  • C# Sorting Question

    - by betamoo
I wonder what is the best C# data structure I should use to sort efficiently? Is it List or Array or what? And why the standard array [] does not implement sort method in it? Thanks

  • How can I make kml data look like google maps?

    - by celenius
I have a program that generates a .shp file, and exports this as a kml file. I would like to be able to display my output using the standard google map 'map' style (gray background, yellow streets, etc) in google earth, or in the google earth api. Is there a style guide or method that I should be using? Any thoughts appreciated - I wasn't sure how to structure this question. Thank you.

  • Java - Common Gotchas

    - by Alan
In the same spirit of other platforms, it seemed logical to follow up with this question: What are common non-obvious mistakes in Java? Things that seem like they ought to work, but don't. I won't give guidelines as to how to structure answers, or what's "too easy" to be considered a gotcha, since that's what the voting is for. See also: Perl - Common gotchas .NET - Common gotchas

  • Extract part of a git repository?

    - by Riobard
Assume my git repository has the following structure: /.git /Project /Project/SubProject-0 /Project/SubProject-1 /Project/SubProject-2 and the repository has quite some commits. Now one of the subprojects (SubProject-0) grows pretty big, and I want to take SubProject-0 out and set it up as a standalone project. Is it possible to extract all the commit history involving SubProject-0 from the parent git repository and move it to a new one?

  • Python Sets vs Lists

In Python, which data structure is more efficient/speedy? Assuming that order is not important to me and I would be checking for duplicates anyway, is a Python set slower than a Python list?

  • Dojo - How to position tooltip close to text?

    - by user244394
Like the title says i want to be able to display the tooltip close to the text, currently it is displayed far away in the cell. Tobe noted the tooltip positions correctly for large text, only fails for small text. In DOJO How can i position the tooltip close to the text? I have this bit of code snippet that display the tooltip in the grid cells. Screenshot attached, html <div class="some_app claro"></div> ... com.c.widget.EnhancedGrid = function ( aParent, options ) { var grid, options; this.theParentApp = aParent; dojo.require("dojox.grid.EnhancedGrid"); • Hash Map Usage and Idea

    - by Anand
Hi, I have been working in Java for the last 6 months and have been using Hash Maps What is the basic idea of a Hash Map ? I am using it as it easy for me to store so much data with direct key references rather than having to iterate through an arraylist ? Where is the power of Hash Map seen ? What is the scientific idea behind this data structure ?

  • barriers in SMP linux kernel

    - by osgx
Hello Is there smth like pthread_barrier in SMP Linux kernel? When kernel works simultaneously on 2 and more CPUs with the same structure, the barrier (like pthread_barrier) can be useful. It will stop all CPUs entering to it until last CPU will run the barrier. From this moment all CPUs again works.

  • What is a good software development plan?

    - by Totophil
Whilst browsing through answers on SO I came across something that is, in my view, one of the more frequent software development management misconceptions: "[software development] plan is a reasonably detailed description of all the activities you need to undertake". Hence the question: what is good software development plan? Can it be boiled down just to a work breakdown structure; is WBS the single most important thing for a software development plan anyway?

  • Good Administration Center Templates

    - by Alec Smart
Hello, This may not be a programming question per se. But I am wondering what template do you use for your sites/webapps admin centers. Am looking primarily at free templates that give a basic structure. I know I can build my own, but I haven't had too much success in something that works for all my webapps/sites. Wondering if there is something nice and comprehensive available. Thank you for your time.

  • 3d symmetry search algorithm

    - by aaa
this may be more appropriate for math overflow, but nevertheless: Given 3d structure (for example molecule), what is a good approach/algorithm to find symmetry (rotational/reflection/inversion/etc.)? I came up with brute force naive algorithm, but it seems there should be better approach. I am not so much interested in genetic algorithms as I would like best symmetry rather then almost the best symmetry link to website/paper would be great. thanks

  • XML Return from an Oracle Stored Procedure

    - by Tequila Jinx
Unfortunately most of my DB experience has been with MSSQL which tends to hold your hand a lot more than Oracle. What I'm trying to do is fairly trivial in tSQL, however, pl/sql is giving me a headache. I have the following procedure: CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE USPX_GetUserbyID (USERID USERS.USERID%TYPE, USERRECORD OUT XMLTYPE) AS BEGIN SELECT XMLELEMENT("user" , XMLATTRIBUTES(u.USERID AS "userid", u.companyid as "companyid", u.usertype as "usertype", u.status as "status", u.personid as "personid") , XMLFOREST( p.FIRSTNAME AS "firstname" , p.LASTNAME AS "lastname" , p.EMAIL AS "email" , p.PHONE AS "phone" , p.PHONEEXTENSION AS "extension") , XMLELEMENT("roles", (SELECT XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT("role", r.ROLETYPE)) FROM USER_ROLES r WHERE r.USERID = USERID AND r.ISACTIVE = 1 ) ) , XMLELEMENT("watches", (SELECT XMLAGG( XMLELEMENT("watch", XMLATTRIBUTES(w.WATCHID AS "id", w.TICKETID AS "ticket") ) ) FROM USER_WATCHES w WHERE w.USERID = USERID AND w.ISACTIVE = 1 ) ) ) AS "RESULT" INTO USERRECORD FROM USERS u LEFT JOIN PEOPLE p ON p.PERSONID = u.PERSONID WHERE u.USERID = USERID; END USPX_GetUserbyID; When executed, it should return an XML document with the following structure: <user userid="" companyid="" usertype="" status="" personid=""> <firstname /> <lastname /> <email /> <phone /> <extension /> <roles> <role /> </roles> <watches> <watch id="" ticket="" /> </watches> </user> When I execute the query itself, replacing the USERID parameter with a string and removing the "into" clause, the query runs fine and returns the expected structure. However, when the procedure attempts to execute the query, passing the results of the XMLELEMENT function into the USERRECORD output parameter, I get the following exception: Error report: ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows ORA-06512: at "USPX_GETUSERBYID", line 4 ORA-06512: at line 3 01422. 00000 - "exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows" *Cause: The number specified in exact fetch is less than the rows returned. *Action: Rewrite the query or change number of rows requested I'm baffled trying to nail this down, and unfortunately my google-fu hasn't helped. I've found plenty of Oracle SQL|XML examples, but none that deal with XML returns from a procedure. Note: I know that an alternate method of retrieving XML using DBMS methods exists, however, it's my understanding that that functionality is deprecated in favor of SQL|XML.

  • other way to add item do List<>

    - by netmajor
In my other ask You can see code of my arr structure and PriorityQueue collection. I normally add items to this collection like that: arr.PriorityQueue.Add(new element((value(item, endPoint) + value(startPoint, item)),item)); I am curious that is other way to do this (add element(which is struct) object to List) ? In lambda way for example ? I just eager for knowledge :)
