  • UIViewController takes up entire screen in Interface Builder

    I have a NIB with a UIView that contains some UILabels, UIButtons etc. and a UIViewController that is loading a detached NIB. I want the UIViewController to be positioned below my UIView, but whenever I add it in Interface Builder it takes up the whole screen, and my UIView becomes part of the UIViewController. How can I make sure UIViewController appears below the UIView?

I have an activity that on it's onCreate method it does: registerForContextMenu(theView); and in onCreateContextMenu: super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, menuInfo); menu.add(blablabla); This works great, but the problem is that the context menu disappears when the screen rotates.     Hi, I'm creating an appwidget, where the user should be able to configure it before it is added to the home screen. To me, PreferenceScreen/PreferenceActivity seems perfect for the task, but the intention behind these classes seem to be configuring an actual application. I've searched, but cannot find any documentation or tutorials which covers this question. Is it possible to configure a widget using these classes, or is the only alternative to configure it through an ordinary view? Thanks for any answers!

    Hello all, I have an instance of a FlowCoverView (a great library that emulates cover flow on the iPhone). And it works great, with the exception of an update. When I update my table behind the scenes, I have no way of telling this control (that is defined in IB) that it has been updated, and to reload. (much like you can with a table using reloadData) To the question, is there a way to replace a control that is on the screen with another control to force the reload?

  • Another Synergy issue: screen lock on Windows Server 2003

    I have set up Synergy on Unix systems with no problems, however when I set up a Synergy server on a Windows Server 2003 box using I get an error message that the mouse cursor is locked when trying to move to the client system. I use a Microsoft Natural keyboard in case that matters (seems Scroll Lock might be involved). Does anyone have experience with using Synergy on Windows systems that have reported mouse screen locking in the log when unable to mouse over to a client system?

  • Triggering jquery event when an element appears on screen

    I want to show a fade effect as soon as the element appears on screen. There is a lot of content before this element so if I trigger the efect on document.ready, at certain resolutions the vistors wont´t see it.     i have a page consisting of devexpress gridview control with 4 columns and 4 asp.net text boxes. on selecting a row in gridview ,it should update the 4 textboxes with the values of the row selected. so i was assigning the value of the rows of the grid to the text box in the custom callback event of the grid and also the value gets assigned to the all textboxes's text property but it doesn't updates the textbox value in the UI screen.

  • Repositioning a label with mouseevents to anywhere on the screen

    I've created a label and used setPixmap to attach a .png image to the label. I've also setWindowFlags to disable the title bar and create a frameless window. Because I've disabled those, it also disables the ability to drag anything around, so I want to create mouseevents (unless there's a better method) to position my label anywhere on the screen exactly like dragging the frame of a window. How would I do that? An example and brief explanation would be greatly appreciated.

    I have put together a Skin for OpenHome but have since ran across AHome code for their IPhone theme and was wondering that if I included for AHome their Dock_Bg or widget_drawer among other things which is not on OpenHome that the Launcher for the respective screen replacement would just call the items it uses.I want to keep the mb as low as I can but reach more handsets.I can just make seperate ones but see many that include even Freshface as well as OpenHome and AHome.

  • Is it smart to take a year off from school to get experience?

    firstly I apologize if this question is not appropriate for the site, but I've seen other similar (though slightly deviant) questions on this sight before and I know the people here are the most qualified to answer my question. Anyways, I'm currently between my sophomore and junior years at a 4 year university, and after a bit of deliberation I've decided on computer science as a major (BA, by the way, as a BS would require me to stay at least an extra year the way our program is set up). I've been interested now in programming for a few months and I've developed a passion for it in a very short time. I began learning C++, migrating to Java recently when I learned my school focuses on this language. Now, I should mention that the concept of higher education has never sat well with me, so part of my motivation for wanting to take time off is to truly challenge myself and see what I can accomplish when I actually try at something. The autodidact in me finds it difficult to focus on my passions while trying to keep a high GPA in unrelated classes. However, I understand the times we live in and therefore would plan to complete my degree after this year. So my question is whether or not the skills I learn in a year off from college could justify the time off from school. Unfortunately, I don't believe I know enough yet to gain any professional experience (internship, etc.) so I would mostly focus my time on learning Java and another language, possibly Wordpress (to gain an understanding of web programming concepts as I have not yet decided what field I want to get into, and to make some money to fund my off-year), and to delve into security concepts, which also interest me. I'm hoping I could work on projects, such as simple applications or contributions to open source software during this time to enhance my resume once I do finish school, so I can find a job out of college easier. I do not want to be the new hire who knows nothing beyond the concepts of his Java textbooks. Does anyone have any input about these thoughts of mine, or any ideas for where I should focus my studies or how high I might set the bar for my work? Thanks a lot everyone!
