  Does anyone have a handy powershell script that gets a set of files from TFS based on a modification date? I'd like to say "give me all the files in this folder (or subfolder) that were modified after X/Y/ZZZZ" and dump those files to a folder other than the folder they would normally go to. I know enough powershell to hack about and get this done, eventually, but I'm hoping to avoid that.

  I just switched from Eclipse to NetBeans IDE 6.8 for my PHP/Ajax development. Eclipse always showed a little hard disk symbol over the file icon for files that were in sync with the svn repository, and an asterisk for files with changes that have not been committed. Is there a way to see the commit status in NetBeans? If not, what is your preferred way of recognizing which files to commit?

• Change permission of files with the owner 'apache'

  Hay, i have some files on my server with the owner set to "apache", I'm not quite sure how this happened. Anyway, i need to change the permission of these files to 0777 so i can download/edit them. However i cannot. I'm using a 1and1 Linux server and use Plesk to administrate it. I have the ability to login via SSH. However, if i run chmod or chown i get a "permission denied" error, and if i try to sudo chmod or chown it says the command cannot be found. When i go to edit my domain details, i get this option Shell access to server with FTP user's credentials and have these options /bin/sh /bin/bash /sbin/nologin /bin/bash (chrooted) /bin/rbash Any idea's how i should go about changing the permissions or changing the owner? • Can't access files on external drive after reformatting Macbook Pro

  I recently had to reformat my Macbook Pro, and imported my account and settings from Time Machine via the Migration Assistant. Everything on the Mac itself is fine, but now I don't have permission to access almost everything on my external drive. A number of folders have the little red 'no access' sign on them and I can't rename or move anything. Looking at the info for these files, it appears that access rights were attached only to my old user account. Is there some way to reassign these files and folders to my new user account? Thanks.

• Can't serve files without extension because they "appear to be script" on IIS7.5

  I created a certain number of static JSON files with no extension in a subfolder of my site. I want to use them for tests. The problem is that IIS is refusing to serve them because : HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. The folder is a subfolder of an ASP.NET application and I can't create an application just for it, neither can I change the parent application's application pool. Actually, I don't have access to the IIS configuration other than through the web.config file in the folder in question. I assume there must be a way to get a web server to serve static files, right?

• Wine not finding some files

  I'm having strange issues with Wine : If I look a C:\windows\system32\drivers\ in wine explorer, the directory looks empty, while the directory ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/drivers is not. Plus, having the H: drive mapped to my home directory, I can look at H:\.wine\drive_c\windows\system32\drivers and it is not empty, the files are here ! Thus it seems Wine has the rights to access these files. So why don't they appear on the C: drive ? Some of my programs need them.   I might be missing something but how do you manage Java projects in eclipse that need a lot of Jar files. I know maven manages libraries well if there are new updates but maybe I'm missing something, is there a way that eclipse can update new jar files (it would be especially useful for projects using apache-commons, say). I don't want to sound like asking for a feature request, but I'm looking at if there are ways to keep libraries jar files that a Java project uses to keep them updated automatically the way maven does. With more languages coming with this type of features, finding the right Jar files probably should be easier than this.

  EDIT: Looks like the problem was a rootkit that corrupted a bunch of low level linux commands, including top, ps, ifconfig, netstat and others. The problem was resolved by taking all web files off the server and wiping it. A dedicated server we operate is having a strange issue. Files are not be sent complete or are showing up with garbage data. Example: http://sustainablefitness.com/images/banner_bootcamps.jpg To make matters more confusing this corruption does NOT happen when the files are served as https, (I would post a link, but I don't have enough rep points, just add an 's' after http in the link above.) When I throw load at the server, I get dozens of (swapd)s in top this is the only thing that really jumps out. I can't post images but ( imgur.com / ZArSq.png ) is a screenshot of top.   I have a problem with XIB Files and localizations (Xcode 4.3, Mac Os X 10.7.4) My application supports french and english localizations. For my test, i decided to change the languages and regions from "french" to "english" in system preferences. When i launch my application, it displays always old XIB files (french) et not the XIB files "attached" to my new localization ! ** I followed all the recommendations which i was able to find : i cleared all caches, clean up the project, ... and so on ! The problem is always here and persists. Can be that XCode4 has the other files to delete somewhere else ? is it possible to use another means to test my new localization ? If you are a idea, ... • Storage setup for large files

  I need to store over 200TB of data (all types, biggest being video files) and be able to access it over a local network. The files will be accessed for editing or searches. I don't need versioning, but a setup that would keep me safe from harddrive failures would be nice. Right now the content is on different harddrives, some external drives, some regular. I don't exclude the possibility of buying new/extra drives if necessary. If they will ever be exposed to the web, it wont be to the public, but just a couple of people. I have no idea what to buy to make this happen. I see some NAS solutions over the internet like this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/a/2266043.p?id=1218317764591&skuId=2266043 but the storage is not enough, plus it doesn't seem to be scalable.   I have Google searched for an hour now and I am confounded. I am using InnoSetup to install a .NET Winforms application that creates directories and folders on the fly. (I have set the folder options to display hidden files, folders...) Although the files that are added to "created" folders appear within the application, they do not show when using Windows Explorer or even when issuing a Dir from a command prompt. I have also modified the application to display (and delete) the contents of these (seemingly imaginary) folders, so I am sure they exist. What am I missing?

• Bash or python for changing spacing in files

  Hi, I have a set of 10000 files. In all of them, the second line, looks like: AAA 3.429 3.84 so there is just one space (requirement) between AAA and the two other columns. The rest of lines on each file are completely different and correspond to 10 columns of numbers. Randomly, in around 20% of the files, and due to some errors, one gets BBB 3.429 3.84 so now there are two spaces between the first and second column. This is a big error so I need to fix it, changing from 2 to 1 space in the files where the error takes place. The first approach I thought of was to write a bash script that for each file reads the 3 values of the second line and then prints them with just one space, doing it for all the files. I wonder what do oyu think about this approach and if you could suggest something better, bashm python or someother approach. Thanks

• Copy files with filter (XP)

  I have a huge folder (over 6GB) with multiple sub-folders that I want to copy onto an external hard drive, however I do not want it to copy any PDF, EXE or ZIP files across to save space. Is there any software that will help me achieve this? I have looked at TeraCopy but this doesn't seem to have any filter mechanism on it. I am using Windows XP (* sigh *). *edit: found the xcopy command, will this do it? Can anyone help me with the syntax?

  I need to write a batch file to unzip files to their current folder from a given root folder. Folder 0 |----- Folder 1 | |----- File1.zip | |----- File2.zip | |----- File3.zip | |----- Folder 2 | |----- File4.zip | |----- Folder 3 |----- File5.zip |----- FileN.zip So, I wish that my batch file is launched like so: ocd.bat /d="Folder 0" Then, make it iterate from within the batch file through all of the subfolders to unzip the files exactly where the .zip files are located. So here's my question: Does the Windows (from XP at least) have a command line for its embedded zip tool? Otherwise, shall I stick to another third-party util?

• Considering modified files for rebuild

  I have a C++ project, I am using Bakefile for build process, Makefiles are generated for msvc, mingw, gnu etc for cross-platform support. Now the problem is that if I change any .h files (which are included in other .cpp files) and performing a rebuild does not recompile modified files. But changing any .cpp file gets recompiled. Based on modified time-stamp of any file which is included in the project I expect to consider that file for rebuild. Am I missing something which required to be added as a tag in .bkl files? Please help.

• Dreamweaver Files uploaded to Win 2008 server cause login prompt

  I have a customer who uses a 4 year old version of Dreamweaver to edit her webpages. My hosting reseller account is with a company that uses Windows Server 2008. Every time my customer edits a page and uploads it, I have to set the permissions for that file to be readable, manually from the site's control panel. The customer is furious with me because her files cause the login prompt. I am able to upload files myself that remain readable to the site with both Filezilla and with Frontpage. I am assuming that her Dreamweaver settings are the cause of the problem but I don't have that program myself and don't know what to advise her. Any suggestions?

• Windows 7 Locking Executable Files

  Since I've been using Windows 7 RTM (as opposed to the Beta and RCs), I've been having a peculiar issue with executable files. I first noticed it whilst using Visual Studio, in that when building a project, it would often fail saying that the output file was locked - but the problem has stemmed further. When I've executed an application, closed it (cleanly), and attempted to delete/move/rename/overwrite said file, Windows 7 tells me that the file is locked/access is denied. I've made use of software like LockHunter/Unlocker but it is seemingly unable to remove these locks (most of the time, it shows no locks at all). After about 5-10 minutes, the respective files are unlocked again, but needless to say this is a bit of a workflow-breaker (as it's not simply constrained to VS). I've done the usual tasks of virus/malware scanning, and turned up with absolutely nothing. I've got no peculiar services running, and the problem was not present before I installed a Windows 7 RTM version. Any help is greatly appreciated.
