  • How to display jQuery Dialog on top of YouTube Video/SlideShare PPT?

    We use jQuery modal dialog box to get confirmation from users before they delete an item. The modal dialog works fine as long as there are no YouTube videos on the screen. If there is a YouTube video the dialog box is displayed beneath the video. I tried changing the z-index of dialog to 3999, but no use. (I don't know much about CSS) $('#dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, width: 300, zindex:3999, buttons: { 'Ok': performDelete_dialog, 'Cancel': function(){$(this).dialog('close');} } }); Can some one suggestme what should we do to place jquery dialog box on top of YouTube videos?

  • Play Video on Safari iTouch

    I have a web site that opens iframe for video on page, page uses ajax to pull in videos from selected menu. As expected and understood, on iTouch after selecting video it shows a play button, which brings up video in another screen. However, when the video completes, it returns browser to page prior to one where video was played from. Sequence: - open Page1 - go to Page2 which offers videos to play, in iframe - play video - video completes, returns to Page1, not Page2!! Only happens on iTouch, so must be issue with how control is returned on video completion. Any suggestions? If this is not a known problem, I can work up example (currently, need account on site).   • Flash Buttons Don't Work: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null objec

    I've read through several threads about this error, but haven't been able to apply it to figure out my situation... My flash file is an approx 5 second animation. Then, the last keyframe of each layer (frame #133) has a button in it. My flash file should stop on this last key frame, and you should be able to click on any of the 6 buttons to navigate to another html page in my website. The test movie does stop on the appropriate frame, but the buttons don't do anything (no URL is opened, and the trace statements don't show up in the output box when the buttons are clicked on the test movie). You can view the .swf file here: www.footprintsfamilyphoto.com/portfolio I'm confident that all 6 buttons do exist in the appropriate frame (frame 133), so I don't think that's what's causing the 1009 error. I also tried deleting each of the three function/addEventListener sections one at a time and testing, and I still got the 1009 error every time. If I delete ALL of the action script except for the "stop ()" line, then I do NOT get the 1009 error. Any ideas?? I'm very new to Flash, so if I haven't clarified something that I need to, let me know!

  • Wordpress podcasting with youtube video hosting

    I'm trying to build a site based on Wordpress for a client. Eventually it will be used to publish videos which could be hosted locally, but to reduce costs it would be nicer if we could host all our videos on somewhere like YouTube or Vimeo. I'm looking for a plugin or a way of hacking an existing plugin in order to achieve this. The idea is that when we list a new item on the site, users of iTunes / iPod and any other (more) standards compliant podcatcher should be able to view the video. Ideally I'd like to get away without writing a single line of code, but that may not be possible. The best solution for me is the one which requires the least amount of work!

  • Tricking the server to load files faster?

    If we have a website with multiple images and videos, I've read that it's best to serve them from other domains so that the browser can simultaneously download a bunch of files, rather than waiting one by one for each file to be downloaded. For example, if we have a website http://example.com/, we might consider serving: Videos from http://video.example.com/ Images from http://images.example.com/ etc. Question: can we achieve the simultaneous downloading by tricking the browser into believing that the files are hosted there, or do they actually need to be at that location? We can, for example, pretend to serve video from http://video.example.com/ when actually it's just a clever htaccess rewrite that ACTUALLY serves from http://example.com/video.php. In this case, the video is being served from the main domain but because we refer it as http://video.example.com/, it may think that it's another domain and thus load files simultaneously, rather than one by one. Is this feasible?

  • Microsoft leaning support for VS2010

    OK, I am a big fan of WPF, and while it is large area to fully understand, Microsoft has been great in posting loads of training video at http://windowsclient.net/learn/videos_wpf.aspx However with the release of 2010 it all seams to have gone very quite. I expected a lot of the support to be updated for 2010 and I also expected a lot of new videos on the best way to use the new features in 2010. Currently I find myself working through videos based on 2008 (or even 2005) and trying to apply them to 2010. Don't get me wrong it not that I mind doing this, it just that I fear I may be learning methods which have better or different solutions in 2010. It is just me expecting too much of Microsoft, or have I missed out on a new website?

    What's a good flash player to use on an ASP.NET MVC site? The page I'm working on will need to display a number of videos on each page dynamically based on what the user searched for. I'd like each of the videos to show up as thumbnails that can be played, paused, and or enlarged to full screen. I've worked with the standard ASP.NET and used FlashControl.dll to accomplish this. Are there better ways than using a user control for MVC pages? Any tips on including video in webpages in general? Thanks in advance!

  • Scrollable display of multiple video icons

    Hello, I want to have multiple video icons at the top my website's front page. I will have about 20 or so which won't fit on one line (I want to keep the videos on one like) so I thought of having two button on the right of the group and on the left of the group where you click to scroll and view more videos. Do you know an easy way to do this? I can pass in the video links from the server in different Divs or anyway that will make it easy. I thought of using AJAX and pass it different set every time from the server with every click (I'm using Rails and it's fairly easy to do it) but that will be an extra load on the server which I'm trying to avoid. I'd rather send all the icons at once and let the JavaScript handle the scrolling. I thought of using iFrame but I don't like the idea of scrollbar and wanted to be more like button Any ideas?     I have a web site and i am showing videos to visitors, at the admin side i am filling the form of video and upload video file and sometimes i need to change(update) the video so i update the video by uploading another one, when i create the video in the first time i concatenate a datetime variable with the video name to avoid repeatition(file already exist) and when updatting the video the problem appears.... as if i upload the new video with the previous name so it will replace the previous one and in this case if the video is used by another process it will fail and the second option(which i am already using) is to upload a new video and concatenating new datetime variable with video title, so the previous and the new video will exist in the same directory and in this case i will lose too much space in my server directory as i have unused videos which takes space which in future will cause problem to me in the disk space so how can i solve this problem ? Hope that my question is clear....thanks in advance for any try

    I hope someone can help. I have been looking into trying to stream movies into my client's site. They are videos about 1 hour long and for web in .flv or .m4v are about 320 megs. We need to get these videos off our server while providing our visitors a way to scrub through the video. I know Limelight does it, but their min plan is $1,000 a month. This is overkill for our needs. Someone told me to go with CacheFly, but they don't support true streaming. SimpleCDN seems to be sold out at the moment. Please help!

    Hello all, I'm trying to use youtube's api to bring back a listing of a user's videos. The request url looks something like: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads with 'username' being the correct username. This bring back the appropriate url in the browser. Suppose I wish to design a sort of "Breakout game" where the mouse motion controls the motion of a block that is used to bounce a ball, which then destroys multi colored bricks. How do you specifically make the block "listen" to the mouse?   • Python ftplib - any way to shut it up?

    I am writing a test harness in python and as part of the testing I need to initialise an FTP server and upload various files. I am using ftplib and everything is working ok. The only problem I have is that I am seeing loads of FTP text appearing in the console window intermixed with my test results, which makes scanning the results quite tricky. I haven't found a way to shut ftp lib up and stop this happening, does anyone know how to stop this?

    Greetings all, I need help combining some htaccess rewrites, these crazy regular expressions screw with my head. So I have a folder structure something like this: /www/mysite.com/page/member/friends.php /www/mysite.com/page/video/videos.php /www/mysite.com/page/messages/inbox.php The URLs get rewritten to this: mysite.com/member/friends.php mysite.com/video/videos.php mysite.com/messages/inbox.php (Notice the /page/ folder is hidden in the url, but I keep it on the server for better file organization) The rewrite rules look something like this: (I'm new so correct me if they are flawed) RewriteRule ^video/(.*)$ /page/video/$1 [NC] RewriteRule ^member/(.*)$ /page/member/$1 [NC] RewriteRule ^messages/(.*)$ /page/messages/$1 [NC] Now, I also need to do a completely different rewrite to a file called lobby.php inside of the member folder: After the original rewrites, a sample url looks like: mysite.com/member/lobby.php?member=pws5068 I need a new rewrite to make it look like this: mysite.com/pws5068 Thank you for bearing with my super-long question here. How can I make this happen?

    Was about to finally submit an app when I realized that the youtube videos I'm playing play from the iPhone, but not the iPad.   • Windows media player control with .NET

    What I want to do is to read media files (pics and videos) from a directory and display them one by one using the WMP control (AxWMPLib.AxWindowsMediaPlayer). In its older version it was enough to check the file's duration to distinguish images from videos, the new one randomly shows movies' duration properly or as zero. Does anyone know any other way of finding out what file is being proceeded withouth checking its extension (as a file can have an extension of .abc or so)? I'll be very grateful for any help. (Sorry for my lousy English.)
