  • jQuery scrolling images for e-commerce site, what to do about users who disable JS

    As the title suggests, I am developing an e-commerce site and I intend of having two jQuery plug ins on the default page, one for scrolling images and the other for the navigation menu. Should I be concerned about making the site work if the users disables JS? Cause if they have it disabled my site would be almost impossible to use with the scrolling images blocking the main content. Plus the CMS I am using, Big Commerce, uses a bit of JS for the products pages, which would also look ridiculous with JS disabled. Anyone have experience with this?

  • permanently disable bluetooth

    I simply don't use bluetooth. Since it can be a security risk and also drains the battery I would like to keep it deactivated. I quickly found the option to turn it off in the settings menu, but the problem is: it doesn't stay dead! Everytime I pull my Nexus 4 out of standby mode bluetooth reappears in the top bar as if I never deactivated it. How can I deactivate it so it stays deactivated or better yet how can I remove it from my phone entirely? I tried sudo apt-get remove bluez bluetooth, but I am not allowed to edit this package.

    Hey guys, i have a problem, how do I disable all toast messages being process currently?   • AWStats consumes too much resource, how to disable temporarily

    For some days AWStats takes %10-%20 of my CPU, takes 400-550 MB RAM and works for hours. Maybe my site's traffic became larger so process time takes more time than before or some bugs in program makes this. Anyway I want to disable AWStats temporarily. Maybe I would want to activate it in future. I found that answer. But it gives commands to remove AWStats. I only want to disable it temporarily. My system is Centos 6.3, Plesk 11.5.30 Update #19. I tried to disable cron jobs. I run this # killall awstats.pl I opened # vi /etc/cron.daily/awstats file and I changed it to this: #!/bin/sh #/usr/share/awstats/awstats_updateall.pl now -awstatsprog=/var/www/cgi-bin/awstats/awstats.pl -configdir=/etc/awstats >/dev/null 2>&1 exit 0 After some time I still see that awstats is running. What should I do more to not to awstats run again ? But without removing my files. After changing " /etc/cron.daily/awstats" file awstats doesn't start in daytime. But every night in 03:15 awstats starts again. Because of Plesk auto updates are working at that time, I changed from Plesk. Don't auto update automatically. But it seems like last night at 03:15 awstats started again. Is there any way to stop awstats temporarily except this solution ? Because this solution deletes awstats configs permanently and I don't know how to revert it back in future ?   • How do I disable the firewall on blackberry?

    I own a Blackberry 9630 tour.(Sprint). The firewall is enabled with a lock sign and grayed out. I'm not able to disable it. Because of this many of my blackberry apps don't work as it gives a message "The application has tried to open a connection that's not allowed by your IT policy". I tried all options and there's nothing to disable. This is a personal blackberry and I don't have an IT policy on it. I did all methods like wiping, formatting/resetting to factory settings acc. to blackberry site by running their reset app from PC etc etc. but nothing works I tried CrackUtil for blackberry and that worked and wiped the blackberry. I restored my bb and started using it just to notice that the firewall is enabled back after a desktop manager connection to PC. I even made sure the policy.bin file on PC is a regular one with no IT policy. How do I get this disabled? I had the same problem on my old blackberry 8330 and crackutil disabled the firewall. but after a few days after a desktop manager update of blackberry OS and other small stuff the firewall got enabled again. Please give me a solutions to disable the firewall on blackberry

  • Disable or remove filter driver for single HID device

    Running Windows XP in a corporate setting here. I have an issue where a filter driver is interfering with the functionality of different USB HIDs. For example graphics tablets do not respond while the filter driver is in place. I've also had the issue with foot pedals used with transcription software. My question is really two fold: A) what makes Windows use a filter driver on one HID but not another? B) when a filter driver is causing conflicts how can I disable it on the affected devices? Background I've previously narrowed down the issue to the filter driver by uninstalling the software (Funk Proxy Host) responsible for the filter driver. The software is a type of RDP we use here at work. (I might have even booted into safe mode and renamed the file, I forget). I believe the filter driver is present to disable or modify the use of the local keyboard and mouse while admin staff are assisting users. Either way I don't have the authority to just go uninstalling this software. As far as I can tell the software versions are the same, however I'm not sure if the device driver definitions are all the same as I don't know where these things would be located. To check for the presence of the filter driver I locate the hardware device in Device Manager, click Properties Driver tab Driver Details.... It shows up as ph32ihid.sys. Even though all machines are meant to have the same SOE and do have Funk Proxy Host installed I don't always have issues with the same HIDs. A few machines here the foot pedals without any issues. I've not had any machines work with the graphics tablet without uninstalling Funk software. Driver details I've just read up a bit more about filter drivers and found the drivers description in the registry under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ProxyHostHIDFilter" There it's called "Kernel-mode HID filter driver for the Proxy Host". Presumably I could also disable it here but that would be system wide which is probably not desirable?

    I'm trying to generate some C# code using xslt - its working great until I get to generics and need to output some text like this: MyClass<Type> In this case I've found that the only way to emit this is to do the following: MyClass<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text>Type<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&gt;</xsl:text> Where: Often it all needs to go on one line, otherwise you end up with line breaks in the generated code In the above example I technically could have used only 1 <xsl:text />, however usually the type Type is given by some other template, e.g: <xsl:value-of select="@type" /> I don't mind having to write &lt; a lot, but I would like to avoid writing <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text> for just a single character! Is there any way of doing disable-output-escaping="yes" for the entire document?
