “OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR” to the role “OWB_J2EE_OPERATOR” by moving these roles from “Available Roles” and click “OK” to save. 6. Go back to Instance Level Security page and create a new role “OWB_J2EE_ADMINISTRATOR”. 7. Assign roles “OWB_J2EE_ OPERATOR” and “OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR” to the role “OWB_J2EE_ ADMINISTRATOR” by moving these roles from “Available Roles” and click “OK” to save. 8.Go back to Instance Level Security page. This time, click on the number in “Users” column for the realm “jazn.com”. In the “Users” page, it shows all the users defined for this realm. Locate the user “oc4jadmin” in the results table and click on it. 9. Assign the roles “OWB_J2EE_ADMINISTRATOR” and “oc4j-app-administrators” to this user by moving the role from the “Available Roles” selection box to “Selected Roles” box and click “Apply” to save. 10. Go back to Instance Level Security page and create a new role “OWB_INTERNAL_USERS”, assign no user or role to this role. Simply click “OK” to create this role. Now you have finished creating the security roles required for Control Center Agent. Create JMS Queues You need to create two JMS queues for Control Center Agent: owbQueue and abort_owbQueue. 1. Now go to OC4J home Page. On the OC4J home screen, click the Administration tab. On the Administration Tasks screen, expand Services and then expand Enterprise Messaging Service. Click the task icon next to JMS Destinations. 2. On JMS Destinations page, click “Create New” button to create a new JMS queue. On Add Destination page, choose “Queue” as Destination Type. Put “owbQueue” as Destination Name. Select “In Memory Persistence Only” as the Persistence Type and put “jms/owbQueue” as JNDI Location and click on “OK” to finish. 3. Follow the same instruction as above to create the owb_abortQueue. Now you have finished creating the JMS queues required for Control Center Agent. Install JDBC Drivers to OC4J In order to execute Code Templates using commercial databases other than Oracle, e.g. DB2, SQL Server etc, the corresponding jdbc driver files need to be added to $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applib directory. 1. To install other JDBC drivers to OC4J, first obtain the .jar file containing the JDBC driver. All the external JDBC drivers .jar files can be found in the directory: $OWB_HOME/owb/lib/ext/. For DB2, the files needed are db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar. For SQL Server the file is sqljdbc.jar. For sunopsis JDBC drivers, the file needed is snpsxmlo.jar. 2. Copy the required JDBC driver file into the directory $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applib. Now you have finished the Application Server configuration. To make the configuration to take an effect, you need to restart the Application Server.   Task 2: Deploy the Control Center Agent to the Application Server Now you can deploy the Control Center Agent to the Application Server. On the OC4J home screen, click the Applications tab. Click Deploy to begin deploying Control Center Agent. 2. On the Deploy: Select Archive screen, under Archive, select Archive is present on local host. Upload the archive to the server where Application Server Control is running. Click Browse and locate the jrt.ear file in the $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/applications directory. Under Deployment Plan, select Automatically create a new deployment plan. Click Next. 3. Wait for the ear file to be uploaded to Application Server. On the Deploy: Application Attributes screen, enter Application Name jrt, and Context Root jrt. Leave the other attributes at their default values. Click Next. 4. On Deploy: Deployment Settings screen, leave all attributes at their default values, and click Deploy. This will take about 1 minute or so and when the application is deployed successfully, a confirmation message will be displayed. Now the Control Center Agent is started automatically. Go back to OC4J home page and click on Applications tab to make sure the deployed application jrt is showing in the applications list.   Task 3: Optional Configuration Tasks The optional configuration tasks contain: · Secure Control Center Agent Web Service · Setting the PATH Environment Variable Secure Control Center Agent Web Service If you want to use JRTWebService with a secure website, you need to do the following steps, 1. Create a file “secure-web-site.xml” in the $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. The file can be obtained from $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/config directory. A sample secure-web-site.xml is shown as below. We need to modify the “protocol” to “https”, and “secure” to “true”, also choose an port as the secure http port. Also we need to add the entry “ssl-config” in the file. Remember to use the absolute path for the key store file. 2. Modify the file “server.xml” that is located at $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. Then add the <web-site> element in the file for the secure-web-site. 3. Create a key store file “serverkeystore.jks” in the $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. The file can be obtained from $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/config directory. After the three files are altered, restart the application server. Now you can access the JRTWebService in SSL way through https://hostname:4443/jrt/webservice. Setting the PATH Environment Variable Sometimes, some system commands such as linux ls, sh etc, can not be executed successfully during the script execution due to they are not found in PATH. To ensure they work normally, you can setup the environment variable PATH. Let’s navigate to the Enterprise Manager Homepage. 1. Go to OC4J home screen and click the Administration tab. Expand Administration Tasks, then expand Properties. Click the task icon next to Server Properties. 2. On the Server Properties screen, scroll down to Environment Variables section. Under Environment Variables, click Add Another Row. Enter PATH in Name, and fill Value with directories that contain the system commands. Click Apply.   After you work through this article, I believe you have developed a deeper understanding of the Control Center Agent installation process, and you can apply this knowledge in other installation plan such as Control Center Agent installation on Standalone OC4J.
