• Getting attachments from a mail account with .NET

  I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free. • AWS SES for bulk mail : Require email verification?

  We're thinking of moving to Amazon's SES for sending bulk mail. It appears that we have a unique API call for each email we want to send. So if there are 20k emails to send, we make 20k API calls. My question is, do we need to verify these email addresses before we send to them? We have an existing database of users and I'd rather the transition to SES to be transparent to them. I noticed that SES has an API method for verifying emails. If we aren't required to verify, why would someone would use this method?

• Can I use Lotus Notes to send mail ?

  I have to code an app that at some point in time will have to send some reports using Lotus Notes. My questions are : Can I send mail through the Lotus Notes client, or something related to Lotus Notes ( a command line tool maybe? )? If so, where could I find information related to this? I would prefer not having to do it in C/C++, but if no other options' present, that would do. How can I find out the server's address? The GUI is not intuitive, and I can't find the server address. The server's located on another computer on the network.

To make it easier for people to answer to threads I would like to enable reply-to-post, similar to basecamp and a bunch of other forums and tools out there. I would add a separator text (like "----add your reply above this line-----") in the original email. I need to: - process incoming email - extract the new text (above the separator line) - ideally strip out text like "on ... [email protected] wrote:" that is automatically added by some mail clients - identify the thread this email is referring to (either using the incoming address or the subject line) - identify the sender - post the content as new reply Any suggestions on how to get started?   Hi, I am looking for a bit of guidence on how to create mail contacts in AD. This is a follow on question from SO Q#1861336. What I am trying to do is add a load of contact objects into an OU in Active Directory. I've been using the examples on CodeProject, however they only show how to make new user etc. How do I create a contact using c#? Is it similar to creating a new user but with different LDAP type attributes? My plan is to then run the enable-mailcontact cmdlet powershell script to enable Exchange 2010 to see the contact in the GAL. As you can see by my questions I don't usually deal with c# or Active Directory so any help/pointers would be really useful before I start playing with this loaded gun. Thanks, Grant

  I am currently in the process of migrating away from Facebook (privacy concerns, mostly). For obvious reasons, I want to save away the email addresses from my friends' profile pages. However, this turned out to be a rather hard task, because the Facebook API doesn't let you access any mail addresses. However, I just tried the automatic contact import feature of Skype, and it seems to be able to retrieve the email addresses of my friends from Facebook. Does anyone know how it's done so I could replicate it?

• Need to link WP Blog with Rails App on Heroku

  I have a client who wants to migrate his Rails app to Heroku. However the client also has a blog associated with his domain that runs on WordPress. Currently, the WordPress blog is running happily alongside the Rails app, but once we migrate to Heroku, that clearly won't be possible. The url for the app is like http://mydomain.com, and the url for the blog is like http://mydomain/blog. I realize that the best long-term solution is to redo the blog in a Rails format like Toto or Jekyll. But in the short term, what is the best way to continue hosting the WP blog where it is (or somewhere) but use Heroku to run the app? The client doesn't want the blog to be on a subdomain, but to remain at mydomain/blog for SEO reasons and also since there is traffic to the blog. I have two ideas: Use rack_rewrite or refraction (or just a regular old 301 and Apache mod_rewrite) on the old (non-Heroku) server to redirect the main url from the old site to Heroku. In this case, I can just leave the Wordpress blog running happily where it is. I think?? Is there a reason to choose one of those options (rack_rewrite, refraction, or mod_rewrite) over the others if I do it this way? Switch the DNS info to point to the Heroku site, and then use a 301 redirect from the blog to the old site. But then I'll have to get the old (non-Heroku) site on a subdomain and use some kind of rewrite rules anyway so it looks like it isn't a subdomain. Are either of these approaches preferable, or is there another way to do it that's easier that I'm missing?

• Keynote presentation in conjunction with other app?

  The short version: I'd like to tell Apple Keynote to switch to a specific app (never leaving full-screen mode) before a certain slide appears, then display that slide as soon as I switch back. Some more details: I'm going to show off five major improvements in an upcoming release of our app. I want one slide highlighting the feature, then one or two showing some details, perhaps with screenshots. After that, so people get a better impression of what I'm talking about, I'll show it off live — to do this, I have to switch to a VM or remote session (since this is a Windows app). Then, I'd like to switch back and go to the next feature. I.e., it would be similar to Apple's "Demo" slides in a cursive font, except not with a different screen, or different computer. It's this switching back and forth that I want to make smooth, just to wow the audience a little. Can I perhaps do a "special" slide in Keynote that tells it to run an AppleScript? Better yet, to switch to an app, and wait until I switch back, and then automatically advance to the next slide?

• Spring Security - Interactive login attempt was unsuccessful

  I've been trying to track down why Spring Security isn't creating the SPRING_SECURITY_REMEMBER_ME_COOKIE so I turned on logging for org.springframework.security.web.authentication.rememberme. At first glance, the logs make it seem like the login is failing but the login is actually successful in the sense that if I navigate to a page that requires authentication I am not redirected back to the login page. However, the logs appear to be saying the login credentials are invalid. Any ideas as to what is going on? • How do I permanently delete e-mail messages in the sendmail queue and keep them from coming back?

  I have a pretty annoying problem here. I have been testing an application and have created some test e-mails to bogus e-mail addresses (not to mention that my server isn't really set up to send e-mail anyway). Of course, sendmail is not able to send these messages and they have been getting stuck in the sendmail queue. I want to manually delete the messages that have been building up in the queue instead of waiting the 5 days that sendmail usually takes to stop retrying. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and /var/spool/mqueue/ is the directory in which every how-to I have read says the e-mails that are queued up are kept. When I delete the files in this directory, sendmail stops trying to process the e-mails until what appears to be a cron script runs and re-populates this directory with the messages I don't want sent. • Good ways to dynamically generate the start image of an iPhone/iPad app

  I'm self-learning iPhone development and I see that one of the aspects of an iPhone/iPad app is the start image that gets displayed when your app is run. I'd like my start image to display some basic info about the user when the app is launched, but that info has to first be collected by the user when the app is first run. That tells me that I either need to dynamically generate the start image after the user enters their information or I need to place a label of some sort on top of my static start image in order to accomplish this. The first time the app launched and before the user enters their info, the start image can be anything or nothing at all, I'm not concerned about this. So, my two questions are this... Can you place controls, like a label, on top of the start image when your app is launched? If not, what's a good approach to dynamically generating the start image after the app is launched for the first time and the user info is collected? Thanks so much in advance for your help! • Android: Determine when an app is being finalized vs destroyed for screen orientation change

  Hi all, I am relatively new to the Android world and am having some difficultly understanding how the whole screen orientation cycle works. I understand that when the orientation changes from portrait to landscape or vice versa the activity is destroyed and then re-created. Thus all the code in the onCreate function will run again. So here's my situation: I have an app that I am working on where it logs into a website, retrieves data, and displays it to the user. While this is all done in background threads, the code that starts these threads is in the onCreate function. Now, the problem lies in that whenever the user changes the screen orientation, the app will log in, retrieve the data, and display it to the user again. What I would like to do is set a boolean that tells the app if it is logged in or not so it knows whether or not it must log in when the onCreate function is called. So long as the app is in memory the HttpClient will exist and contain the cookies from logging the user in but when the app is killed by the system those will go away. So I would assume that I need to do something like setting the logged in boolean to false when the app is killed but since onDestroy is called when the screen is rotated how is this possible? I also looked into the finalize function and isFinishing() but those seem to not be working. Shorter version: How can I distinguish between when an app is being killed from memory from when an activity is being rotated and different code for each event? Any help or a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

• Google MapView doesn't work after signed the app.

  Hi guys, I am facing to android application signing problem. My application contains Google MapView. When I compile the app and run on the emulator, MapView works fine. But signed the app, MapView doesn't work. I've get Google Map API. This works on the simulator. I could sign the app once 2 months ago. Then I've upgraded the app. Now I need to sign the app again. Actually I don't know why signed app's mapView doesn't work. How to fix it ? Please advice. I used following steps when sign the app: Run Eclipse. Select the project. Right Click - Android Tools - Export Signed Application Package - Then Filled forms. (In forms, Validity years: 200, and all passwords are same.) Can you suggest me ? Thanks in advance.

• php mailer attachments

  I have been using this script to send emails to certain staff but because of changes to my system i have to now send attachements with the email and i have tried multipul peices of code to accomplish this but have been unsuccessful...
