    Using JDO / DataNucleus / NeoDatis datastore I added @Unique to a field of a persistable object, however I am allowed to create multiple objects which violate the unique constraint. The docs for DataNucleus/NeoDatis suggest that Unique fields are supported. @PersistenceCapable public class User { @Persistent @Unique private String username; //... } If I add multiple objects to the DB with the same username there's no problem doing so. :(

  • Sending an int from Java to C using sockets

    I was just wondering how to send an int from a Java application to a C application using sockets. I have got different C programs communicating with each other and have got the Java application retrieving data from the C application, but I can't work out sending. The C application is acting as database, the Java application then sends a user id (a 4 digit number) to the C application, if it exists it returns that record's details. In Java I have tried using a printWriter and DataOutputStream to send the data, printWriter produces weird symbols and DataOutputStream produces "prof_agent.so". Any help would be appreciated as I don't have a good grasp of sockets at the moment.

Is there a standard tag like <fmt:message> that can handle this, or do I need to write some jsp script to handle the loop?

    One of my users had a single error while opening a file (I'm using standard xml 1.0): The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.w3.org' I found a post here in StackOverflow that deals with this and it suggest setting the XmlResolver property to null. I've tried this, and all my documents still seem to load fine. However, the last thing I want is to break the file-reading mechanism of my app, so is it actually safe to disable the resolver?

    If I add a validation attribute: public class ProductDownloadListModel { //xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx [Required] [StringLength(17)] public string PSN { get; set; } public DateTime PsnExpirationDate { get; set; } public DataTable Downloads { get; set; } } and the user enters a 17-character string but includes white space on the end, I get a validation error because the string is greater than that specified by the [StringLength(17)] attribute. How can I prevent this? I'd prefer not to have to have javaScript trim the string before submits.

If it's matched then i need to extract the first $abc and the last #xyz, all that using pure javascript and maybe regex.     Hi, i have 2 questions about widgets update I have 2 buttons and i need to change one button text when i press the other one, how can i do this? The first time i open the widget it calls the onUpdate method, but it never calls it again.     When you have a table on a form in Notes, you can choose to display only one row at a time (via the Special Table Row Display parameter on the Table Rows tab of the Table properties). In a Notes document displayed using Internet Explorer that contains such a table, a row is displayed with a cell for each "tab". The TD that serves as the tab for the selected "Notes table row" is assigned <td class="dominoSelTopTab">, while the other tabs get <td class="dominoTopTab">. However, when using other browsers, it's not nearly as simple. Since my rdlc report file is currently designed (from XML of-course) to statically generate the coulumns. A future shift in events will need me to alter the rdlc file and add in a new column. how can i do this dynamically. I intend to avoid opening the rdlc file and adding XML code.

    Is there some way to ask Mercurial to show the revisions being diffed in the output? For example: $ hg diff -r trunk:development diff -r 08d51ecf22cf:ff5673e55b9f --git a/foo.c b/foo.c ... Or something similar? I've found that there have been a few times that I've taken a diff (eg, to review), but have later been unable to recreate it because I've forgotten which revisions it was taken against.

  • C++ online Role Playing Game (RPG)

    So I've been learning C++ and SDL to make some basic 2d games. I want to create a game sort of like World of Warcraft but a 2D version. I want it to be on-line and use a database or something to start data like amount of Gold, HP, etc. I was wondering though, if I do this in SDL, would it still work on-line or would the user have to download SDL themselves to play? I just want a game like this but be able to play it with some friends, just for learning purposes you know. I was also looking at DirectX because everyone has that on windows pretty much. Anyways much help is appreciated, thanks!

  • Confused about std::runtime_error vs. std::logic_error

    I recently saw that the boost program_options library throws a logic_error if the command-line input was un-parsable. That challenged my assumptions about logic_error vs. runtime_error. I assumed that logic errors (logic_error and its derived classes) were problems that resulted from internal failures to adhere to program invariants, often in the form of illegal arguments to internal API's. In that sense they are largely equivalent to ASSERT's, but meant to be used in released code (unlike ASSERT's which are not usually compiled into released code.) They are useful in situations where it is infeasible to integrate separate software components in debug/test builds or the consequences of a failure are such that it is important to give runtime feedback about the invalid invariant condition to the user. Similarly, I thought that runtime_errors resulted exclusively from runtime conditions outside of the control of the programmer: I/O errors, invalid user input, etc. However, program_options is obviously heavily (primarily?) used as a means of parsing end-user input, so under my mental model it certainly should throw a runtime_error in the case of bad input. Where am I going wrong? Do you agree with the boost model of exception typing?

  • Cannot "Install New Software" in Eclipse 3.5

    I have just installed Eclipse 3.5 for Java EE developers ("Galileo"). I need to add an extra plugin, but when I select the "Install New Software ..." menu item, nothing happens. Literally nothing - no dialog opens, no error message is displayed. If I have the Debug window open, no message are displayed. If I go to Preferences - Install/Update - Available Software Sites, that dialog opens OK, I can manage the list of update sites, and test the connections, and they all appear OK. But I cannot get to use them to actually install anything. Is it just broken, or could there be something more subtle wrong? Thanks.

    Hi, Basically what I have here is a button that adds a new list item to an unordered list. Within this list item is a dropdown box (.formSelector) that when changed triggers an ajax call to get the values for another dropdown box (.fieldSelector) in the same list item. The problem is on this line: $(this).closest(".fieldSelector").append( If I change it to $(".fieldSelector").append( the second box updates correctly. The problem with this is that when I have multiple list items it updates every dropdown box on the page with the class fieldSelector, which is undesirable. How can I traverse the DOM to just pick the fieldSelector in the current list item? Any help is greatly appreciated.   • UIWebView Loading content properly on iOS 6 simulator but not on device?

    I have encountered a weird bug with a released app. My UIWebView is no longer loading content on iOS 6, yet the content still displays in the simulator. The activity indicator displays properly but then it loads a blank url? Again, this only happens on a device, not on the simulator. To provide extra context (in the simulator the NSURLRequest is assigned the proper URL. When run on a device the value is nil.)     What is the preferred and/or correct way to release an NSMutableString (or any other class for that matter) instance and assign a new instance to the same variable in Objective-C on the iPhone? Currently I'm using [current release]; current = [NSMutableString new]; but I understand that the following works, too. NSMutableString *new = [NSMutableString new]; [current release]; current = [new retain]; [new release]; The variable current is declared in the interface definition of my class and gets released in dealloc.

    if getChildHtml('product_type_data') ? maps directly to catalog/product/view/type/simple.phtml by default, how do I map to my own file? If I wanted to create a file that would produce a small image to place on the product page, right under "availability" how would I tell magento to map to where I have put the file? From what I understand getChildHtml('product_type_data') ? defaults to the file path: catalog/product/view/type/simple.phtml so how can I customize the magento defaults and tell it to map to my custom files i've created? I hope I have explained this well enough, if not, please let me know and I will try to explain more. Any help or guidance would be awesome. Thanks.

    Can I assign each value in an array to separate variables in one line in C#? Here's an example in Ruby code of what I want: irb(main):001:0> str1, str2 = ["hey", "now"] => ["hey", "now"] irb(main):002:0> str1 => "hey" irb(main):003:0> str2 => "now" I'm not sure if what I'm wanting is possible in C#. Edit: for those suggesting I just assign the strings "hey" and "now" to variables, that's not what I want. Imagine the following: irb(main):004:0> val1, val2 = get_two_values() => ["hey", "now"] irb(main):005:0> val1 => "hey" irb(main):006:0> val2 => "now" Now the fact that the method get_two_values returned strings "hey" and "now" is arbitrary. In fact it could return any two values, they don't even have to be strings.
