    I have multiple custom controls used on a ASPX (and C#) page registered from within the page rather than in Web.Config. On the first build (or rebuild), build fails with error messages for wherever I've used the custom controls. Subsequent builds are successful. The error message: Unknown server tag 'prefix:ExampleControl'. What might cause this, and how can I fix it?   • Performance problem with System.Net.Mail

    I have this unusual problem with mailing from my app. At first it wasn't working (getting unable to relay error crap) anyways I added the proper authentication and it works. My problem now is, if I try to send around 300 emails (each with a 500k attachment) the app starts hanging around 95% thru the process.   • ASP.NET MVC 2: Mechanics behind an Order / Order Line in a edit form

    In this question I am looking for links/code to handle an IList<OrderLine> in an MVC 2 edit form. Specifically I am interested in sending a complete order to the client, then posting the edited order back to an object (to persist) using: Html.EditorFor(m = m.orderlines[i]) (where orderlines is an enumerable object) Editing an Order that has multiple order lines (two tables, Order and OrderLine, one to many) is apparently difficult. Is there any links/examples/patterns out there to advise how to create this form that edits an entity and related entities in a single form (in C# MVC 2)? The IList is really throwing me for a loop. Should I have it there (while still having one form to edit one order)? How could you use the server side factory to create a blank OrderLine in the form while not posting the entire form back to the server? I am hoping we don't treat the individual order lines with individual save buttons, deletes, etc. (for example, they may open an order, delete all the lines, then click cancel, which shouldn't have altered the order itself in either the repository nor the database.     Is there any way to create a multidinensional array that contains arrays of different lengths (similar to nesting arrays of different lengths in python). Because if I were to declare a variable Dim accounts(2,2) As Integer all 1D arrays at each dimension have the same length. Is there any way to create an array so that this is not the case? e.g The above code would create an array like this: [[0,0],[0,0]] but would it be possible to create this: [[0,0],[0,0,0]] Apologies for the poor explanation but I cannot think of any better ways to explain.

    Is it possible to utilize MVC 2 from MonoDevelop 2.2 (using Mono 2.4)? If so - is it as simple as grabbing a reference to the new System.Web.Mvc or is there something else to consider? I realize that any templating support in MonoDevelop may not be 100% there since it was built to utilize MVC v1 (at least as of MonoDevelop 2.2). If anyone can add any other tips or tricks that would help as well.

  • ASP .NET MVC; return HTML along with JavaScript

    I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.

I have not found any other questions on Disqus and BlogEngine.NET.   • Strange WndProc bug in .Net. VB.Net more specifically.

    ETA: I use visual studio 2008 express edition. If I override WndProc and mess up somehow, I'll usually backtrack by commenting out code until it works again. The strange thing with WndProc though is you can strip it down to: Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As System.Windows.Forms.Message) MyBase.WndProc((m)) End Sub and it still throws the error. I have to remove the code and retype it in to reset the error. Anyone else experienced this?

    Hi, I created a user control that has a template container. <cc:SearchResultItem ID="SearchResultItem1" Customer='<%# ((Customer)(((RepeaterItem)Container).DataItem)) %>' runat="server"> <NameTemplate> <%# Container.Name %> </NameTemplate> </cc:SearchResultItem> This is control is placed in a repeater which lists some customers. The customer is than bound to the user control. When the name template is instantiated in the container, the customer object is not yet available, but I need to access its name because it needs to get parsed before. protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (nameTemplate != null ) { // customer is null here, it is avaiable only after Page_Init... NameContainer container = new NameContainer(customer.Id, Parse(customer.Name)); nameTemplate.InstantiateIn(container); placeHolder.Controls.Add(container); } } Question: How can I access properties set for the user control BEFORE the template container is instantiated?   • Realtime progress of AJAX call (asp.net)

    Hi... I'm trying to make a progress bar that updates the user on the progress of the AJAX call. My immediate thinking was that I need an AJAX call to start a thread on the server, allowing the starting AJAX call to finish, and allowing the thread to send updates back to the user. For the purpose of simplicity, disregard the actual progress bar functionality (I was thinking of implementing one of those JS bars, with fancy colors and effects ;), but if I can get an update from the thread, then updating a simple JS progress bar becomes trivial ;) ) I just need a few pointers on how to accomplish this, if anyone could oblige me? ;)

  • How to get all active parameters in ASP.NET MVC (2)

    Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?

    I have a form which a user can fill in x times with the data they want too. The form is posted to the following Action. [HttpPost] public ActionResult Manage(ProductOptionModel DataToAdd) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { return View(DataToAdd); } var ProdServ = new ProductService(); if (DataToAdd.ID != 0) { //Edit Mode. DataToAdd = ProdServ.EditProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "Option Changes Made"; }else { //Add DataToAdd = ProdServ.AddProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "New Option Added"; } var RetModel = new ProductOptionModel() {ProductID = DataToAdd.ProductID}; return View(RetModel); } So at the bottom I blank the model (Leaving just the required field) and then return to the view. However the view holds the data from the previously submitted form. Any ideas why? I have debugged the code and checked that the RetModel variable is empty.
