• Robust way to display an image with one fixed dimension

  Lets say that we have an image uploaded by the user, the upload script limits the mb but not the image size (so could be any proportion, 600X200,200X350, and so...). Im already showing this image in one part on my site using the twitter bootstrap image handler written on css, thats good for a profile picture, the problem is that now I want that image to be a cover (like facebook/twitter cover image), my site is responsive so the width of the cover is 900px or 100% if the screen resolution is less than 900px wide. The height is always fixed to 200px. So I know there is a way to control the correct image display using CSS (maybe with jquery too) but Im not a front-end dev, Im a php dev and I dont want to use server side scripts for doing this. So im looking for suggestions or pieces of codes (css, javascript) to start with, I belive that it have to be an already made solution for this, but I dont find any on google. Thanks for any advice!

• Wordpress: Forcing a widget to display?

  I've been trying to make a widget which stays active permanently on a wordpress sidebar, preferably being on top before all other widgets. However the only way I have figured I can do this is by manually modifying individual sidebar.php's but that is slow and inefficient. So is there a way I can force a widget to display in a sidebar? If I was to change actual wordpress code where would I go about doing htis? I Know where a widget is registered but I don't know where a widget is activated, if I knew this I think I could force the main widget I want to see active all the time be active.

  Hi everyone, I am working in a tool in PHP that processes a lot of data and takes a while to finish. I would like to keep the user updated with what is going on and the current task processed. What is in your opinion the best way to do it? I've got some ideas but can't decide for the most effective one: The old way: execute a small part of the script and display a page to the user with a Meta Redirect or a JavaScript timer to send a request to continue the script (like /script.php?step=2). Sending AJAX requests constantly to read a server file that PHP keeps updating through fwrite(). Same as above but PHP updates a field in the database instead of saving a file. Does any of those sound good? Any ideas? Thanks!

• Documents/Images display fine in Simulator, but not on my device

  Hello. My application is running fine on the simulator, but not on the device. Basically, any documents from the web (PDF, Word, M4P videos) are working great on the simulator (and can be accessed from Safari on the iPhone). However, running on the iPhone, they don't display anything.   Hello, I am sure this has to a comon thing I just can't find it. I am making a combobox from my data source. Basically, This is a projects form and the user needs to select the the primary contact which is contrained by the customer id (GETbyCustomerID) set in another field. I have it working... mostly except the combobox only displays the contact ID which is completely useless to the user. I need to know how to display the First and Last name (both are seperate columns in the table). Any help? I am just using the designer.

  I'm new to Android,trying to build a simple game which use 1-bit black and white display.the screen dimension is 160 * 80,that is 12800 pixels.I created a byte array for the "VRAM",so each time it draws,it first checks the array. The thing is that I am not drawing a point or rectangle for each pixel,I'm using 2 bitmaps(ARGB_4444,I have to use alpha channel,because of shadow effect),1 for positive and 1 for negative.So I called 12800 times drawBitmap() in the surfaceView's Draw method.I know that's silly...But even for openGL,12800 quards won't be that fast right?   Scenario: laptop (running RHEL 5.3 / 5.4) with Wi-Fi allowing incoming connections (the laptop is the DHCP server and default gateway of any device that connects to it). The laptop has a streaming server installed (my app). I need to program an app that could monitor this link (device / streaming server) and display the throughput. More importantly, I need this app to be able to throttle the throughput. Think WANem but as an app, or netlimiter but (way) simpler and for RHEL.   I need to display (tier) prices based on the qty increments of a product. E.g. a simple product, with a regular price of 50¢, no taxes and qty increments of 20 should be displayed on product views with "$10 per 20". Without using taxes this should be quite easy. But there seems to be no "default" helper or model to do this with taxes enabled and different calulation algorithms (e.g. Mage_Tax_Model_Calculation::CALC_UNIT_BASE); expect for quotes in Mage_Tax_Model_Sales_Total_Quote_Tax and Mage_Tax_Model_Sales_Total_Quote_Subtotal. Did I miss something here, or do I have to write the business logic on my own? And how I would best encapsulate it?

I have a nib with a NSTableView with three columns (with the right identifiers set) and a class named ShortcutsTableController. In the nib I have a NSObject with class value ShortcutsTableController.   I know that ASP.NET MVC has error filter attribute to handle specified error type. However, this feature cannot catch any error that occurs when application start. Next, I try to solve this question by setting default redirect in custom errors like the following code. <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="Scripts/ApplicationError.htm"></customErrors> Unfortunately, it does not work because when application receive redirected request, it try to start application again and it throw exception again. • What does "single-bit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller" mean?

  I have a Dell T7600 with a Perc H710P RAID controller and 4 attached 3TB drives. Over the past few months the RAID controller has been intermittently reporting errors on boot: "no boot device found", "adapter at baseport is not responding", disks frequently reported as missing or failed. I have since replaced the RAID controller, the 4 hard drives, and finally the system's motherboard. After replacing the motherboard and rebooting a few times, I got the error Single bit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller. Please contact technical support to resolve this issue. After rebooting about 20 more times, I haven't seen the ECC error. The system seems otherwise OK, except for the fact that the disk fans will sometimes start blowing at full blast when the the system is sitting completely idle and not stop until I reboot. Are the ECC errors in memory on the RAID controller? Or, does the RAID controller map in system memory, and the ECC errors are really in system memory? Or, are the ECC errors in the 1GB cache that resides in the RAID controller?
