  • Migrating an Access Database into SharePoint 2007.

    To my surprise and delight I read that an adminsitrator can import (nearly directly) an Access 2007 database into a sharepoint site. Automagically, the database in transformed into lists and views with some table lookup thrown in for good measure. With Access 2007 installed on the client machine, even the forms and what not can still be reused. To me... this sounds to good to be true. Has anyone actually dones this? With all this good news, where is the bad stuff and pitfalls to this. Depending on the size of the database, wouldn't this some how "gum up the works" in the SharPoint database?     Hi: I have to update some fields of a table of access according to the value of parameter. If this paramter is "true" I need to update. Table idInvoice price percentageTax1 tax1 percentageTax2 tax2 total Example values: idinvoice: 12300 price: 100 € percentageTax1: 10 % tax1= 10€ percentageTax2: 5 % tax2: 5€ total: 115 € (result: 100€+10€+5€) Ok. If the parameter on that I have commented before is "true" I must update the percentages and then update the total. I need to replace the "old" percentages by new percent. Ok I can do it in 3 queries: update invocies set percentageTax1=20,tax1=price *(percentageTax1/100) where idInvoice=@number and percentageTax1=10 update invocies set percentageTax2=7,tax2=price *(percentageTax2/100) where idInvoice=@number and percentageTax2=5 update invocies set total=price+tax1+tax2 where idInvoice=@number . But my question is: is there any an alternative to do this in 1 query?

    here is my query $sql = 'SELECT * FROM Orders INNER JOIN [Order Details] ON Orders.OrderNumber = [Order Details].OrderNumber WHERE Orders.CartID =2 AND [Order Details].Option10 Is Null AND [Order Details].Status="Shipped"'; this queries when entered in MS_Access sql view, returns the correct results, but when I copy and paste the same query in my php script, it fails and gives the error Too few parameters, expected 1... although data is there, query is working in access... Please note if I omitted on AND condition, it works eg if I removed shipped conidtion or is null condition, it works then too.. any hint? whats wrong with it?? any help?thanks

    Employees Signups on company Website for advance overtime line. Access table already has overtime signups which does not require user to add the time but it requires only to add location as approved. Since this table has field Employee name, Date, start time and End time and location, All the fields has the data except for location. In the data base I have created a form based on this table. Since the table already have most of the information User only has to add location in the form field in order to approve overtime. Once user approves an overtime line for example: User approves overtime for employee name 'John' which starts on 7/1/2013 at 0400-0800, location is successfully added. When user tries to add location for John again which might has the start time for 7/1/2013 at 0600=0900. Again we are not entering Start time, End time and date it is already in the table. we are only entering location as approval. Soon user enters the location for John in the form field, since there is a conflict with previously overtime line which has already been approved. program needs to check employee name, date and time in previously approved (Added location) overtime line and The location in current record needs to be deleted and go to next record.     DoCmd.TransferText acImportDelim, Import-Accounts, "tableImport", _ "C:\Documents and Settings\accounts.txt", True The second parameter: Import-Accounts is the actual name of the saved import specifications. supposedly it does NOT need to be in quotes; however in this case since there is a - there it is treating it as if i were doing an operation. is there a way i can force it to treat it literally instead of as an operation?

  • Using Word COM objects in .NET, WinWord process won't quit after calling Word.Documents.Add

    I'm running into the classic scenario where, when creating Word COM objects in .NET (via the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word assembly), the WinWord process won't exit even though I'm properly closing and releasing the objects. I've narrowed it down to the use of the Word.Documents.Add() method. I can work with Word in other ways without a problem (opening documents, modifying contents, etc) and WinWord.exe quits when I tell it to. It's once I use the Add() method that the process is left running. Here is a simple example which reproduces the problem: Dim oWord As New Word.Application() oWord.Visible = False Dim oDocuments As Word.Documents = oWord.Documents Dim oDoc As Word.Document = oDocuments.Add(Template:=CObj(sTemplatePath), NewTemplate:=False, DocumentType:=Word.WdNewDocumentType.wdNewBlankDocument, Visible:=False) ' dispose objects oDoc.Close() While (Marshal.ReleaseComObject(oDoc) < 0) End While oDoc = Nothing oWord.Quit() While (Marshal.ReleaseComObject(oWord) < 0) End While oWord = Nothing As you can see I'm creating and disposing the objects properly, even taking the extra step to loop Marsha.ReleaseComObject until it returns the proper code. Working with the Word objects is fine in other regards, it's just that pesky Documents.Add that is causing me grief. Is there another object that gets created in this process that I need to reference and dispose of? Is there another disposal step I need to follow? Something else? Your help is much appreciated :)

Each time the function is called to store a value, it should allocate the next cell of the A column to store that object. However, an exception is thrown by the Interop library on the first call to get_Range().   • COM AddIn for Outlook Tries to Install Self on Startup

    Hi, I have an outlook addin that I have been developing for some time now, and am experiencing a problem. If I have a computer with two 'administrator' users (call them User A and User B), the addin installs and runs just fine as long as the same user tries to run it. In other words, if User A installs the addin, then User A has no problem using. The strange behavior comes in when we see the following scenario: User A installs the addin (for all users), User B launches outlook and observes that the addin is trying to install itself yet again. If User B cancels out of the 'install', he can then go and use the addin just fine. Right now, I use office's registry key propagation to do an 'all users' install, and I inspected the registry for any duplications and found none. I even used the officeins tool to try and detect if there was any duplication going on, and found none. I'm really bewildered as to why the addin would try to install itself over and over again. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

    I've seen several examples where Marshal.ReleaseComObject() is used with Excel Interop objects (i.e., objects from namespace Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel), but I've seen it used to various degrees.   • Using Interop.Word, is there a way to do a replace (using Find.Execute) and keep the original text's

    I'm attempting to write find/replace code for Word documents using Word Automation through Interop.Word (11.0). My documents all have various fields (that don't show up in Document.Fields) that are surrounded with brackets, eg., <DATE> needs to be replaced with DateTime.Now.Format("MM/dd/yyyy"). The find/replace works fine. However, some of the text being replaced is right-justified, and upon replacement, the text wraps to the next line. Is there any way that I can keep the justification when I perform the replace?     We have a Linux box (Ubuntu 12.04) running Nginx (1.5.2), which acts as a reverse proxy/load balancer to some Tornado and Apache hosts.   • I have 5 days of vouchers for MS training… help me choose? [closed]

    I'm a Microsoft centric guy (systems engineering side) and I already know the syntax of VB, have done VBScript pretty extensively and Excel VBA stuff as well. I want to make the leap into proper programming, probably with C# because it teaches me syntax I can use for Java if I want to go that route at some point. Since I have vouchers for 5 days of programming, and I can understand logic and understand how the .NET framework works... I would love to hear ideas on which MS Courses I should take. My primary focus is to work on web applications with web services that interact and do neat stuff... like for example, to create a 'chat' room or something interactive on the web. Or should I do something with HTML5/JS? I am really not sure... like I said, I want to work to make web services/sites. Not making the next Facebook mind you, but I'd like to work towards something in that spectrum on a much smaller scale. Please give me any advice, I'd like to book these classes asap Obviously getting involved with SQL and things that I will require would be important here.. you guys know better than me! Thanks!

  • How to react to an office harassment based on my profession ? [closed]

    A lot of my co-workers (not developers, people from the other departments) who are framing me in the classical "nerd" stereotype, and with that acting disturbing towards me. Of course they are not aggressive or anything, since we are in a work environment having rules on it's own, plus we are all grownups now, but they are on a "quite war" against me (not particularly against me, they are against all developers, but I am the only one who dares to speak about it). I hear names, "nerd", "geek", "cyborg", "outsider" and so on, it's really inappropriate. Of course, nothing is said in our faces, but, you know, "you hear things over". Also this general feeling of "them not liking us at all" can be sensed in the air all the time. And while it is not a problem for a few weeks, a larger duration of constant office harassment (going for months now), can be really annoying and can cause a serious drop in the development performance, which will (inevitably) lead to problems with the management (maybe getting me fired). I want to know, should I continue with my current defensive strategy (passively ignoring their inappropriate labels) or should I switch into a more aggressive maneuvers, like giving them logical reasons why their antisocial behavior should be banned?
