  • Context migration in CUDA.NET

    I'm currently using CUDA.NET library by GASS. I need to initialize cuda arrays (actually cublas vectors, but it doesn't matters) in one CPU thread and use them in other CPU thread. But CUDA context which holding all initialized arrays and loaded functions, can be attached to only one CPU thread. There is mechanism called context migration API to detach context from one thread and attach it to another. But i don't how to properly use it in CUDA.NET.   • Using the contents of an array to set individual pixels in a Quartz bitmap context

    I have an array that contains the RGB colour values for each pixel in a 320 x 180 display. I would like to be able to set individual pixel values in the a bitmap context of the same size offscreen then display the bitmap context in a view. It appears that I have to create 1x1 rects and either put a stroke on them or a line of length 1 at the point in question. Is that correct? I'm looking for a very efficient way of getting the array data onto the graphics context as you can imagine this is going to be an image buffer that cycles at 25 frames per second and drawing in this way seems inefficient. I guess the other question is should I use OPENGL ES instead? Thoughts/best practice would be much appreciated.   • Should we retire the term "Context"?

    I'm not sure if there is a more abused term in the world of programming than "Context." A word that has a very clear meaning in the English language has somehow morphed into a hot mess in software development, where the definition where the connotation can be completely different based on what library you happen to be developing in. Tomcat uses the word context to mean the configuration of a web application. Java applets, on the other hand, use an AppletContext to define attributes of the browser and HTML tag that launched it, but the BeanContext is defined as a container. ASP.NET uses the HttpContext object as a grab bag of state - containing information about the current request / response, session, user, server, and application objects. Context Oriented Programming defines the term as "Any information which is computationally accessible may form part of the context upon which behavioral variations depend," which I translate as "anything in the world." The innards of the Windows OS uses the CONTEXT structure to define properties about the hardware environment. The .NET installation classes, however, use the InstallContext property to represent the command line arguments entered to the installation class. The above doesn't even touch how all of us non-framework developers have used the term. I've seen plenty of developers fall into the subconscious trap of "I can't think of anything else to call this class, so I'll name it 'WidgetContext.'" Do you all agree that before naming our class a "Context," we may want to first consider some more descriptive terms? "Environment", "Configuraton", and "ExecutionState" come readily to mind.

  • Entity Framework not populating context

    I'm just starting out with some entity framework exploration, I figured it was time to see what everybody was complaining about. I am running into an issue where the entities don't seem to be returning any of the object context. I generated the model from a database with three tables which link to one another. Courses Instructors CanTeach Relationships are as you would expect: a course can relate to multiple CanTeach entities and an instructor can also relate to multiple CanTeach entities. I also added an OData service to my project which also makes use of the same model. So I can run queries like from a in CanTeach where a.Instructor.FirstName == "Barry" select new { Name = a.Instructor.FirstName + " " + a.Instructor.LastName, Course = a.Course.Name} without issue against the OData endpoint using LINQPad. However when I do a simple query like public Instructor GetInstructorFromID(int ID) { return context.Instructors.Where(i => i.ID == ID).FirstOrDefault(); } The CanTeach list is empty. I know everything in EF is lazy loaded and it is possible that my context is out of scope by the time I look at the object context, however even trying to get the object context as soon as the query is run results in and empty object context. What am I doing wrong?

    I'm developing a JSF 2.0 application on Glassfish v3 and i'm trying to handle the ViewExpiredException. But whatever i do, i always get a Glassfish error report instead of my own error page. To simulate the occurrence of the VEE, i inserted the following function into my backing bean, which fires the VEE. I'm triggering this function from my JSF page through a commandLink. The Code: @Named public class PersonHome { (...) public void throwVEE() { throw new ViewExpiredException(); } } At first i tried it by simply adding an error-page to my web.xml: <error-page> <exception-type>javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException</exception-type> <location>/error.xhtml</location> </error-page> But this doesn't work, i'm not redirected to error but i'm shown the Glassfish errorpage, which shows a HTTP Status 500 page with the following content: description:The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request. exception: javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException root cause: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException:javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException root cause:javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException Next thing i tried was to write ExceptionHandlerFactory and a CustomExceptionHandler, as described in JavaServerFaces 2.0 - The Complete Reference.   • Can't make SELinux context types permanent with semanage

    I created a new folder at /modevasive to hold my mod_evasive scripts and for the Log Directory. I'm trying to change the context type to httpd_sys_content_t so Apache can write to the folder. I did semanage fcontext -a -t "httpd_sys_content_t" /modevasive to change the context and then restorecon -v /modevasive to enable the change, but restorecon didn't do anything. So I used chcon to change it manually, did the restorecon to see what would happen and it changed it back to default_t. semanage fcontext -l gives: /modevasive/ all files system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0` And looking at /etc/selinux/targeted/contexts/files/file_contexts.local gives /modevasive/ system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0 So why does restorecon keep setting it back to default_t?

  • Winxp system context menus blank after last security update

    Because of a CERT advisory of several out-of-band security updates released by MS I did a Critical Updates pass on my WinXP Pro SP3 machine. I now have the situation where it seems that all of my WinXP-generated menus come up with all items black. If I wave the cursor over the menu, the items will update as they become active (go blue) and then update correctly (to black-text-on-white-background) as they go non-active. Separators (which never get a hover event) stay black. App-level context menus seem to work fine (Firefox, OpenOffice, etc.) with the exception of Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, which both exhibit this behavior on both their context menus and on their menu bar drop down menus. I'm assuming that's true because they are all using the same library code. Thoughts? Fixes? Help!

    I read somewhere that context menu items in foobar2000 could not only be enabled/disabled, but also reordered in "Preferences: Context Menu". Perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to reorder them; I tried dragging, right-clicking and several key combinations to no avail. Am I missing something, or is this impossible (now)? (In this case I'd like to move the "Rating" item out of the Playback Statistics submenu.) I'm using foobar2000 1.1.3.

    I have a Tomcat instance running several websites. Recently I've been trying to deal with the various error messages that wind up in the Tomcat log file (catalina.out). None of the issues are affecting the websites, but all the noise is making it difficult to see actual problems. My problem is that frequently the message is being emitted by a library that is used by multiple webapps. Unless a stacktrace is included (which it often isn't) I can't tell which webapp is responsible without a lot of digging. So the question is, can I somehow configure Tomcat to include the servlet context in the log file? Or perhaps have different log files per context?

  • Editing the Microsoft Security Essentials context-menu

    As all MSE users would know, the context-menu item that it adds to Explorer is really long, with one whole sentence "Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials...". Is there a way to edit this and shorten it? I figured out the the file shellext.dll is responsible for registering the context menu. I used ResEdit to edit the DLL and changed the string table entry from Scan with ($BrandName) to Scan with MSE. But it still won't change. I've also tried de-registering the DLL and then registering it again. No luck! Any ideas? Or am I doing something wrong?

How can I set a variable in the http context so it will affect all servers? Might the lua module be able to help with this (although I'd rather have a pure nginx solution).     I have a servlet running in JBoss (4.2.2.GA and 4.3-eap) that needs to connect to an EJB to do work. I wrote some xslt to find the word, but i can't go back 3 words to set span. I have to search for context also on preceding tags, for example: <line>hello world,</line> <line>my name</line> <line>is farhad </line> <line>and i'm having</line> <line>trouble with xslt</line> so, looking for 'and', context of 3 words: <line>hello world,</line> <line>my <span class="context">name</line> <line>is farhad </line> <line><span class="word">and</span> i'm having</span></line> <line>trouble with xslt</line> with problems of overlapping, but now it's not a problem (i think i know how manage it). How can i search a word and its context? Thank you very much.
