• OS X: How can I copy the shell path to clipboard?

  When working with files on my mac I employ a mixed approach of shell/finder or keyboard/mouse, similar to working with 4NT and Explorer on Windows. One thing I use(d) extensively on Windows is to copy the path of the current directory to the clipboard. This is an extended feature of TakeCommand by JPSoft, on Windows. Is there a way to copy the current path from the bash shell to the mac's clipboard, so I can use it in 'file open' and/or similar dialogues?

• Internet Explorer - selected language is changing to English when opening a new window

  When opening a new window in IE8 or IE9 (doesn't matter if using a link or window.open), my selected keyboard language is changing to English (doesn't matter what was the previous selection, tried it with a few different languages). This doesn't happen for me in Chrome or Firefox (all the browsers are installed in their English version), and I tested it in Windows 7 and Windows 2008R2. Is there any way to avoid that? If there isn't - supposing the new window is within my website or application, is there a way to change it back?

• Can I use BitLocker on a Windows 8 Tablet? How?

  I hear that Windows 8 Pro can use full disk encryption. I also understand that Win8 is targeting the "slate" / "tablet" form factor specifically. But all my previous experience with BitLocker requires you to put in some kind of PIN or password at boot time -- how can I do this without a (hardware) keyboard? This preview of an upcoming Win8 tablet mentions BitLocker but doesn't address the PIN issue. Am I missing something?

• Black screen before booting up windows 7

  I have this problem that even before booting into Win7, my laptop gets stuck in a black screen with a blinking keyboard cursor on it. It happened after I formatted one of my other partitions. I have tried everything including bootrec /fixmbr, bootrec /fixboot, and I have even tried using Ubuntu grub to boot windows but unfortunately even grub does not identify my Windows installation. • Black Screen After Sleep (Win 8)

  I have an SSD only, Intel HD Graphics only, Ultrabook running on Windows 8 64-bit and after I turn it back on, after a long sleep of a few hours, the screen remains black even though the power is on (the fan and keyboard backlight are on). I have to force a shut down and switch it back on to use it normally again. Hibernation and hybrid-sleep are turned off. It comes out of sleep of less than an hour just fine. Any advise? Mark

Everytime I accidentally hit my ctrl key by itself on my keyboard (I am using windows 7) my volume automatically lowers to a very low volume and then I can't hear anything.   I you copy/paste some files into a directory that already contains files with the same name you'll get a confirmation dialog "There is already a file with the same name in this location..." To replace all files you have to check "Do this for the next N conflicts" and then click on "Copy and Replace". Is there a keyboard shortcut for this (like there was in XP where you could simply press 'a')?

  I understand it may "protect" an area but I don't get why the customer gets it and then takes it off after it was being protected in a full box anyway. Also, should those film covers that surround the plastics around a laptop screen (and not the screen itself) and maybe also on the keyboard be kept on as much as possible? I noticed if one tries to keep them on as much as possible they tend to go off by themselves anyway, but anyway, what's the status quo about it?
