  • Filter a List via Another

    I have a requirement to filter a list of Clients based on if they haven't had any jobs booked in the last x months. In my code I have two lists, one is my Clients and the other is a filtered List of Jobs between today and x months ago and the idea is to filter Clients based on their id not appearing in the jobs list. I tried the following: filteredClients.Where(n => jobsToSearch.Count(j => j.Client == n.ClientID) == 0).ToList(); But I seem to get ALL clients regardless. I can easily do a foreach but this severly slows down the process. How can I filter the client list based on the job list effectively?

    In the form we have this where IntaktsBudgetsType is a poorly named enum that only specifies wether to populate the datagridview after customer or product (You do the budgeting either after product or customer) private void UpdateGridView() { bs = new BindingSource(); bs.DataSource = intaktsbudget.GetDataSource(this.comboBoxKundID.Text, IntaktsBudgetsType.PerKund); dataGridViewIntaktPerKund.DataSource = bs; } This populates the datagridview with a database view that merge the product, budget and customer tables. The logic has the following method to get the correct set of IList from the repository which only does GetTable<T>.ToList<T> public IEnumerable<IntaktsBudgetView> GetDataSource(string id, IntaktsBudgetsType type) { IList<IntaktsBudgetView> list = repository.SelectTable<IntaktsBudgetView>(); switch (type) { case IntaktsBudgetsType.PerKund: return from i in list where i.kundId == id select i; case IntaktsBudgetsType.PerProdukt: return from i in list where i.produktId == id select i; } return null; } Now I don't want to use a database view since that is read-only and I want to be able to perform CRUD actions on the datagridview. I could build a class that acts as a wrapper for the whole thing and bind the different table values to class properties but that doesn't seem quite right since I would have to do this for every single thing that requires "the merge". Something pretty important (and probably basic) is missing the the thought process but after spending a weekend on google and in books I give up and turn to the SO community.

    Given an account with a list of transactions I would like to output a query that shows each transaction with the rolling balance (just like you would see on an online banking account). However, I have Services which call Repositories and didn't really want to put the sproc call in the Repository.

I tried /configuration/lcmp:MyNode which is wrong because lcmp is the URI, not the prefix. I tried /configuration/{lcmp}MyNode which failed because Additional information: '/configuration/{lcmp}MyNode' has an invalid token. EDIT: I can't use mgr.AddNamespace("df", "lcmp"); as some of the answerers have suggested. That requires that the XML parsing program know all the namespaces I plan to use ahead of time. Since this is meant to be applicable to any source file, I don't know which namespaces to manually add prefixes for. It seems like {my uri} is the XPath syntax, but Microsoft didn't bother implementing that... true?

My first instinct was to do something like: // object target is a parameter passed to the method in which I'm doing this. if (supportedTypes.Count( supportedType => target is supportedType ) > 0) { // Yay my object is of a supported type!!! } ..but that doesn't seem to be working. Can I not use the "is" keyword in a lambda expression like this?

    I'm having an issue with the Where clause in a search, in my original version EF4 I could add a Where clause with 2 parameters, the where clause (string predicate) and a ObjectParameter list such as var query = context.entities.Where(WhereClause.ToString(), Params.ToArray()); since my upgrade to EF5 I don't seem to have that option am I missing something? This was originally used to build dynamic where clause such as "it.entity_id = @entity_id" then holding the variable value in the ObjectParameter. I'm hoping I don't have to rewrite all the searches that have been built out this way, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

    With a DataContext and a blank file-based database that already exists, is it possible to write the Data Context classes (i.e. the ones I added to the designer) to create the db schema? With a data context I only see the abilities to either: create a new database file and have its structure created at the same time, or to populate data into an existing database having preexisting schema. I'm looking for a hybrid solution between those two worlds. Update 1: My proof that a preexisting db is not compatible with the Data Context CreateDatabase() operation is this error Database 'C:...\App_Data\IntermediateData.mdf' already exists.   • is it possible to write data to a collection in wpf?

    Hello. In looking through samples I have seen a number of examples where it is possible to present data within a wpf applicaiton by binding to collections. However I was wondering is it possible to write to a collection from an applicaiton. Say for example i have 2 or more fields such as names and I wanted to have hte ability to add up to three names in my application ( all stored in memory). Will collections serve this purpose. In the past with asp.net I have done this by creating data tables and storing values on the fly or during the session. I am trying to learn WPF and I was wondering if collections work in the same fashion? If so could you please post an example or point me to references that show examples of this?     the situation: a user on the page in question selects a category from a dropdown which then dynamically populates all the users of that category in a second dropdown beside it. all the data is being retrieved using LinqtoSQL and i was wondering if this can be done a) using html.dropdownlist in a strongly typed view? b) using jquery to trigger the ajax request on selected index change instead of a 'populate' button trigger? sorry i dont have code as what i was trying really wasnt working at all.     I'm using asp.net mvc and creating a public website. I need to keep track of users that are online. I see that the standard way in asp.net of doing this is to keep track of LastActivityDate. My question is when should I update this? If I update it every time the users clicks somewhere, I will feel a performance draw back. However if I do not do that, people that only surf arround will be listed as offline. What is the best way to do this in asp.net MVC?
