• Delphi - restore actual row in DBGrid

  Hi! D6 prof. Formerly we used DBISAM and DBISAMTable. That handle the RecNo, and it is working good with modifications (Delete, edit, etc). Now we replaced with ElevateDB, that don't handle RecNo, and many times we use Queries, not Tables. Query must reopen to see the modifications. But if we Reopen the Query, we need to repositioning to the last record. Locate isn't enough, because Grid is show it in another Row. This is very disturbing thing, because after the modification record is moving into another row, you hard to follow it, and users hate this. We found this code: function TBaseDBGrid.GetActRow: integer; begin Result := -1 + Row; end; procedure TBasepDBGrid.SetActRow(aRow: integer); var bm : TBookMark; begin if IsDataSourceValid(DataSource) then with DataSource.DataSet do begin bm := GetBookmark; DisableControls; try MoveBy(-aRow); MoveBy(aRow); //GotoBookmark(bm); finally FreebookMark(bm); EnableControls; end; end; end; The original example is uses moveby. This working good with Queries, because we cannot see that Query reopened in the background, the visual control is not changed the row position. But when we have EDBTable, or Live/Sensitive Query, the MoveBy is dangerous to use, because if somebody delete or append a new row, we can relocate into wrong record. Then I tried to use the BookMark (see remark). But this technique isn't working, because it is show the record in another Row position... So the question: how to force both the row position and record in DBGrid? Or what kind of DBGrid can relocate to the record/row after the underlying DataSet refreshed? I search for user friendly solution, I understand them, because I tried to use this jump-across DBGrid, and very bad to use, because my eyes are getting out when try to find the original record after update... :-( Thanks for your every help, link, info: dd

• Daily Backups for a single table in Microsoft SQL Server

  Hello, I have a table in a database that I would like to backup daily, and keep the backups of the last two weeks. It's important that only this single table will be backed up. I couldn't find a way of creating a maintenance plan or a job that will backup a single table, so I thought of creating a stored procedure job that will run the logic I mentioned above by copying rows from my table to a database on a different server, and deleting old rows from that destination database. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that's even possible. Any ideas how can I accomplish what I'm trying to do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• Difference between RPM (yum) and apt-get

  Functional difference between the two? Packages different style or what? I'm dipping my toe in the server pool and playing with an Ubuntu install right now, which is apt-get. I'm also considering FreeBSD and Debian if I do decide to start running my own VPS. So far things have been very easy, sudo apt-get install apache2 and the like with no issues at all. I'd like to know if there is a different learning curve to yum or variants.

  Hi! I have an application in WPF C# where other than the purpose of what it's done, I customized the close and minimize buttons. The problem is that when I minimize, all is good, I cycle around all other apps, but, when I want to go back to the application, I click in the window in the taskbar, and the window pops up... But when it pops up, the window pursues the mouse pointer throughout the screen... • Any way to change Phppgadmin view order of columns without changing underlying db

  Hey everyone, Is there any way to change the order of the columns phppgadmin views when browsing tables without having to change the underlying db? I have a few columns that I want seperated by heaps of unimportant ones and then a few more important ones at the end. I can see that some devices such as NAS have their specifications mentioning both (e.g. Iomega StorCenter) or only DLNA (e.g. Netgear Stora). Is this a synomym for the same thing or is is actually 2 different protocals ? Are they compatible, i.e. if a media server uses DLNA and the streaming device uses UPNP, will it work ?   In a conversation with the network administator, I mentioned that my machine was a dual-core. He told me it was not. I brought up the task manager, went to the perfomance tab, and showed him that there are two separate CPU usage graphs. I have a quad-core machine at home and it has four graphs. He told there were two graphs on this particular machine because of hyper-threading. I used to have a hyper-thread pentium 4 processor back in the day, but I never fully understood what it meant. So what is the difference between hyper threading and dual-core? And how do you tell which one you have?

  hi all. i'm writing a component that is to be used across multiple websites. each website has it's own stylesheets and displays certain things differently. all of my html is wrapped within a div with an id: <div id="myComponent">...</div> my component however is to look consistent across all of the sites. this is fine as i apply styling to most of the attributes in my component. div#myComponent p {font-size:11px;} etc however i've come across a site that removes the border from all input fields input {border: medium none;} i need to 'un-apply' this directive for the input fields within my component, and preferrably use the browser's default styling for inputs, as the border style for input type="text" will need be different to input type="button". how would you achieve this?

  Hi, I read from a sqlite db to my iphone app. Within the texts sometimes there are special characters like 'xf2' or 'xe0' as I can see in the debugger in the char* data type.
