Well as the title says what language is good for a beginner and for a hobby? I'll probably be making some games or desktop apps with a gui most likely. I'll be working in Windows and Linux.     Hi, I'm a college student majoring in computer science. I know java and will be learning C++ the next couple years at school. I want to add another language to my repertoire and have gotten conflicting advice: Ruby, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, among others. I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the relative value of each of these languages in the job market, the ease of learning of each of the languages, and just personal preferences when it comes to the languages mentioned above.     I have a scenario, i need to send click events to an independent application. I started that application with the following code. private Process app; app = new Process(); app.StartInfo.FileName = app_path; app.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = dir_path; app.Start(); Now i want to send Mouse click message to that applicaiton, I have specific coordinates in relative to application window. How can i do it using Windows Messaging or any other technique. I used [DllImport("user32.dll")] private static extern void mouse_event(UInt32 dwFlags, UInt32 dx, UInt32 dy, UInt32 dwData, IntPtr dwExtraInfo); It works well but cause the pointer to move as well. So not fit for my need. Then i use. [DllImport("user32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = false)] static extern IntPtr SendMessage(IntPtr hWnd, int Msg, int wParam, int lParam); It works well for minimize maximize, but do not work for mouse events.     My gstreamer Pipeline is like this Approach1 --------------input-selector->Queue->AduioParser->AudioSink | Souphttpsrc->tsdemux-->| | --------------- Queue->videoParser->videoSink In this approach 1, there is a delay in audio decoding when I toggle between various audio language. Approach2 ------ input-selector-> Queue->AduioParser->AudioSink | Souphttpsrc->tsdemux---multiqueue>| | ------- Queue->videoParser->VideoSink But there is no delay is observed in approach2. Can anyone please explain the reason behind this ? what is the specialty of multiqueue here?

  • Unable to diligently close the excel process running in memory

    I have developed a VB.Net code for retrieving data from excel file .I load this data in one form and update it back in excel after making necessary modifications in data. This complete flow works fine but most of the times I have observed that even if I close the form; the already loaded excel process does not get closed properly. I tried all possible ways to close it but could not be able to resolve the issue. Find below code which I am using for connecting to excel and let me know if any other approach I may need to follow to resolve this issue.   • What is the benefits and drawbacks of using header files?

    I had some experience on programming languages like Java, C#, Scala as well as some lower level programming language like C, C++, Objective - C. My observation is that low level languages separate out header files and implementation files while other higher level programming language never separate it out. They use some identifiers like public, private, protected to do the jobs of header files. I saw one benefit of using header file (in some book like Code Complete), they talk about that using header files, people can never look at our implementation file and it helps with encapsulation. A drawback is that it creates too many files for me. Sometimes, it looks like verbose. It is just my thought and I don't know if there are any other benefits and drawbacks that people ever see and work with header file This question may not relate directly to programming but I think that if I can understand better about programming to interface, design software.

    I'm using Python, for what it's worth, but will accept answers in any applicable language. I've tried writing to /proc/$pid/cmdline, but that's a readonly file. I've tried assigning a new string to sys.argv[0], but that has no perceptible impact. Are there any other possibilities? My program is executing processes via os.system (equivalent to system(3)) so a general, *NIX-based solution using an additional spawning process would be fine.

    What are the things that Java (the language and platform) got categorically right? In other words, what things are more recent programming languages preserving and carrying forward? Some easy answer are: garbage collection, a VM, lack of pointers, classloaders, reflection(?) What about language based answers? Please don't list the things Java did wrong, just right. Currently I am using the simpleanalyzer, as it seems to handle the broadest amount of languages. Most of the documents to be indexed will be english, but there will be the occasional double-byte language indexed as well.   • How to check if a process is running or got segfaulted or terminated in linux from its pid in my mai

    Hello all, I am invoking several processes in my main and I can get the pid of that processes. Now I want to wait until all this processes have been finished and then clear the shared memory block from my parent process. Also if any of the process not finished and segfaulted I want to kill that process. So how to check from the pid of processes in my parent process code that a process is finished without any error or it gave broke down becoz of runtime error or any other cause, so that I can kill that process. Also what if I want to see the status of some other process which is not a child process but its pid is known. Code is appreciated( I am not looking for script but code ).
