  • Apache + mod_fcgid + perl = error 500

    - by f-aminov
Hi guys! I'm trying to setup Apache2.2 with mod_fcgid and libapache2-mod-perl2 with no luck. I've created a fcgi-bin directory in the root directory of my website and put there a test.fcgi file with the following content: #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI; print "This is test.fcgi!\n"; While trying to access it via http://www.website.dom/fcgi-bin/test.fcgi I get error 500 (Internal Server Error). Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • LDAP not showing secondary groups

    - by Sandy Dolphinaura
Currently, I have a LDAP server (running ClearOS if that makes any difference) containing a database of users. So, I went and setup LDAP on a couple of my debian VMs, using libpam-ldapd and I discovered this odd problem. My group/user mapping would show up when running getent group but the secondary groups would not show up when running id . Here is my /etc/nslcd.conf # /etc/nslcd.conf # nslcd configuration file. • supervisord launches with wrong setuid

    - by friendzis
I am trying to test a pilot system with nginx connecting to uwsgi served application controlled by supervisord running on ubuntu-server. Application is written in python with Flask in virtualenv, although I'm not sure if that is relevant. To test the system I have created a simple hello world with flask. I want nginx and uwsgi both to run as www-data user. If I launch uwsgi "manually" from root shell I can see uwsgi processes runing as appropriate user (www-data). Although, if I let supervisor launch the application something strange happens - uwsgi processes are runing under my user (friendzis). Consequently, socket file gets created under wrong user and nginx cannot communicate with my applicaion. note: the linux server runs as Hyper-V VM, under Windows Server 2008. Relevant configuration: [uwsgi] socket = /var/www/sockets/cowsay.sock chmod-socket = 666 abstract-socket = false master = true workers = 2 uid = www-data gid = www-data chdir = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay pp = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay pyhome = /var/www/cowsay module = cowsay callable = app supervisor [program:cowsay] command = /var/www/cowsay/bin/uwsgi -s /var/www/sockets/cowsay.sock -w cowsay:app directory = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay user = www-data autostart = true autorestart = true stdout_logfile = /var/www/cowsay/log/supervisor.log redirect_stderr = true stopsignal = QUIT I'm sure I'm missing some minor detail, but I'm unable to notice it. Would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Package upgrade on Ubuntu raid server and grub setup issue

    - by RecNes
I have remote Ubuntu 10.10 server running on raid system. I did package upgrade yesterday night for security reasons. During the upgrade, grub installation screen appeared and asked me which partition I wanted to install grub. Options are sda,sdb,md1 and md2. I decide to install them on both sda and sdb partitions. I wondering, was I make true decision? If machine get reboot is it can be boot up safely? • How to prevent nginx from locking files on mounted samba partition in Centos 6

    - by Bruce Kirkpatrick
I'm using nginx 1.3.8 inside a centos 6.3 virtualbox 4.2.4 virtual machine. The system is running the latest software available via yum update. The host OS is windows 7. The site files nginx is serving are on mounted samba partition, which is a folder on the host Windows system. I.e., inside linux, nginx paths are referring to /home/vhosts and this is mounted from D:\vhosts\ on windows. The samba partition is mounted as root with 777 privileges. /etc/fstab looks like this, but with real ip, username, password: //hostip/vhosts /home/vhosts cifs username=username,password=SECRETPASSWORD,uid=root,gid=root,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,rw,_netdev 0 0 I.e. linux/nginx reads from the windows share, and not the opposite. in /etc/samba/smb.conf, I have tried to disable all samba locking features, but it seems to have no effect even after rebooting the virtual machine. locking=no share modes=no oplocks = no level2 oplocks = no kernel oplocks =no I'm receiving "Access is denied" errors in Windows or linux when attempting to overwrite the javascript file in windows that has been accessed at least once with nginx. If I run "service nginx reload", the lock is removed and I'm able to save the file. That's why I think it is nginx causing the lock. The same problem occurs with directories. However, that may be a different issue not related to the use of samba. I'm using samba so that I can manage the source code outside of the virtual machine. Also note that after I run "service nginx reload", the file I'm editing is actually automatically deleted from the windows host. SOLVED: I just reviewed my nginx.conf file. It appears the "open_file_cache" feature is what is causing the lock and deleted files. When I set this option to open_file_cache off;, My problem is resolved. I will repost as the answer when it allows me to do so.

  • Mail server: can't connect via POP/IMAP

    - by MelkerOVan
I've followed this guide on setting up a mail server on my dedicated server. I've been able to send mails from the php application I'm using and the linux commandline (using telnet, php, etc). The problem is that I cannot connect to the server via IMAP/POP which I've setup using Courier. I've tried using thunderbird but it complains that the username or password is wrong. I doubt it is the username/password but I don't know how to trouble shoot this. • Custom authentication method for GDM

    - by FMC
I am trying to find a way of authenticating users on public computers through GDM, but I have a few things to be taken in account. The users do not have a login/password, they only thing they are given is a string. This string is unique and will allow us to identify them. You can see this string as a login without a password. The users must be present in a remote database The users must have the rights to login on the computer they are on at that time. A remote database would check if a booking on the computer had been set for that time by that user. Or if no booking had been made, allow to login. A default user id/home/gid has to be set to the user once logged in I have found ways to deal with most of those requirements, but not altogether. PAM looks nice to set up a custom way of checking if the user booked its computer. NSS MySQL looks nice to set up the environment. Would you know how to set up the environment by myself using a custom PAM module (using pam_python would be preferred)? Or any other method that could help me? Thanks in advance!

  • NIS user not being added to NIS group

    - by Brian
I have set up a NIS server and several NIS clients. I have a user and a group on the NIS server like so: /etc/passwd: myself:x:5000:5000:,,,:/home/myself:/bin/bash /etc/group: fishy:x:3001:otheruser,etc,myself,moreppl I imported the users and groups on the NIS client by adding +:::::: to /etc/passwd and +::: to /etc/group. I can log in to the NIS client, but when I run groups, fishy is not listed. But getent group fishy shows that it was imported correctly and lists me as a member. And if I do sudo su - myself, then suddenly groups says I am in the group! I also had nscd installed, and the groups worked correctly for a while. It seemed like after being logged in for a while, I would silently be dropped out of the group. If I restarted nscd and logged in again, then the groups worked correctly...for a while. There are no UID or GID conflicts with local users or groups. Hello I seem to be having a problem while connecting to a Ubuntu Server while connecting via ssh. When I login, I get this error. • XP Client for NFS failure dialog on startup, but drive mapping works

    - by Matt Bennett
I'm mounting an NFS share to some windows machines using the tools that come in the Services for UNIX Administration toolkit. I've set up the User Name Mapping service to use local passwd and group files. I had to manually start the User Name Mapping service, and then created an 'advanced map' from the XP machine's user to a uid that exists in on my NFS server, like so: Windows User: Matt Bennett UNIX Domain: PCNFS UNIX User: mattbennett UID: 10250 Primary: * I can map a network drive without any issues, and it correctly identifies the UID and GID to use, but when I reboot I get this message: "An error occurred while connecting to the NFS server. Make sure that the Client for NFS service has started. If the problem persists make sure Client for NFS service can communicate with User Name Mapping or PCNFS server." After dismissing the dialog, the machine finishes booting and the network drive is there in My Computer with the title "Disconnected Network Drive", but I can open it I can see the network share without a problem, and then it drops the 'disconnected' from its title. It seems like the services are starting in the wrong order or something, so the first attempt to connect fails but subsequent ones work as expected. There don't seem to be any symptoms apart from the dialog box, but obviously something's not quite right. What have I done wrong? Thanks, Matt.

  • limits.conf to set memory limits

  • mount nfs subdirectory and still apply parent directory permissions

    - by Christophe Drevet
    A NFS server exports : /export/home computers /export/cont1 computers On the filesystem, there are these permissions : $ ls -al /export/cont1 drwxr-x--- 6 root group1 4096 2010-05-04 10:57 . drwxrwxrwx 5 root root 4096 2010-05-07 14:52 .. drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4096 2010-05-06 20:33 .snapshot drwxr-xr-x 2 user1 group1 4096 2010-05-04 10:57 user1 drwxr-xr-x 2 user2 group1 4096 2010-05-04 10:57 user2 drwxr-xr-x 2 user3 group1 4096 2010-05-04 10:57 user3 So that user4, which is in not in the group1 can't access this directory and its subdirectories. Now, on its client machine, this user can do : $ sudo mount server:/export/cont1/user3 /mnt/temp and then access the directory without permissions on /export/cont1 : $ id uid=7943(user4) gid=7943(user4) groupes=1189(group4) $ ls -al /mnt/temp/ drwxr-xr-x 3 user3 group1 4096 2010-05-04 10:57 . drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2010-05-04 11:02 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 user3 group1 6 2010-05-04 10:56 README Is there a way to apply /export/cont1 permissions even if it is not mounted ? The goal is to enable users to mount /home/user3 and only access it if they can access /export/cont1 on the nfs server. Said in another way : how can I allow a machine to mount /export/cont1/user3 and still don't allow user4 to access it. Maybe NFSv4 and Kerberos can help ?

  • Online resizing of kvm guest root filesystem?

Just doing lvextend on the host and resize2fs from the guest does not seem to be enough.

  • VirtualBox problems writing to shared folders (Guest Additions installed)

    - by vincent
I am trying to setup a shared folder from the host (ubuntu 10.10) to mount on a virtualized CentOS 5.5 with Guest Additions (4.0.0) installed (Guest addition features are working ie. seamless mode etc.). I am able to successfully mount the share with: mount -t vboxsf -o rw,exec,uid=48,gid=48 sf_html /var/www/html/ (uid and guid belong to the apache user/group) the only problem is that once mounted and I try to write/create directories and files I get the following: mkdir: cannot create directory `/var/www/html/test': Protocol error I am using the proprietary version of VirtualBox version 4.0.0 r69151. Has anyone had the same problem and been able to fix it or has any idea how to potentially fix this? Another question, the reason for setting this up is this. Our production servers are on CentOS 5.5 however I am a great fan of Ubuntu and would like to develop on Ubuntu rather than CentOS. However in order to stay as close to the production environment I would like to virtualize CentOS to use a web server and use the shared folder as web root. Anyone know whether this isn't a good idea? Has anyone successfully been able to set this up? Thanks guys, your help is always much appreciated and if you need any more information please let me know.

  • Why is my filesystem being mounted read-only in linux?

    - by Tim
I am trying to set up a small linux system based on Gentoo on a VirtualBox machine, as a step towards deploying the same system onto a low-spec Single Board Computer. For some reason, my filesystem is being mounted read-only. In my /etc/fstab, I have: /dev/sda1 / ext3 defaults 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0 none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0 However, once booted /proc/mounts shows rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0 /dev/root / ext3 ro,relatime,errors=continue,barrier=0,data=writeback 0 0 proc /proc proc rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime 0 0 udev /dev tmpfs rw,nosuid,relatime,size=10240k,mode=755 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620 0 0 none /dev/shm tmpfs rw,relatime 0 0 usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,devgid=85,devmode=664 0 0 binfmt_misc /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc binfmt_misc rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime 0 0 (the above may contain errors: there's no practical way to copy and paste) The partition at /dev/hda1 is clearly being mounted OK, since I can read all the data, but it's not being mounted as described in fstab. How might I go about diagnosing / resolving this? Edit: I can remount with mount -o remount,rw / and it works as expected, except that /proc/mounts reports /dev/root mounted at / rather than /dev/sda1 as I'd expect. If I try to remount with mount -a I get mount: none already mounted or /sys busy mount: according to mtab, sysfs is already mounted on /sys Edit 2: I resolved the problem with mount -a (the same error was occuring during startup, it turned out) by changing the sysfs and proc lines to proc /proc proc [...] sysfs /sys sysfs [...] Now mount -a doesn't complain, but it doesn't result in a read-write root partition. mount -o remount / does cause the root partition to be remounted, however.

  • Dovecot unable to perform mysql query

I have been following the ISPMail tutorials on workaround.org (the 2.9 Wheezy version) and thus far everything has been working fine. • Have only read access to Samba

    - by Tahir Malik
Hi I've been struggling a lot with Samba on Centos 5.5 lately. I develop in Windows 7 and send files through scp (ant task), but it's to slow and wanted to setup thoroughly samba. After installing and following some guides I've done the following: Disable firewall (iptables) Disable SelLinux (didn't do that at the start, but didn't help either) setup my smbusers file to map my windows user to root (root = "Tahir Malik" -- works) added a current user mitco to the sambapassdb with the command smbpasswd -a mitco , because the windows user had only read access So both the users have read access to my share. Here is my smb.conf snippit: [global] workgroup = MITCO server string = Samba Server Version %v netbios name = centos ; interfaces = lo eth0 192.168.12.2/24 192.168.13.2/24 ; hosts allow = 127. 192.168.12. 192.168.13. [alf4] comment = Alfresco 4 path = /opt read only = no valid users = mitco, mitco force user = root force group = root admin users = mitco , mitco writeable = yes ; browseable = yes What also maybe important is that the /opt is only writable by root, but that shouldn't matter because I use the force user and group or admin users. The log file : [2012/09/29 07:43:44, 0] smbd/server.c:main(958) smbd version 3.0.33-3.39.el5_8 started.
