I can easily write an app using 7z or winrar but is there an app that i can feed a long list of filenames and have it automatically go through my folders and unzip files it finds?
There are times when instead of scrolling vertically in file explorer I accidentally move a folder to within another folder. Great! It happens so quick I don't know which folder was moved and this means I just screwed up an application installation.
Is there a way to undo this operation? Or someway to disable moving of folders by default?
Using Windows 7.
Hi, on Mac, you know there is no 'merge files' when you command+c/command+v some folder on another one, it actually replaces it. I'm simply wondering on what UNIX is this based? Because correct me if I'm wrong, but "cp - R" DOES merge files, no? And that's what I'm doing via the Finder, copying some files and folders...
thanks!
I tried to follow this tutorial frome ghacks.net. But I end up with a bug. Everytime I try to change the desktop background or the theme. It opens up lots of folders. And then close it back again. So I cannot do anything when I try to change the background or the theme to the default.
Here is the tutorial
And I can't even shutdown my machine now, please help.
I did some reorganisation of my mail in Lotus Notes 7 this mornign, and seem to have lost some in the process.
Not knowing Notes very well, I have two questions:
if I selected some mail in the Inbox using the check-column, and dragged that mail into a folder, then selected some more mail in the Inbox, and hit the Del key, will the group of emails that were dragged into the other folder be deleted too, because I didn't unselect them?
is there a way to search in all folders, rather than just the current folder?
I'm looking for a script/program which will display the top x largest directories/files and then descend into those folders and display the x largest directories/files for a configurable depth.
231MB bin
- 220MB ls
- 190MB dir
- 15MB def
- 3MB lpr
- 10MB asd
- 1MB link
How can I do that?
It's always been hard for me to add a music folder with subfolders to Windows Media Player's playlist. I double click a file in the folder (or click on WMP shortcut), WMP opens, and I drag the other files or folders manually to the playlist.
Isn't there an option to add a right-click context menu item that can automatically add all audio contents in a folder (with subfolders) to WMP playlist?
I have an account with a hosting company and I have FTP access, how do I find this file
/usr/local/lib/php.ini
When my root directory after looging in to ftp includes the following folders
-admin_backups
-domains
-imap
-Maildir
-user_backups
I have connected my Internet to a buffalo air station router and a swtich. Computers and Laptops on this network connect to the Internet wired and wirelessly.
I would like to share files locally on this network but I can't access the laptop's which connect wirelessly.
I have shared folders on each computer but I would like to know if local file sharing is possible as all the computers utimately connect to the same router.
All computers are running Windows 7.
I'm using Skydrive to store the music I purchase from Zune in the cloud so that I can share the songs with my wife's computer. However, I don't want to sync all the subscription music which is music I haven't purchased.
Zune puts all the subscription music into the default music folder in a separate folder called Subscription.
Is there a way to have just this folder somewhere else?
I know you can't currently exclude folders in Skydrive, otherwise I would just take this route.
HI
We are looking to backup between 50-100 servers to a NAS box each night (Contains of each server ie files and folders).
We need the backup application to backup to a NAS and perform incremental backups following the full backup. We also need to be able to store versions of each file. The full backup will probably be about 5TB.
Does anyone know a a cheap or free application which will do this?
Thanks
Let's say I have Windows installed on drive C, however I install all of my programs on the D drive, and I keep my user profile on the D drive as well (things like My Documents). How can I have Windows use those folders instead of the ones on the C drive?
I need to ftp a directory over to another system and I don't want to have to recreate all the folders on the other system by hand. How would I do this?
EDIT: I can't install anything so rsync etc are out....can only use windows native stuff
I went to open Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 32bit machine and it came up with this error:
Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened.
I have deleted and created a new profile in Control Panel Mail but it still doesn't want to work properly but it still comes up with this message.
Thanks in advance.
I'm currently trying to download a full magneto install from a ftp server. The connection keeps failing, it seems as if there are too many files and folders to scan through?
Can anyone shed any light on how to resolve this? The shared platform seems to b e a standard platform based on Plesk 8.6.
As this is a shared server, there is no option for me to really do anything, apart from contact the hosting company (who have offered to zip up all the files for me, but this is not ideal)
I use the following commands to sync folders. Each command requires me to type in the password. How can I group these commands to only enter the password once? Thanks.
rsync -ave ssh /opt/lampp/htdocs/new/folder1/ [email protected]:/home/folder1/
rsync -ave ssh /opt/lampp/htdocs/new/folder2/ [email protected]:/home/folder2/
rsync -ave ssh /opt/lampp/htdocs/new/folder3/ [email protected]:/home/folder3/
I currently have a variety of folders on Outlook 2010 which connects to my works Exchange server.
I have all the emails received from clients added to the correct folder, what I want to do is make any emails in the recipient address (i.e. I've been cc'ed in to an email sent from another user) to be also moved.
Is it possible to achieve this server side opposed to using the "with @domain.com in the recipients address" rule which is client side only?
I have a batch file intended to replace all instances of tracking.js within a folder/sub folders.
FOR /R "D:\Virtual Servers (Testing)\CourseWare Master\Shared\Jenison\Version1.2\" %%I IN (tracking.js*) DO COPY /Y "D:\Virtual Servers (Testing)\CourseWare Master\Shared\Jenison\tracking.js" %%~fI
When this is run I get the following syntax error
C:COPY /Y "D:\Virtual Servers (Testing)\CourseWare Master\Shared\Jenison\track
ing.js" D:\Virtual Servers (Testing)\CourseWare Master\Shared\Jenison\Version1.2
\SHAPERS_COMBINED\Smarter Communications\WhatisInfluencing\script\Tracking.js
The syntax of the command is incorrect.
Ideas please?
seeing how it does not do a write verify unless scripted (or is it needed?) is it a decent option to dump a few folders to another server? i am just worried about whether the data, after being copied, might be corrupted but you would not be aware of it being buggy?
i have used it in the past without issue but am seeking feedback in case i missed something obvious.
Mailing lists are great, but they're a fundamentally different beast than email. It seems strange to me to keep mailing lists in my email program (Gmail). Of course I have folders set up to automatically keep them out of my inbox, but if I have hundreds of mailing lists, it gets really out of hand.
Is there an application (or web application) that is designed specifically as a mailing list "client"?
I have a web server that I use to host my websites. I have all the websites in folders in /srv/www. There is a Wordpress site that I want to give SFTP access to another developer, how would I go about doing this so that they only have access to /srv/www/thesite.com and not any other directories?
Running Ubuntu 9.04.
Apache 2.2
CentOS
Plesk 9.x
I am using Plesk to manage my domain names on my virtual host.and GoDaddy for DNS
I have created a new sub-domain blog.
I can see the httpd.include for example has a new virtualhost entry for blog.example.com
I can also see folders have been created for the subdomain blog vhost\example.com folder
But when I try to go to blog.example.com - I get an error - basically the host is not getting resolved
My site - example.com is working fine otherwise
Any idea what could I be missing ?
I did try restarting the apache web server as well
I have a pretty big (~30GB) email archive (Outlook + Exchange: .ost file) and I would like to use the Outlook Search Feature (Windows Search technology).
I would like to exclude some folders from the indexing (at least the "spam" folder!) but it seems there is no option for that in the standard configurations.
Is there any other way (registries, etc) that can I accomplish this?
I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.
Thanks!
I just noticed a few directories in C:\ with long, random hex values. Each of these contains an update directory.
When I click on the update directory, I get an access denied message, even though my account has admin privileges (XP Home).
Two questions: How can I delete these folders, and how is it possible to restrict a folder this way?
As many, I find it handy to have emails organized by folders, but I don't like the fact that sent mails are in a separate folder.
My idea would be that when I answer to an email that is already in a folder, the answer is placed automatically in that same folder.
Is there a script or a plugin to do this in Mail.app?
The corresponding add-on for thunderbird is Copy sent to current
