  • 2D colliding n-body simulation (fast Collision Detection for large number of balls)

    - by osgx
    Hello I want to write a program for simulating a motion of high number (N = 1000 - 10^5 and more) of bodies (circles) on 2D plane. All bodies have equal size and the only force between them is elastic collision. I want to get something like but in larger scale, with more balls and more dense filling of the plane (not a gas model as here, but smth like boiling water model). So I want a fast method of detection that ball number i does have any other ball on its path within 2*radius+V*delta_t distance. I don't want to do a full search of collision with N balls for each of i ball. (This search will be N^2.) PS Sorry for loop-animated GIF. Just press Esc to stop it. (Will not work in Chrome).

  • Drupal module to manipulate every node's body

    - by sutch
    After importing content from a legacy website using the Feeds module, I'm left with node bodies that contains links back to the old website. Is there a Drupal module that will perform a one-time process to iterate through each node, manipulating the content of nodes using some custom code?

  • Access to selection in gmail message body with Google Apps Script

    - by Mike Ellis
    Can app scripts access the current selection in a gmail message? I frequently compose messages that include engineering calculations and make use of the Google Calc feature do the calculation or convert to the desired units, e.g. 4000 Btu/hr * 8 hrs in kWh It would be really convenient to be able to select the above, hit a mapped key (e.g. Ctrl-K) and have the inserted after the expression 4000 Btu/hr * 8 hrs in kWh = 0.9378 kWh instead of having to paste the expression into a search box and then copy and paste the answer. I could certainly write a solution using a keymapper and a small python script to grab the current selection, send it to the gcalc api, etc ..., but my real motivation is to get familiar with Apps Scripts's capabilities and limitations. I suppose the uber-question here is "what kinds of user actions and state information can App Script access in Gmail messages (and/or Google docs) that are being edited?"

  • (resolved) empty response body in ajax (or 206 Partial Content)

    - by Nikita Rybak
    Hi guys, I'm feeling completely stupid because I've spent two hours solving task which should be very simple and which I solved many times before. But now I'm not even sure in which direction to dig. I fail to fetch static content using ajax from local servers (Apache and Mongrel). I get responses 200 and 206 (depending on the server), empty response text (although Content-Length header is always correct), firebug shows request in red. Javascript is very generic, I'm getting same results even here: http://www.w3schools.com/ajax/tryit.asp?filename=tryajax_first (just change document location to 'http://localhost:3000/whatever') So, it's probably not the cause. Well, now I'm out of ideas. I can also post http headers, if it'll help. Thanks! • Accessing the buffered request body in HttpWebRequest?

    - by Greg Beech
    By default HttpWebRequest has AllowWriteStreamBuffering set to true, which means that all data written to the request stream is buffered inside the object. I'd like to access this buffer of data after it has been written, but can't seem to find any way to do so. I'm happy for it to fail if AllowWriteStreamBuffering is false. Is there any way to do this, or is it not exposed anywhere?

  • How to extract keywords from a body of text in PHP

    Currently I'm leveraging http://developer.yahoo.com/search/content/V1/termExtraction.html which isn't ideal for performance and quality reasons. Before I embark on spending time on writing a system I wanted to see if there are any other available options that can do the trick.

  • Can some explain why this wont draw a circle? It is drawing roughly 3/4?

    - by Brandon Shockley
    If we want to use n small lines to outline our circle then we can just divide both the circumference and 360 degrees by n (i.e , (2*pi*r)/n and 360/n). Did I not do that? import turtle, math window = turtle.Screen() window.bgcolor('blue') body = turtle.Turtle() body.pencolor('black') body.fillcolor('white') body.speed(10) body.width(3) body.hideturtle() body.up() body.goto(0, 200) lines = 40 toprad = 40 top_circum = 2 * math.pi * toprad sol = top_circum / lines circle = 360 / lines for stops in range(lines): body.pendown() body.left(sol) body.forward(circle) window.exitonclick()

  • Run Javascript on the body of a Gmail message

    - by saturn
    I want to display LaTeX math in the gmail messages that I receive, so that for example $\mathbb P^2$ would show as a nice formula. Now, there are several Javascripts available (for example, this one, or MathJax which would do the job, I just need to call them at the right time to manipulate the gmail message. I know that this is possible to do in "basic HTML" and "print" views. Is it possible to do in the standard Gmail view? I tried to insert a call to the javascript right before the "canvas_frame" iframe, but that did not work. My suspicion is that manipulating a Gmail message by any Javascript would be a major security flaw (think of all the malicious links one could insert) and that Google does everything to prevent this. And so the answer to my question is probably 'no'. Am I right in this? Of course, it would be very easy for Google to implement viewing of LaTeX and MathML math simply by using MathJax on their servers. I made the corresponding Gmail Lab request, but no answer, and no interest from Google apparently. So, again: is this possible to do without Google's cooperation, on the client side?

  • Help with regex pulling XML data from response body in PHP

    - by spdaly
    I am working on a project that pulls data from JMS queue using PHP and Zend Framework. The HTTP client response is below. All I need is the XML string. I came up with /(.*)<\/RequestDetails/gs which tests ok on http://gskinner.com/RegExr/ but the preg_match call is returning an empty matches array. I'm going to continue to hunt around for a pattern, but thought I would post here as well. Thanks to all who read, etc... Steve UPDATE: I can't get the code to paste correctly. • Firing a Keyboard Event at the Body - JavaScript (?)

    - by user317985
    I've done a lot of research on this but have come up empty handed. What I would like to do is invoke or create an event for the right arrow key (Key Code 39). I was planning on using an onclick event inside an tag to go to a function where this event could be 'fired'. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone needs context, I have a jQuery content slider that's functionality is very hard to alter and currently the functionality I need to emulate only occurs when a user hits the right arrow on their keyboard. What I would like to do is tie an onclick() event to a image that when clicked on fires the right keyboard event and the content will slide. Please let me know if I can provide further details or explanation. My working demo for this is: http://greenplanet3d.com

  • Java SOAP - Need help on Body and ChildElement manipulation

    - by techventure
    Hi guys I'm trying to write some code in java to learn more about coding with WSDL and SOAP. I've been able to build up a BodyElement for a given namespace. But when i come to adding the childElements I'm runnig intp problems. For example given :'<'to:checkAccount xmlns:to="http://foo" '<'to:id test' <'/to:id '<'to:password test '<'/to:password '<'to:checkAccount " I'm able to set the bodyElement(to:checkAccount), but when i try to add the childElements (to:id, to:password) , the childElement needs to have the "to" prefix otherwise it won't work. ie. sf = SOAPFactory.newInstance(); Name childName = sf.createName("id"); SOAPElement symbol = bodyElement.addChildElement(childName); this doesn't work since it doesn't have the "to" prefix to id and password. I cannot do Name childName = sf.createName("id","to",null); as it gives me an error saying wrong namespace... can someone tell me how i can add to:id and to:password to to:checkAccount ?

  • class selector refuses after append to body

    - by supersize
    I'm appending loads of divs in a wrapper: var cubes = [], allCubes = '', for(var i = 0; i < 380; i++) { var randomleft = Math.floor(Math.random()*Math.floor(Math.random()*1000)), randomtop = Math.floor(Math.random()*Math.floor(Math.random()*1000)); allCubes += '<div id="cube'+i+'" class="cube" style="position: absolute; border: 2px #000 solid; left: '+randomleft+'px; top: '+randomtop+'px; width: 9px; height: 9px; z-index: -1"></div>'; } $('#wrapper').append(allCubes); // performance for(var i = 0; i < 380; i++) { cubes.push($('#cube'+i)); } and then I would like to make them all draggable with jQueryUI and log their current position. var allc = $('.cube'); allc.draggable().on('mouseup', function(i) { allc.each(function() { var nleft = $(this).offset().left; var ntop = $(this).offset().top; console.log('cubes['+i+'].animate({ left:'+nleft+',top:'+ntop+'})'); }); }); Unfortunenately it does not work. They are neither draggable nor there comes up a log. Thanks

  • Accessing parent class attribute from sub-class body

    - by warwaruk
    I have a class Klass with a class attribute my_list. I have a subclass of it SubKlass, in which i want to have a class attribute my_list which is a modified version of the same attribute from parent class: class Klass(): my_list = [1, 2, 3] class SubKlass(Klass): my_list = Klass.my_list + [4, 5] # this works, but i must specify parent class explicitly #my_list = super().my_list + [4, 5] # SystemError: super(): __class__ cell not found #my_list = my_list + [4, 5] # NameError: name 'my_list' is not defined print(Klass.my_list) print(SubKlass.my_list) So, is there a way to access parent class attribute without specifying its name?

  • How do I make my page respect h1 css addition? [migrated]

    - by Adobe
    I add h1 { margin-top:100px; } to the end of the css, but the page doesn't change. But if I add to the html of some h1: <h1 style="margin-top:100px;"><a class="toc-backref" href="#id4">KHotKeys</a><a class="headerlink" href="#khotkeys" title="Permalink to this headline">¶</a></h1> Then it does. I have a node javascript that uses mysql npm (Felix). I have a procedure stored in my DB which I call when the user selects an option to kind of create its own instance of the program. The user chooses for how long he wants that data to be initialized for him. This is suppsoed to be between 1 and 2 years. So if he choose 1 year this query will insert around 20,000 rows into 1 table. If I run this query and a local DB this takes around 30 seconds (I suppose it is reasonable because its a big query which should be done only once in 1 or 2 years so its ok). For some reason my node script freezes as if it can't handle any more calls from other users. The even worse problem is that after like 2 minutes my client ui gets like an error from the server. At this point not all the data that was supposed to enter the DB is entered. After waiting like another minute all the data finally gets to the DB and only then it will accept new requests. This is my connection: this.connection = mysql.createConnection({ host : '********rds.amazonaws.com', user : 'admin', password : '******', database : '*****' }); and this is my query function: this.createCourts = function (req, res, next){ connection.query('CALL filldates("' + req.body['startDate'] + '","' + req.body['endDate'] + '","' + req.body['numOfCourts'] + '","' + req.body['duration'] + '","' + req.body['sundayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['mondayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['tuesdayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['wednesdayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['thursdayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['fridayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['saturdayOpen'] + '","' + req.body['sundayClose'] + '","' + req.body['mondayClose'] + '","' + req.body['tuesdayClose'] + '","' + req.body['wednesdayClose'] + '","' + req.body['thursdayClose'] + '","' + req.body['fridayClose'] + '","' + req.body['saturdayClose'] + '");', function(err){ if (err){ console.log(err); } else return res.send(200); }); }; what am i missing here? as i understand connection.query should by async so why is it actually blocking my node script? thanks.

  • What causes Box2D revolute joints to separate?

    - by nbolton
    I have created a rag doll using dynamic bodies (rectangles) and simple revolute joints (with lower and upper angles). When my rag doll hits the ground (which is a static body) the bodies seem to fidget and the joints separate. It looks like the bodies are sticking to the ground, and the momentum of the rag doll pulls the joint apart (see screenshot below). I'm not sure if it's related, but I'm using the Badlogic GDX Java wrapper for Box2D. Here's some snippets of what I think is the most relevant code: private RevoluteJoint joinBodyParts( Body a, Body b, Vector2 anchor, float lowerAngle, float upperAngle) { RevoluteJointDef jointDef = new RevoluteJointDef(); jointDef.initialize(a, b, a.getWorldPoint(anchor)); jointDef.enableLimit = true; jointDef.lowerAngle = lowerAngle; jointDef.upperAngle = upperAngle; return (RevoluteJoint)world.createJoint(jointDef); } private Body createRectangleBodyPart( float x, float y, float width, float height) { PolygonShape shape = new PolygonShape(); shape.setAsBox(width, height); BodyDef bodyDef = new BodyDef(); bodyDef.type = BodyType.DynamicBody; bodyDef.position.y = y; bodyDef.position.x = x; Body body = world.createBody(bodyDef); FixtureDef fixtureDef = new FixtureDef(); fixtureDef.shape = shape; fixtureDef.density = 10; fixtureDef.filter.groupIndex = -1; fixtureDef.filter.categoryBits = FILTER_BOY; fixtureDef.filter.maskBits = FILTER_STUFF | FILTER_WALL; body.createFixture(fixtureDef); shape.dispose(); return body; } I've skipped the method for creating the head, as it's pretty much the same as the rectangle method (just using a cricle shape). Those methods are used like so: torso = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 5, 0.25f, 1.5f); Body head = createRoundBodyPart(x, y + 7.4f, 1); Body leftLegTop = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 2.7f, 0.25f, 1); Body rightLegTop = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 2.7f, 0.25f, 1); Body leftLegBottom = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 1, 0.25f, 1); Body rightLegBottom = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 1, 0.25f, 1); Body leftArm = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 5, 0.25f, 1.2f); Body rightArm = createRectangleBodyPart(x, y + 5, 0.25f, 1.2f); joinBodyParts(torso, head, new Vector2(0, 1.6f), headAngle); leftLegTopJoint = joinBodyParts(torso, leftLegTop, new Vector2(0, -1.2f), 0.1f, legAngle); rightLegTopJoint = joinBodyParts(torso, rightLegTop, new Vector2(0, -1.2f), 0.1f, legAngle); leftLegBottomJoint = joinBodyParts(leftLegTop, leftLegBottom, new Vector2(0, -1), -legAngle * 1.5f, 0); rightLegBottomJoint = joinBodyParts(rightLegTop, rightLegBottom, new Vector2(0, -1), -legAngle * 1.5f, 0); leftArmJoint = joinBodyParts(torso, leftArm, new Vector2(0, 1), -armAngle * 0.7f, armAngle); rightArmJoint = joinBodyParts(torso, rightArm, new Vector2(0, 1), -armAngle * 0.7f, armAngle);
