    The log viewer in management studio is really neat, however if you have large log files or are accessing a remote server over a slow connection it can take a long time to load the log records. Generally you only need the last x records, so you don’t need to load all the records. It would be great to have a cancel button to allow us to cancel the loading of the log records in SQL Server Management Studio.     When you interrupt the work on some code (be it because you have to work on something else or go on vacation or simply because it is the end of the day), once you close that Visual Studio project, what is your preferred way to remember what you want to do next when you start working on that code again. Do you set a Visual Studio bookmark or do write down something like // TODO: continue here next time? Maybe you have a special tag like // NEXT:? Do you put a sticky note on your monitor? Do you use a cool tool or Visual Studio plugin I should know? Do you have any personal trick that helps you find the place in your code where you left off the last time you worked on your code?

  • Install Visual Studio 2010 on SSD drive, or HDD for better performance?

    I'm going to be installing Visual Studio 2010. I already have my source code on the SSD. For best performance, especially time to open the solution and compiling time, would it be better to install VS 2010 on the SSD or install it on the HDD. If both were on the SSD, loading the VS 2010 files would be quicker, but there would be contention between loading the source and the program files. Thanks!
