• JustCode Q1 SP1 –Typing Assistance Improvements

Our goal is to make JustCodes typing assistance save keystrokes, without getting in your way. As such, typing assistance received quite a few changes for SP1. It now works faster, and better than ever :) Bracket Completion When you add an open bracket at the beginning of a line, JustCode will now add the closing bracket for you at the end of the line, even if there is code. When you hit enter, the auto formatter will run. Prevents Bracket Doubling The SP1 release now does its best to prevent you from doubling parenthesis, braces, and brackets. Instead of doubling up these items up, it will move your cursor outside the closing item. Auto Format on Semi-Colon, and Close Bracket JustCode now automatically runs the auto formatter when you press semi-colon, or add a closing bracket at the end of a line. Auto Completion of Singe & ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Tagging Objects in the AppFabric Cache

In two of my previous entries I outlined functionality and patterns used in the AppFabric Cache. In this entry I wanted to expand and look at another area of functionality that people have come to expect when working with cache technology. This expectation is the ability to tag content with more information than just the key. As you start to examine this expectation you will soon find yourself asking if the tagged data can be related to each other and finally if it is possible...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Archiving your contact form data.

I get TONS of email from customer. Over time, this email helps me to determine what areas in our product collection are opportunities for enhancement or improvement. I store the email that comes from my blog contact form in folders and then search through them looking for trends periodically. It occurred to me that, while I need to get the emails because many of them are actionable, it would be great if I could use reporting and analysis tools against the collection. So I whipped together...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. • RIA Services and Entity Framework POCOs

WCF RIA Services contains a special domain service for entity framework which will automatically be used if you use the Domain Service template in Visual Studio. This winter I tried the template with a few projects. One of them had EntityObjects and the other had POCO entities. The EntityObjects worked great, but the POCO entities didn’t work at all. The bulk of the problems were based on the fact that the EntityDomainService used methods from the first version of Entity Framework that relied...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Using the RadTransitionControl in Task-It

Download Source Code NOTE: To run the source code provided your will need to update to the RC (release candidate) versions of Silverlight 4 and VisualStudio 2010. In a recent Ask the Experts webinar I showed a simple solution that had similarities to one that I had used in my recent MVVM post, but had a few extra twists on it. I have since been asked if I could post the source code for this demo, so here it is (I am using similar techniques in my Task-It application). The database Before running the code for this app you will need to create the database. First, create a database called MVVMProject in SQL Server, then run MVVMProject.sql in the MVVMProjectDemo/Database directory of your downloaded .zip file. This should give you a Task table with 3 records in it. You will also need to update the connection string in web.config to point to your database ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • A tale of two viewports — part one
