  • PHP Drupal alternatives

    - by Quinma
Based off answers to this question: Will I pick bad coding habits from PHP books? and many others it is a general consensus that PHP is not the most well suited language for web development anymore (if you are not completely knowledgeable about the language). I use Drupal and write custom modules in PHP, does this viewpoint of PHP being an ill fitted web coding language also apply to Drupal based PHP sites? I generally build community sites and intra-company sites, are there better means of building these than with PHP and drupal frameworks?

  • A marketing view of SQLBits

    - by simonsabin
One of the most enjoyable things about SQLBits is reading all the blog posts/reviews after the event. Most pieces are from attendees however this piece is from a wife of a sponsor http://iknowmarketing.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/events-community-vs-commercial/ . Its a nice piece for us as it highlights how we work and that how we focus on making the event personal for all those involved. We deal...(read more)

  • Digitally Signed Malware on the Rise

Brought to the forefront in 2010 with Stuxnet, the infamous worm aimed at sabotaging industrial infrastructure, the use of stolen digital certificates is relatively new. Stuxnet's creators digitally signed its rootkit components with stolen certificates from JMicron and RealTek, a pair of semiconductor manufacturers. In fact, many researchers predicted that malware creators would begin adopting the same technique to work around driver signature enforcement employed by Microsoft in its 64-bit versions of Windows V...

I'm using an Asus K43E laptop with: - Intel Core i3 Sandy Bridge 2.1GHz - 2GB DDR3 - Onboard graphics On the Ubuntu download page, the 32bit version is marked as "recommended", but the community documentation page suggests otherwise: Unless you have specific reasons to choose 32-bit, we recommend 64-bit to utilise the full capacity of your hardware.
