    - by Thomas Bøg Petersen
    I have this code on an aspx page. <asp:DropDownList runat="server" ID="ddlSize" CssClass="textbox" Width="100px"> <asp:ListItem Value="" Text="" /> <asp:ListItem Value="11" Text="11. Mands" /> <asp:ListItem Value="7" Text="7. Mands" /> <asp:ListItem Value="" Text="Ikke Kamp"/> </asp:DropDownList> <asp:DropDownList runat="server" ID="ddlType" CssClass="textbox" Width="100px"> <asp:ListItem Value="" Text="" /> <asp:ListItem Value="K" Text="Kamp" /> <asp:ListItem Value="T" Text="Træning" /> <asp:ListItem Value="E" Text="Aktivitet"/> </asp:DropDownList> ts inside a loginview with some other fields (textbox) Im trying to get a record id into the page so i can edit it, I have fix it with the Textbox and its working 100%, but i cant get the value from the database into the dropdownlist so it show that value as selected. I have tryed these 3 codes, but nothing is working fore the dropdownlist. // DataValueField Dim drop_obj As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlSize"), DropDownList) drop_obj.DataValueField = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventEventSize") Dim drop_obj2 As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlType"), DropDownList) drop_obj2.DataValueField = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventType") // SelectedIndex Dim drop_obj As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlSize"), DropDownList) drop_obj.SelectedIndex = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventEventSize") Dim drop_obj2 As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlType"), DropDownList) drop_obj2.SelectedIndex = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventType") // SelectedValue Dim drop_obj As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlSize"), DropDownList) drop_obj.SelectedValue = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventEventSize") Dim drop_obj2 As DropDownList = TryCast(LoginView2.FindControl("ddlType"), DropDownList) drop_obj2.SelectedValue = dtEvents.Rows(0)("EventType") Can someone plz. help !? I have values in the 2 dtEvents.Rows(0) i have checked that, with a debug and then step-into. and i get values like 7 or 11 and T or K.

  • Core data and special characters (UTF-8)

    - by MW
I have an iPhone application using Core Data with an SQLite database in the bottom. I'm writing some text content from the database to a file, but special characters such as Å, Ä and Ö are corrupted in the file (they show up just fine in the application). When creating and inserting data, I am not using any special encoding. I'm just taking the NSString (entered by the user in a UITextField) and putting it in my persistent objects. When saving the file, I use the following code: [csvString writeToFile:filePath atomically:YES encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; I tried adding a BOM to the beginning of the text ("\xef\xbb\xbf") but it is still corrupted. Anyone has any ideas where the problem might be? Examples of corrupted characters: å becomes ö, ä becomes ä

  • Data structure for Settlers of Catan map?

    - by templatetypedef
Hello all- A while back someone asked me if I knew of a nice way to encode the information for the game Settlers of Catan. This would require storing a hexagonal grid in a way where each hex can have data associated with it. More importantly, though, I would need some way of efficiently looking up vertices and edges on the sides of these hexagons, since that's where all the action is. My question is this: is there a good, simple data structure for storing a hexagonal grid while allowing for fast lookup of hexagons, edges between hexagons, and vertices at the intersections of hexagons? I know that general structures like a winged-edge or quad-edge could do this, but that seems like massive overkill. Thanks!

  • Advanced SQL Data Compare throught multiple tables

    - by podosta
Hello, Consider the situation below. Two tables (A & B), in two environments (DEV & TEST), with records in those tables. If you look the content of the tables, you understand that functionnal data are identical. I mean except the PK and FK values, the name Roger is sill connected to Fruit & Vegetable. In DEV environment : Table A 1 Roger 2 Kevin Table B (italic field is FK to table A) 1 1 Fruit 2 1 Vegetable 3 2 Meat In TEST environment : Table A 4 Roger 5 Kevin Table B (italic field is FK to table A) 7 4 Fruit 8 4 Vegetable 9 5 Meat I'm looking for a SQL Data Compare tool which will tell me there is no difference in the above case. Or if there is, it will generate insert & update scripts with the right order (insert first in A then B) Thanks a lot guys, Grégoire

  • How to find out memory layout of your data structure implementation on Linux 64bit machine

    - by ajay
In this article, http://cacm.acm.org/magazines/2010/7/95061-youre-doing-it-wrong/fulltext the author talks about the memory layouts of 2 data structures - The Binary Heap and the B-Heap and compares how one has better memory layout than the other. http://deliveryimages.acm.org/10.1145/1790000/1785434/figs/f5.jpg http://deliveryimages.acm.org/10.1145/1790000/1785434/figs/f6.jpg I want to get hands on experience on this. I have an implementation of a N-Ary Tree and I want to find out the memory layout of my data structure. What is the best way to come up with a memory layout like the one in the article? Secondly, I think it is easier to identify the memory layout if it is an array based implementation. If the implementation of a Tree uses pointers then what Tools do we have or what kind of approach is required to map it's memory layout? Thanks!

  • operator not defined for System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection and System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection

    - by Beta033
i hope i'm just doing something wrong here. Ideally i'm trying to open the connection, open a transaction execute a ton of prebuilt sqlstatements (with parameters) against this connection then close the connection. ideally all in the same batch. It's easy enough to wrap this all in a for loop, however i'd like to use the forEach function of the list generic to set the connection as it'll probably be faster than my implementation of calling List.Item(i) in the loop but i get some strange errors. Dim sqlStatements As List(Of SqlCommand) = New List(Of SqlCommand) Dim conn As SqlClient.SqlConnection = New SqlConnection("...") sqlStatements.Item(0).Connection = conn 'Works sqlStatements.ForEach(Function(ByRef cmd As SqlCommand) cmd.Connection = conn) 'ERROR: Operator '=' is not defined for types 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' 'and 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection What does this error really mean?

  • Silverlight 4 accessing WCF Data Services: BeginInvoke frustrations.

    - by Gatmando
Hi, I'm attempting to follow a pattern for performing WCF data service queries using the Silverlight 4 beta. The following is my code: public CodeTables() { CodeCountries = new ObservableCollection<dsRealHomes.CodeCountries>(); dsRealHomes.RealHomesEntities myClient = null; myClient = staticGlobals.RealHomesContext(); object userState = null; myClient.BeginExecute<dsRealHomes.CodeCountries>(new Uri("CodeCountries"), (IAsyncResult asyncResult) => { Dispatcher.BeginInvoke( () => { var test = myClient.EndExecute<dsRealHomes.CodeCountries>asyncResult).ToList(); } ); }, userState); } This is derived from a number of examples I've come across for WCF data services with silverlight. Unfortunately no matter how I try to implement the code i end up with the following error on 'Dispatcher.BeginInvoke': 'An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property (System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(System.Action)' Thanks

  • Error in retrieving data from Excel File

    - by Sreejesh Kumar
I have an excel file. I wanted to pull the data from excel file to SQL Server table. And the data is successfully transferred. In the excel file, I removed a text from one column named "Risk" from one row.The text was lengthy one.now the package execution fails at the source ie from the excel file. The errors are shown as "[Audit [1]] Error: There was an error with output column "Risk" (100) on output "Excel Source Output" (9). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE"." and "[Audit [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR. The "output column "Risk" (100)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "Risk" (100)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure." the error occurs only when I remove this particular text from this row.

  • Counting number of children in hierarchical SQL data

    - by moontear
    Hello, for a simple data structure such as so: ID parentID Text Price 1 Root 2 1 Flowers 3 1 Electro 4 2 Rose 10 5 2 Violet 5 6 4 Red Rose 12 7 3 Television 100 8 3 Radio 70 9 8 Webradio 90 For reference, the hierarchy tree looks like this: ID Text Price 1 Root |2 Flowers |-4 Rose 10 | |-6 Red Rose 12 |-5 Violet 5 |3 Electro |-7 Television 100 |-8 Radio 70 |-9 Webradio 90 I'd like to count the number of children per level. So I would get a new column "NoOfChildren" like so: ID parentID Text Price NoOfChildren 1 Root 8 2 1 Flowers 3 3 1 Electro 3 4 2 Rose 10 1 5 2 Violet 5 0 6 4 Red Rose 12 0 7 3 Television 100 0 8 3 Radio 70 1 9 8 Webradio 90 0 I read a few things about hierarchical data, but I somehow get stuck on the multiple inner joins on the parentIDs. Maybe someone could help me out here. moon

  • Core Data multi-threading

    - by JK
My app starts by presenting a tableview whose datasource is a Core Data SQLite store. When the app starts, a secondary thread with its own store controller and context is created to obtain updates from the web for data in the store. However, any resulting changes to the store are not notified to the fetchedresults controller (I presume because it has its own coordinator) and consequently the table is not updated with store changes. What would be the most efficient way to refresh the context on the main thread? I am considering tracking the objectIDs of any objects changed on the secondary thread, sending those to the main thread when the secondary thread completes and invoking "[context refreshObject:....] Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Core Data Relationship List

    - by Dylan Copeland
I'm not sure whether or not this is the appropriate way of doing this, but I was wondering what's the best way to approach a relationship to a value in a list with Core Data? For example, say you have a 'person' entity. Each person can have a different 'hair color'. I'm trying to basically define the hair colors in my data model and allow the 'person' entity to have a relationship to their given 'hair color. Is this possible? Good idea or bad? Thanks in advance.

  • Core data many-to-many relationship - Predicate question

    - by Garry
In my Core Data model I have two entities: List and Patient. List has an attribute called 'name'. A List can have any number of Patients and each Patient can belong to any number of different lists. I have therefore set a relationship on List called 'patients' that has an inverse to-many relationship to Patient AND a relationship on Patient called 'lists' that has a to-many relationship to List. What I'm struggling to figure out is how to create a Predicate that will select all Patients that belong to a particular List name. How would I go about this? I have never used relationships before in Core Data. Thanks,

  • Expanding all items of a NSOutlineView that loads data from a data source

    - by matei
First of all I'm new to cocoa development so I suppose I'm probably trying to do this the wrong way, but here goes: I have a NSOutlineView which loads the data from a NSOutlineViewDataSource imnplementation. I want all the items to be expanded after they are loaded, but i can't seem to find an event fired when the data has finished loading, so I can send a [outlineView expandItem:nil expandChildren: YES] to it. I looked into the NSOutlineViewDelegate protocol but I was unable to find a sutable place for this call. What would be the best approach for this problem ?

  • WCF DataContracts and underlying data structures

    - by Xerx
I am wondering what makes sense in relation to what objects to expose through a WCF service - should I add WCF Serialization specifications to my business entities or should I implement a converter that maps my business entities to the DataContracts that I want to expose through my WCF service? Right now I have entities on different levels: DataAccess, Business and Contract. I have converters in place that can map entities from DataAccess to Business and from Business to Contract and vice versa. Implementing and Maintaining those is time consuming and pretty tedious. What are best practices in relation to this? If I were using an OR/M such as NHibernate or Entity Framework should I be exposing the entities from the ORM directly or should I abstract them the same way I am doing now? Thanks in advance.

  • Adding unique objects to Core Data

    - by absolut
    I'm working on an iPhone app that gets a number of objects from a database. I'd like to store these using Core Data, but I'm having problems with my relationships. A Detail contains any number of POIs (points of interest). When I fetch a set of POI's from the server, they contain a detail ID. In order to associate the POI with the Detail (by ID), my process is as follows: Query the ManagedObjectContext for the detailID. If that detail exists, add the poi to it. If it doesn't, create the detail (it has other properties that will be populated lazily). The problem with this is performance. Performing constant queries to Core Data is slow, to the point where adding a list of 150 POI's takes a minute thanks to the multiple relationships involved. In my old model, before Core Data (various NSDictionary cache objects) this process was super fast (look up a key in a dictionary, then create it if it doesn't exist) I have more relationships than just this one, but pretty much every one has to do this check (some are many to many, and they have a real problem). Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can help this? I could perform fewer queries (by searching for a number of different ID's), but I'm not sure how much this will help. Some code: POI *poi = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"POI" inManagedObjectContext:[(AppDelegate*)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate managedObjectContext]]; poi.POIid = [attributeDict objectForKey:kAttributeID]; poi.detailId = [attributeDict objectForKey:kAttributeDetailID]; Detail *detail = [self findDetailForID:poi.POIid]; if(detail == nil) { detail = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Detail" inManagedObjectContext:[(AppDelegate*)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate managedObjectContext]]; detail.title = poi.POIid; detail.subtitle = @""; detail.detailType = [attributeDict objectForKey:kAttributeType]; } -(Detail*)findDetailForID:(NSString*)detailID { NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate managedObjectContext]; NSEntityDescription *entityDescription = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Detail" inManagedObjectContext:moc]; NSFetchRequest *request = [[[NSFetchRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setEntity:entityDescription]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat: @"detailid == %@", detailID]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; NSLog(@"%@", [predicate description]); NSError *error; NSArray *array = [moc executeFetchRequest:request error:&error]; if (array == nil || [array count] != 1) { // Deal with error... return nil; } return [array objectAtIndex:0]; }

  • data structure problems

    - by Ashish
hey guys, please help me in finding the solution to some of these Amazon questions: given a file containing approx 10 million words, design a data structure for finding the anagrams Write a program to display the ten most frequent words in a file such that your program be efficient in all complexity measures. you have a file with millions of lines of data. Only two lines are identical; the rest are all unique. Each line is so long that it may not even fit in the memory. What is the most efficient solution for finding the identical lines?

  • Free data warehouse - Infobright, Hadoop/Hive or what ?

    - by peperg
I need to store large amount of small data objects (millions of rows per month). Once they're saved they wont change. I need to : store them securely use them to analysis (mostly time-oriented) retrieve some raw data occasionally It would be nice if it could be used with JasperReports or BIRT My first shot was Infobright Community - just a column-oriented, read-only storing mechanism for MySQL On the other hand, people says that NoSQL approach could be better. Hadoop+Hive looks promissing, but the documentation looks poor and the version number is less than 1.0 . I heard about Hypertable, Pentaho, MongoDB .... Do you have any recommendations ? (Yes, I found some topics here, but it was year or two ago)

  • Discrete and Continuous Classifier on Sparse Data

    - by Chris S
I'm trying to classify an example, which contains discrete and continuous features. Also, the example represents sparse data, so even though the system may have been trained on 100 features, the example may only have 12. What would be the best classifier algorithm to use to accomplish this? I've been looking at Bayes, Maxent, Decision Tree, and KNN, but I'm not sure any fit the bill exactly. The biggest sticking point I've found is that most implementations don't support sparse data sets and both discrete and continuous features. Can anyone recommend an algorithm and implementation (preferably in Python) that fits these criteria? Libraries I've looked at so far include: Orange (Mostly academic. Implementations not terribly efficient or practical.) NLTK (Also academic, although has a good Maxent implementation, but doesn't handle continuous features.) Weka (Still researching this. Seems to support a broad range of algorithms, but has poor documentation, so it's unclear what each implementation supports.)

  • core data editor problems

    - by Peyman
I was recommended by someone in Stack Overflow to use Core Data Editor http://christian-kienle.de/CoreDataEditor/ to manage the sqlite persistent store. However the latest version (3.0) crashes on launch everytime. Older versions load but I see nothing when i point the config to the persistent store and the object model directories. There is no documentation either. can someone point me to the right place to sort this problem? I am trying to find a more manageable way to coordinate core data development than sqlite consoles. thank you

  • Core Data (NSFetchedResultsController) displaying one row per section

    - by Urizen
I have a CoreData application which uses NSFetchedResultsController. NSFetchedResultsController is useful in that it allows me to access the fetched objects more easily etc. but I find that I have problems with the following: I get a crash when I display a single row for each section (irrespective of the number of actual rows present) as a summary of the information in that section (e.g. showing a statistical analysis of the data contained in the fetched rows for that section). I understand that the NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegatemethods have to agree with the number of rows reported per section by the UITableView Delegate method but I would like to be able to fetch all of the records for each section without necessarily displaying each of the rows. The above causes me inconsistency crashes, when I try to insert or delete data for a section, which reports that the number of rows for each section is not as it should be given the number of insertions/deletions. Is there any way I can do what I'm trying to achieve? Thanks for any help.

  • How To Aggregate API Data?

    - by Mindblip
Hi, I have a system that connects to 2 popular APIs. I need to aggregate the data from each into a unified result that can then be paginated. The scope of the project means that the system could end up supporting 10's of APIs. Each API imposes a max limit of 50 results per request. What is the best way of aggregating this data so that it is reliable i.e ordered, no duplicates etc I am using CakePHP framework on a LAMP environment, however, I think this question relates to all programming languages. My approach so far is to query the search API of each provider and then populate a MySQL table. From this the results are ordered, paginated etc. However, my concern is performance: API communication, parsing, inserting and then reading all in one execution. Am I missing something, does anyone have any other ideas? I'm sure this is a common problem with many alternative solutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

  • Entity framework error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data

    - by EdenMachine
I know there are a ton of posts about this issue but none of them seem to solve my problem. Here's the scenario: I have a CreateDate DateTime column in my MS SQL Server database User table that is non-nullable and is automatically set using GetDate() method in "Default Value or Binding" setting. I am able to create a User just fine with the standard EF Insert but when I try to update the user, I get this error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. What is the trick to not having the EF worry about the CreateDate column for updates? I have the StoreGenerationPattern = Identity but that isn't helping. Here are the EF properties for my Entity Property: http://screencast.com/t/8ndQRn9N And here is my Update method: http://screencast.com/t/UXIzhkhR
