• ProFTPD / PAM issues with new centos/virtualmin install

  I just installed CentOS 5.4 on a rackspace cloud server and installed virtualmin which all seemed to go fine. The only problem I have is that I can not access the virtual servers directories via FTP. I get the following from filezilla: Status: Connecting to 1.1.1.1:21... • Why Is Web Sharing Broken on My Mac?

  Background: I use my Mac for web development, running copies of web sites locally. I recently installed the Snow Leopard update, which to all intents and purposes seems to have gone fine, except... What's not working? Web-sharing; more specifically I can't turn it on via preferences. The preference pane just hangs when I try to. So Apache doesn't start on reboot. I can start Apache by hand, but I don't know enough to either setup apache to start with the computer, or to properly fix web sharing. Further details My Apache error log shows nothing on when the system boots up (as I would expect). This is the error message when I try to start web sharing from the sharing preference pane. 28/09/2009 10:58:05 System Preferences[834] setInetDServiceEnabled failed with 1 for org.apache.httpd Here's the messages given when I start apache from the command line. But I'm still not totally clear as to what caused the problem or how my solution addressed it, so I'm leaving the question open for now.

  I have a Python script running on my server as a FastCGI using Apache2 and mod_fcgid. I let it spawn up to five processes. • Google respond differently to two identical nginx setups and 200 codes; any ideas?

  I'm rather confused... I have a linode.com VPS which has been cloned recently, so the settings are the same between nginx servers. One lives on a dev subdomain, one on a www. I'm trying to run a google experiment on my live server, which claims: Web server rejects utm_expid. Your server doesn't support added query arguments in URLs. • NVIDIA error "fallen off the bus"

  i have been having a Serious Issue with my LG notebook and its Nvidia Geforce 310M GPU. It usualy (99% of the time) happens when i leave the computer idle for a while, but it has also happened sometimes while i was using the PC. Suddenly, (usualy when computer is idle) the screen goes black, and the pc freezes completely on the black screen. (not even ping responses). The only sollution is to Hard Reset the machine. I wrote my first compiler when I was 15 (Pascal to TRS Z-80!), although my most famous compiler is the HotSpot Server Compiler (the Sea of Nodes IR). I helped Azul Systems build an 864 core pure-Java mainframe that keeps GC pauses on 500Gb heaps to under 10ms, and worked on all aspects of that JVM. Before that I worked on HotSpot at Sun Microsystems, and am at least partially responsible for bringing Java into the mainstream. I am invited to speak regularly at industry and academic conferences and has published many papers about HotSpot technology. • CentOS iscsi initiator has session but there is no block device

  I have installed the scsi-target-utils package on CentOS and I used it to perform a discovery. The discovery did give me an active session. I restarted the iscsi service but I do not see any new devices (fdisk -l). I see in /var/log/messages that my connection is operational now. I'm not sure how to debug this further. Can someone direct me into fixing this? discovery: iscsiadm -m discovery -t sendtargets -p 192.168.0.155 returns: 192.168.0.155:3260,-1 iqn.2009-02.com.twinstrata:cloudarray:sn-1d07c1b62d4ec8f3 Just to verify it actually worked: iscsiadm -m session returns tcp: [1] 192.168.0.155:3260,1 iqn.2009-02.com.twinstrata:cloudarray:sn-1d07c1b62d4ec8f3 restarting as the directions say to do: service iscsi restart output written to /var/log/message Stopping iscsi: Sep 20 12:14:22 localhost kernel: connection1:0: detected conn error (1020) [ OK ] Starting iscsi: Sep 20 12:14:22 localhost kernel: scsi1 : iSCSI Initiator over TCP/IP Sep 20 12:14:22 localhost iscsid: Connection1:0 to [target: iqn.2009-02.com.twinstrata:cloudarray:sn-1d07c1b62d4ec8f3, portal: 192.168.0.155,3260] through [iface: default] is shutdown. Next I compared the output from "fdisk -l|egrep dev" both with the iscsi session and without. There is no difference. I suppose I could just look in /etc/mtab. Any ideas on how I can get an iscsi device?

The other problem is, I have over a thousand of data frame like this needs to be concentrated. I'm still learning how to loop these repetitive steps but is progressing quite slowly. If the original data frames were named uniquely, does that mean I have no choice but to work on each of them individually? Thank you in advance.

• SED - Regular Expression over multiple lines

  Hi there, I'm stuck with this for several hours now and cycled through a wealth of different tools to get the job done. Without success. It would be fantastic, if someone could help me out with this. Here is the problem: I have a very large CSV file (400mb+) that is not formatted correctly. Right now it looks something like this: Alan Smithee ist ein Anagramm von „The [...] „Alan Smythee“, und „Adam Smithee“." ,Alan Smithee Die Aussagenlogik ist der Bereich der Logik, der sich mit [...] ihrer Teilaussagen bestimmen. ,Aussagenlogik As you can probably see the words ",Alan Smithee" and ",Aussagenlogik" should actually be on the same line as the foregoing sentence. Then it would look something like this: Alan Smithee ist ein Anagramm von „The Smitheeeee [...] „Alan Smythee“, und „Adam Smithee“.,Alan Smithee Die Aussagenlogik ist der Bereich der Logik, der sich mit [...] ihrer Teilaussagen bestimmen.,Aussagenlogik Please note that the end of the sentence can contain quotes or not. In the end they should be replaced too. Here is what I came up with so far: sed -n '1h;1!H;${;g;s/\."?.*,//g;p;}' out.csv > out1.csv This should actually get the job done of matching the expression over multiple lines. Unfortunately it doesn't :) The expression is looking for the dot at the end of the sentence and the optional quotes plus a newline character that I'm trying to match with .*. Help much appreciated. And it doesn't really matter what tool gets the job done (awk, perl, sed, tr, etc.). Thanks, Chris

• Why can't mythtv backend see my HDHomeRun tuner?

  Ran a fresh install of Mythbuntu 12.04.1 32 bit. Went through the backend setup and was able to see my HDHomeRun Prime (HDHR3) device, scan, and detect channels. Cannot get to live TV on frontend. Backend log seems to indicate it's not detecting my tuner, even though I configured it in the setup. • Laptop Akku defekt? [closed]

  Ich habe ein großes Problem und zwar startet mein Laptop akku: akku Dell Inspiron 9400 Gut, dann machte ich ihn aber sofort "aus", ich klappte ihn eben zu, was heißt Energie sparen, er ist nicht heruntergefahren! Eine halbe Stunde später wollte mein Vater noch ran, er war dann auch ca. 5min und dann fuhr der Laptop wie gewöhnlich, wwenn er kein Akku mehr hat, heerunter. Dann wollten wir den Laptop wieder aufladen, doch es brannte nicht einmal die rote LED, was soviel heißt wie der Akku wird geladen. Und der Laptop (übrigens erst 7 Monate alt) kann man nicht startet! Nun meine Frage, hat das was mit dem Aufladekabel zu tun( dort brennt immer noch die grüne Lampe, was soviel heißt, wie dass aufjedenfall von der Seckdose Strom kommt) oder ist etwas am Laptop, bzw. ist er kaputt?
