  • NSFetchedResultsController crashing on performFetch: when using a cache

    I make use of NSFetchedResultsController to display a bunch of objects, which are sectioned using dates. On a fresh install, it all works perfectly and the objects are displayed in the table view. However, it seems that when the app is relaunched I get a crash. I specify a cache when initialising the NSFetchedResultsController, and when I don't it works perfectly. Here is how I create my NSFetchedResultsController: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)results { // If we are not nil, stop here if (results != nil) return results; // Create the fetch request, entity and sort descriptors NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Event" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; NSSortDescriptor *descriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"utc_start" ascending:YES]; NSArray *descriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:descriptor, nil]; // Set properties on the fetch [fetch setEntity:entity]; [fetch setSortDescriptors:descriptors]; // Create a fresh fetched results controller NSFetchedResultsController *fetched = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetch managedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"day" cacheName:@"Events"]; fetched.delegate = self; self.results = fetched; // Release objects and return our controller [fetched release]; [fetch release]; [descriptor release]; [descriptors release]; return results; } These are the messages I get when the app crashes: FATAL ERROR: The persistent cache of section information does not match the current configuration. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'FATAL ERROR: The persistent cache of section information does not match the current configuration. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName:' I really have no clue as to why it's saying that, as I don't believe I'm doing anything special that would cause this. The only potential issue is the section header (day), which I construct like this when creating a new object: // Set the new format [formatter setDateFormat:@"dd MMMM"]; // Set the day of the event [event setValue:[formatter stringFromDate:[event valueForKey:@"utc_start"]] forKey:@"day"]; Like I mentioned, all of this works fine if there is no cache involved. Any help appreciated!

    Hi There, i have a very simple table with a Datetime column and i have this mapping in my domain object. MyDate is the name of the datetime column in the DB. public virtual int Day { get; set; } public virtual int Month { get; set; } public virtual int Year { get; set; } public virtual int Hour { get; set; } public virtual int Minutes { get; set; } public virtual int Seconds { get;set; } public virtual int WeekNo { get; set; } Map(x => x.Day).Formula("DATEPART(day, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Month).Formula("DATEPART(month, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Year).Formula("DATEPART(year, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Hour).Formula("DATEPART(hour, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Minutes).Formula("DATEPART(minute, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Seconds).Formula("DATEPART(second, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.WeekNo).Formula("DATEPART(week, Datetime)"); This is working all great .... but Week Datepart. I saw with NHProf the sql generating for a select and here's the problem it's generating all the sql correctly but for week datepart.. this is part of the SQL generated: ....Datepart(day, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(month, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(year, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(hour, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(minute, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(second, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(this_.week, MyDate) ... where this_ is the alias for the table that nhibernate uses. so it's treating the week keyword for the datepart stuff as a column or something like that. To clarify there's no column or properties that is called week. some help ? cheers Alessandro

The same happens to days and months but obviously it doesn't make any difference in this particular case as the values would start from 1 anyway. How can I fix this - and why does it happen?

    Hi Everyone, I have a date_select field in my rails application as follows: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed %> I would like to re-order the drop down lists show they output as: DD/MM/YYYY According to what I have read you can use the :order option, but I am unsure how to actually use this option: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed, :order = {:day, :month, :year} %> Obviously this isn't right, but what am I supposed to put in place of the: :day, :month, :year Any help would be appreciated! What I want to do is, by default every user's session cookie lasts for example 1 day, but every time user visits the site his session expiration time is extended by one more day. I don't know if it is a good idea to do this, maybe I should just set cookies life time for like a week and that's it? Thanks!

    Simple question, I think. I have org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.CronTriggerBean triggering one job once a day. Because this method can last a long time (over 24 hours), will the next day at the same time a new job be executed if the last one is not ended yet? If yes - is it possible to turn off executing new jobs until the last one is finished? My method is trans-coding videos and some days there a lot of videos and could last long.

Sometimes I have repeating events, stored as weekly repeating, so if the date is 6-10-10, and I am repeating an event every two weeks from that day (including that day) what is the best way to find dates for every two weeks from 6-10-10? For example, let's say the date is 7-8-10, how can I check to see that date meets my criteria?
