  The newest OPN Competency Center (OPN CC) enhancements are now available. This release is focused on a new look and simplified navigation, and Resell Competency Tracking functionality. Some of the key features released include: 1. New Look and Feel with Simplified Navigation Users are now one click away from the most valuable resources. Additionally, there are now focused areas which allow users to navigate more effectively. Users can review their individual achievements, create a dedicated Training Plan to broaden their knowledge, or use the new Company Corner to view their company’s achievements. Your view as an Oracle employee has been modified and the Company Corner will provide links to allow access to Partner Workgroups and other links specific to your partner data. 2. Resell Competency Tracker This new functionality has been created to allow partners to track their progress toward becoming Resell Authorized. The Resell Competency Tracker highlights those Knowledge Zones where additional requirements must be achieved prior to Distribution Rights being granted and allows the partners to track their progress. This tracker is available to all users badged to a company ID and also to Internal Oracle employees who have existing access to Partner Workgroups. 3. Enhanced Training Manager Functionality The existing Training Manager has been enhanced to allow partners to create Workgroups that are either focused on the competency requirements for becoming Specialized or the competency requirements needed to apply for resell authorization. • PHP remote development workflow: git, symfony and hudson

  I'm looking to develop a website and all the work will be done remotely (no local dev server). The reason for this is that my shared hosting company a2hosting has a specific configuration (symfony,mysql,git) that I don't want to spend time duplicating when I can just ssh and develop remotely or through netbeans remote editing features. My question is how can I use git to separate my site into three areas: live, staging and dev. • De-index URL parameters by value

  Upon reading over this question is lengthy so allow me to provide a one sentence summary: I need to get Google to de-index URLs that have parameters with certain values appended I have a website example.com with language translations. There used to be many translations but I deleted them all so that only English (Default) and French options remain. When one selects a language option a parameter is aded to the URL. For example, the home page: https://example.com (default) https://example.com/main?l=fr_FR (French) I added a robots.txt to stop Google from crawling any of the language translations: # robots.txt generated at http://www.mcanerin.com User-agent: * Disallow: Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /*?l= So any pages containing "?l=" should not be crawled. I checked in GWT using the robots testing tool. It works. But under html improvements the previously crawled language translation URLs remain indexed. The internet says to add a 404 to the header of the removed URLs so the Googles knows to de-index it. I checked to see what my CMS would throw up if I visited one of the URLs that should no longer exist. This URL was listed in GWT under duplicate title tags (One of the reasons I want to scrub up my URLS) https://example.com/reports/view/884?l=vi_VN&l=hy_AM This URL should not exist - I removed the language translations. The page loads when it should not! I played around. I typed example.com?whatever123 It seems that parameters always load as long as everything before the question mark is a real URL. So if Google has indexed all these URLS with parameters how do I remove them? I cannot check if a 404 is being generated because the page always loads because it's a parameter that needs to be de-indexed.

• Could not calculate upgrade from Maverick Meerkat to Natty Narwhal

  I upgraded from Ubuntu Lucid Lynx to Maverick Meerkat with the following commands: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install update-manager-core sudo vi /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and changed the last line to Prompt=normal sudo do-release-upgrade -d This upgrade was OK. I decided to repeat the same steps and to upgrade Maverick Meerkat to Natty Narwhal. It ended with this message: Building data structures... Done Calculating the changes Calculating the changes Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: Can not mark 'xubuntu-desktop' for upgrade This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. • How to Transpose Rows and Columns in Excel 2013

  You’ve setup your worksheet with all your row and column headings and you’ve entered all your data. Then, you discover that it would look better if the rows were the columns and the columns were the rows. How do you accomplish this easily? There is an easy way to convert your rows to columns and vice versa using the Transpose feature in Excel. We’ll show you how. Select the cells containing the headings and data you want to transpose. Click Copy or press Ctrl + C. Click in a blank cell on the spreadsheet. This cell will be the top, left corner of the new table of data. Click the down arrow on the Paste button and select Paste Special from the drop-down menu. On the Paste Special dialog box, select the Transpose check box so there is a check mark in the box and click OK. The rows become the columns and the columns become the rows. The original set of data still exists. You can select those cells and delete the headings and data, if desired. Isn’t that a lot easier and faster than retyping all your data?

• Do you think natively compiled languages have reached their EOL?

  If we look at the major programming languages in use today it is pretty noticeable that the vast majority of them are, in fact, interpreted. Looking at the largest piece of the pie we have Java and C# which are both enterprise-ready, heavy-duty, serious programming languages which are basically compiled to byte-code only to be interpreted by their respective VMs (the JVM and the CLR). If we look at scripting languages, we have Perl, Python, Ruby and Lua which are all interpreted (either from code or from bytecode - and yes, it should be noted that they are absolutely not the same). Looking at compiled languages we have C which is nowadays used in embedded and low-level, real-time environments, and C++ which is still alive and kicking, when you want to get down to serious programming as close to the hardware as you can, but still have some nice abstractions to help you with day to day tasks. Basically, there is no real runner-up compiled language in the distance. Do you feel that languages which are natively compiled to executable, binary code are a thing of the past, taken over by interpreted languages which are much more portable and compatible? Does C++ mark an end of an era? Why don't we see any new compiled languages anymore? I think I should clarify: I do not want this to turn into a "which language is better" discussion, because that is not the issue at hand. The languages I gave as example are only examples. Please focus on the question I raised, and if you disagree with my statement that compiled languages are less frequent these days, that is totally fine, I am more than happy to be proved mistaken.

• Ubuntu One Sync as a File Backup Solution?

  I was hoping to utilize Ubuntu One and in particular, the syncing feature within Ubuntu One to provide offsite backup for some of my files. My intention was to mark any of my folders that have important files as 'folders to synchronize' to Ubuntu One. It works great in that whenever an important file is placed in the folder, the file is copied up to Ubuntu One (hence creating a backup). However, if any of these important files are lost or accidently deleted from my computer then due to the synchronization it is also immediately deleted from Ubuntu One. This approach does not work very well to provide backup. On one hand I really like the automatic way in which the synch feature will upload any of my important files to Ubuntu One but on the other hand if I lose the file on my computer it will likely be taken off of the cloud as well (via synchronization). What approach are others taking to backup their important files to Ubuntu One? I didn't want to have to manually upload my important files to Ubuntu One and remember to upload other important files as they are created on my computer. Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

• Custom Gesture in cocos2d

Although In the rotation class now I only see selectors, how do I set those up?   This question already has an answer here: 'teamviewer depends on (…)' while trying to install TeamViewer 4 answers I was trying to install Teamviewer, but i was getting a dependencies error. I tried to install them but with no luck.. I think Mod's are not reading the questions trough when they mark as duplicate I'm getting this Error: Unpacking teamviewer (from teamviewer_linux_x64.deb) ... dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of teamviewer: teamviewer depends on lib32asound2; however: Package lib32asound2 is not installed. teamviewer depends on lib32z1; however: Package lib32z1 is not installed. teamviewer depends on ia32-libs; however: Package ia32-libs is not installed. dpkg: error processing teamviewer (--install): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Errors were encountered while processing: teamviewer I tried sudo apt-get -f install but getting Package ia32-libs is not available, but is referred to by another package.   When a Southern “boy” like me sees somebody that used to be, or should be, a close friend or relative that they haven’t seen in a long time, that’s a typical greeting.  Come to think of it, we were often related to close friends. So “back in the day”, we not only knew people but everybody close to them.  When I started driving, my Dad told me to always drive carefully in Polk county.  He said if I ran into anybody there, it was likely they would be related or close family friends. Not so much any more… the cities have gotten bigger and more people come south and stay.  One of the curses of air conditioning I guess. Anyway, it’s been a while.  So “How’s your Momma and them”?  Have you been waiting for me to blog again?  Too bad, I’m back anyway <smile>. Here in Charlotte we just had another great code camp.  The Enterprise Developers Guild is going strong, thanks to the help of a lot of dedicated people.  Mark Wilson, Brian Gough, Syl Walker, Ghayth Hilal, Alberto Botero, Dan Thyer, Jean Doiron, Matt Duffield all come to mind.  Plus all the regulars who volunteer for every special event we have.   If you haven’t already heard the news, the final release of the Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2010 have been released! That’s great news for Silverlight developers and to top it off the crew up at Microsoft even snuck in a few new features including intellisense for styles (a big deal in my opinion) and the ability to easily manipulate Grid rows and columns.  One of the most time consuming (and boring) tasks experienced by developers is also covered with the new “Go To Value Definition” feature that allows you to jump directly to style definitions with ease.  That feature alone is worth the upgrade especially if you’re working with a large application that uses a lot of styles. • C IDE for Mac needed

  I'm looking for heavy-duty C/C++ IDE for Mac that would satisfy the following criteria: Work with big projects (~5000 files, some of them 100K big) efficiently. Have good navigation both file-based and symbol-based - i.e. "go to file", "go to function" etc. with autocompletion support. Support for "go to declaration/definition" for symbols - functions, structures, etc. Auto-adding new files in folders already in the project. Support for code completion for values, function names, etc. At least rudimentary CPP macro understanding - i.e. #define foo bar then foo() should take me either to #define or to actual bar. I understand full CPP parsing may be hard, but I hope for at least the obvious cases. Support for displaying parameter names/types by function name, preferably - integrated with the previous item, for functions defined in the project. Support for libc would be nice too :) (optional) Cross-project search support (I can manage with grep -r if everything else works) (optional) SVN support, at least to some extent (update, commit, mark updated) Is there such editor around? Free would be nice, but I'm ready to part with some money if it's good enough. I'm using TextMate now but I'm not satisfied with it. Tried Xcode but it seems to not be able to handle a large project - it just crashed...
