  • Best tool for monitoring Coldfusion interoperability with .Net web service

    Is there a tool to see the message sent to webservice hosted on an IIS server? I have a webservice written in .Net and our ColdFusion people are having trouble building a "complex" parameter. This problem is described from a ColdFusion perspective at: adobe forum question It runs when called from a .net client. While hosted on a server inside our LAN, I put it out on a public server so the WSDL could be viewed: please take a quick look at this WSDL here When the CF developer runs her code, she gets: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch ...and I am wondering if there is a tool I could run on the server that hosts my webservice to see if it is even entering the WS or is being rejected by Java code that CF uses and is not really even getting to my webservice.

  • Why do you have to call URLConnection#getInputStream to be able to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream?

    I'm trying to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream, however, no data is actually sent until I call URLConnection#getInputStream. Even if I set URLConnnection#doInput to false, it still will not send. Does anyone know why this is? There's nothing in the API documentation that describes this.     I want to use position (returned from a gridview for e.g.) or a similar numeric integer to do various things, e.g. create a sprite, or in any command that wants something other than a number, e.g. I want to use something like: sprites.add(createSprite(R.drawable.image(position)); , where createSprite creates a sprite using the image supplied, instead of: if (position == 1) {sprites.add(createSprite(R.drawable.image1);} if (position == 2) {sprites.add(createSprite(R.drawable.image2);} ...etc There is an easy solution for strings: Most efficient method to use position to open a .java but what about for situations like this one?

  • Serving large generated files using Google App Engine?

    Hiya, Presently I have a GAE app that does some offline processing (backs up a user's data), and generates a file that's somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10 - 100 MB. I'm not sure of the best way to serve this file to the user. The two options I'm considering are: Adding some code to the offline processing code that 'spoofs' it as a form upload to the blob store, and going thru the normal blobstore process to serve the file. Having the offline processing code store the file somewhere off of GAE, and serving it from there. Is there a much better approach I'm overlooking? I'm guessing this is functionality that isn't well suited to GAE. I had thought of storing in the datastore as db.Text or Dd.Blob but there I encounter the 1 MB limit. Any input would be appreciated,

  • Can a custom MFC window/dialog be a template class?

    There's a bunch of special macros that MFC uses when creating dialogs, and in my quick tests I'm getting weird errors trying to compile a template dialog class. Is this likely to be a big pain to achieve?   • Web app implementation question.

    I would like to create a web app similar to Stack Overflow in that the users will have different "point" levels and that their capabilities within the web app will be different based upon their point level. Question: How can this best be implemented? How can it be implemented in a way that is un-hackable (i.e. accessing capabilities that should not be available)? I figure there are two ways to do this: server-side and client-side. For the server-side solution, for each page request you check who the user is and have the CGI rewrite the page so that the client only gets a web page with the intended capabilities. For the client-side solution, the server gives the client the fully capable app and it is the client's job to check the point level and to handicap the app appropriately. It seems like the client-side solution would be easier on the server, (which is really important for my app), but more susceptible to someone hacking and using capabilities unwarranted by their point level.

    I'm creating a PDF file from a txt-template with tcpdf ([Example 8][1]). The txt-template looks like this: SALUTATION FIRSTNAME LASTNAME STREET CURRENTDATE SOMEMOREINFORMATION MYWEBSITE I replace those markers with the correct value. So that it would look like this: Mr. John Doe Downingstreet 10 14th May, 2010 [email protected] www.stackoverflow.com In this example, when I replace the values, the indention of the date is dependent on the length of the street name (which I don't want). I could solve this issue with str_pad but the problem is, I normally use three columns and there are lines which only have content in col1 and col3 as in the last line. How can I solve that problem? Is there something like the "overwrite" function in Word, that when you write, the text just gets overwritten? Thanks in advance.

    The knob on vertical JSlider's on my Windows 7 machine (with native look-and-feel) is really, really tiny in both directions. Not just skinny but short as well. Can anyone confirm this?   • Django Problem - trying to access data entered into a form and feed it through a different page

    OK, so let me give you an overview first. I have this site and in it there is a form section. When you access that section you can view or start a new project. Each project has 3-5 different forms. My problem is that I don't want viewers to have to go through all 3-5 pages to see the relevant information they need. Instead I want to give each project a main page where all the essential data entered into the forms is shown as non-editable data. I hope this makes sense. So I need to find a way to access all that data from the different forms for each project and to feed that data into the new page I'll be calling "Main". Each project will have a separate main page for itself. I'm pretty much clueless as to how I should do this, so any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

    I'm building three web applications in .NET that will all share a users database and login information. Lets pretend that application 1 is the "parent" application and applications "A" and "B" are the "child" applications. All users have to be logged into application 1 to have access to applications A and B. Authorization, Authentication, and MachineKey sections of all web configs are present and work correctly. I have the correct web.config settings in all applications to achieve Single Sign On except one problem remains: what do I put in the "loginUrl" attribute of the forms tag in Applications A and B. Assume that the url for the login to application 1 is "www.johnsapp.com/login.aspx" How can I get applications A and B to send the user back to application 1 for authentication using only settings in web.config?

    I am creating an winform application that will run on a tablet PC. One form for this app will have a listview control. I would like to allow the user to change the font size based on preference (ie did they remember their glasses today). A few ways that I can think of would be a numeric-up-down or +/- button controls. Both of these ways require screen real estate that is very limited. Is there a control or technique that would allow font size changes with a hidden-when-not-used control?

  • How easy would it be to refactor a small JSP/Servlet/JDBC project to SpringMVC/Hibernate

    With reference to this post, I am considering starting a new web-based Java project. Since I don't know Spring/Hibernate I was concerned if it's a bad plan to start learning them while creating a new project, especially since it will slow down the early development. One idea I had was to write a prototype using tech I do know, namely JSP/Servlets/JDBC, since I can get this running much quicker with my current knowledge. I could then throw the whole thing away and start over with Spring, etc, but I'd like to consider how easy it would be to refactor a smallish project from JSP/Servlets/JDB to SpringMVC/Hibernate? My DB could of course be re-used but what about other code... would I expect to save most of it plugged into an MVC framework, or is the paradigm shift big enough this would cause more trouble than it avoids? Please use the other question for more general advice on choosing technologies

  • How can I detect when the .NET Framework feature is "turned off" in Windows 7 / Vista?

    My application requires the .NET Framework version 3.5. I recently ran into a customer that had the .NET Framework installed but turned off on Windows Vista (also applies to Windows 7). In this case, my installer (InstallShield 2009) does not prompt the user to install the Framework (because it is already installed) and when my application runs it crashes immediately. I tried another .NET application and it also crashes immediately. Is there any way to detect this situation and handle it more gracefully? Just detecting this during install is not ideal since the .NET Framework can be turned off at any time. Ideally, the application would be able to check and display a friendly message to the user telling them they need to turn on the .NET Framework. EDIT: "Turning off" the .NET Framework in Windows Vista or Windows 7 is not the same as uninstalling it.     I have a matlab structure array Modles1 of size (1x180) that has fields a, b, c, ..., z. I want to understand how many distinct values there are in each of the fields. i.e. max(grp2idx([foo(:).a])) The above works if the field a is a double. {foo(:).a} needs to be used in the case where the field a is a string/char. Here's my current code for doing this. I hate having to use the eval, and what is essentially a switch statement.   • OSGi bundle imports packages from non-bundle jars: create bundles for them?

    I am new to OSGi, and am using Equinox. I have done several searches and can find no answer to this. The discussion at OSGI - handling 3rd party JARs required by a bundle helps somewhat, but does not fully answer my question. I have obtained a jar file, rabbitmq-client.jar, that is already packaged as an OSGi bundle (with Bundle-Name and other such properties in its MANIFEST.MF), that I would like to install as a bundle. This jar imports packages org.apache.commons.io and org.apache.commons.io.input from commons-io-1.2.jar. The RabbitMQ client 2.7.1 distribution also includes commons-cli-1.1.jar, so I presume that it is required as well. I examined the manifests of these commons jars and found that they do not appear to be packaged as bundles. That is, their manifests have none of the standard bundle properties. My specific question is: if I install rabbitmq-client.jar as a bundle, what is the proper way to get access to the packages that it needs to import from the commons jars? There are only three alternatives that I can think of, without rebuilding rabbitmq-client.jar. The packages from the commons jars are already included in the Equinox global classpath, and rabbitmq-client.jar will get them automatically from there. I must make another bundle with the two commons jars, export the needed packages, and install that bundle in Equinox. I must put these two commons jars in the global classpath when I start Equinox, and they will be available to rabbitmq-client.jar from there. I have read that one normally does not use the global classpath in an OSGi container. I am not clear on whether items from the global classpath are even available when building individual bundle classpaths. However, I note that rabbitmq-client.jar also imports other packages such as javax.net, which I presume come from the global classpath. Or is there some other bundle that exports them?   • How do I use grep to extract a specific field value from lines

    I have lines in a file which look like the following ....... DisplayName="john" .......... where .... represents variable number of other fields. Using the following grep command, I am able to extract all the lines which have a valid 'DisplayName' field grep DisplayName="[0-9A-Za-z[:space:]]*" e:\test However, I wish to extract just the name (ie "john") from each line instead of the whole line which is returned by grep. I tried pipelining the output to the cut command but it does not accept string delimiters.

  • Problems opening large csv file

    I have a csv file that is 100mb in size. I need to parse some data out of it into a new format. I tried PHP, but keep running into memory issues. After around the first 150 "rows" or so, the script poops out. This is even on the localhost, and doing everything I can to tune the PHP settings, including max_memory and script_execution_time. Now before I continue, I'd like to know if Python will poop out on me too. Or if I will have to use C++. Can someone name good csv libraries for for these programmin langueage? The file is quoted csv. I mean scheiza I can't even open this text file in OpenOffice without it dying on me. (then again, Java sux as bad as PHP)
