• Aspnet_merge error has no detail

  I have been attempting to add a Deployment Project to my web app. When I build it, I get a message "An error occurred when merging assemblies: Exception from HRESULT: 0x806D0004". There is no other detail, like ILMerge error, or Duplicate Name. I have "verbosity" set to "Diagnostic", and this is the output: Command: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v8.0\aspnet_merge.exe "\...XXX...\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\XXX_deploy\Debug" -o XXX_deploy -debug -copyattrs The "AspNetMerge" task is using "aspnet_merge.exe" from "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v8.0\aspnet_merge.exe". I have tried running the command via the Command prompt, but it does not give any additional information. I have also removed EVERYTHING from the project, including references, style sheets, forms, tableadapters. I still have a web.config, but deleted all app-specific lines. I added a single new form named Default. I have even tried renaming that form to DefaultX, just in case there was another Default out there. I still get the error. What else can I look for? • What is the scope of CONTEXT_INFO in SQL Server?

  I am using CONTEXT_INFO to pass a username to a delete trigger for the purposes of an audit/history table. I'm trying to understand the scope of CONTEXT_INFO and if I am creating a potential race condition. Each of my database tables has a stored proc to handle deletes. The delete stored proc takes userId as an parameter, and sets CONTEXT_INFO to the userId. My delete trigger then grabs the CONTEXT_INFO and uses that to update an audit table that indicates who deleted the row(s). The question is, if two deletes sprocs from different users are executing at the same time, can CONTEXT_INFO set in one of the sprocs be consumed by the trigger fired by the other sproc? I've seen this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189252.aspx but I'm not clear on the scope of sessions and batches in SQL Server which is key to the article being helpful! I'd post code, but short on time at the moment. I'll edit later if this isn't clear enough. Thanks in advance for any help.

• Writing an efficient cron job script utilizing Zend_Mail_Storage_Imap.

  I'm new to the IMAP protocol and Zend_Mail_Storage and I'm writing a small php script for a cron job that should regularly poll an IMAP account and check for new messages, and send an e-mail if new messages have arrived. As you can imagine, I want to only poll the IMAP account for relevant messages, and I only want to send a new e-mail if new messages have arrived since the last polled new message. So I thought of keeping track of the last message I polled with some unique identifier for a message. But I'm a bit uncertain about whether the methods I want to utilize for this do what I expect them to do though. So my questions are: Does the iterator position of Zend_Mail_Storage_Imap actually resemble some IMAP unique identifier for messages, or is it simply only and internal position of Zend_Mail_Storage_Abstract? For instance, if I tell it to seek() to message 5 (which I stored from an earlier session) will it indeed seek to the appropriate message on the IMAP server, even if for instance messages have been deleted since last session? Would keeping track of this latest polled message id in a file suffice for a cron job that, say, polls the account every 5 or 10 minutes? Or is this too naive, and should I be using a database for instance. Or is there maybe a much easier way to keep track of such state with Zend_Mail_Storage_Abstract? Also, do I need to poll every IMAP folder? Or is everything accumulated when I poll INBOX? If you could shed some light on any of these matters, I'ld appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

• Castle MonoRail ARDataBind trying to bind to non-existent row

  I have a shopping cart application running on MonoRail and using Castle ActiveRecord/NHibernate, and there is a ShoppingCart table and a ShoppingCartItems table, which are mapped to entities. Here's the scenario: a user adds things to the shopping cart, say 5 items, and goes to view the cart. The cart shows all 5 items. the user duplicates the tab/window and gets another tab of the same cart (call it tab B). the user removes an item from the cart, so now there are 4 items in tab B, but in the original tab A, there are still 5 items. the user goes back to tab A, and updates something in the cart and clicks the "update" button which submits the changes. my MonoRail action tries to do an ARDataBind on ShoppingCartItems using the data from the view, which includes all 5 items. when it gets to the item that the user deleted from tab B, it throws a "No row with the given identifier exists" for that item. I can't figure out if there is a way to have it not bind that row, return null, return new instance, etc.? there is an AutoLoadBehavior parameter on the ARDataBind attribute, but that appears to only affect loading of child entities, and not the root entity. regardless of which option I choose, I get the exception before control even enters the action method (except AutoLoadBehavior.Never, but that doesn't really help me). instead, I have code that calls Request.ObtainParamsNode() to pull the form nodes and parse them manually into objects, and ignores the ones that no longer exist. is there a better way? thanks.

• socket problem with MySQL

  This is a recent problem... MySQL was working and a couple of days ago I must have done something. I deleted MySQL and tried reinstalling using the .dmg file. The mysql.sock file never gets created and I get the following error messages: Hristo$ mysql Enter password: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) I also tried stopping Apache and installing but Apache gave me an error... I don't know if this is good or bad: Hristo$ sudo apachectl stop launchctl: Error unloading: org.apache.httpd I tried the MacPorts installation as well but the socket file still didn't get created. I don't really know what to do and I don't want to reinstall Snow Leopard and start from scratch :/ I also tried installing the 32-bit version and same deal. No luck. Finally... I tried doing the source installation but when I get to the configuration step, I get the following error: -bash: ./configure: No such file or directory The file is "mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x86_64.tar.gz" so I think it is the proper file for source installation and yes I have a 64 bit system. I don't know what to do anymore. Any ideas? Thanks, Hristo

• Updating CoreData xcdatamodel file troubles - attribute type change

  I noticed several questions related to this topic go unanswered. Is this such a gray area that nobody really understands it? Here is my problem: I am a midway in the development of my app and the app has never been used ouside of my iphone simulator.One of the attributes in my core data structure requires a type change.Since my app has never been used outside of my iPhone Simulator, I first deleted the sqlite file. Doubling the effort of this step, I also went into iPhone Simulator menu and selected "Reset Content and Settings...". Than, I edited the xcdatamodel file and changed the type of my attribute. I saved the file and exited. Without any other changes, I compiled. I expected it to fail because of my type change. It did not! After this, I assigned a value with new type to my attribute and it fails to compile?! Is there something else that I need to do for the change to take an effect? I would really, really appreciate an answer to my question. Thank you!

  Hello there, I am trying to develop a GWT app with the MVP pattern. So far so good except for one specific case of actions: actions that do not change the url (no browser history change). In the GWT MVP pattern, events are sent from presenters, the an app controller catches them and update the browser history. If the history has changed then the view updates. ** MVP with history change (Works well)** Current URL is /list User clicks on contactdelete button. Fire DeleteContactAction event. App controller catches, change history to 'delete' onValueChange is called if (token.equals("delete")) delete contact screen, then delete contact Fire ContactDeletedEvent app controller catches and change the history to list onValueChange is called: contact list refreshes GWT MVP pattern for dialog box w/o history changes ** Issue ** - I use a dialog box and I don't want to change the browser history, so here is the problem: Current URL is /list User clicks on contactdelete button. Contact is deleted Fire ContactDeletedEvent. App controller catches, change history to 'list' **onValueChange is NOT called** because url is already /list and there is no change # problem: contact list does not refresh Question: does anyone know a pattern to implement this in the context of MVP? Any help / idea appreciated.

Clicking the LinkButton doesn't work. I get a postback and the grid is shown as empty and no record is deleted. Seems like an empty databinding. I have tried to create a custom OnClick, OnCommand event for the LinkButton, but neither are fired. The OnRowCommand isn't fired either. I don't manually DataBind in the codebehind.

• Core Data Migration - "Can't add source store" error

  Hi, In my iPhone app I'm using Core Data and I've made changes to my data model that cannot be automatically migrated over (i.e. added new relationships). I added the data model version (Design - Data Model - Add Model Version) and applied my new data model changes to the new version 2. I then created a mapping object model and set the Source and Destination models to their correct data models (old and new respectively). When I run the app and call the persistentStoreCoordinator, my app barfs with the following: 2010-02-27 02:40:30.922 XXXX[73578:20b] Unresolved error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134110 UserInfo=0xfc2240 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 134110.)", { NSUnderlyingError = Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134130 UserInfo=0xfbb3a0 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 134130.)"; reason = "Can't add source store"; } FWIW (not much i think) I've also made the usual code changes in persistentStoreCoordinator to use the NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption and NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption (for future data model changes that can be automatically migrated). More relevantly, my managedObjectModel is created by calling initWithContentsOfURL where the file/resource type is "momd". I've tried updating both the source and destination model in the mapping model (Design - Mapping Model - Update XXX Model) as well as deleted the mapping model and recreated it. I've cleaned and re-built but all to no avail. I still get the above error message. Any pointers/thoughts on how I can further debug or resolve this problem please? I haven't posted any code snippets because this feels much more like a build environment issue (and my code is very standard - just the usual core data code to handle migrations using a mapping model but I'm happy to show the code if it helps). • Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files.   Please refer to question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2062852/resume-in-upload-file-control Now to find a solution for the above question, I want to work on it and develop a user control which can resume a HTTP File Upload process. For this, I'm going to create a temporary file on server until the upload is complete. Once the uploading is done completely then will just save it to the desired location. The procedure I have thought of is: Create a temporary file with a unique name (may be GUID) on the server. Read a chunk of file and append it to this temp file on the server. Continue step 1 to 3 until EOF is reached. Now if the connection is lost or user clicks on pause button, the writing of file is stopped and the temporary file is not deleted. Clicking on resume again or uploading the same file again will check on the server if the file exists and user whether to resume or to overwrite. (Not sure how to check if it's the same file. Also, how to step sending the chunks from client to server.) Clicking on resume will start from where it is required to be uploaded and will append that to the file on the server. (Again not sure how to do this.) Questions: Are these steps correct to achieve the goal? Or need some modifications? I'm not sure how to implement all these steps. :-( Need ideas, links... Any help appreciated...

  Hello everyone, I'm using soft deleting in my database (IsDeleted field). I'm actively using LoadWith and AssociateWith methods to retrieve and filter nested records. The thing is AssociateWith only works with properties that represents a one-to-many relationship. DataLoadOptions loadOptions = new DataLoadOptions(); loadOption.LoadWith<User>(u = > u.Roles); loadOption.AssociateWith<User>(u = > u.Roles.Where(r = > !r.IsDeleted)); In the example above I just say: I want to retrieve users with related (undeleted) roles. But when I have one-to-one relationship, e.g. Document - File (the only one file is related to the document) I'm unable to filter soft deleted object: DataLoadOptions loadOptions = new DataLoadOptions(); loadOption.LoadWith<Document>(d = > d.File); // the next certainly won't work loadOption.AssociateWith<File>(f = > !f.IsDeleted); So, is there any idea how to filter records within the one-to-one relationship? • Don't Understand Sql Server Error

  I have a table of users (User), and need to create a new table to track which users have referred other users. So, basically, I'm creating a many-to-many relation between rows in the same table. So I'm trying to create table UserReferrals with the columns UserId and UserReferredId. I made both columns a compound primary key. And both columns are foreign keys that link to User.UserID. Since deleting a user should also delete the relationship, I set both foreign keys to cascade deletes. When the user is deleted, any related rows in UserReferrals should also delete. But this gives me the message: 'User' table saved successfully 'UserReferrals' table Unable to create relationship 'FK_UserReferrals_User'. Introducing FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FK_UserReferrals_User' on table 'UserReferrals' may cause cycles or multiple cascade paths. Specify ON DELETE NO ACTION or ON UPDATE NO ACTION, or modify other FOREIGN KEY constraints. Could not create constraint. See previous errors. I don't get this error. A cascading delete only deletes the row with the foreign key, right? So how can it cause "cycling cascade paths"? Thanks for any tips.

• Nexus One & Windows XP USB Driver

  I've been unable to get my Nexus One working as a development phone on Windows XP. I've got the driver (revision 3 for N1 support), I've got it installed according to the official installation guide, and the phone appears in the Device Manager just as the guide says it should. However, adb still can't find the phone. 'adb devices', for example, returns no active devices. Am I forgetting some basic step? One thing I've noticed is that the driver is labeled in Windows as version 2 released November, 2009 (I need version 3 from January 2010 for N1 support). However, I've never had version 2 installed. I've used the SDK to download version 3 several times - even deleted it and redownloaded it. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the version 3 driver multiple times. It still says version 2. Is this the problem, or this something completely unrelated? Note: The phone is working as a dev phone on Ubuntu, so I know the phone/cable/etc. are good. It's either my fault or the driver's.

• Large scale storage for incrementally-appended documents?

  I need to store hundreds of thousands (right now, potentially many millions) of documents that start out empty and are appended to frequently, but never updated otherwise or deleted. These documents are not interrelated in any way, and just need to be accessed by some unique ID. Read accesses are some subset of the document, which almost always starts midway through at some indexed location (e.g. "document #4324319, save #53 to the end"). These documents start very small, at several KB. They typically reach a final size around 500KB, but many reach 10MB or more. I'm currently using MySQL (InnoDB) to store these documents. Each of the incremental saves is just dumped into one big table with the document ID it belongs to, so reading part of a document looks like "select * from saves where document_id=14 and save_id 53 order by save_id", then manually concatenating it all together in code. Ideally, I'd like the storage solution to be easily horizontally scalable, with redundancy across servers (e.g. each document stored on at least 3 nodes) with easy recovery of crashed servers. I've looked at CouchDB and MongoDB as possible replacements for MySQL, but I'm not sure that either of them make a whole lot of sense for this particular application, though I'm open to being convinced. Any input on a good storage solution?

• XML Schema Migration

  I am working on a project where we need to save data in an XML format. The problem is, over time we expect the format / schema for our data to change. What we want to be able to do is to produce scripts to migrate our data across different schema versions. We distribute our product to thousands of customers so we need to be able to run / apply these scripts at customer sites (so we can't just do the conversions by hand). I think that what we are looking for is some kind of XML data migration tool. In my mind the ideal tool could: Do an "XML diff" of two schema to identify added/deleted/changed nodes. Allow us to specify transformation functions. So, for example, we might add a new element to our schema that is a function of the old elements. (E.g. a new element C where C = A+B, A + B are old elements). So I think I am looking for a kind of XML diff and patch tool which can also apply transformation functions. One tool I am looking at for this is Altova's MapForce . I'm sure others here have had to deal with XML data format migration. How did you handle it? Edit: One point of clarification. The "diff" I plan to do is on the schema or .xsd files. The actual changes will be made to particular data sets that follow a given schema. These data sets will be .xml files. So its a "diff" of the schema to help figure out what changes need to be made to data sets to migrate them from one scheme to another.

And in main page bind data using ids in session variable.Gridview - on deleting event i'm deleting that id from session and on deleted event updating both user control using a refresh method (Country1.Refresh()) and gridview panel. But updatepanel is not getting updated and even modalpopup is also not getting refreshed. What could be wrong here? Even though update and refresh events are fired and executed, why is page not getting updated?

• MS SQL SELECT stored procedure according to combobox.selectedvalue

  Hello, In order to fill a datagridview according to the selectedvalue of a combobox I've tried creating a stored procedure. However, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing it, depending on the WHERE statement at the end of my stored procedure, either returns everything within the table or nothing at all. • Proper way to cleanup dynamic engines and can they be loaded twice?

  Hello - I am having problems loading Engine PKCS #11 as a dynamic engine using python and M2Crypto. I am trying to access an Aladdin USB eToken. Here are the important steps from my python code: dynamic = Engine.load_dynamic_engine("pkcs11", "/usr/local/ssl/lib/engines/engine_pkcs11.so") pkcs11 = Engine.Engine("pkcs11") pkcs11.ctrl_cmd_string("MODULE_PATH", "/usr/lib/libeTPkcs11.so") pkcs11.engine_init_custom() # initialize engine with custom M2Crypto patch # next few steps which I deleted pass password and grab key & cert off token Engine.cleanup() This works fine the first time this method gets run. The second time, it fails when loading the dynamic engine (see error below). Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in ? Am I missing some kind of engine cleanup/deletion? The OpenSSL docs talk about engine_finish() but I don't think M2Crypto offers that. Is there a method to tell if the engine is already loaded? • Exception thrown on secondary workflow

  Hi All, I am running a workflow fired when a new list item is created, the workflow creates a new task item and sends an email. This works fine. I have another workflow fired when a task item is modified, when I try and modify the task item and click complete an exception: I have checked the recycle bin and the item asscociated with the workflow is not there, i have deleted all items for the recycle bin but still get the error...
