• emacs exporting org file as PDF in batch mode

  I'm trying to export a bunch of org mode files to PDF using emacs in batch mode. So far, only export to html seems to work. When I export to html I see the following - U:\tmpd:\programs\emacs-23.1\bin\emacs.exe -batch --visit=Changelog.org --funcall org-export-as-html-batch OVERVIEW Exporting... Exporting... Saving file u:/tmp/Changelog.html... Wrote u:/tmp/Changelog.html HTML export done, pushed to kill ring and clipboard However, there is no function like org-export-as-pdf-batch and so I tried the following. U:\tmpd:\programs\emacs-23.1\bin\emacs.exe -batch --visit=Changelog.org -eval "(org-export-as-pdf \"Changelog.pdf\")" OVERVIEW Exporting to PDF... Exporting to LaTeX... Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, "Changelog.pdf" Any ideas on how to export to PDF? My org-mode version is 6.35i with on Emacs 23.1. I'm on WinXP.

• Embedding binary blobs using gcc mingw

  I am trying to embed binary blobs into an exe file. I am using mingw gcc. I make the object file like this: ld -r -b binary -o binary.o input.txt I then look objdump output to get the symbols: objdump -x binary.o And it gives symbols named: _binary_input_txt_start _binary_input_txt_end _binary_input_txt_size I then try and access them in my C program: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> extern char _binary_input_txt_start[]; int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { char *p; p = _binary_input_txt_start; return 0; } Then I compile like this: gcc -o test.exe test.c binary.o But I always get: undefined reference to _binary_input_txt_start Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

• Problems with ASP.NET State Service version; state service is 1.1, website is 3.5

  Hi there, I have a ASP.NET 3.5 website running on Windows Server 2003 and I'm using the ASP.NET State Service to manage sessions. It will appear to be working then I regularly get an error saying my code needs to have version 2.0 of the State Service running to work (I think that's what it said, I've temporarily switched back to storing sessions InProc). Refresh the page and the error goes away (for a bit, it's bound to come back). So I looked at the properties of the ASP.NET State Service in the Services interface and it's mapping to a .exe in the 1.1 framework folder: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_state.exe There's a corresponding version in the 2.0 framework folder, but I don't know how to add it as a new service. I'm also not sure that adding the 2.0 version (and stopping and/or removing the 1.1 version) will solve the problem. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. Mick

• Possible apache/mysql/php wrapper?

  I was tasked with writing a smallish program for data input and manipulation. My language of choice happens to be PHP. I have written out the program/site it all works fine is easily portable and everything but have one question. Is there anyway to wrap up apache/mysql/php into a bundle of one exe? I know of MoWes Portable and other options but I am looking to basically wrap everything up into a single exe without much fuss to the end user. My target users are very low on the computer savvy scale. I am trying to avoid a batch file for launching and don't really want them able to shutdown one part on accident and not another (IE shut off mysql but leave apache on).

• Icons in Windows Form Applications (VS2008)

  This is yet another question about .ico files. I have read through many pages trying to figure this out but I am unable to. When I go to Properties - Application of my Windows Form Application there is a place for me to pick the icon for my application. I have made a 32x32 icon and it takes it just fine, but the image is grainy when it is applied to my .exe file, like it is a picture that has been expanded more than it should have. 1.) Why is this? 2.) Is there any .ico file size other than 32x32 than a Windows Form Application can accept? I have tried 48x48 but it doesn't like that. I just want my .exe file to look nice!

Could it be that the string A::getString() returns is being allocated in A.dll and freed in main.exe? If so, why - and what would be a safe way to pass strings between DLLs (or executables, for that matter)? Without using wrappers like shared_ptr with a custom deleter.

  I want to build an application client(client.exe) - server to do the following: when the clients run it they are thrown in a VPN and they can communicate each other within 1 applicataion. For example : clients run client.exe and they can see each other in LAN ONLY in Starcraft. From what i have read the right type of vpn for this situation is Secured Socket Tunneling Protocol: "Secure socket tunneling protocol, also referred to as SSTP, is by definition an application-layer protocol. It is designed to employ a synchronous communication in a back and forth motion between two programs. It allows many application endpoints over one network connection, between peer nodes, thereby enabling efficient usage of the communication resources that are available to that network. " Question: I don't have experience with networking programming so my question for the ones who have, is this the right approach? PS1: i don't want something done like OpenVpn, i do this as learning exercise.   Hello everybody. I'm building a Visual Studio Package and associated with it, I have an app.config file (which contains some information about connecting to a WCF service). As far as I can tell, this package is actually connecting to the devnev.exe.config configuration file (if I use AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile), it will retrieve the path to the devnev.exe.config Firstly, is this correct? Shouldn't the package automatically pick up the app.config file? If this is the case, then how can I make the project use the app.config file? I'm running VS2010 Ultimate, programming in C#. Thanks!

  (Using Windows 2000 and 2003 Server) We use forfiles.exe to delete backup .zip files older than n days, and it works great (command is a bit like below) forfiles -p"C:\Backup" -m"*.zip" -c"cmd /c if @ISDIR==FALSE del \"@PATH\@FILE\"" -d-5 If a .zip file fails to be created, I'd like to ensure that we don't end up with 0 .zip files in the backup after 5 days. Therefore, the command needs to be: "delete anything older than 5 days, but ALWAYS keep the most recent 5 files, EVEN if they themselves are older than 5 days" We can use forfiles.exe or another solution (although anything that is a slick one-liner is ALWAYS preferable to a script file). What I'd like the achieve: 1, User runs exe 2, Exe unpacks files, runs updater 3, If updater detects and error, prompts the user to send log in e-mail 4, After the updater is run, temporary files are deleted (some of these files are dlls used by the updater program, so the updater has to be closed before the files can be deleted) Can anyone recommend a good solution? What I need to do now is to call this macro from command-line. At the moment we can do this by using the -mMacroName parameter of 'winword.exe', i.e. \winword.exe -mMacroName. But this need the macro to be already available as a global macro. • Launching a process on startup in ubuntu fails to start other processes

  On Ubuntu Server I've written a c++ program which launches another process which is in python. The c++ process runs fine on startup but the python process never launches. It gets created and when I run "top" I can see that both process's are running but next to the one that says python it reads python defunct. I've created the startup script in /etc/init.d and updated rc.d. Is there something else I have to do in order for it to see the python application?

  Hi, I would like to run SSIS 2008 packages on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it. I have a simple package to test the concept, but it fails to execute. The return code is 9020 which I have not seen listed as a return code elsewhere. I have copied the following files to the test server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it: SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig Package.dtsx DTExec.exe I am attempting to run the package using a batch file.
