  • Munin email notification

    - by Prashanth
    I am trying to get munin to notify me via email. I have configured munin and it reports critical and warning values but no alerts are being sent neither is any script being called. Can you please help me out with this? I have included part of the munin.conf below # Drop [email protected] and [email protected] an email everytime # something changes (OK -> WARNING, CRITICAL -> OK, etc) #contact.someuser.command mail -s "Munin notification" [email protected]\ contact.prashanth.command echo "Munin notification" | sendmail -t [email protected] contact.prashanth.always_send warning critical contact.root.command echo "Munin notification" | sendmail -t [email protected] contact.root.always_send warning critical contact.pipevia.command | /home/prashanth/script.sh /home/prashanth/script.sh None of this works. What am i missing here and why are emails not being sent? Thanks in advance. here is the munin-limits.log 2011/09/26 14:58:12 Opened log file 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [INFO] Starting munin-limits, getting lock /var/run/munin/munin-limits.lock 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 722. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 725. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 740. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 754. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 759. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $text in length at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 774. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $res[3] in join or string at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 777. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 722. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 725. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 740. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 754. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 759. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $text in length at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 774. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $res[15] in join or string at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 777. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 722. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 725. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 740. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 754. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 759. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $text in length at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 774. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $res[1] in join or string at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 777. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 722. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 725. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 740. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 754. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $a[0] in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 759. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $text in length at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 774. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [PERL WARNING] Use of uninitialized value $res[1] in join or string at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/LimitsOld.pm line 777. 2011/09/26 14:58:12 Baz? 2011/09/26 14:58:12 [INFO] munin-limits finished (0.02 sec) 2011/09/26 14:58:12 Command "prashanth" stderr: Munin notification - this is a test mail from the user prashanth | sendmail -t [email protected]

  • Joining an Active Directory domain using netdom

    - by Cheezo
    I have a simple script to join an AD domain and rename the computer. When I execute these commands directly on the CLI, it works fine. When I execute the same via batch file, I get an error saying The network path was not found I am running as Administrator with full privileges. I have googled around microsoft forums but my case is unique because it works from the CLI and not from the batch file netdom join %%computername%% /domain:OPSCODEDEMO.COM /userd:Administrator /passwordd:xxx netdom renamecomputer %%computername%% /NewName:%hostname% /Force The environment is Windows 2k8 R2 SP1 running on Ninefold Cloud (Xenserver).

  • Query doesn't use a covering-index when applicable

    - by Dor
    I've downloaded the employees database and executed some queries for benchmarking purposes. Then I noticed that one query didn't use a covering index, although there was a corresponding index that I created earlier. Only when I added a FORCE INDEX clause to the query, it used a covering index. I've uploaded two files, one is the executed SQL queries and the other is the results. Can you tell why the query uses a covering-index only when a FORCE INDEX clause is added? The EXPLAIN shows that in both cases, the index dept_no_from_date_idx is being used anyway. To adapt myself to the standards of SO, I'm also writing the content of the two files here: The SQL queries: USE employees; /* Creating an index for an index-covered query */ CREATE INDEX dept_no_from_date_idx ON dept_emp (dept_no, from_date); /* Show `dept_emp` table structure, indexes and generic data */ SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE "dept_emp"; DESCRIBE dept_emp; SHOW KEYS IN dept_emp; /* The EXPLAIN shows that the subquery doesn't use a covering-index */ EXPLAIN SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM dept_emp INNER JOIN ( /* The subquery should use a covering index, but isn't */ SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE emp_no, dept_no FROM dept_emp WHERE dept_no="d001" ORDER BY from_date DESC LIMIT 20000,50 ) AS `der` USING (`emp_no`, `dept_no`); /* The EXPLAIN shows that the subquery DOES use a covering-index, thanks to the FORCE INDEX clause */ EXPLAIN SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM dept_emp INNER JOIN ( /* The subquery use a covering index */ SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE emp_no, dept_no FROM dept_emp FORCE INDEX(dept_no_from_date_idx) WHERE dept_no="d001" ORDER BY from_date DESC LIMIT 20000,50 ) AS `der` USING (`emp_no`, `dept_no`); The results: -------------- /* Creating an index for an • ASP.Net: Insert null DateTime

    - by Vinzcent
    Hey I'am using a SQLDatasource in combination with a Formview. When I want to insert or update a DateTime that has no value, I always get an error. How do you insert a DateTime null. My SQLDataSource <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqldsDetailOrder" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:csBookStore %>" SelectCommand="SELECT 'AUTHOR' = tblAuthors.FIRSTNAME + ' ' + tblAuthors.LASTNAME, tblBooks.*, tblGenres.*, tblLanguages.*, tblOrders.* FROM tblAuthors INNER JOIN tblBooks ON tblAuthors.AUTHOR_ID = tblBooks.AUTHOR_ID INNER JOIN tblGenres ON tblBooks.GENRE_ID = tblGenres.GENRE_ID INNER JOIN tblLanguages ON tblBooks.LANG_ID = tblLanguages.LANG_ID INNER JOIN tblOrders ON tblBooks.BOOK_ID = tblOrders.BOOK_ID WHERE tblOrders.ID = @ID" DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM [tblOrders] WHERE [ID] = @ID" InsertCommand="INSERT INTO [tblOrders] ([NAME], [ADDRESS], [CITY], [PC], [DATE], [BOOK_ID], [COUNT], [AMOUNT], [DELIVERED], [DDATE], [PAID], [PDATE]) VALUES (@NAME, @ADDRESS, @CITY, @PC, @DATE, @BOOK_ID, @COUNT, @AMOUNT, @DELIVERED, @DDATE, @PAID, @PDATE)" UpdateCommand="UPDATE [tblOrders] SET [NAME] = @NAME, [ADDRESS] = @ADDRESS, [CITY] = @CITY, [PC] = @PC, [DATE] = @DATE, [BOOK_ID] = @BOOK_ID, [COUNT] = @COUNT, [AMOUNT] = @AMOUNT, [DELIVERED] = @DELIVERED, [DDATE] = @DDATE, [PAID] = @PAID, [PDATE] = @PDATE WHERE [ID] = @ID"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="gvOrdersAdmin" Name="ID" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> <DeleteParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="ID" Type="Int32" /> </DeleteParameters> <UpdateParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="NAME" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ADDRESS" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="CITY" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PC" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="BOOK_ID" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="COUNT" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="AMOUNT" Type="Decimal" /> <asp:Parameter Name="DELIVERED" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DDATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PAID" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="PDATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ID" Type="Int32" /> </UpdateParameters> <InsertParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="NAME" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ADDRESS" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="CITY" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PC" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="BOOK_ID" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="COUNT" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="AMOUNT" Type="Decimal" /> <asp:Parameter Name="DELIVERED" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime?"   • Samba networking with a domain-joined computer

    - by MCS
    I have two computers connected to the same linksys router - one running Ubuntu 8.04 and one running Windows 7. The Windows computer is part of a work domain (when connected via VPN). I'm trying to also create a home network so I can access the linux server from Windows. From what I understand, I have to first create a Windows workgroup and then configure Samba on linux to join the Windows network. So in Windows, I went to Control Panel - Network and Internet - HomeGroup and got the following message: There is currently no homegroup on your network. Because this computer also belongs to a domain, you can't create your own homegroup, but can join one created by someone on your network. Can I use Samba to create a homegroup? Is there any other way to create a Windows workgroup? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

  • Adding and using a Domain Admin during OSD, in MDT

    - by user195296
    So during my Windows 7 OSD. Going by Company Politics I'm suppose to A: Disabled the standardlized Administrator (Done, can do that in task sequence) B: Create a new Administrator called 'ITadmin' and set a fixed password C: Join a Domain (Done that aswell in the Task Sequence) D: Use a Domain Admin to install programs that would otherwise give problems if attempted to install through Local Admin, like Dynamics AX As written I join the computer to the Domain During the OSD, and as Result have the correct Domain Admins added as Administrators through GPO, but I don't know how to use them. I'm looking at CustomSettings.ini in the MDT pack and thinking its gotta be possible to do it from here? or from the unattend.xml in pseudo here is what I wanna Add: AddLocalAdmin: ITadmin Password: 1234 UseThisAccountToInstallOSD: Domain\Install_User Password: 1234 Any help appreciated, can't seem to google my way out of this one.

  • .NET application per-machine/per-user licensing

    - by MainMa
    I am about to implement a very basic licensing feature for my application. A serial number may be granted per-machine (or per-operating-system) or per-user (as for CAL in Windows Server: if my application is used by several users on one machine or if it is used by one user on several machines). For per-operating-system licensing, I use SerialNumber of Win32_OperatingSystem. For per-user licensing, I use: WindowsIdentity currentIdentity = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(); if (currentIdentity != null) { SecurityIdentifier userSid = currentIdentity.User.AccountDomainSid; Console.WriteLine(userSid); } A hash of an obtained OS serial number or SID is then stored in the database, associated with application serial; each time the program starts, it queries the server, sending hash of OS SN/SID and application serial. Is it a right thing to do it or is it completely wrong? Will it work on every Windows machine? (For example, using motherboard serial is wrong)

  • how to effectively modify index

    - by daedlus
    Hej everyone, problem : I am looking for right way to convert an index from clustered to non-clustered Description : I have a table as below in sybase db: dbo.UserLog Id | UserId |time | .... This is hash partitioned using UserId. Currently it has 2 indexes UserId : non-clustered time: clustered This table has about 20 million records. I now want to make UserId as clustered index and time as non-clustered index. is it correct to user alter index to change from clustered to non-clustered or do i drop index and recreate. does the fact that userId is used in hash partitioning have any implications to this? To me alter seems way to go but I have not yet tried this.

  • 8021x wireless clients auto connect prior to user login

    - by JohnyV
    I am using a 2008 r2 dc that also performs Radius (NPS), I also have a 2008 r2 certificate authority which is giving out certificates. The computers are getting the certificate and when a user logs into the device (that has previously logged in) gets put on the correct VLAN (according to there user access). However I cant get the computers to join the wireless network prior to logging in, so that they can log in with their domain accounts and authenticate through the wireless. The basic setup is Computer gets group policy which tells it to get a certificate the computer then has a seperate vlan to join just as a computer account however the wireless computer wont connect through that vlan. (this vlan allows login information only then once the users credentials are verified it puts them onto another VLAN). So I am trying to work out why the notebook wont auto connect to the wireless network as a computer. Thanks

  • ExtJS 4.1: FocusManager.enable prevents stopping click event

    - by jacob
    If FocusManager is enabled, then Menu item href click handlers can not be stopped. This causes the native click handler to complete and navigate the location hash to '#'. If FocusManager is not enabled, it does not change the hash. I tried overriding Ext.menu.Item to call evt.stopEvent if href is null. However, it looks like the EventManager.createListenerWrap() method totally hides the actual browser event and replaces it with an EventObject focus event. What's the correct solution here? Thanks.

  • Multi serial devices on one port

    - by adopilot
    I am developing one software for managing parking lot. System is designed to use four HID RFID devices for authorization clients on gates. Each device should be connected to server by Serial port RS232. Now I wondering is there some device or method to join all that devices on one device and after that to I have only one RS232 cable connected to server. My problem is in that RFID card readers are simple (stupid) devices and there I am not able to change anything, but Ill like to know from which specific device is coming input. What Ill want to do with that new device which need to join four readers is to add suffix or prefix to string that sent from RFID card reader. So I can identify device that is sending card number to my server. I am developing my system on Win platforms.

  • How to create a asp.net membership provider hashed password manually?

    - by Anheledir
    I'm using a website as a frontend and all users are authenticated with the standard ASP.NET Membership-Provider. Passwords are saved "hashed" within a SQL-Database. Now I want to write a desktop-client with administrative functions. Among other things there should be a method to reset a users password. I can access the database with the saved membership-data, but how can I manually create the password-salt and -hash? Using the System.Web.Membership Namespace seems to be inappropriate so I need to know how to create the salt and hash of the new password manually. Experts step up! :)

  • How can I efficiently group a large list of URLs by their host name in Perl?

    - by jesper
    I have text file that contains over one million URLs. I have to process this file in order to assign URLs to groups, based on host address: { 'http://www.ex1.com' = ['http://www.ex1.com/...', 'http://www.ex1.com/...', ...], 'http://www.ex2.com' = ['http://www.ex2.com/...', 'http://www.ex2.com/...', ...] } My current basic solution takes about 600 MB of RAM to do this (size of file is about 300 MB). Could you provide some more efficient ways? My current solution simply reads line by line, extracts host address by regex and puts the url into a hash. EDIT Here is my implementation (I've cut off irrelevant things): while($line = <STDIN>) { chomp($line); $line =~ /(http:\/\/.+?)(\/|$)/i; $host = "$1"; push @{$urls{$host}}, $line; } store \%urls, 'out.hash';

  • Returning a DOM element with Webdriver in Javascript

    - by ehmicky
    How do I return a DOM Element with Webdriver in Javascript? I am using the wd.js Javascript bindings: require("wd") .remote("promiseChain") .init() .get("http://www.google.com") .elementById("mngb") .then(function(element) { console.log(element); }); I am getting this weird object that is not a standard DOM Element (for example I cannot get the HTML code out of it): { value: '0', browser: { domain: null, _events: {}, _maxListeners: 10, configUrl: { protocol: 'http:', slashes: true, auth: null, host: '127.0.0.1:4444', port: '4444', hostname: '127.0.0.1', hash: null, search: '', query: {}, pathname: '/wd/hub', path: '/wd/hub', href: 'http://127.0.0.1:4444/wd/hub' }, sauceRestRoot: 'https://saucelabs.com/rest/v1', noAuthConfigUrl: { protocol: 'http:', slashes: true, host: '127.0.0.1:4444', port: '4444', hostname: '127.0.0.1', hash: null, search: null, query: null, pathname: '/wd/hub', path: '/wd/hub', href: 'http://127.0.0.1:4444/wd/hub' }, defaultCapabilities: { browserName: 'firefox', version: '', javascriptEnabled: true, platform: 'ANY' }, _httpConfig: { timeout: undefined, retries: 3, retryDelay: 15, baseUrl: undefined }, sampleElement: { value: 1, browser: [Circular] }, sessionID: '238c9837-3d82-4d90-9594-cefb4ba8e6b9' } }

  • Need help on Coda slider tabs to move inside an overflow:hidden div

    - by Reden
    I'm not too good at javascript. and hope I can get a bit of help. I'm using Coda Slider 2.0, and have designed it to where the tabs are another slider to the right of the main slider, and each item. Basically like this mootools plugin http://landofcoder.com/demo/mootool/lofslidernews/index2.1.html Problem is the items will not scroll. How do I make the items (or tabs to the right) scroll down as the slider rotates? Otherwise the slider will show the 4th slide but not scroll to the 4th item on the right, but Thanks everyone. Here is the Coda-Slider plugin: // when the DOM is ready... $(document).ready(function () { var $panels = $('#slider .scrollContainer > div'); var $container = $('#slider .scrollContainer'); // if false, we'll float all the panels left and fix the width // of the container var horizontal = true; // float the panels left if we're going horizontal if (horizontal) { $panels.css({ 'float' : 'left', 'position' : 'relative' // IE fix to ensure overflow is hidden }); // calculate a new width for the container (so it holds all panels) $container.css('width', $panels[0].offsetWidth * $panels.length); } // collect the scroll object, at the same time apply the hidden overflow // to remove the default scrollbars that will appear var $scroll = $('#slider .scroll').css('overflow', 'hidden'); // apply our left + right buttons $scroll .before('<img class="scrollButtons left" src="images/scroll_left.png" />') .after('<img class="scrollButtons right" src="images/scroll_right.png" />'); // handle nav selection function selectNav() { $(this) .parents('ul:first') .find('a') .removeClass('selected') .end() .end() .addClass('selected'); } $('#slider .navigation').find('a').click(selectNav); // go find the navigation link that has this target and select the nav function trigger(data) { var el = $('#slider .navigation').find('a[href$="' + data.id + '"]').get(0); selectNav.call(el); } if (window.location.hash) { trigger({ id : window.location.hash.substr(1) }); } else { $('ul.navigation a:first').click(); } // offset is used to move to *exactly* the right place, since I'm using // padding on my example, I need to subtract the amount of padding to // the offset. Try removing this to get a good idea of the effect var offset = parseInt((horizontal ? $container.css('paddingTop') : $container.css('paddingLeft')) || 0) * -1; var scrollOptions = { target: $scroll, // the element that has the overflow // can be a selector which will be relative to the target items: $panels, navigation: '.navigation a', // selectors are NOT relative to document, i.e. make sure they're unique prev: 'img.left', next: 'img.right', // allow the scroll effect to run both directions axis: 'xy', onAfter: trigger, // our final callback offset: offset, // duration of the sliding effect duration: 500, // easing - can be used with the easing plugin: // http://gsgd.co.uk/sandbox/jquery/easing/ easing: 'swing' }; // apply serialScroll to the slider - we chose this plugin because it // supports// the indexed next and previous scroll along with hooking // in to our navigation. $('#slider').serialScroll(scrollOptions); // now apply localScroll to hook any other arbitrary links to trigger // the effect $.localScroll(scrollOptions); // finally, if the URL has a hash, move the slider in to position, // setting the duration to 1 because I don't want it to scroll in the // very first page load. We don't always need this, but it ensures // the positioning is absolutely spot on when the pages loads. scrollOptions.duration = 1; $.localScroll.hash(scrollOptions); /////////////////////////////////////////////// // autoscroll /////////////////////////////////////////////// // start to automatically cycle the tabs cycleTimer = setInterval(function () { $scroll.trigger('next'); }, 2000); // how many milliseconds, change this to whatever you like // select some trigger elements to stop the auto-cycle var $stopTriggers = $('#slider .navigation').find('a') // tab headers .add('.scroll') // panel itself .add('.stopscroll') // links to the stop class div .add('.navigation') // links to navigation id for tabs .add("a[href^='#']"); // links to a tab // this is the function that will stop the auto-cycle function stopCycle() { // remove the no longer needed stop triggers clearInterval(cycleTimer); // stop the auto-cycle itself $buttons.show(); // show the navigation buttons document.getElementById('stopscroll').style.display='none'; // hide the stop div document.getElementById('startscroll').style.display='block'; // block the start div } // bind stop cycle function to the click event using namespaces $stopTriggers.bind('click.cycle', stopCycle); /////////////////////////////////////////////// // end autoscroll /////////////////////////////////////////////// // edit to start again /////////////////////////////////////////////// // select some trigger elements to stop the auto-cycle var $startTriggers_start = $('#slider .navigation').find('a') // tab headers .add('.startscroll'); // links to the start class div // this is the function that will stop the auto-cycle function startCycle() { // remove the no longer needed stop triggers $buttons.hide(); // show the navigation buttons $scroll.trigger('next'); // directly to the next first cycleTimer = setInterval(function () { // now set timer again $scroll.trigger('next'); }, 5000); // how many milliseconds, change this to whatever you like document.getElementById('stopscroll').style.display='block'; // block the stop div document.getElementById('startscroll').style.display='none'; // hide the start div } // bind stop cycle function to the click event using namespaces $startTriggers_start.bind('click.cycle', startCycle); /////////////////////////////////////////////// // end edit to start /////////////////////////////////////////////// });

  • C# application per-machine/per-user licensing

    - by MainMa
    Hi, I am about to implement a very basic licensing feature for my application.

  • Is this an example of polymorphism?

    - by computer-science-student
    I'm working on a homework assignment (a project), for which one criterion is that I must make use of polymorphism in a way which noticeably improves the overall quality or functionality of my code. I made a Hash Table which looks like this: public class HashTable<E extends Hashable>{ ... } where Hashable is an interface I made that has a hash() function. I know that using generics this way improves the quality of my code, since now HashTable can work with pretty much any type I want (instead of just ints or Strings for example). But I'm not sure if it demonstrates polymorphism. I think it does, because E can be any type that implements Hashable. In other words HashTable is a class which can work with (practically) any type. But I'm not quite sure - is that polymorphism? Perhaps can I get some clarification as to what exactly polymorphism is? Thanks in advance!

  • Optimizing a Soundex Query for finding similar names

    - by xkingpin
    My application will offer a list of suggestions for English names that "sound like" a given typed name. The query will need to be optimized and return results as quick as possible. Which option would be most optimal for returning results quickly. (Or your own suggestion if you have one) A. Generate the Soundex Hash and store it in the "Names" table then do something like the following: (This saves generating the soundex hash for at least every row in my db per query right?) select name from names where NameSoundex = Soundex('Ann') B. Use the Difference function (This must generate the soundex for every name in the table?) select name from names where Difference(name, 'Ann') = 3 C. Simple comparison select name from names where Soundex(name) = Soundex('Ann') Option A seems like to me it would be the fastest to return results because it only generates the Soundex for one string then compares to an indexed column "NameSoundex" Option B should give more results than option A because the name does not have to be an exact match of the soundex, but could be slower Assuming my table could contain millions of rows, what would yield the best results?

  • Modify url for bookmarking using JavaScript

    - by jamesaharvey
    I'm exploring my options for modifying urls in the browser bar for bookmarking purposes. Ideally, I'd like to add querystring parameters and cannot determine if this is even possible. I don't want the page to refresh and want to add querystring values on link clicks, ajax calls, etc. If I can't add querystring parameters, then I'd like to add hash values (http:://someurl.com#hash-value). How should I go about doing this? Should I use plain JavaScript or a framework (jquery, prototype, etc.) and/or framework plugin.
