• Robocopy permission denied

  Robocopy is preinstalled with Windows 7. I've used it many times in the past. I tried to copy a folder to a remote share with robocopy c:\source "\\server\share\path" /s /r:2 /w:2` As a result I get permission denied. Using explorer I can copy files to this share. I've opened a command prompt with administrator permissions with the same result. The share is read/write for public. [EDIT] I've successfully mapped a driveletter to the share, but robocopy still fails EDIT I've added the /B switch without success. • Make bootable iso with grub chainloading

  My parents' pc has windows 7's boot manager installed at MBR and grub2 is installed on /dev/sda2 (booting linux on /dev/sda2). I want to make a bootable cd so that when booted from it just chainloads into the boot manager on the second partition. I assume using grub rather than grub2 for this will be simpler, using the configuration timeout=0 hiddenmenu default=0 title grub2 (/dev/sda2) rootnoverify (hd0,1) chainloader (hd0,1)+1 I know I can make a bootable linux cd in various ways, but that is not what I want. I just want to put grub/grub2 on the cd, no kernels or programs. The question is how do I make the iso file? I have found some references to installing on a floppy or usb disk, but all those assume the device is present when running the grub install commands. A iso file is different.

• MS Access 2003 - Format a Number with Commas AND Auto-Decimal

  On a report I have a control which is bound to a column which can have up to 3 decimal places. I want the number to format with commas separating thousands and millions, but I also want the number of decimal places to be automatic, so that if there is no decimal portion then no decimal at all is shown. 1234.567 -> 1,234.567 1234.560 -> 1,234.56 1234.500 -> 1,234.5 1234.000 -> 1,234 General format will give me the auto decimal places but no commas. Standard format gives the comma but is fixed to 2 decimal places. Doing my own =Format(Number, "#,##0.#") leaves the decimal point in and doesn't align properly, with extra space on the right of the number. Do I have to write my own VB function to give the format I want? It seems silly that Access (apparently) can't do this out of the box. • Access Western Digital My Book World II RAID array on my Ubuntu Linux

  Hi, My WD My Book World II (Blue Rings) NAS has overheated, I think the motherboard is dead. I extracted the disks and plugged them in my desktop PC running Ubuntu Linux. The disks seems to be alive, they are spinning and the BIOS recognize them but Ubuntu is not able to boot as soon as these drives are plugged in. I got an initramfs shell after few minutes telling explaining that the root disk is not available. I suspect that one of my WD drives took the precedence on the system ? Considering that Ubuntu is able to boot and can see my Western Digital disks... is it possible to access the RAID 0 array ? How ? Many thanks for your help, regards, -- Pierre Yager

• Files missing after copying from one sdcard to another using Ubuntu 12.04

  I have two Kingston sdcards 8GB and 32GB. The 8GB for HTC Sensation and 32GB for my Tablet (Chinese). I soon ran out of space on my phone and decided to swap the data between the sdcards. I copied the data of 32GB sdcard to my PC(with Ubuntu 12.04) deleted everything on the 32GB sdcard and copied data from the 8GB sdcard to the other sdcard. At last I copied the data from my PC to the 8GB sdcard(before this I deleted everything that was on it before). Now the problem is that the 8GB sdcard has the data exactly the same, but the 32GB sdcard has some missing data. All my photos(not copied or posted on Facebook) and Songs are lost. Please help as to what I can do to get my data back? I have Android Revolution HD (ICS 4.0.3) on my rooted HTC Sensation (India). I suspect it has something to do with my data loss.

I feel like Registry Mechanic is a good software--it was recommended to me at #computerhelp on irc.undernet.org, a long time ago, by an op that never steered me wrong, otherwise--, so I feel like I should give the issue due attention. • Powerpoint 2010 crash on quickstyle menu

  Windows 7 64-bit, recent install, added Office 2010. When I create some boxes and open the quick-style menu, it crashes (or stops responding, in windowese, and then it sends an error report). I've run the "Repair" from the installer, but it didn't help. There's nothing in Windows Update I've Googled and searched on Microsoft's site, but n Any other ideas? • How to set up a mini call center?

  I'm trying to figure out how to set up a miniature call center for a small business. Like, for 1-4 people to take calls, but hopefully expandable to more. We want to accept nation-wide calls, and then I guess distribute the calls among the available agents. If no one is available, I guess it should either put them in a queue and play some annoying music for them, or forward to call to an agent who has least-recently taken a call who can then quickly answer and say "please hold" until they're done their call. We want to have one phone number that customers can call. I guess we then need some kind of ACD system which would take each call and forward it to an agent based on some algorithm? Then we would need to purchase a separate phone line for each agent, plus one just for the distributor? Or do we need several "extra" lines to maintain a queue (one for each customer waiting too)? This "ACD" thing, is it just a device that you would plug a phone line into (or several?), and maybe connect to a computer, aided by some software? Or is a subscription thing that I would need from my local telephone provider? Next, the business we're running, the callers will be repeat customers. It would be helpful to automatically pull up their profile based on the incoming number. The "software" our agents will be running will just be a website where they can log in (preferably from home) and then enter some information they would obtain through the call. So, the system would have to somehow interface with the website if possible. If not, we'll just have to ask each customer for an identifier (phone number, username, customer number, or something). Is this possible? I guess each computer would need a device that the call would pass through, and then if I can somehow hook into that, then I can write some software that will interface with the site. So, where do I start? What hardware do we need to buy? What subscriptions do we need? We were thinking this magicJack might help us in accepting long-distance calls for cheaper, but my understanding is that they provide you with some weird-looking number, is there a way we could "mask" it with our toll-free number? And then pass the incoming calls through the distributor system, which would then get passed to the call-accepting device which would both allow an agent to answer the call and have a software hook? (I realize this might be partially out of the scope of SU, but I wasn't sure where else to ask. It is about computer(-aided) hardware and software anyway.) P.S.: I don't need any of that "press 1 to talk to..." or "say xyz to..." junk. Just a straight-forward, connect-to-next-available-agent system.

  I've been using konsole (KDE 4.2) for a while now but it crashed recently. Konsole is efficiently designed to use one instance for all of the windows for your entire X session. Extra-unfortunately, because of this ingenuity the crash brought down all the humpty-dumptys and their bashes and their bashes' applications and all the begattens' begattens all the way down to Jebodiah Springfield into one big flat nonexistent omelette. The fact that this app is capable of crashing under any circumstances is pretty disappointing. Although KDE 4.2 is not expected to be entirely stable -- and yes, I know, I should update my distro -- it's still a no-sell for me, since if at all possible, this sort of thing Shouldn't Happen to something that's likely to be a foundation for an entire working environment. Maybe this is arrogant and unrealistic, but if it's possible to have something more stable, I want it. So other than running under screen -- which is fun, nifty, and thus far flawless in its reliability, but which has some issues with not understanding certain keycodes -- I'm looking for ways to improve my environment's reliability. The most obvious strategy is to cast about for a more reliable console app. A standard featureset -- which to me includes tabbed windows, Unicode support, and a decent level of keyboard shortcut configuration -- is pretty much essential. I'm currently running gnome-terminal and roxterm, both of which have acceptable featuresets (pretty much identical, actually; I think rox is actually the superset), and neither of which have provided me with extensive, objective reliability data. Not that they were expected to. Other strategies are also welcome. Were I responding to this question I would perhaps suggest backgrounding critical tasks with & and/or disowning them so they don't come down with the global pandemic. And stuff like that.

Everything works fine except of the integrated camera which is supposed to be a USB device but is absent in the Devoice Manager. I've read that it is important in what order you install drivers when you downgrade this Vista preinstalled model to Windows XP so I repeated once again the installation with the correct order by still had no luck with the camera. • Intel Wireless 4965AGN not achieving N throughput when connected to an Airport Express N network

  I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adaptor in my laptop (HP Pavillion dv2000 series) which is connecting to a 5Ghz-only 802.11n network provided by an Apple Airport Express. The network is using WPA2 encryption. My desktop is also connected the Airport, via a Linksys WUSB600N USB adaptor. Both are running with the latest drivers, and the Airport is running the latest firmware. The Airport is also configured to use wide channels. The problem I have is that I never get throughput above 4MB/s when transferring files between the two machines. Even a pessimistic calculation shows a 270Mbps network as being capable of transfer rates at well above 10MB/s. I'm pretty sure I've isolated the issue to being the Intel adaptor, as wiring the desktop to the AP, and using the Linksys adaptor on the laptop immediately yielded speeds limited by the 100MB/s ethernet connection. I know that 802.11n is still a draft standard, and so mixing kit from different manufacturers can easily lead to poor results, but I was just wondering if anybody else out there has had success with this Intel adaptor on an N network? Or even better, connecting it to an Airport Express? Can anybody give me any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue? I should also mention that the Airport Express doesn't allow you to manually specify channels when running in N mode, and that I've been able to rule out interference from other Wireless LANs by scanning. There aren't any other 5GHz networks in my area. All ideas welcome! Update: A while later, I've just updated to the most recent drivers for both the Intel chip in the laptop, and the USB adaptor. Unfortunately this hasn't improved things :(. If anybody has any advice it would be be gratefully received.
