• Does Delphi really handle dynamic classes better than static?

  Hello, I was told more than once that Delphi handles dynamic classes better than static.Thereby using the following: type Tsomeclass=class(TObject) private procedure proc1; public someint:integer; procedure proc2; end; var someclass:TSomeclass; implementation ... initialization someclass:=TSomeclass.Create; finalization someclass.Free; rather than type Tsomeclass=class private class procedure proc1; public var someint:integer; class procedure proc2; end; 90% of the classes in the project I'm working on have and need only one instance.Do I really have to use the first way for using those classes? Is it better optimized,handled by Delphi? Sorry,I have no arguments to backup this hypothesis,but I want an expert's opinion. Thanks in advance!

• cant get my listbox to display objects

  Hello everyone I've been trying to put some objects in an ASP.NET list box but its just not working. I do have an overriden ToString method so I cant understand why this statement wont work. • Click Once doesn't create StartMenu entry and Shortcut on Windows 7 x64

  I've application that I deploy to share with ClickOnce so other users can install it and use it on their own machines. It worked fine till i noticed that when i install this app on my own machine (Windows 7 x 64) it doesn't add StartMenu (even thou it installs correctly and I have it in Control Panel / Programs). I didn't had that problem when my development machine was Windows XP. Application also deploys fine on other Windows XP computers. Also during installation (when i rerun setup) even thou I already have Net Framework 3.5 it always wants to install one (it starts that and terminates few seconds later - probably installer sees that it's already there). I can run application straigit from share just a bit of pain to do it. Are there some special settings I should do? Or some patches? I have Visual Studio 2008 and system with all optional updates installed. Application is written in C# and uses NET 3.5.

  Hi there, i need a Function Pointer from a base class. Here is the code: class CActionObjectBase { ... void AddResultStateErrorMessage( const char* pcMessage , ULONG iResultStateCode); ... } CActionObjectCalibration( ): CActionObjectBase() { ... m_Calibration = new CCalibration(&CActionObjectBase::AddResultStateErrorMessage); } class CCalibration { ... CCalibration(void (CActionObjectBase::* AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG )); ... void (CActionObjectBase::* m_AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG ); } Inside CCalibration in a Function occurs the Error. I try to call the Function Pointer like this: if(m_AddErrorMessage) { ... m_AddErrorMessage("bla bla", RSC_FILE_ERROR); } The Problem is, that I cannot compile. The Error Message says something like: error C2064: Expression is no Function, that takes two Arguments. What is wrong? regards camelord

• JavaScript Metaprogramming: Reduce boilerplate of adding functions to a function queue

  I'm working with animation in JavaScript, and I have a bunch of functions you can call to add things to the animation queue. Basically, all of these functions look like this: function foo(arg1, arg2) { _eventQueue.push(function() { // actual logic } } I'm wondering now if it would be possible to cut down on this boilerplate a little bit, though, so I don't need that extra "_eventQueue" line in the function body dozens of times. Would it be possible, for example, to make a helper function which takes an arbitrary function as an argument and returns a new function which is augmented to be automatically added to the event queue? The only problem is that I need to find a way to maintain access to the function's original arguments in this process, which is... complicated.

A) In some block/method i want to control concurrent to not greater than 5 B) if there are 5 request in that block , the new coming must wait up to 60 second then throws error C) if there are sleep/waiting request most then 30,throws error How I do this? 2)(Optional Question) from above I have to distribute control logic to all clustered host. I plan to use hazelcast to share the control logic (e.g. current counter) I see they provide BlockingQueue & ExectorService but I have no idea how to use in my case. Please recommend if you have idea.

• Mysql adapter for Zend_Translate

  Hi everybody, I'm currently in the planning phase of a rather large project that I'll develop in the Zend Framework. One of the problems I'm facing is that the customers will want to translate not only the content but also the interface. I'm currently using gettext and poedit to manage my language files but this is not an option for the customer as they, for one, want have FTP access to the site. Hence, I'm thinking of a mysql back end with an interface in the front end for the customer to manage his own translations of the interface. There is however still no mysql adapater for Zend_Translate. So, does anybody now of an adapter script for Zend_Translate so it can work with a mysql table? Or any arguments against using mysql and possible other solutions for this problem?

• how can I implement Comparable more than once?

  I'm upgrading some code to Java 5 and am clearly not understanding something with Generics. I have other classes which implement Comparable once, which I've been able to implement. But now I've got a class which, due to inheritance, ends up trying to implement Comparable for 2 types. Here's my situation: I've got the following classes/interfaces: interface Foo extends Comparable<Foo> interface Bar extends Comparable<Bar> abstract class BarDescription implements Bar class FooBar extends BarDescription implements Foo With this, I get the error 'interface Comparable cannot be implemented more than once with different arguments...' Why can't I have a compareTo(Foo foo) implemented in FooBar, and also a compareTo(Bar) implemented in BarDescription? Isn't this simply method overloading?

• Multiple actions upon a case statement in Haskell

  One last question for the evening, I'm building the main input function of my Haskell program and I have to check for the args that are brought in so I use args <- getArgs case length args of 0 -> putStrLn "No Arguments, exiting" otherwise -> { other methods here} Is there an intelligent way of setting up other methods, or is it in my best interest to write a function that the other case is thrown to within the main? Or is there an even better solution to the issue of cases. I've just got to take in one name.

• VS 11 with std::future - Is this a bug?

  I recently installed the Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. While playing with threads and futures, I came around this setup: #include <future> #include <iostream> int foo(unsigned a, unsigned b) { return 5; } int main() { std::future<int> f = std::async(foo, 5, 7); std::cout << f.get(); } So, very simple. But since there are two arguments for "foo", VS 11 doesn't want to compile it. (However, g++ does: http://ideone.com/ANrPj) (The runtime error is no problem: std::future exception on gcc experimental implementation of C++0x) (VS 11 errormessage: http://pastebin.com/F9Xunh2s) I'm a little confused right now, since this error seems extremely obvious to me, even if it is a developer preview. So my questions are: Is this code correct according to the C++11 standard? Is this bug already known/reported?

• Custom tool error: Command.proto:11:18: "Message2" is not defined.

  I am using the latest version of protobuf-net with VS2008 integration. I have created 2 messages (Message1 and Message2), 1 message in 1 proto file. When I try to reference Message2 in Message1 the code generator tool gives me error "Message2" is not defined and won't generate the code file. The package for both messages is same. It look like that because of the integration of the tool with VS2008 it expects all the messages in same .proto file to compile. Currently I have to paste an empty message with same name in Message1.proto file, like this: message Message1 { optional Message2 message2 = 1; } message Message2 { } And then later on remove the declaration of class Message2 from Message1.cs. Are there any settings that I need to do so to avoid this error, or is providing an empty declaration the only way?

• Remove first element from $@ in bash

  I'm writing a bash script that needs to loop over the arguments passed into the script. However, the first argument shouldn't be looped over, and instead needs to be checked before the loop. If I didn't have to remove that first element I could just do: for item in "$@" ; do #process item done I could modify the loop to check if it's in its first iteration and change the behavior, but that seems way too hackish. There's got to be a simple way to extract the first argument out and then loop over the rest, but I wasn't able to find it.

• New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

  Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration. • Windsor Container: How to specify a public property should not be filled by the container?

  When Instantiating a class, Windsor by default treats all public properties of the class as optional dependencies and tries to satisfy them. In my case, this creates a rather complicated circular dependency which causes my application to hang. How can I explicitly tell Castle Windsor that it should not be trying to satisfy a public property? I assume there must be an attribute to that extent. I can't find it however so please let me know the appropriate namespace/assembly. If there is any way to do this without attributes (such as Xml Configuration or configuration via code) that would be preferable since the specific library where this is happening has to date not needed a dependency on castle.

To take an example given a query for ISBN 9785554443331 - it returns "Chemistry the central science 11 edition" : new:$50 used good condition:$35 used poor condition:$20 If the return does not match with our product list an option to "click here to visit our partner" appears and which returns: Atextbook: $10 Btextbook: $10 Ctextbook: $9 Dtextbook: $8.50 I understand that the first search would be done simultaneous on the web and our database to determine whether or not we have the book and the web to get the average of the price of a given list of web site.   I have an interface: public interface IMech { } and a class that implements it public class Email implements IMech { } and a third class that has this method implemented: public void sendNotification( Class< IMech > mechanism ){ } now I'm trying to call that method like so foo.sendNotification(Email.class); but i keep getting an exception saying: The method sendNotification(Class<IMechanism>) in the type RemediationOperator is not applicable for the arguments (Class<EmailNotification>) Shouldn't this work if it interfaces that class?

• Prevent query string manipulation by adding a hash?

  To protect a web application from query string manipulation, I was considering adding a query string parameter to every url which stores a SHA1 hash of all the other query string parameters & values, then validating against the hash on every request. Does this method provide strong protection against user manipulation of query string values? Are there any other downsides/side-effects to doing this? I am not particularly concerned about the 'ugly' urls for this private web application. Url's will still be 'bookmarkable' as the hash will always be the same for the same query string arguments. This is an ASP.NET application.

  I recently noticed the CallByName keyword in VB6. Since this takes a object, procedure name, "call type" and arguments array, can this be used to "fake" some types of polymorphic behavior?
