  • Exit Try/Catch to prevent code after from being run

    - by coffeeaddict
    I've got for example a try/catch in my method: } catch (OurCustomExceptionObject1 ex) { txtErrorMessage.InnerHtml = "test 1"; } catch(OurCustomExceptionObject2 ex) { txtErrorMessage.InnerHtml = "test 2"; } catch (OurCustomExceptionObject3 ex) { txtErrorMessage.InnerHtml = "test 3"; } ... rest of code here is being executed after the try/catch I do not want the rest of code to run if any of the exceptions are caught. I'm handling the exceptions. I heard do not use Exit Try for some reason. Is that true, it's bad to do this? Is this the right way to halt execution of code thereafter the catch statement?

  • Confused by "let" in Clojure

    - by Tom Dalling
    I just started playing with Clojure, and I wrote a small script to help me understand some of the functions. It begins like this: (def *exprs-to-test* [ "(filter #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(remove #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(distinct '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" ]) Then it goes through *exprs-to-test*, evaluates them all, and prints the output like this: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (do (println "===" (first (read-string exstr)) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval (read-string exstr))) ) ) The above code is all working fine. However, (read-string exstr) is repeated so I tried to use let to eliminate the repetition like so: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (let [ex (read-string exstr)] ( (do (println "===" (first ex) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval ex)) ) )) ) But this works once for the first item in *exprs-to-test*, then crashes with a NullPointerException. Why is the addition of let causing the crash?

  • How to close reconnect SocketIOClient on android?

    - by erginduran
    My problem is reconnect.I connect SocketIOClient.connect(..) in background service.I close service when internet connection is off.and I re-start service again connection on. How to close this reconnection?I don't want to reconnect SocketIOClient. Its my code: ConnectCallback mConnectCallback = new ConnectCallback() { @Override public void onConnectCompleted(Exception ex, SocketIOClient client) { if (ex != null) { ex.printStackTrace(); return; } client.setReconnectCallback(new ReconnectCallback() { @Override public void onReconnect() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } }); client.setDisconnectCallback(new DisconnectCallback() { @Override public void onDisconnect(Exception arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } }); client.setErrorCallback(new ErrorCallback() { @Override public void onError(String arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } }); client.on("event", new EventCallback() { @Override public void onEvent(JSONArray jsonArray, Acknowledge acknowledge) { ///bla bla } }); ScreenChat.mClient = client; } };

  • SQL Query: Using IF statement in defining new field

    - by Tofig Hasanov
    I have a table with many fields and additionally several boolean fields (ex: BField1, BField2, BField3 etc.). I need to make a Select Query, which will select all fields except for boolean ones, and a new virtual field (ex: FirstTrueBool) whose value will equal to the name of the first TRUE Boolean Field. For ex: Say I have BField1 = False, BField2 = True, BField3 = true, BField4=false, in that case SQL Query should set [FirstTrueBool] to "BField2". Is that possible? Thank you in advance. P.S. I use Microsoft Access (MDB) Database and Jet Engine.

  • Regular Expression to get the size value of a CSS property?

    - by thiesdiggity
    I wrote a regular expression to get the size from a CSS property: /(([+-]?\d*\.?\d+(\s)*(px|em|ex|pt|in|pc|mm|cm)?)|thin|medium|thick)(\s|;|$)/i but for some reason its not working as intended. For example, when I run the following: preg_match_all('/(([+-]?\d*\.?\d+(\s)*(px|em|ex|pt|in|pc|mm|cm)?)|thin|medium|thick)(\s|;|$)/i', "border-bottom:1px solid #99999;", $matches); It outputs: 1px 99999; But I only want the 1px value returned. I understand why its returning the above but can't seem to figure out how to only return the size and not the color value. I tried using the following negative lookbehind but it's not working either: /(((?<!#\d{3}|#\d{6})[+-]?\d*\.?\d+(\s)*(px|em|ex|pt|in|pc|mm|cm)?)|thin|medium|thick)(\s|;|$)/i I want to use preg_match_all for those CSS properties that can have multiple size values (i.e. margin). Anyone have any ideas how to get this regex to return only the size values? Thanks for your help!

  • Easiest way to submit data via PHP?

    - by Abijah
    I'm new to PHP, and have spent 10 hours trying to figure this problem out. The goal is to take all data entered into this order form, and send it to my email via PHP. I have 2 questions: 1. I can get PHP to send data from a single menu item (example: Mexican Tortas), but how do I get PHP to send data from multiple items (example: Mexican Tortas, Fish Sandwich and Hamburger)? 2. How do I tell PHP to not send data from menu items that don't have the "How Many?" or "Customize It?" text fields filled out? If you could provide a super simple example (or a link to a learning resource) I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Abijah PHP <?php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $to = "[email protected]"; $subject = "New Order"; $name_field = $_POST['name']; $phone_field = $_POST['phone']; $item = $_POST['item']; $quantity = $_POST['quantity']; $customize = $_POST['customize']; } $body = "Name: $name_field\nPhone: $phone_field\n\nItem: $item\nQuantity: $quantity\nCustomize: $customize"; echo "Data has been submitted to $to!"; mail($to, $subject, $body); ?> HTML <form action="neworder.php" method="POST"> <div class ="item"> <img style="float:left; margin-right:15px; border:1px Solid #000; width:200px; height:155px;" src="images/mexicantortas.jpg"> <h1>Mexican Torta - $8.50</h1> <input name="item" type="hidden" value="Mexican Torta"/> <h2>How Many? <font color="#999999">Ex: 1, 2, 3...?</font></h2> <input name="quantity" type="text"/> <h3>Customize It? <font color="#999999">Ex: No Lettuce, Extra Cheese...</font></h3> <textarea name="customize"/></textarea> </div><!-- ITEM_LEFT --> <div class ="item"> <img style="float:left; margin-right:15px; border:1px Solid #000; width:200px; height:155px;" src="images/fishsandwich.jpg"> <h1>Fish Sandwich - $8.50</h1> <input name="item" type="hidden" value="Fish Sandwich"/> <h2>How Many? <font color="#999999">Ex: 1, 2, 3...?</font></h2> <input name="quantity" type="text"/> <h3>Customize It? <font color="#999999">Ex: No Lettuce, Extra Cheese...</font></h3> <textarea name="customize"/></textarea> </div><!-- ITEM_LEFT --> <div class ="item"> <img style="float:left; margin-right:15px; border:1px Solid #000; width:200px; height:155px;" src="images/hamburgers.jpg"> <h1>Hamburger w/ Fries - $7.00</h1> <input name="item" type="hidden" value="Fish Sandwich"/> <h2>How Many? <font color="#999999">Ex: 1, 2, 3...?</font></h2> <input name="quantity" type="text"/> <h3>Customize It? <font color="#999999">Ex: No Lettuce, Extra Cheese...</font></h3> <textarea name="customize"/></textarea> </div><!-- ITEM_LEFT --> <div class="horizontal_form"> <div class="form"> <h2>Place Your Order Now: <font size="3"><font color="#037B41">Fill in the form below, and we'll call you when your food is ready to be picked up...</font></font></h2> <p class="name"> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" style="text-align:center;" onClick="this.value='';" value="Enter your name"/> </p> <p class="phone"> <input type="text" name="phone" id="phone" style="text-align:center;" onClick="this.value='';" value="Enter your phone #"/> </p> <p class="submit"> <input type="submit" value="Place Order" name="submit"/> </p> </div><!-- FORM --> </div><!-- HORIZONTAL_FORM --> </form>

  • Catch a generic exception in Java?

    - by Alex Baranosky
    We use JUnit 3 at work and there is no ExpectedException annotation. I wanted to add a utility to our code to wrap this: try { someCode(); fail("some error message"); } catch (SomeSpecificExceptionType ex) { } So I tried this: public static class ExpectedExceptionUtility { public static <T extends Exception> void checkForExpectedException(String message, ExpectedExceptionBlock<T> block) { try { block.exceptionThrowingCode(); fail(message); } catch (T ex) { } } } However, Java cannot use generic exception types in a catch block, I think. How can I do something like this, working around the Java limitation? Is there a way to check that the ex variable is of type T?

  • Whether to check for null

    - by coffeeaddict
    I know that you should always check incoming params to a method for null. But what if I have this scenario with a try/catch referring to a local variable. Do I really need to check for null below? Because it's gonna catch it anyway if it's null and the next line of code tries to use the refundResponse variable: public string DoRefund(...) { try { ...... string refundTransactionID = string.Empty; ...... RefundTransactionResponseType refundResponse = transaction.DoRefund(...); if (refundResponse != null) refundTransactionID = refundResponse.RefundTransactionID; ..... } catch (Exception ex) { LogError(ex); return ex.ToString(); } }

  • trouble running smooth animation in thread only when using key listener

    - by heysuse renard
    first time using a forum for coding help so sorry if i post this all wrong. i have more than a few classes i don't think screenManger or core holds the problem but i included them just incase. i got most of this code working through a set of tutorials. but a certain point started trying to do more on my own. i want to play the animation only when i'm moving my sprite. in my KeyTest class i am using threads to run the animation it used to work (poorly) but now not at all pluss it really gunks up my computer. i think it's because of the thread. im new to threads so i'm not to sure if i should even be using one in this situation or if its dangerous for my computer. the animation worked smoothly when i had the sprite bouce around the screen forever. the animation loop played with out stopping. i think the main problem is between the animationThread, Sprite, and keyTest classes, but itcould be more indepth. if someone could point me in the right direction for making the animation run smoothly when i push down a key and stop runing when i let off it would be greatly apriciated. i already looked at this Java a moving animation (sprite) obviously we were doing the same tutorial. but i feel my problem is slightly different. p.s. sorry for the typos. import java.awt.*; • SmtpClient and Locked File Attachments

    - by Rick Strahl
    Got a note a couple of days ago from a client using one of my generic routines that wraps SmtpClient. Apparently whenever a file has been attached to a message and emailed with SmtpClient the file remains locked after the message has been sent. Oddly this particular issue hasn’t cropped up before for me although these routines are in use in a number of applications I’ve built. The wrapper I use was built mainly to backfit an old pre-.NET 2.0 email client I built using Sockets to avoid the CDO nightmares of the .NET 1.x mail client. The current class retained the same class interface but now internally uses SmtpClient which holds a flat property interface that makes it less verbose to send off email messages. File attachments in this interface are handled by providing a comma delimited list for files in an Attachments string property which is then collected along with the other flat property settings and eventually passed on to SmtpClient in the form of a MailMessage structure. The jist of the code is something like this: /// <summary> /// Fully self contained mail sending method. Sends an email message by connecting /// and disconnecting from the email server. /// </summary> /// <returns>true or false</returns> public bool SendMail() { if (!this.Connect()) return false; try { // Create and configure the message MailMessage msg = this.GetMessage(); smtp.Send(msg); this.OnSendComplete(this); } catch (Exception ex) { string msg = ex.Message; if (ex.InnerException != null) msg = ex.InnerException.Message; this.SetError(msg); this.OnSendError(this); return false; } finally { // close connection and clear out headers // SmtpClient instance nulled out this.Close(); } return true; } /// <summary> /// Configures the message interface /// </summary> /// <param name="msg"></param> protected virtual MailMessage GetMessage() { MailMessage msg = new MailMessage(); msg.Body = this.Message; msg.Subject = this.Subject; msg.From = new MailAddress(this.SenderEmail, this.SenderName); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(this.ReplyTo)) msg.ReplyTo = new MailAddress(this.ReplyTo); // Send all the different recipients this.AssignMailAddresses(msg.To, this.Recipient); this.AssignMailAddresses(msg.CC, this.CC); this.AssignMailAddresses(msg.Bcc, this.BCC); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(this.Attachments)) { string[] files = this.Attachments.Split(new char[2] { ',', ';' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); foreach (string file in files) { msg.Attachments.Add(new Attachment(file)); } } if (this.ContentType.StartsWith("text/html")) msg.IsBodyHtml = true; else msg.IsBodyHtml = false; msg.BodyEncoding = this.Encoding; … additional code omitted return msg; } Basically this code collects all the property settings of the wrapper object and applies them to the SmtpClient and in GetMessage() to an individual MailMessage properties. Specifically notice that attachment filenames are converted from a comma-delimited string to filenames from which new attachments are created. The code as it’s written however, will cause the problem with file attachments not being released properly. Internally .NET opens up stream handles and reads the files from disk to dump them into the email send stream. The attachments are always sent correctly but the local files are not immediately closed. As you probably guessed the issue is simply that some resources are not automatcially disposed when sending is complete and sure enough the following code change fixes the problem: // Create and configure the message using (MailMessage msg = this.GetMessage()) { smtp.Send(msg); if (this.SendComplete != null) this.OnSendComplete(this); // or use an explicit msg.Dispose() here } The Message object requires an explicit call to Dispose() (or a using() block as I have here) to force the attachment files to get closed. I think this is rather odd behavior for this scenario however. The code I use passes in filenames and my expectation of an API that accepts file names is that it uses the files by opening and streaming them and then closing them when done. Why keep the streams open and require an explicit .Dispose() by the calling code which is bound to lead to unexpected behavior just as my customer ran into? Any API level code should clean up as much as possible and this is clearly not happening here resulting in unexpected behavior. Apparently lots of other folks have run into this before as I found based on a few Twitter comments on this topic. Odd to me too is that SmtpClient() doesn’t implement IDisposable – it’s only the MailMessage (and Attachments) that implement it and require it to clean up for left over resources like open file handles. This means that you couldn’t even use a using() statement around the SmtpClient code to resolve this – instead you’d have to wrap it around the message object which again is rather unexpected. Well, chalk that one up to another small unexpected behavior that wasted a half an hour of my time – hopefully this post will help someone avoid this same half an hour of hunting and searching. • Searching for the last logon of users in Active Directory

    - by Robert May
    I needed to clean out a bunch of old accounts at Veracity Solutions, and wanted to delete those that hadn’t used their account in more than a year. I found that AD has a property on objects called the lastLogonTimestamp.  However, this value isn’t exposed to you in any useful fashion.  Sure, you can pull up ADSI Edit and and eventually get to it there, but it’s painful. I spent some time searching, and discovered that there’s not much out there to help, so I thought a blog post showing exactly how to get at this information would be in order. Basically, what you end up doing is using System.DirectoryServices to search for accounts and then filtering those for users, doing some conversion and such to make it happen.  Basically, the end result of this is that you get a list of users with their logon information and you can then do with that what you will.  I turned my list into an observable collection and bound it into a XAML form. One important note, you need to add a reference to ActiveDs Type Library in the COM section of the world in references to get to LargeInteger. Here’s the class: namespace Veracity.Utilities { using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.DirectoryServices; using ActiveDs; using log4net; /// <summary> /// Finds users inside of the active directory system. /// </summary> public class UserFinder { /// <summary> /// Creates the default logger /// </summary> private static readonly ILog log = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(UserFinder)); /// <summary> /// Finds last logon information /// </summary> /// <param name="domain">The domain to search.</param> /// <param name="userName">The username for the query.</param> /// <param name="password">The password for the query.</param> /// <returns>A list of users with their last logon information.</returns> public IList<UserLoginInformation> GetLastLogonInformation(string domain, string userName, string password) { IList<UserLoginInformation> result = new List<UserLoginInformation>(); DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry(domain, userName, password, AuthenticationTypes.Secure); DirectorySearcher directorySearcher = new DirectorySearcher(entry); directorySearcher.PropertyNamesOnly = true; directorySearcher.PropertiesToLoad.Add("name"); directorySearcher.PropertiesToLoad.Add("lastLogonTimeStamp"); SearchResultCollection searchResults; try { searchResults = directorySearcher.FindAll(); } catch (System.Exception ex) { log.Error("Failed to do a find all.", ex); throw; } try { foreach (SearchResult searchResult in searchResults) { DirectoryEntry resultEntry = searchResult.GetDirectoryEntry(); if (resultEntry.SchemaClassName == "user") { UserLoginInformation logon = new UserLoginInformation(); logon.Name = resultEntry.Name; PropertyValueCollection timeStampObject = resultEntry.Properties["lastLogonTimeStamp"]; if (timeStampObject.Count > 0) { IADsLargeInteger logonTimeStamp = (IADsLargeInteger)timeStampObject[0]; long lastLogon = (long)((uint)logonTimeStamp.LowPart + (((long)logonTimeStamp.HighPart) << 32)); logon.LastLogonTime = DateTime.FromFileTime(lastLogon); } result.Add(logon); } } } catch (System.Exception ex) { log.Error("Failed to iterate search results.", ex); throw; } return result; } } } Some important things to note: Username and Password can be set to null and if your computer us part of the domain, this may still work. Domain should be set to something like LDAP://servername/CN=Users,CN=Domain,CN=com You’re actually getting a com object back, so that’s why the LongInteger conversions are happening.  The class for UserLoginInformation looks like this:   namespace Veracity.Utilities { using System; /// <summary> /// Represents user login information. /// </summary> public class UserLoginInformation { /// <summary> /// Gets or sets Name /// </summary> public string Name { get; set; } /// <summary> /// Gets or sets LastLogonTime /// </summary> public DateTime LastLogonTime { get; set; } /// <summary> /// Gets the age of the account. /// </summary> public TimeSpan AccountAge { get { TimeSpan result = TimeSpan.Zero; if (this.LastLogonTime != DateTime.MinValue) { result = DateTime.Now.Subtract(this.LastLogonTime); } return result; } } } } I hope this is useful and instructive. • BAM Data Control in multiple ADF Faces Components

    - by [email protected]
    As we know Oracle BAM data control instance sharing is not supported.When two or more ADF Faces components must display the same data, and are bound to the same Oracle BAM data control definition, we have to make sure that we wrap each ADF Faces component in an ADF task flow, and set the Data Control Scope to isolated. This blog will show a small sample to demonstrate this. In this sample we will create a Pie and Bar using same BAM DC, such that both components use same Data control but have isolated scope.This sample can be downloaded  fromSample1.zip Set-up: Create a BAM data control using employees DO (sample) Steps: Right click on View Controller project and select "New->ADF Task Flow" Check "Create Bounded Task Flow" and give some meaningful name (ex:EmpPieTF.xml ) to the TaskFlow(TF) and click on "OK"CreateTF.bmpFrom the "Components Palette", drag and drop "View" into the task flow diagram. Give a meaningful name to the view. Double Click and Click "Ok" for  "Create New JSF Page Fragment" From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Pie" (Pie: Sales_Number and Slices: Salesperson) Repeat step 1 through 4 for another Task Flow (ex: EmpBarTF). From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Bar" (Bars :Sales_Number and X-axis : Salesperson). Open the Taskflow created in step 2. In the Structure Pane, right click on "Task Flow Definition -EmpPieTF" Click "Insert inside Task Flow Definition - EmpPieTF -> ADF Task Flow -> Data Control Scope". Click "OK"TFDCScope.bmpFor the "Data Control Scope", In the Property Inspector ->General section, change data control scope from Shared to Isolated. Repeat step 8 through 11 for the 2nd Task flow created. Now create a new jspx page example: Main.jspxDrag and drop both the Task flows (ex: "EmpPieTF" and "EmpBarTF") as regions. Surround with panel components as needed.Run the page Main.jspxMainPage.bmpNow when the page runs although both components are created using same Data control the bindings are not shared and each component will have a separate instance of the data control.

  • Central Exception Handler

    - by J-unior
    Recently I've been thinking about a general ExceptionHandler, that I could initialize once in my app context and inject it everywhere. The idea that it will have quite simple interface with just public void handle(Exception ex), and then according to exception type it should decide what to do, maybe just log it, or show an alert message to the user, or maybe kill the whole app. The question is, what is the prettiest way to write such handler without lots of instanceofs? Unfortunately googling gives me only the default exception handler for RuntimeException that was introduced in Java 5. My first idea is to create an enum, that will have Class field for exception type and it will return the appropriate execution point, for example a concrete exception handler that also implements the interface public void handle(Exception ex), but with the required casting already.

  • TFS 2010 SDK: Integrating Twitter with TFS Programmatically

    - by Tarun Arora
    Technorati Tags: Team Foundation Server 2010,TFS API,Integrate Twitter TFS,TFS Programming,ALM,TwitterSharp   Friends at ‘Twitter Sharp’ have created a wonderful .net API for twitter. With this blog post i will try to show you a basic TFS – Twitter integration scenario where i will retrieve the Team Project details programmatically and then publish these details on my twitter page. In future blogs i will be demonstrating how to create a windows service to capture the events raised by TFS and then publishing them in your social eco-system. Download Working Demo: Integrate Twitter - Tfs Programmatically   1. Setting up Twitter API Download Tweet Sharp from => https://github.com/danielcrenna/tweetsharp  Before you can start playing around with this, you will need to register an application on twitter. This is because Twitter uses the OAuth authentication protocol and will not issue an Access token unless your application is registered with them. Go to https://dev.twitter.com/ and register your application   Once you have registered your application, you will need ‘Customer Key’, ‘Customer Secret’, ‘Access Token’, ‘Access Token Secret’ 2. Connecting to Twitter using the Tweet Sharp API Create a new C# windows forms project and add reference to ‘Hammock.ClientProfile’, ‘Newtonsoft.Json’, ‘TweetSharp’ Add the following keys to the App.config (Note – The values for the keys below are in correct and if you try and connect using them then you will get an authorization failure error). Add a new class ‘TwitterProxy’ and use the following code to connect to the TwitterService (Read more about OAuthentication - http://dev.twitter.com/pages/auth) using System;using System.Collections.Generic;using System.Linq;using System.Text;using System.Configuration;using TweetSharp; namespace WindowsFormsApplication2{ public class TwitterProxy { private static string _hero; private static string _consumerKey; private static string _consumerSecret; private static string _accessToken; private static string _accessTokenSecret;  public static TwitterService ConnectToTwitter() { _consumerKey = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ConsumerKey"]; _consumerSecret = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ConsumerSecret"]; _accessToken = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AccessToken"]; _accessTokenSecret = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AccessTokenSecret"];  return new TwitterService(_consumerKey, _consumerSecret, _accessToken, _accessTokenSecret); } }} Time to Tweet! _twitterService = Proxy.TwitterProxy.ConnectToTwitter(); _twitterService.SendTweet("Hello World"); SendTweet will return the TweetStatus, If you do not get a 200 OK status that means you have failed authentication, please revisit the Access tokens. --RESPONSE: https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json HTTP/1.1 200 OK X-Transaction: 1308476106-69292-41752 X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN X-Runtime: 0.03040 X-Transaction-Mask: a6183ffa5f44ef11425211f25 Pragma: no-cache X-Access-Level: read-write X-Revision: DEV X-MID: bd8aa0abeccb6efba38bc0a391a73fab98e983ea Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate, pre-check=0, post-check=0 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8 Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2011 09:35:06 GMT Expires: Tue, 31 Mar 1981 05:00:00 GMT Last-Modified: Sun, 19 Jun 2011 09:35:06 GMT Server: hi Vary: Accept-Encoding Content-Encoding: Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100 Connection: Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked   3. Integrate with TFS In my blog post Connect to TFS Programmatically i have in depth demonstrated how to connect to TFS using the TFS API. 1: // Update the AppConfig with the URI of the Team Foundation Server you want to connect to, Make sure you have View Team Project Collection Details permissions on the server 2: private static string _myUri = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["TfsUri"]; 3: private static TwitterService _twitterService = null; 4:   5: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) 6: { 7: lblNotes.Text = string.Empty; 8:   9: try 10: { 11: StringBuilder notes = new StringBuilder(); 12:   13: _twitterService = Proxy.TwitterProxy.ConnectToTwitter(); 14:   15: _twitterService.SendTweet("Hello World"); 16:   17: TfsConfigurationServer configurationServer = 18: TfsConfigurationServerFactory.GetConfigurationServer(new Uri(_myUri)); 19:   20: CatalogNode catalogNode = configurationServer.CatalogNode; 21:   22: ReadOnlyCollection<CatalogNode> tpcNodes = catalogNode.QueryChildren( 23: new Guid[] { CatalogResourceTypes.ProjectCollection }, 24: false, CatalogQueryOptions.None); 25:   26: // tpc = Team Project Collection 27: foreach (CatalogNode tpcNode in tpcNodes) 28: { 29: Guid tpcId = new Guid(tpcNode.Resource.Properties["InstanceId"]); 30: TfsTeamProjectCollection tpc = configurationServer.GetTeamProjectCollection(tpcId); 31:   32: notes.AppendFormat("{0} Team Project Collection : {1}{0}", Environment.NewLine, tpc.Name); 33: _twitterService.SendTweet(String.Format("http://Lunartech.codeplex.com - Connecting to Team Project Collection : {0} ", tpc.Name)); 34:   35: // Get catalog of tp = 'Team Projects' for the tpc = 'Team Project Collection' 36: var tpNodes = tpcNode.QueryChildren( 37: new Guid[] { CatalogResourceTypes.TeamProject }, 38: false, CatalogQueryOptions.None); 39:   40: foreach (var p in tpNodes) 41: { 42: notes.AppendFormat("{0} Team Project : {1} - {2}{0}", Environment.NewLine, p.Resource.DisplayName,  "This is an open source project hosted on codeplex"); 43: _twitterService.SendTweet(String.Format(" Connected to Team Project: '{0}' – '{1}' ", p.Resource.DisplayName, "This is an open source project hosted on codeplex")); 44: } 45: } 46: notes.AppendFormat("{0} Updates posted on Twitter : {1} {0}", Environment.NewLine, @"http://twitter.com/lunartech1"); 47: lblNotes.Text = notes.ToString(); 48: } 49: catch (Exception ex) 50: { 51: lblError.Text = " Message : " + ex.Message + (ex.InnerException != null ? • ASP.NET C# Session Variable

    - by SAMIR BHOGAYTA
    You can make changes in the web.config. You can give the location path i.e the pages to whom u want to apply the security. Ex. 1) In first case the page can be accessed by everyone. // Allow ALL users to visit the CreatingUserAccounts.aspx // location path="CreatingUserAccounts.aspx" system.web authorization allow users="*" / /authorization /system.web /location 2) in this case only admin can access the page // Allow ADMIN users to visit the hello.aspx location path="hello.aspx" system.web authorization allow roles="ADMIN' / deny users="*" / /authorization /system.web /location OR On the every page you need to check the authorization according to the page logic ex: On every page call this if (session[loggeduser] !=null) { DataSet dsUser=(DataSet)session[loggeduser]; if (dsUser !=null && dsUser.Tables.Count0 && dsUser.Tables[0] !=null && dsUser.Tables[0].Rows.Count0) { if (dsUser.Table[0].Rows[0]["UserType"]=="SuperAdmin") { //your page logic here } if (dsUser.Table[0].Rows[0]["UserType"]=="Admin") { //your page logic here } } }

  • Should tests be in the same ruby file or in separeted ruby files?

  • Node Serialization in NetBeans Platform 7.0

    - by Geertjan
    Node serialization makes sense when you're not interested in the data (since that should be serialized to a database), but in the state of the application. For example, when the application restarts, you want the last selected node to automatically be selected again. That's not the kind of information you'll want to store in a database, hence node serialization is not about data serialization but about application state serialization. I've written about this topic in October 2008, here and here, but want to show how to do this again, using NetBeans Platform 7.0. Somewhere I remember reading that this can't be done anymore and that's typically the best motivation for me, i.e., to prove that it can be done after all. Anyway, in a standard POJO/Node/BeanTreeView scenario, do the following: Remove the "@ConvertAsProperties" annotation at the top of the class, which you'll find there if you used the Window Component wizard. We're not going to use property-file based serialization, but plain old java.io.Serializable  instead. In the TopComponent, assuming it is named "UserExplorerTopComponent", typically at the end of the file, add the following: @Override public Object writeReplace() { //We want to work with one selected item only //and thanks to BeanTreeView.setSelectionMode, //only one node can be selected anyway: Handle handle = NodeOp.toHandles(em.getSelectedNodes())[0]; return new ResolvableHelper(handle); } public final static class ResolvableHelper implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public Handle selectedHandle; private ResolvableHelper(Handle selectedHandle) { this.selectedHandle = selectedHandle; } public Object readResolve() { WindowManager.getDefault().invokeWhenUIReady(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { try { //Get the TopComponent: UserExplorerTopComponent tc = (UserExplorerTopComponent) WindowManager.getDefault().findTopComponent("UserExplorerTopComponent"); //Get the display text to search for: String selectedDisplayName = selectedHandle.getNode().getDisplayName(); //Get the root, which is the parent of the node we want: Node root = tc.getExplorerManager().getRootContext(); //Find the node, by passing in the root with the display text: Node selectedNode = NodeOp.findPath(root, new String[]{selectedDisplayName}); //Set the explorer manager's selected node: tc.getExplorerManager().setSelectedNodes(new Node[]{selectedNode}); } catch (PropertyVetoException ex) { Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex); } catch (IOException ex) { Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex); } } }); return null; } } Assuming you have a node named "UserNode" for a type named "User" containing a property named "type", add the bits in bold below to your "UserNode": public class UserNode extends AbstractNode implements Serializable { static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public UserNode(User key) { super(Children.LEAF); setName(key.getType()); } @Override public Handle getHandle() { return new CustomHandle(this, getName()); } public class CustomHandle implements Node.Handle { static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private AbstractNode node = null; private final String searchString; public CustomHandle(AbstractNode node, String searchString) { this.node = node; this.searchString = searchString; } @Override public Node getNode() { node.setName(searchString); return node; } } } Run the application and select one of the user nodes. Close the application. Start it up again. The user node is not automatically selected, in fact, the window does not open, and you will see this in the output: Caused: java.io.InvalidClassException: org.serialization.sample.UserNode; no valid constructor Read this article and then you'll understand the need for this class: public class BaseNode extends AbstractNode { public BaseNode() { super(Children.LEAF); } public BaseNode(Children kids) { super(kids); } public BaseNode(Children kids, Lookup lkp) { super(kids, lkp); } } Now, instead of extending AbstractNode in your UserNode, extend BaseNode. Then the first non-serializable superclass of the UserNode has an explicitly declared no-args constructor, Do the same as the above for each node in the hierarchy that needs to be serialized. If you have multiple nodes needing serialization, you can share the "CustomHandle" inner class above between all the other nodes, while all the other nodes will also need to extend BaseNode (or provide their own non-serializable super class that explicitly declares a no-args constructor). Now, when I run the application, I select a node, then I close the application, restart it, and the previously selected node is automatically selected when the application has restarted.

  • Integrating a Progress Bar into a Wizard

    - by Geertjan
    Normally, when you create a wizard, as described here, and you have your own iterator, you'll have a class signature like this: public final class MyWizardWizardIterator implements WizardDescriptor.InstantiatingIterator<WizardDescriptor> { Let's now imagine that you've got some kind of long running process your wizard needs to perform. Maybe the wizard needs to connect to something, which could take some time. Start by adding a new dependency on the Progress API, which gives you the classes that access the NetBeans Platform's progress functionality. Now all we need to do is change the class signature very slightly: public final class MyWizardWizardIterator implements WizardDescriptor.ProgressInstantiatingIterator<WizardDescriptor> { Take a look at the part of the signature above that is highlighted. I.e., use WizardDescriptor.ProgressInstantiatingIterator instead of WizardDescriptor.InstantiatingIterator. Now you will need to implement a new instantiate method, one that receives a ProgressHandle. The other instantiate method, i.e., the one that already existed, should never be accessed anymore, and so you can add an assert to that effect: @Override public Set<?> instantiate() throws IOException {     throw new AssertionError("instantiate(ProgressHandle) " //NOI18N             + "should have been called"); //NOI18N } @Override public Set instantiate(ProgressHandle ph) throws IOException {     return Collections.emptySet(); } OK. Let's now add some code to make our progress bar work: @Override public Set instantiate(ProgressHandle ph) throws IOException {     ph.start();     ph.progress("Processing...");     try {         //Simulate some long process:         Thread.sleep(2500);     } catch (InterruptedException ex) {         Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex);     }     ph.finish();     return Collections.emptySet(); } And, maybe even more impressive, you can also do this: @Override public Set instantiate(ProgressHandle ph) throws IOException {     ph.start(1000);     ph.progress("Processing...");     try {         //Simulate some long process:         ph.progress("1/4 complete...", 250);         Thread.sleep(2500);         ph.progress("1/2 complete...", 500);         Thread.sleep(5000);         ph.progress("3/4 complete...", 750);         Thread.sleep(7500);         ph.progress("Complete...", 1000);         Thread.sleep(1000);     } catch (InterruptedException ex) {         Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex);     }     ph.finish();     return Collections.emptySet(); } The screenshots above show you what you should see when the Finish button is clicked in each case.

  • Is there an antipattern to describe this method of coding?

    - by P.Brian.Mackey
    I have a codebase where the programmer tended to wrap things up in areas that don't make sense. For example, given an Error log we have you can log via ErrorLog.Log(ex, "friendly message"); He added various other means to accomplish the exact same task. E.G. SomeClass.Log(ex, "friendly message"); Which simply turns around and calls the first method. This adds levels of complexity with no added benefit. Is there an anti-pattern to describe this?

  • What almost unknown programming language of 21st century a programmer should be introduced to?

    - by bigown
    Which languages almost nobody talks about but has some interesting features or concepts? It must satisfy the following 2 criteria: It must have been created in 2000 or later. Ex.: REBOL, Squeak, Oberon, etc. are out. It can't have some fame among programmers. Ex.: Groovy, C#, Scala, Go, Clojure, D, etc are out. The language doesn't need be good or totally implemented. License or platform doesn't matter. The language needs to be new and interesting. I posted a good example of language I wanna know. If you wish TIOBE can be used as reference to measure "fame", but don't cling on it.
