    I would like to know whether there will be problem for shared hosting/vps/dedicated users if they request content via remote mysql or via http API. ? What will be issues if they make every request to production server for delivery of the website articles along with image urls etc. Will it cause disk wait on shared/vps/dedicated hosting users ? Will both remotemysql or http api or curl cause high CPU usage, I/O wait or Memory usage ? What should be best for speed remote mysql or http web api ? or any alternatives ? Thanku Kannan

  • Keeping local windows folder in sync with remote ftp folder in real time

    I know it has been asked before, but I would like it to happen in real time and transparently (without the need to open a separate FTP client such as FileZilla). For example, if I edit a text file in the local folder and then save it, it should immediately detect it and push the changes to the remote folder. It can be unidirectional (changes made on the local folder has to be pushed to the remote folder but the reverse is not necessary). It should also be able to specify some excluded files/folders which do not need to be in sync. Is there such an application that you know of?

    I have remote servlet for example: h*tps://[ip_address]/servlet (h*tps://[ip_address]/ - Tomcat main page) that i need to configure on local Apache HTTPd server. My mod_jk configuration looks like below, but doesn't work. Something works, because when i type h*tps://localhost/console in a browser i get Tomcat error page "HTTP Status 404 - /console/".     From time to time,we suffer problems like we can not remote connect to our server via ssh.So we have to send someone on site to restart the computer for this problem.It causes a lot of pain.The situation is we have to remote connect to our server,which are very important like database server and application server and etc.We have met problems like ssh hang,like command ssh [email protected] with no response. when using ssh -v debug mode, it says : debug1: Connection established. debug1: identity file /.ssh/identity type -1 debug1: identity file /.ssh/id_rsa type -1 debug1: identity file /.ssh/id_dsa type -1 debug1: loaded 3 keys and we met this situation many times with no clue how to solve it.Is any log which can identify this problem? or Is there a tool for this problem? help needed!Any idea are appreciated.

  • Snippets between desktop and laptop

    The Situation: At work, I have a nice beefy desktop running Windows Server 2008 R2 (SharePoint dev machine). My handy ThinkPad is right next to it. Every once in a while I'd like to cut and paste or share something (usually text) between the machines: for example, I might be headed out and I'd like to take send the URL I'm reading from the desktop to the laptop. Of course I can create a share or use the Admin shares and create files to get stuff back and forth, but that seems heavyweight for what I'm thinking of. I'm thinking more along the lines of sending myself an IM. How do you get little things from machine to machine? Keep a shared folder pinned to the taskbar? Send an email to yourself? Bookmark sync? While on it, I'm looking for a decent multiple clipboard handler: maybe these two functions are combined in some nice little utility? I suspect I'm missing something simple here... Thanks...   • IIS SmtpSVC - Adding remote domains on the fly

    Since I am using SMTPSVC from IIS to send all mail out I have noticed some domains that reject mail regarding LFs and similar SMTP day to day basis problems. So I mostly re route these domains by using smarthosts. Now I aslo read that on IIS7 or most of them when you add a remote domain to domains you must restart SMTPSVC to take effect. I also enabled METABASE editing. So I also hoped that this will help me add remote domains on the fly. But it's not working. Should I use another SMTP: -hmailserver or similar to route DOMAINS by smarthost. We used a smarthost configuration before but ISP smarthost gets a lot on RBL Blacklist so mail comes back. Since DNS MX direct sending is more work because of troublesome domains now I got more work to monitor SMTP logs. Thank you in advance.

  • Ubuntu server 10.04 doesn't boot into installed Gnome desktop automatically

    I've installed Ubuntu server 10.04 and then installed Gnome desktop on top of it, because I am new to Linux and its command line, I need the GUI desktop to help me get around. However, the problem I got is that the server doesn't boot into the GUI desktop when powered on. It's booting into a shell like this: Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems: - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enought?) - check root= (did the system wait for the right device?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev) ALERT! /dev/mapper/cecdata-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell! BusyBox v1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu11) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (initramfs) result of (cat /proc/cmdline) BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-28-server root=/dev/mapper/cecdata-root ro quiet Then I have type "exit" to exit the shell and then it boots into Gnome. Any idea what's wrong?     Hi, I’m using Zen Cart (php) for my web site. I have images that is on my supplier’s remote server and my site is on Host Gator the only way to get the images show up on my site is to connect to their server using links to the images (per agreement). They tell me that ZenCart PHP does not allow you to serve images from a remote host. And I need to have a PHP programmer take a look at the code to see if he can manipulate the source code to allow this. Does anyone have solution for this? Thank you!! Vladi

    Situation: I have two Windows7 machines (PC and laptop). I've set PC as VPN server and laptop as VPN client using default built-in W7 network tools. I've disabled use default gateway in remote network on client machine, so client don't try to route all communication through VPN. I've routed port 1723 (TCP/UDP) on NAT to my server and enabled IPSec/PPTP/L2TP passthrough I've put my laptop in indepedent network (basically I've connected it via 3G network), connected to VPN server and checked ipconfig /all I've get: IP Address: 192.168.1.101 Mask: 255.255.255.255 Gateway: (none) LAN mask in server LAN network is 255.255.255.0 - I am surely missing something obvious, but Google doesn't give me any good advices; How can I access local LAN network from remote VPN client? How can I access local shared documents?

But is there any good, quantifiable reason to keep a 32-bit desktop operating system maintained? We're preparing our Windows 8 images for the (unfortunate?) few that will be early adopters. The majority of our desktop computers have 4gb or less of RAM, but I would love to not have to bother supporting a 32-bit flavoured operating system any more. Any reason why I should?

  • Server 2008 blue screen after login - no desktop

    I came into work today to find that our Windows Server 2008 used as a terminal server for the Thin Clients was not loading the users desktops. What I have found out is that when I login via Remote Desktop, after applying user settings, it gets to the stage of 'Preaparing your desktop', but then the screen just goes blue. I have tried rebooting several times with no luck, and logging in locally at the server with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? I do not think that it could be a virus attack as we run antivirus on the server with OpenDNS filtering. Yesterday a software restriction policy was set up to only allow programs in the following directories to run if that could be the problem, although it was working fine all day yesterday.     OK, I'm a C# programmer that is trying to streamline the deployment of a custom windows form app I inherited and built an installer for with WiX (this app will need to be reinstalled regularly as I'm making changes to it). I'm not really used to admin type things (or vbs, or WMI, or terminal servers, or Citrix, and even WiX and MSI are not things I usually deal with) but so far I put together some vbs and have an end goal in mind. The msi does work, and I've installed it from the mapped O: drive on my dev machine and while RDP'd to a citrix machine. End Goal: Deploy code written on my dev machine and compiled into an MSI (that I can improve upon within the confines of WiX and whatever the Windows Installer Engine allows) to the cluster of Citrix machines my users have access to.   • Newbie one: Virtual Networks - Hyper-V - Remote Destktop - Only one phisical NIC

    Hello everyone, I'll try to explain my situation and I'll apreciate any help: I have a phisical server (quad core, 4Gb ram, 1TB raid 10, etc) with Win Server 2008 R2 enterprise, running IIS, Printing, etc... Also, I want to set up 2 virtual Servers with 2008 R2 standart one with SQL Server and the other with Team Foundation. What i need is: Being able to access from inside the private phisical network, to Remote Desktops on each of the Virtual and the phisical Servers Had Access from the outside, using a router and port Forwarding, to the TFS server and the IIS server (one is virtualized, the other is phisical) This is it, but note that I only have one Phisical Nic. How do I configure this to work. When i set up the hyper-v role, on the wizard something like it showed up but I don't remmember what i choose, and right now, I cannot access none of the servers from remote desktop, not even from the phisical private network. Can anybody point me, what can i do? Thanks in advance (sorry 4 my english, i'm a spanish talker and my english isn't that good)

  • Add a remote printer over ssh on OSX?

    I have a printer at my office that is connected to a local network and my linux box at work can see it on the network. However, it is not visible to the outside world. I was trying to figure out a way to add it on my MacAir and so far have found two options: 1) Using ssh tunnel via CLI: cat file.pdf | ssh user@linuxbox lpr. 2) With Chrome installed on the linux box, using the Google Cloud Print service on the remote box and automator on my MacAir I can add the printer to Cmnd+p dialog box I like the first method since it does not require Chrome be installed and the second one since it allows to use Cmnd+p inside all applications. I was wondering if there is a way to combine by using automator to run the first command line script. What about port forwarding? Is it possible to forward the remote CUPS 631 port to a local port and then add the printer normally? What other methods would you recommend?

  • Unknown protocol when trying to connect to remote host with stunnel

    I'm trying to set up a stunnel for WebDav on Windows. I want to connect 80 port on my local interface to 443 on another machine in my network. I can ping the machine remote machine. However when I use the tunnel, I'm getting this error all the time SSL state (accept): before/accept initialization SSL_accept: 140760FC: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol There is nothing in the logs on the other machine and here's my stunnel connection config [https] accept = 127.0.0.2:80 connect = 10.0.0.60:443 verify = 0 I've set it up to accept all certificates so this shouldn't be a problem with a self-signed certificate remote host uses. Does anyone knows what might be the problem that this connection cannot be eastablished?
