  • Google Chrome doesn't want to access Facebook

    I have been experiencing a bit of a problem with Chrome over the last couple of days where it doesn't want to access Facebook. When I open Chrome it works fine for a while and then if I were to refresh the page it would give me the Chrome 'This webpage is not available' message. This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later. Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using. Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again. If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu Options Under the Hood Change proxy settings... LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox. This problem only persists when using the proxy and doesn't occur at all when not on the proxy. I have also tried different browsers (IE9 and Firefox 9.01) but it doesn't occur in any of them. This problem goes away for a while when I restart Chrome, only to happen again a couple of minutes later. I have tried deleting the cookies for Facebook without restarting Chrome, but to no avail. I am using Windows7 with Chrome 17

  • Monitoring whether Google Apps email address is reachable

    Backstory: I bungled things a bit the other day, and inadvertantly deleted the DNS overrides for my domain including the MX records that point to Google Apps, causing 2 days of lost emails. What I want: I want to be able to monitor the email address/account so that I can be alerted if for any reason something has gone wrong and emails aren't arriving. Thoughts: I was thinking there might be a way to test the email without having to send an actual message. Does this exist? This wouldn't help if the DNS has reset itself to a different mailserver would it? The other idea was sending periodic emails to check the address it working. How would you automate this? You'd need to somehow check that the email address had arrived as well as checking if it had bounced. Are there any scripts that exist that would do something like this? What would be the best method? Maybe a combination of checking that the MX records for the domain are set to what they're supposed to be set to, and sending automatic test emails to check that things are still functioning on the Google Apps end?

    I am using a Custom Attribute to define how a class's members are mapped to properties for posting as a form post (Payment Gateway). I have the custom attribute working just fine, and am able to get the attribute by "name", but would like to get the attribute by the member itself. For example: getFieldName("name"); vs getFieldName(obj.Name); The plan is to write a method to serialize the class with members into a postable string.   • Search and highlight html - ignoring and maintaining tags

    I am looking for a good way to highlight key words in a block of html with stripping the html tags. I can regex to search for key words within html tags, but I haven't found a great way to search across tags. For example, if the key word phrase is "not bound" I want to be able to make this <p>I am not<strong>bound to please thee</strong> with my answers.</p> become wrapped in highlight tags, without breaking the "strong" tag (and making the html invalid) and become: <p>I am <span class="highlight">not</span><strong><span class="highlight">bound</span> to please thee</strong> with my answers.</p> The main issue is maintaining the html as it is AND wrapping blocks of text with highlight tags. I need to maintain the original html. Otherwise I would strip the tags. The best solution to this that I can think of right now would entail making a copy of the html and placing counter tokens where each space occurs, then stripping all tags and search for matching phrases, then looking back to the original and the tokenized strings and figuring out where to start building the highlight tags, then start walking forward, starting and ending highlight spans as needed from the beginning of the match until the end. This seems like overkill. I would like to something more elegant if possible. The solution would be written in C# or perhaps javascript, depending.

    I'm looking for a way to read document properties in C#. I've heard about dsofile.dll, but it seems like an old COM wrapper, and was wondering if there is something more modern for the .NET framework/C#. What I'm actually reading is not an office document file, but a Solidworks .SLDDRW file, that has Custom properties. You can view and change these in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the file, and going to the Properties window, Custom tab. Anyone know how to read these custom properties in C# / .NET 3.5? Thanks!

  • How do I get Google Chrome's root bookmarks folder?

    Hi, I'm trying to write a better bookmark manager in chrome extensions. The problem is there are no simple examples (that I can find) about how to actually use the bookmarks api (available here: http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions/bookmarks.html ) I've looked at the example source (when I d/led and installed it on my computer it didn't do anything except provide a search box. Typing/typing and pressing return failed to do anything) and can't find anything useful. My ultimate goal is to make an extension that allows me to save pages to come and read later without having to go sign up for an account on some service somewhere. So I plan to create either one or two bookmark folders in the root folder/other bookmarks - at minimum an "unread pages" folder. In that folder I'll create the unread bookmarks. When the user marks the item as read, it will be removed from that folder. So that's what I'm trying to do... any help will be greatly appreciated, even if it's just pointing me to some good examples.     Does anyone know if its possible to send out custom http REQUEST headers in HTML without having to use javascript (no xhr wrapper). Would it be possible to define them as meta tags within the head? Or may they be defined in the form somewhere? <meta http-equip="x-something-custom" name="custom value" /> this works, however, this is a RESPONSE header. What I need to set a REQUEST header. I'm not looking for setting hidden fields in forms, but actual raw http header manipulation with html tags. Is this possible?

    Hi there, I am working with Google Analytics - Goals and Funnels for quite sometime, but one thing is is not clear for me. I would very much appreciate if you could help me. We are advertising on several sites rotating several different ads. Our main goal is to collect as many sign-ups (new users) as possible for as low price as possible. We use to advertise the way, that each ad has the same URL where to land, but contains different parameter (e.g. http://www.brautpunkt.de/?ref=fb01 or ..... .de/?ref=adw03). My question is: If I am looking at the goals (Goals Overview), filtering it through Advanced Segments (Landing Page contains /?ref=fb01) is this subset of goals done only by the users who registered in the same session after they came on our site directly from the ad? or also by those users who came first time through this ad (/?ref=fb01), didn't register in the same session but came directly for example on the other day and register than?     I am trying to add iptables rule to allow traffic on ports 465 & 587 to google apps smtp servers. But I got not luck. My WHMCS installation works fine with google apps when I turn off iptables but iptables turn on itself again and email stop working. Please add rules to allow traffic from port 465 and 587. I want to set a value for the same.   • Wordpress custom post_type templates

    We are currently working on a Wordpress page that reuses data from another Application. To keep things clean, but still use most wordpress features, we decided to use custom post_type settings (register_post_type) for this data. Now the Problem is, that while accessing these Posts is no problem, the Permalink's to them fail with 404's. We currently work around this issue by adding an action to the "template_redirect" hook that essentially performs a query_posts for the name and our custom types. If query_posts found something we load our custom post templates with locate_template. Although this is working, it does not look like a clean solution - can anyone here propose a better way to tackle our problems?

    Please help!, Here is my situation: I've been doing business using my current gmail address ([email protected]) and really wanted my mail address to read [email protected], so i looked into google apps. It says you can set up custom emails with your domain name, achieving the above goal, but how do i configure these addresses to run through my CURRENT gmail account?   • keyboard intermittently stops working, even after reinstalling windows 7; possibly a Chrome issue?

    My keyboard intermittently stops working. Sometimes a couple of keys will work, but usually none. Sometimes if I mash a couple of the ctrl+alt+windows type keys randomly for a bit, the keyboard will let me type one more letter before stopping again. Sometimes the keys will open a program menu, but usually not. I have even completely wiped my machine and reinstalled windows 7; the problem continues. Specs: Intel iMac (early 2006, 2.0GHz, 2MB RAM, 240GB HD) running ONLY Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit (NOT through boot camp) and using a USB keyboard (Saitek Eclipse II.) *Unplugging & reconnecting keyboard does NOT fix it. *Connecting a different keyboard does NOT fix it. That one won't work, either. *Drivers are up-to-date. Removing and reinstalling drivers does NOT fix it. *Restarting the computer does NOT fix it. In fact, when the Windows logon screen appears, they keyboard won't work, and neither will the icon to pull up the on-screen keyboard. Otherwise my mouse can click around just fine. I can only log onto a non-password protected account. *Generally, logging into as different Windows user fixes it. I can then log back on to my main user account and continue work for a few hours until it happens again. *Clearing my Chrome browsing data stopped the problem from recurring for a week or so. *I use Avira free antivirus software, and repeated scans turn up nothing fishy. *I have already REINSTALLED Windows 7 (not just a restore.) The problem returned after 2 days of use. The only thing I suspect is something in Google Chrome -- I used my google account to reload all my previous Chrome extensions, saved data, etc. (Chrome Extensions Installed: AdBlock, Better Google Tasks, DropBox, FB Photo Zoom, Google Mail Checker, StayFocusd.) Any ideas? Any at all?

  • Looping through Markers with Google Maps API v3 Problem

    I'm not sure why this isn't working. I don't have any errors, but what happens is, no matter what marker I click on, it clicks the 3rd one (which is the last one out of 4 markers. Array starts at 0, obviously) and shows the number "3", which is correct for THAT one, but I'm not clicking that one.   • C# Custom Control Properties load before Load and arrays are empties

    Hello, I made a custom control with custom properties. When I modify these properties in the "Form.cs [Design]", I need stuff to happens (it fill some arrays and modify the look of the control), so I call a function within the "set" of the property. All of this works good. My problem is that when I run the program with my custom control, it seems that properties "set" is called, which will call the function, but then, my arrays seems now to have lost all their values and the function use these arrays, but now because they are all empty, it crashes due to NullException blahblahblah. It also seems that properties "set" is called before the control Load (which I guess is called only when it is added to my Form, and not when the Form load). So question is, why does my arrays become empty once I try to run the Form and is there an event that is called before that when the Form load? Thanks

But now I wonder what is the best way to include some jQuery or some Javascript code packed into my custom tag definition. What is the regular way to include a custom library into my code? For example: {% faceboxify item %} So assume that it'll create a specific HTML output for Facebox plugin. I just want to learn some elegant way to import this plugin into my code. I want the above definition to be enough for all functionality. Is there any way to do it? I couldn't find any example. Maybe I'm missing something.. Thank you.

I've followed the author's advice to the letter, but it doesn't seem like any of the script I add to my background page is being executed at all.   • Google Chrome no longer treats " Web Apps" specially

    I'm running Google Chrome (Dev Channel), with the --enable-apps flag, in both OSX and Ubuntu. I have four or five WebApps installed, and they appear in the "New Tab" page just fine. The problem is that, before, when the feature first became available in the Dev Channel, the actual tabs hosting the webapps received special treatment; they would have 3D Dock-like look, and (more importantly) the tab bar would be hidden while using that tab. Sometime in the last few weeks, however, it seems that the special treatment just disappeared with one of the daily updates. The webapps still show up in the New Tab page, they still work in the sense that they capture all URLs going to that webapp, and they use the right icons; but they've basically become indistinguishable from just a regularly pinned tab. The two special features mentioned above have disappeared, on both Ubuntu and OS X. My questions are simply: a) Does this happen to anyone else? When exactly did it begin? b) Why did Google regress the feature? c) Is there any flag I can enable to get it back?

I was able to get Hibernate Search to work without Spring, but I'm having a problem integrating it with Spring. Any help would be much appreciated.   • Google analytics ignoring "required step" in goals

    I am A/B testing a landing page to see which converts better. The funnels are set up exactly the same in terms of the goal completion URL and funnel steps, with one exception: the first step (which is a required step) has a different URL to represent each of the two landing pages. Unfortunately, Google is tracking a conversion for both of these goals regardless of which landing page a user is reaching! It looks like the "required step" is broken...perhaps it is a deeper issue if others haven't noticed it, such as it only not working when the goal URL is the same between multiple goals. Here is an example of what I mean. Goal 1: Goal URL: /users/dashboard (head match) Funnel: 1. /homepages/index1 (required step) 2. /users/register 3. /users/edit Goal 2: Goal URL: /users/dashboard (head match) Funnel: 1. /homepages/index2 (required step) 2. /users/register 3. /users/edit As you can see, the only difference is step #1 of the funnel. Since I am A/B testing the landing page of the site, this should be the only difference. However, when I look at the goal page of Google Analytics, I see that the goal is being recorded for both of these regardless of the landing page being reached. The only tinkering I've done is attempting to wrap each funnel step's goal in ^ and $ characters for an exact regular expression match, but this didn't make a difference. Thoughts?

    Hi Stackoverflow! I'm currently building a Surface application where the main navigation is a circular menu. For each menu item I'm using a custom control that I found on codeproject.com: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/PieChartDataBinding.aspx (PiePiece control) The number of submenu items (which is also piepiece controls) comes from a database and thus dynamically loaded. What I can't figure out is how I add a textblock to this custom control to display the submenu item text. It needs to follow the PiePiece's RotationAngle property to line up correctly. Anyone got a hot-fix for this? I was thinking about adding another dependencyproperty to the piepiece custom control, but that way I can't set the font-family, size etc (can I?) Any input on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Extending / changing how Zend_Search_Lucene searches

    Hi, I am currently using Zend_Search_Lucene to index and search a number of documents currently at around a 1000 or so. What I would like to do is change how the engine scores hits on a document, from the current default. Zend_Search_Lucene scores on the frequency of number of hits within a document, so a document that has 10 matches of the word PHP will score higher than a document with only 3 matches of PHP. What I am trying to do is pass a number of key words and score depending on the hits of those keywords. e.g. I pass 5 key words say,PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML and CSS that I search against the index. One document has 3 matches to those key words and one document has all 4 matches, the 4 matches scores the highest. The number of instances of those words in the document do not concern me. Now I've had a quick look at Zend_Search_Lucene_Search_Similarity however I have to confess that I am not sure (or that bright) to know how to use this to achieve what I am after.   • Jquery Ajax Search on pressing return key in Internet Explorer

    Hi I have found the following code to create a search on my site - this works really well the only problem is in Internet Explorer the search doesn't work when you press the return key. Does anybody have any ideas?
