    GUI: I changed the permissions of an sh file, so that I can read, write and execute it. I double-clicked it, selected run in Terminal, but it didn't run.     I type echo $PATH on the command line and get /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/Users/andrew/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/local/pear/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin:/opt/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin I'm wondering where this is getting set since my .bash_login file is empty. I'm particularly concerned that, after installing MacPorts, it installed a bunch of junk in /opt. I don't think that directory even exists in a normal Mac OS X install. Update: Thanks to jtimberman for correcting my echo $PATH statement

    I have a large amount of jpeg thumbnail images ranging in size from 120x90 to 320x240 and I would like to classify them as either Real Life-like or Cartoon-like. Are there any applications that will have cartoon classification capabilities? This application should work on Linux, and should take an image path on the command-line and return either 0 or 1 (echo $?).

    When using robocopy windows utility, what flags do I set so that robocopy aborts on the very first error it sees, similar to xcopy /dry command? I need to mirror two dirs, and on occasion some files would be locked. I do not want robocopy to continue trying to copy files, or override the files that are not locked - rather the very first error should stop the whole copy process.

    My most common grep line is just.. grep -IRl "text" * However I'm kinda getting tired of retyping this over and over - is there some way I can make an alias command so that those arguments are always enabled? And, I was wondering what arguments you usually specify for text searching - my two arguments 'R' for recursion, 'I' for not including binary types like jpg/gif, and 'l' for line number seem a bit too minimal.     For some reason my localhost is not recognized. I have this in my hosts file as I've always had: 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost I did do a flushdns, not sure if that caused it. Then I tried a /registerdns in the command prompt. I still have the same issue.

  • Why is the Task Manager Total Physical Memory not 2048 MB or 2 GB

    I found 3 numbers for the Total Physical Memory: In the Task Manager under the Performance tab: 1978 MB In Computer Properties: 2 GB And running wmic computersystem get TotalPhysicalMemory /format:list in the command line: 2074554368 Bites Number 1 matches Number 3 except Number 1 is rounded. When I convert Number 3 to GB 2074554368 / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 I don't quite get 2 GB. I get 1.93207932 GB. Why does Number 1 and Number 3 not match Number 2?
