  • Using CompareTo() on different .NET types (e.g. int vs. double)

    Hi, I've got a static method that accepts two object type variables and runs the CompareTo() method: public static int Compare(Object objA, Object objB) { return (((IComparable)objA).CompareTo(objB)); } Problem is that CompareTo() throws an exception when trying to compare between different types (e.g. int and double). Does any one know of a better way in C#, to compare between two different types? Or a workaround to this problem? Thanks

  • Desktop switcher appears to be broken for quick double-switches

    I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this. I have three virtual desktops aligned in a horizontal row. In the middle desktop I have only a single application window. I have keyboard shortcuts mapping to navigate between the desktops. Obviously, I never use the up/down arrows because I only have one row of workspaces. Here's the problem, which only started to happen after I installed 12.04.1: When I rapidly hit to go from workspace 1 to workspace 3, the window on workspace 2 gets moved to workspace 1. I have checked using both Unity and Gnome3, and the behavior is the same under both. If I change back to the default workspace setup (a 2x2 grid of desktops) things seem to settle down (i.e., no wandering windows). Not every type of application window behaves the same way. I couldn't get a Chrome browser to jump from 2 to 1, but both Terminal and Terminator exhibit the behavior. Any thoughts? Better workarounds? Thanks in advance.

    To open the LOV popup of an af:inputListOfValues component in ADF Faces, you either click the magnifier icon to the right of the input field or tab onto the icon and press the Enter key. If you want to open the same dialog in response to a user double click into the LOV input field, JavaScript is a friend. For this solution, I assume you created an editable table or input form that is based on a View Object that contains at least one attribute that has a model driven list of values defined. The Default List Type is should be set to Input Text with List of Values so that when the form or table gets created, the attribute is rendered by the af:inputListOfValues component. To implement the use case, drag a Client Listener component from the Operations accordion in the Component Palette and drop it onto the af:inputListOfValues component in the page. In the opened Insert Client Listener dialog, define the Method as handleLovOnDblclickand choose dblClick in the select list for the Type attribute.   • GAC locking problem when running deployment

    We have a NANT script that uses msbuild to compile our visual studio solutions and deploys the .dlls into the GAC. This works well on our integration/test servers as part of continuous integration, cruise control uses the NANT scripts and every time the dlls are put into the GAC without problem. On our local development machines, where we use subversion/vs.net etc. for development, frequently certain dlls do not make it to the GAC when we run the build. We think we have narrowed this down to visual studio and/or a plug in locking the GAC or the dlls for some reason. Strangely if we run the build a second time all the dlls make it to the GAC. We have added various iisreset's to the NANT script in the hope of releasing the lock but to no avail. Can anyone suggest a good approach to attack this problem? All the best

  • SLES 11 - ocfs2 - Locking does not appear to work

    Hi I have two SLES 11 servers that are SAN attached to a Clarion CX-340. The SAN partition has been formatted with ocfs2 and I have both machines setup in a cluster and the cluster is running (all appears to be normal). I have a small java application as a locking test and when I run the application on both machines at the same time, I should get the lock on one server and the other should refuse the lock since the first already holds a lock on that file but in this case both servers get a lock on the same file. Basically my cluster.conf looks like this: node: ip_port = 7777 ip_address = 192.168.10.121 number = 1 name = osrsles10node1 cluster = osrsles10 node: ip_port = 7777 ip_address = 192.168.10.122 number = 2 name = osrsles10node2 cluster = osrsles10 cluster: node_count = 2 name = osrsles10 Please ask for any other info - I really need these locks to be exclusive to each server.     So, both windows and linux have a pretty useful feature that allows you to leave everything running on the PC while also keeping invaders away by locking the screen. My question is: Say I leave my laptop with the screen locked while I go get a donnut, and then it gets stolen. Assuming the thief has access to whatever software he needs, how easy/hard would it be for him to access my (currently logged-in) account? Now let me be clear. I'm not asking if he can access the data on the harddrive. I know he can, and that issue would go under data encryption, which is not my question here. I'm focusing on how hard would it be to get around the "Insert Password" screen, and have full access to my account. I'm looking for answers regarding both OS's; but, if needed, assume Ubuntu.   • Windows 7 Locking up Randomly

    I've got a Windows 7 machine that is locking up randomly. It can be in the first thirty seconds, or it can be hours later. There is nothing specific I can find that is running when it happens. When it locks, the screen doesn't change, but nothing moves. The waiting icon stops, the mouse stops, keyboard doesn't work, etc. I've even tried the crash on ctrl-scrl registry hack, and it won't even dump the kernel. I've run hardware diagnostics on the RAM and it doesn't find any problems. I would think it is a hardware issue, but on this exact same machine, I can run 64 Bit Ubuntu and it has zero problems. I've even tried reinstalling Windows7 from scratch, and it still happens. Anyone have any ideas? Any good diagnostic tools to recommend? Thanks! Michael

  • Locking down remote desktop using AD GPO

    I am currently locking down a companies remote desktop access via a VPN. What I need to do is disable remote printing, file transfer and clipboard via active directory for the workstations that will be accessed. I am having trouble figuring out which GPO's are used to restrict this. My basic approach is to restrict VPN users to port 3389 so the will be able to access their work computers remotely but nothing else (I will look into layer 7 scanning later). With this I want to ensure they are unable to transfer and data via files, printing or the clipboard. The environment is Windows Server 2003

What are the side effects of performing a MySQLDump without locking all the tables; Is the DB snapshot I get this way, consistent? Do I have any other alternative for getting a backup of a MySQL DB with many tables?

  • Precision of cos(atan2(y,x)) versus using complex <double>, C++

    Hi all, I'm writing some coordinate transformations (more specifically the Joukoswky Transform, Wikipedia Joukowsky Transform), and I'm interested in performance, but of course precision. I'm trying to do the coordinate transformations in two ways: 1) Calculating the real and complex parts in separate, using double precision, as below: double r2 = chi.x*chi.x + chi.y*chi.y; //double sq = pow(r2,-0.5*n) + pow(r2,0.5*n); //slow!!! double sq = sqrt(r2); //way faster! double co = cos(atan2(chi.y,chi.x)); double si = sin(atan2(chi.y,chi.x)); Z.x = 0.5*(co*sq + co/sq); Z.y = 0.5*si*sq; where chi and Z are simple structures with double x and y as members. 2) Using complex : Z = 0.5 * (chi + (1.0 / chi)); Where Z and chi are complex . There interesting part is that indeed the case 1) is faster (about 20%), but the precision is bad, giving error in the third decimal number after the comma after the inverse transform, while the complex gives back the exact number. So, the problem is on the cos(atan2), sin(atan2)? But if it is, how the complex handles that? Thanks!

    When I'm away from my computer (Windows XP) for more than ~30 minutes, I get locked out, and have to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to login. I've checked the screensaver settings, and it's not set to lock the screen. Does anyone know what else could be causing this? Thanks

  • WinForms (C#) Databinding Object to Checkbox.Checked Property

    Hello, I'm writing a WinForms app, and am trying to bind a boolean property on a .NET object to a Checkbox's "checked" property. I am successfully creating the binding, but when I change the source property's value from false to true (I have a button that toggles it), the checkbox's "checked" property does not reflect that change. if (chkPreRun.DataBindings["Checked"] == null) { Debug.WriteLine("Adding chkPreRun databinding"); Binding _binding = chkPreRun.DataBindings.Add("Checked", NwmConfig, "PreRun") // Added this just to ensure that these were being set properly _binding.DataSourceUpdateMode = DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; _binding.ControlUpdateMode = ControlUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; } I am able to successfully bind the text property to the value of a TextBox, for example.   • Change Check Out Folder for checked out files in SourceSafe

    I had to rebuild my machine and went from XP to Windows 7. I've now got a bit of an issue: I had files checked out in SourceSafe previously, which I still have copies of in the local folder on my new install. However, SourceSafe still has them checked out to the old XP folder (c:\documents and settings etc) whereas the files now reside in c:\Users. Pending Checkins in Visual Studio now thinks I have nothing checked out, and SourceSafe declares that the files are checked out to me under the c:\documents and settings\ path. Is there any way to tell SourceSafe to simply "look over there" for the files instead? It seems to work with individually undoing and redoing checkout on the files, but that's a lengthy process and one I'd like to avoid if possible. If I simply checkout the files individually then it lists them as checked out to me twice, one for each of the locations. Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

This is the code I'm using: if ($('#chkjq_1').attr('checked') == true) It works fine on Firefox or Chrome, but on Internet Explorer 7, the condition is always false because the browser sets the property this way: <input id="chkjq_1" type="checkbox" CHECKED/> IE7 And the right way is the following: (Firefox, Chrome): <input id="chkjq_1" type="checkbox" checked="checked"/> FF, Chrome, etc What should I do to avoid this issue on Internet Explorer 7; is there a generic way in jquery to solve this?   • jQuery if checkbox is checked to toggle classes

    I am needed to change my jQuery code up. Instead of the label toggling the class and showing the icon I need it to where if the checkbox is checked to show to toggle those classes. I have tried prop and is but I couldn't get them to work properly. The reason for the change is I want to preload data into the form and if it's going to be checked those toggles need to reflect that change. http://jsfiddle.net/70fbLooL/2/ EDIT Seems to be confusion as to exactly what I am trying to do. The fiddle I provided works perfectly fine. The problem is if I want to call the form from server-side and pre-populate the form the checkbox toggles will not show that they are checked because it's based on the clicked function. I need it to be based on if the checkbox equal true or checked. That way if the value equals true from the server-side call it will toggle those classes and look like it's checked.

  • Compaq R4000 laptop randomly locking up

    I have a Compaq R4000 laptop with 2GB of RAM, running Ubuntu Linux 9.10. It is randomly locking up on me, approximately once every two days. I have a second partition with Windows XP Home installed, and I have had the system lock up in XP as well, meaning I believe this is a hardware issue. I have run two passes of Memtest86+ with no errors. The system has a fan that has died, so I initially suspected overheating. However the system just locked up on me while I was in the middle of typing a script to warn me / shut down if the temperature was too high. When the lockup happened the temperature was 88°F, so I am now starting to believe that may not be the issue. When the system locks up, I cannot SSH in nor ping it. Nothing shows in syslog when I reboot. I have configured it to send syslog messages to a local server as well and no messages appear on that server when the lockup happens. I am open to any and all advice!

  • Make a snapshot of a live mySQL database with myISAM & innoDB tables without locking

    We have a live database in production where we are running out of space on the server. So I would like to transfer to a new server without any downtime (or as little downtime as possible). In general, I would also like to have a hot failover copy of the database available. I would like to use replication to get all of the data copied to the new machine, and then at some point flip a switch and have that new machine become the master (normal failover scenario). My problem is that I am not sure how to initialize replication without locking the db to make the initial snapshot I will use? Is there any way to do this? I know I could do it using single-transaction if I was using innoDB, but very unfortunately we have some myISAM tables in there (in fact the largest 150GB table is myISAM and I want to switch it to InnoDB but I can't do it until I have more space & a hot copy to switch to). Any ideas? Is there some way to make such a snapshot? Or is there alternatively a way to get replication to "catch up" without an snapshot for initialization?

  • SQL Server Read Locking behavior

    When SQL Server Books online says that "Shared (S) locks on a resource are released as soon as the read operation completes, unless the transaction isolation level is set to repeatable read or higher, or a locking hint is used to retain the shared (S) locks for the duration of the transaction." Assuming we're talking about a row-level lock, with no explicit transaction, at default isolation level (Read Committed), what does "read operation" refer to? The reading of a single row of data? The reading of a single 8k IO Page ? or until the the complete Select statement in which the lock was created has finished executing, no matter how many other rows are involved? NOTE: The reason I need to know this is we have a several second read-only select statement generated by a data layer web service, which creates page-level shared read locks, generating a deadlock due to conflicting with row-level exclusive update locks from a replication prcoess that keeps the server updated. The select statement is fairly large, with many sub-selects, and one DBA is proposing that we rewrite it to break it up into multiple smaller statements (shorter running pieces), "to cut down on how long the locks are held". As this assumes that the shared read locks are held till the complete select statement has finished, if that is wrong (if locks are released when the row, or the page is read) then that approach would have no effect whatsoever....
