  • Google Maps v3, custom control with textbox: can't perform input

    - by Mike Sviridoff
Hi, I am trying to add a custom control to my google map (v3): want to have search box just near the other map controls. So I add a div with <input type="textbox"> on it, and it's being shown on the map. But the porblem is that the textbox is inaccessible: i can't type anything inside it, or even focus on it. function SearchBox() { var searchTextBox = $('<input type="text" id="txtGeoSearch" />'); var div = $('<div class="geoSearchBox"></div>') .append($('<span>Search:</span>')) .append(searchTextBox); return div.get(0); } // inside init() geoMap.controls[google.maps.ControlPosition.TOP_LEFT].push(new SearchBox()); So what should I do to make my textbox behave like normal one?

  • Detect browser focus/out-of-focus via Google Chrome Extension

    - by Paul
Is there a way to find out if Google chrome is in focus or out of focus? I'm creating an app which needs to know if the user is currently using the browser or not. By tying the detection through the content script in a Google extension, I've tried using blur and focus but the problem is that clicking on the address bar also fires a blur event. Same goes for detecting mouse movement, where moving the mouse outside of the viewing area will not be detected. I've also tried looking at onFocusChanged but it seems it only detects changes in chromes' windows not apps outside of Chrome. Anyone have other ideas for this? Also, would this be any easier if I created an add-on for firefox instead? Thanks!

  • Google Reader API HTTP Response parsing (Objective C)

    - by JustinXXVII
Using the API, trying to get items in a specific feed returns this: {“direction”:”ltr”,”id”:”feed/http://arstechnica.com/index.rssx”,”title”:”Ars Technica”,”description”:”The Art of Technology”,”self”:[{"href":"http://www.google.com/reader/api/0/stream/contents/feed/http://arstechnica.com/index.rssx?ot\u003d1273193172856169\u0026r\u003dn\u0026xt\u003duser/-/state/com.google/read\u0026n\u003d4\u0026ck\u003d1273193873\u0026client\u003diPadReader"}],”alternate”:[{"href":"http://arstechnica.com/index.php","type":"text/html"}],”updated”:1273193873,”items”:[]} They look like key/value pairs but it’s plain text with UTF8 String encoding and won’t encode into a dictionary. I’m using Objective-C and I’m not sure where to go from here. So far I’ve been able to parse the XML response for unread items, but parsing the plain-text doesn’t look feasible. What is your practice?

  • iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

    - by EagleOfToledo
I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  • Automate Google Chrome extension installation

    - by gtaborga
Hi everyone, I am working on creating a Google Chrome extension. We have it included in an automated build system and since it is constantly being worked on we need a solution to be able to package the extension as a .crx file which according to http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions/packaging.html can easily be scripted. My question is after packaging the extension is there a known method either through the command-line or some other programmatic way, to install the newly packaged extension in an automated manner? If someone knows how or has any reference material that I can be pointed towards I would greatly appreciate any help that is offered. Thank you.

  • ArrayList throwing exception on retrieval from google datastore (with gwt, java)

    - by sumeet
I'm using Google Web Toolkit with java and google datastore as database. The entity class has arraylist and on trying to retrieve the data from data base I'm getting the exception: Type 'org.datanucleus.sco.backed.ArrayList' was not included in the set of types which can be serialized by this SerializationPolicy or its Class object could not be loaded. For security purposes, this type will not be serialized. I'm using JPA. Entity code: package com.ver2.DY.client; import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.ArrayList; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; import javax.jdo.annotations.PrimaryKey; import com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.IsSerializable; @PersistenceCapable public class ChatInfo implements Serializable, IsSerializable{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long topicId; @Persistent private String chatTopic; @Persistent private ArrayList messages = new ArrayList(); @Persistent private boolean isFirstPost; public ChatInfo() { } public Long getTopicId() { return topicId; } public void setTopicId(Long topicId) { this.topicId = topicId; } public String getChatTopic() { return chatTopic; } public void setChatTopic(String chatTopic) { this.chatTopic = chatTopic; } public ArrayList getMessages() { return messages; } public void addMessage(String newMsg) { messages.add(newMsg); } public boolean isFirstPost() { return isFirstPost; } public void setFirstPost(boolean isFirstPost) { this.isFirstPost = isFirstPost; } } Method in db class: @Transactional public ChatInfo[] getAllChat() { PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); List chats = null; ChatInfo[] infos = null; String query = "select from " + ChatInfo.class.getName(); try{ chats = (List) pm.newQuery(query).execute(); infos = new ChatInfo[chats.size()]; for(int i=0;i } It is a bit strange because earlier I was able to insert and retrieve the data but it now throwing an exception. On searching the web I could find that I need to convert the Arraylist from some DataNucleus type to java util but not sure how to do that.

  • Using PHP/MySQL with Google Maps

    - by Anders Kitson
Hiya, I followed this tutorial below http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlajax_v3.html#outputxml I ran into trouble, near then end, I am hoping someone else here has got this working and can help me discover my problem. Simply there are 4 steps to this tutorial Creating the Table Populating the Table Outputting XML with PHP Creating the Map I successfully have completed all the steps, however the outputted xml isn't read by the google map I created. The files are all on the same directory, and I didn't change any of the file names from the tutorial. The tutorial has a step to test if the php file called phpsqlajax_genxml.php is outputting the xml and I successfully tested it and it was. The problem is that the map isn't rendering the items I have in the database, that should be converted to xml for the map to read. Any help, or pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

  • Unable to send mail through Google SMTP with PHPMailer

    - by bartclaeys
Hello, I'm trying to send out mail using Google's SMTP in combination with PHPMailer, but I can't get it to work. This is my code: $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; $mail->SMTPAuth = true; $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; $mail->Username = "[email protected]"; $mail->Password = "**********"; $mail->Port = "465"; First I do not fully understand what should be filled in as 'SMTPSecure', some say 'ssl', other say 'tls'. Next for 'Port' I could enter '465' or '587'. But none of the combinations work... Note that I'm using a regular Gmail account and not Google Apps. In my Gmail account I've enabled 'POP access'. The error I get is: "Must issue a STARTTLS command first". Which means SSL failed, but don't know why...

  • How to disable "buy now" button in Google book preview popup window

    - by Emanuel
I use Google Book API to display a book preview in my web page. This works fine, but I don't want to show "Buy now" button. For loading preview I use the following code: var viewer = new google.books.DefaultViewer(viewerCanvas, {showLinkChrome: false}); viewer.load(isbn); On the server this code does not work. I tried to save the page locally and when I opened it to my surprise the "Buy now" button disappeared. Why this not work on my server still I could not figure out. Any help is welcome. Thanks.

  • Google Search api for Android systems

    - by jrharshath
Hi, I'm trying to build an android app that would do a local search on google. I know there is a Google Search API for Java, and I am able to use it for a desktop application. However, when I use the same jar file (gsearch.jar) in my android project, Some problems arise. When I call the .localSearch() method of my gsearch.Client object, a runtime error is occurring. The error message is: "java.lang.VerifyError: gsearch.Client". This message is occurring in the Dalvik Debug Monitor log. So what is the problem here? Can I not use the search API on the android? More importantly, how do I do a local search from an android app? Does the android sdk have search APIs inbuilt? I could only find the Maps api, and Map search is not what I'm looking for.. Thanks for the help, jrh

  • MVC in a Google App Engine Java world

    - by thatismatt
I'm coming to Java from C# & ASP.NET MVC, I'd love to find an equivalent in the Java world that I could use on the Google App Engine. I've already started to have a play with FreeMarker and even made the first steps towards writing a very simple framework. Ideally I wouldn't have to do all the hard work though, someone must have done this already! So my question is - what frameworks are there out there that would be familiar for me coming from ASP.NET MVC and I could use them on Google App Engine for Java. The key things I'd want are: Simple Routing - /products/view/1 gets mapped to the view action of the products controller with the productid of 1 Template Engine - some way of easily passing 'ViewData' to the view, and from the view easily accessing it, ideally I'd love to avoid anything that is too XMLy (thus why I like FreeMarker).

  • Google Charts of SSL

    - by Ian
Hi, I need to get the free Google charts working over SSL without any security errors. I am using c# and asp.net. As Google charts does not support SSL by default, I am looking for a robust method of using there charts but ensuring my user doesn't get any security warnings over their browser. One thought was to use a handler to call the charts api and then generate the output my site needs. Similar to Pants are optional blog post. I haven't been able to get this example working at this stage. Any suggestions, or samples are welcome. Thanks

  • Datanucleus/JDO Level 2 Cache on Google App Engine

    - by Thilo
Is it possible (and does it make sense) to use the JDO Level 2 Cache for the Google App Engine Datastore? First of all, why is there no documentation about this on Google's pages? Are there some problems with it? Do we need to set up limits to protect our memcache quota? According to DataNucleus on Stackoverflow, you can set the following persistence properties: datanucleus.cache.level2.type=javax.cache datanucleus.cache.level2.cacheName={cache name} Is that all? Can we choose any cache name? Other sources on the Internet report using different settings. Also, it seems we need to download the DataNucleus Cache support plugin. Which version would be appropriate? And do we just place it in WEB-INF/lib or does it need more setup to activate it?

  • Google Bot information?

    - by Bub Bradlee
Does anyone know any more details about google's web-crawler (aka GoogleBot)? I was curious about what it was written in (I've made a few crawlers myself and am about to make another) and if it parses images and such. I'm assuming it does somewhere along the line, b/c the images in images.google.com are all resized. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was all written in Python and if they used all their own libraries for most everything, including html/image/pdf parsing. Maybe they don't though. Maybe it's all written in C/C++. Thanks in advance-

Do you know why this is happening, and how to get the preferred & expected output?

  • change the class loading order google app engine java

    - by Shekhar
I am trying to create an application on google app engine using struts2. Struts2 internally uses freemarker .One of the Freemarker framework classes suppose X internally uses a class javax.swing.Treenode which is not in google app engine jre white list. Now in order to run my application i created a new class X in the same package structure as it was in freemarker framework and copied the class to WEB-INF classes. Then When i run my application it run fine. The problem is that i want to take out the class X from my application sourcecode and move it to newly created jar and place it in WEB-INF/lib folder. So that i can reuse the code in multiple project and my code remains clean of the freemarker code. But when i run the application it picks the old class X from the original freemarker framework. As a result i get ClassNotFoundException. Can anyone provide any help such that i can change the ClassLoading order such that my jar containing X class loads first.
