• Address rewriting postfix

  I am using CentOs5 and postfix as an MTA for my server. My situation is as follows:- I have a mail server through which Php applications connect and send mails to the destination addresses. The problem is that the the application servers do not have spf/dkim record set up and my server which actually relays the mails to the network has spf/dkim records. So i want the mail sent by an application having a return address:[email protected] to change to [email protected]. r09.4reseller.org is hostname of my mail server. This i have done by generic mapping in postfix: smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic In /etc/postfix/generic: [email protected] [email protected] This is working as return address is changed to [email protected] when mail is sent. But when i try to sent mail on [email protected] I don't get mail on [email protected]. I have tried virtual mapping in postfix i.e by the file /etc/postfix/virtual but its not helping.

• How to bulk mail-enable contacts from AD in Exchange 2007?

  Hello, We have several thousand 'contacts' setup in AD already for a faxing system. We're migrating to an online fax provider that uses e-mail rather than plain old telephone. So, we've bulk edited all the AD records so that the 'mail' attribute is populated with the right e-mail address in the right format. Now, how do we enable these contacts within Exchange 2007? I've looked through http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb684891.aspx but that only seems to talk about manually editing the CSV output to specify the external addresses. AD already knows the external e-mail addresses - I just need the info in Exchange! Any thoughts?

• Audio splitting and noise removal on Windows

  My mother has about 100 hours of audio in a mix of MP3 and WAV files, the digitized versions of her vinyl records. Each file contains about 5 songs with a few seconds of (noisy) pause between them. My mother needs software for Windows XP with which she can listen to the files, find the gaps manually, split the files at the gaps found, reduce noise on each song, and export the songs to individual MP3 files. My mother has very limited software user skills and affinity, and she doesn't speak English. The simpler the software, the better for her, even if noise reduction is worse than with a more sophisticated, but more complicated software. I'd prefer free software, freeware or shareware (which can do all above). Please recommend something much simpler than Audacity. The software should guide the user through the process, always showing the next few available steps, and being intuitive in the sense that there are only a few allowed actions and it's obvious what they are and how to activate them. Which software would you recommend?

  Hi All, Is it possible to emulate my customer production environment inside my AD domain by just creating the same domain inside my primary DNS server ? Can I created mycustomer.com DNS zone (STUB) just for the sake of listing few database servers and application servers and then for the other DNS records eg. MX, NS and the other refer to the REAL MX record entry so that my Exchange Server email flow is unaffected to mycustomer.com ? because if I just create A record in my current domain for some of the servers, the FQDN is not exactly what I want. • Sql Server 2008 Create Foreign Key Manually

  I have inherited an old database which wasn't designed very well. It is a Sql Server 2008 database which is missing quite a lot of Foreign Key relationships. Below shows two of the tables, and I am trying to manually create a FK relationship between dbo.app_status.status_id and dbo.app_additional_info.application_id I am using SQL Server Management Studio when trying to create the relationship using the query below USE myDatabase; GO ALTER TABLE dbo.app_additional_info ADD CONSTRAINT FK_AddInfo_AppStatus FOREIGN KEY (application_id) REFERENCES dbo.app_status (status_id) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE ; GO However, I receive this error when I run the query The ALTER TABLE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_AddInfo_AppStatus". The conflict occurred in database "myDatabase", table "dbo.app_status", column 'status_id'. I am wondering if the query is failing because each table already contains approximately 130,000 records? • How do I create DNS entries for EC2 instances created by Auto Scaling?

  I'm looking into using auto scaling groups for a tier of webservers that would be fronted by an ELB. One of the things I'm having a hard time with is how to give each new instance the proper DNS name. For example, I'd like webservers to have names like frontend-web-XXX.prod.example.com so their names would appear correct in logs and just ease of organization. I have two other tiers I'd ultimately like to make autoscaled and I'd like them to have names like api-web-XXX.prod.example.com as well. I have some experience with cloudformation templates and have spun up individual instances with associated Route53 records but I don't see any indication of how this can be done within an autoscaled group.

Background: I've servers configured to consult ldap://ldap.internal for NSS passwd and group lookups. • incorrect DNS entries on server 2008 r2

  On the main DC (windows server 2008 R2 standard) in our network I have to clear some old DNS entries every now and then in the Forward and Reverse Lookup Zones. I have set the server Aging/Scavenging settings to Scavenge stale resource records, with both the No-refresh interval and Refresh interval to 5 days. Yet every now and then I still have to logon to the sever and remove the DNS entries for computers that is not part of the domain anymore or has been renamed ect. Is there a different way to automatically remove the old entries?

  PaymoPlus is free (closed source but no fees) PaymoPlus sits in my System Tray all day, and records every window/tab I open I would like to know if a similar app exists for Debian. Paymo for Windows/Mac has the additional sweet feature of being able to drag and drop working windows/tabs and the time spent into the tasks, but one can live without this. I would at least need to know which tasks got how much time in a 'sum total' calculation so I can enter that time into my Paymo reporting. Any ideas? Paymo does have a desktop widget for Linux but it is a dumb (non-sentient) manual time entry tool, not like Paymo Plus automatically recording everything being done.

• Bind9 forwarding zone not working

  i've setup a forwarding zone on a RHEL6 Bind server like this: zone "office.local" IN { type forward; forward only; forwarders { 192.168.0.2; 192.168.0.3; }; }; when i try to query using dig @127.0.0.1 monitorsms.office.local i see the following message in the syslog: client 127.0.0.1#39376: query: monitorsms.office.local IN A + (127.0.0.1) validating @0x7ff7640357d0: monitorsms.office.local A: bad cache hit (monitorsms.office.local/DS) google tells me, that there is an issue with DNSSEC, but both servers do not have DNSSEC configured and thus do not send any DNSSEC records. What's wrong with my configuration?

• Have two exchange servers to communicate together

  We have Exchange Server 2007 using our domain ddd.com. We created an isolated network with a firewall/gateway and installed a DC and Exchange Server 2010 using a demo/test domain (ddd.loc). We opened all the needed ports in the firewall (10.10.2.88) to the Exchange Server 2010. In our main Domain Controller (10.10.2.3) we defined the domain ddd.loc with IP 10.10.2.88 (firewalls). We also we defined MX records to the same IP (10.10.2.88) We did that so when we send email from my email [email protected] it will go to the Exchange Server 2010. Anyways, all the pings test from to any servers are OK. But we are not able to send or receive emails. Between these Exchange Servers we can not send any email from the 2010 to any email in general (emails are pending). Also, in Exchange 2007 we are getting error #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##

  I have a php file under php called test.php set to run every 5th minute of the hour. When ever I run the file manually (by going to the web browser and runnint the path) it works fine. • windows VPS running apache and mysql, php scripts running slow.. but cpu usage is 1-3%..

  So every night I run some cron jobs. It requires probably about 20 min to process all the records. I gather the script does something like 10,000 sql queries. I figure this task was just that intense and needs time to complete, but I looked at CPU and memory usage, and it is super low. Cpu usage is between 1-3% and once in a while will bounce to 50ish for 2-3 seconds. This VPS is running windows 2003 server with Apache and MySQL. Does this sound right?

• Setting up a DNS port redirect?

  I have a domain using CloudFlare's DNS, I want to make it redirect to my server's IP (dynamic IP, port 21 blocked by ISP) which at the moment uses a No-IP DNS. The current setup is that I have a subdomain as a CNAME targetting the No-IP domain, but that only works for things like the Minecraft server (which looks for a set port that isn't blocked by my ISP), and I'd like a solution that lets me redirect port 21 from the CloudFlare domain to port 2121 on the No-IP domain, or something else that points to my dynamic IP, where an FTP server is already set up and running. I've had SRV records mentioned to me but without any further help, and it only made me more confused. Thanks in advance for the help.

  Situation: I have a single windows 2008 server with a single public IP address. I have multiple domains with wildcard A records pointing to the single IP address. I need each domain to be hosted by a different web site. (i.e. www.domain1.com by site domain1site) I need domain1.com to act like www.domain1.com I need each site to be able to have multiple subdomains (i.e. www.domain1.com, abc.domain1.com, xyz.domain1.com) Not relevant yet here it goes, I plan to handle each subdomain by a different application hosted in the same site (i.e. application /xyz in domain1site) However I found out that IIS7 does not support creating web sites with wildcard host name binding and setting it without any subdomain (i.e. domain1.com) does not work, even for www.domain1.com. Is there a simple solution? Does any IIS Extension like Application Request Routing provide such capability?

• Nameserver Problem

  I installed Virtualmin GPL with BIND, etc. I created a virtual host for my main domain, and edited the zone file, added the A records for the nameservers ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. All looks good from the VPS, whenever I do a dig or nslookup, all seems fine, returning correct details. But when I test externally, there are no results. I tried several sites such as intodns, etc. It says my nameservers doesn't point to any IP. I have registered my nameservers with the appropriate IP in my registrar, and I even contacted support to verify this, and they told me that the registration was successful, but when they dig my nameservers, there's no ip address. I can also connect to my server IP's port 53. Also, I know that the DNS propagation is 24-48 hours. But there has to be some server that can return the correct results by now. Please lead me to the right direction, thanks.

• How do I determine what Excel-2007 is removing when it repairs my file?

  Summary: Excel repairs my file, tells me what was removed, I go into the xml/zip structure to investigate, and I cannot figure out what was changed. Does anybody know what I can do to better understand what Excel changed? Is it futile to try to determine? It feels like this should be possible and like I'm almost there... Details: When I open a file that I have renamed unnamed.xlsm, I receive the following notice: "Excel found unreadable content in 'unnamed.xlsm'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the sounce of this workbook, click Yes." I know the file is safe, I click yes, and I receive a message that "Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content." It provides the following summary, but also provides an xml file which seems to contain the same content so I did not show it. Summary: Removed Records: Shared formula from /xl/worksheets/sheet3.xml part Removed Records: Formula from /xl/calcChain.xml part (Calculation properties) In order to determine issue, I have created a copy of the offending file, renamed it to have a '.zip' ending, opened up the files that Excel says it modified (sheet3), and perused the xml content, but this was not informative. I tried saving the repaired file and doing a simple diff on the xml for sheet3, but there are many changes and this is not informative either. I did the same thing for calcChain.xml and this was more useful. After saving the displayed xml with line breaks in text format, it was easy to identify the items that have been removed, but now I want to make sense of them. Perhaps they give clues of what happened to shee3. The following comparison is long, but I don't know if the entire train of differences is relevant. • Bind include all zones in a folder

  I have a webapp that acts as a DNS manager, writing all zones to "/var/named". I would like to be able to configure named to load all zones in that folder, without explicitely having to tell it which zone goes to which file. Is that remotely possible? The reason for this is that i will be having a lot of zones added/deleted and a lot of records for each of them. I was thinking for using a database for that, but the idea of doing 500 record inserts scares me (it needs to be snappy). It's easier to write to a file. Any suggestions?

  One of our companies uses Postini services as our spam filtering service. Unfortunately, the company has been tagged as a spammer and we're trying to use emailreg.org to whitelist us. Emailreg.org wants us to add a CNAME which points to their domain (emaireg.org), while Postini has us add MX records (such as domainname.s7a1.psmtp.com. Here are my questions: 1. Can adding Emaireg's CNAME cause either Postini to not work or our emails to be lost? 2. Which is order of execution (do the email go to Postini and upon their return to EmailReg or is it the other way around)? 3. Is there anything of which I should be aware when using such a setup? • Tuning MySQL to consume less memory

  I have a VM which has 2GB Ram, (full specs) And I am setting up a site which has one table in particular with over a million records. There's little or no usage of this particular database (perhaps once or twice a day) but simply running mysql grinds the whole server to a halt. I've looked through the top results but nothing is really denting the CPU however the memory seems to be the issue. The site isnt even live of taking requests yet. the memory situation looks like this: # free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2006 1880 126 0 3 53 -/+ buffers/cache: 1823 183 Swap: 2047 345 1702 Are there any good pointers to tune mysql to stop hogging the system memory? • Are changes to the date and time logged in Windows Server?

  We've recently gone into British Summer Time in the UK. One of our techs, anticipating the move, decided to change the time on one of our servers. Bad move. This server happens to have a number of time-based incidents logged to it, and as a result of this change, the times are unreliable. I'm trying to build a concrete timeline of when the clock was changed so I can apply corrective action to our time-based records. My question is:- Does Windows record date and time changes anywhere so I can get hard, actual data? Thanks
