  • Building a custom textbox in GTK

    - by CommuSoft
I want to make my own GTK# Textbox, the textbox should draw the text and it's cursor on a special way. However keyboard and mouse-handling is quite complex and is also influenced by for instance the operating system (for instance the use of dead keys) Is there a way to build such a control without having to worry about keyboard input? I assume I have to make a textbox control that inherits the original textbox control. How can I handle drawing requests and mouse movements?

  • Database design -- does it respect 3rd NF?

    - by Flavius
Hi I have the following relations (tables) in a relational model Person person_id, first_name, last_name, address Student person_id, matr_nr Teacher person_id, salary Lecture lecture_id, lect_name, lect_description Attendees lecture_id, person_id, date I'm wondering about the functional dependencies of Student and Teacher. Do these tables respect the 3rd normal form? Which should be the primary keys of these tables?

  • Converting different registry value types to string?

    - by Tom
Hi, im traversing through the registry, taking the values of the keys and storing them as strings. I have discovered there are many different types. Some of these types are causing my filestream writer to fail. Is it possible to convert all of the below into a string form. The actual data value is not important, just the ability to differentiate between different values. DWORD ExpandString Binary (is this just the same as byte[] ?) MultiString

  • What will this B-tree look like?

    - by Phenom
The B-tree is of order 4, meaning that it can hold 4 pointers, and 3 keys. The following is inserted: A G I Y Since they can't all fit in one node, I know that the node will split. So I know there's going to be a root node with 2 child nodes after these things are inserted, but I don't know exactly what they'll look like.

  • Relational Database arrays (H2, Java)

    - by Daddy Warbox
I seem to have two options on how to implement arrays, and I want to know which I should go with: Use the ARRAY data type and (from what I understand) effectively serialize data objects into the database (which in my case are just wrapped primitive types; don't know of another way to make this work). Use a separate table and map with foreign keys for each array item. If you have experience with this (especially with H2), which would you recommend?

  • how do I iterate through multiple properties in jsp

    - by David
I'm trying to iterate through a properties file which contains a list of keys like: message.p1 message.p2 message.p3 I don't know how many properties will be in the file, so I want to display any that are present. Is there a standard tag like <fmt:message> that can handle this, or do I need to write some jsp script to handle the loop?

  • How to automatically reseed after using identity_insert?

    - by Earlz
Hello, I recently migrated from a PostgreSQL database to a SQL Server database. To switch the data over I had to enable IDENTITY_INSERT. Well come to find out that I get all sorts of strange errors due to duplicate identity values(which are set as primary keys) upon doing an insert in any of the tables. I have quite a few tables. What would be the easiest way of automatically reseeding the identity of every table so that it is after max(RID)?

  • The fundamentals of Hash tables?

    - by kylex
I'm quite confused about the basic concepts of a Hash table. If I were to code a hash how would I even begin? What is the difference between a Hash table and just a normal array? Basically if someone answered this question I think all my questions would be answered: If I had 100 randomly generated numbers (as keys), how would I implement a hash table and why would that be advantageous over an array? Psuedo-code or Java would be appreciated as a learning tool...

  • Is learning ed worth it to boost my speed in VIM?

    - by Ksiresh
I've learned the basic/intermediate levels of VIM ( it's to vast to list ). I often find that I slip back to my old ways and start using the mouse, holding down keys to get somewhere, and doing other stupid things that could be spead up. Would it be worth spending time to learn ed to break the habits learned from years in Windoze? Does using ed cultivate the right type of thinking that will transfer to VIM???
