  • How to detect tab key pressing in C#?

    - by user342325
    I want to detect when tab key is pressed in a textBox and focus the next textbox in the panel. I have tried out keyPressed method and keyDown method. But when I run the program and debug those methods are not calling when the tab key is pressed. Here is my code. private void textBoxName_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.KeyCode == Keys.Tab) { textBoxUsername.Focus(); } } private void textBoxName_KeyPress(object sender, KeyPressEventArgs e) { if (e.KeyChar==(char)Keys.Tab) { textBoxUsername.Focus(); } } Please correct me.Thank you.

  • Prevent backspace button from navigating back in Sharepoint 2010 and IE

    - by Machinegon
    as a user requirement I have to disable the backspace button from navigating back in the history. I made the following piece of code //Bind back nutton to prevent escaping the page with backspace $j(document).unbind('keydown').bind('keydown', function (event) { var doPrevent = false; if (event.keyCode === 8) { if(event.target == document.body){ if(event.preventDefault()){ event.preventDefault(); } event.stopEvent(); event.returnValue = false; } } }); This is working perfectly in all the browsers except IE8/7. I cannot bind the input types as exceptions because the content editor in sharepoint allows to modify the text in div or paragraph elements etc. The solution is not working in IE8 because the event.target returns the element that is on mouseover when there's no controls that has the focus. All tips will be appreciated. Thanks!!

  • Flash Sprite looses focus on MOUSE_DOWN event

    - by John
    My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete). I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost? The exact sequence of events I get, by tracing them, as I click: [FocusEvent type="focusOut" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 relatedObject=null shiftKey=false keyCode=0] [MouseEvent type="mouseDown" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=true delta=0]) [MouseEvent type="click" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=false delta=0]

  • jquery ajax call errors in chrome onenter with no responseText

    - by wham12
    I've built a login page that uses a .ajax call to a generic c# handler (.ashx) to validate the username and password before allowing the user to log in. If you click on the login link <a href="#" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all CustomButton" onclick="goLogin();return false"> the .ajax call returns successfully and it logs the user in. I am trying to make it so the user can also just press the "enter" key from the password box: $("#pword").keydown(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { goLogin(); } }); Using Firefox, both ways work just fine and the user is logged in. With Chrome however, pressing "enter" hits the error function of my .ajax call and will not log the user in. The parameters and responses look identical through Firefox's console, as expected. What would be causing this and/or how can I debug it in Chrome?

  • Restricting numeric input javascript problem

    - by neitony
    I'm trying to figure out why my javascript code is not restricting numeric input. Here's the code below: (function(){ if(window.addEventListener) window.addEventListener("load",init,false); else if(window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload",init); function init() { var keytest = document.getElementById("keytest"); function numericinput(event) { var e = event || window.event; var key = e.charcode || e.keyCode; var regex =/^\d+\.?\d{4}$/; key = String.fromCharCode(key); if (!regex.test(key)) { alert("something"); //if(e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault(); //if(e.returnValue) e.returnValue = false; //return false; } else { //return true; alert("something else"); } } if(keytest.addEventListener) keytest.addEventListener("keypress",numericinput,false); else { keytest.onkeypress = numericinput(); } } })();

  • Can't find asp:textbox in Javascript.

    - by Andrew
    I am trying to add the onkeydown attribute to an asp:textbox. For some reason my code can't find the textbox that is inside a loginview. Am I doing something wrong? <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function() { UserName.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')"); Password.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')"); } function KeyDownHandler(btn) { if (event.keyCode == 13) { event.returnValue=false; event.cancel = true; document.getElementById(btn).click(); } } </script>

  • Using JS Methods in jQuery

    - by Wasabi
    In the following code snippet, the String.fromCharCode is used, can all JS methods be used within jQuery? Perhaps a noob question, but better to ask and prove a noob, then assume and be a fool. // Invoke setBodyClass when a key is pressed $(document).keyup(function(){ switch (String.fromCharCode(event.keyCode)){ case 'D': setBodyClass('default'); break; case 'N': setBodyClass('narrow'); break; case 'L': setBodyClass('large'); break; } });//end keyup

  • AJAX with jQuery not returning data

    - by James P
    This is my Javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $('#like').bind('keydown', function(e) { if(e.keyCode == 13) { var likeMsg = $('#like').val(); if(likeMsg) { // Send the AJAX request to like.php $.ajax({ url: 'like.php', success: function(data) { alert('Content: ' + data); } }); } } }); }); And this is my like.php file: <?php echo "It works! :)"; ?> When I press enter on the #like input, it seems the AJAX request is sent and an alert box comes up saying: Content:, but there's no data being sent back from like.php... I have checked if the file exists and if it's in the same directory and whatever and it is, so I'm pretty much clueless atm. Does anyone know what could be wrong here? Cheers.

  • jquery Troubles with binding to an element by id

    - by Alonzo
    Hi What im trying to do is that when the esc key is pressed on the text input field (id = txtSearch), some code will run. this is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#txtSearch').bind('keyup', function(e) { var characterCode; // literal character code will be stored in this variable if (e && e.which) { //if which property of event object is supported (NN4) e = e; characterCode = e.which; } else { characterCode = e.keyCode; } if (characterCode == 27) //if esc key { //do stuff } }); } It doesnt work for me. however, if i would change that line: $('#txtSearch').bind('keyup', function(e) { with: $(document).bind('keyup', function(e) { everything works. but i dont want to bind the keyup with esc to the whole document... any suggestions on how i can bind the the keyup only with the specific text search element? (or its containing div or something) Thanks!

  • jQuery Time Entry with Time Navigation Keys

    - by Rick Strahl
    So, how do you display time values in your Web applications? Displaying date AND time values in applications is lot less standardized than date display only. While date input has become fairly universal with various date picker controls available, time entry continues to be a bit of a non-standardized. In my own applications I tend to use the jQuery UI DatePicker control for date entries and it works well for that. Here's an example: The date entry portion is well defined and it makes perfect sense to have a calendar pop up so you can pick a date from a rich UI when necessary. However, time values are much less obvious when it comes to displaying a UI or even just making time entries more useful. There are a slew of time picker controls available but other than adding some visual glitz, they are not really making time entry any easier. Part of the reason for this is that time entry is usually pretty simple. Clicking on a dropdown of any sort and selecting a value from a long scrolling list tends to take more user interaction than just typing 5 characters (7 if am/pm is used). Keystrokes can make Time Entry easier Time entry maybe pretty simple, but I find that adding a few hotkeys to handle date navigation can make it much easier. Specifically it'd be nice to have keys to: Jump to the current time (Now) Increase/decrease minutes Increase/decrease hours The timeKeys jQuery PlugIn Some time ago I created a small plugin to handle this scenario. It's non-visual other than tooltip that pops up when you press ? to display the hotkeys that are available: Try it Online The keys loosely follow the ancient Quicken convention of using the first and last letters of what you're increasing decreasing (ie. H to decrease, R to increase hours and + and - for the base unit or minutes here). All navigation happens via the keystrokes shown above, so it's all non-visual, which I think is the most efficient way to deal with dates. To hook up the plug-in, start with the textbox:<input type="text" id="txtTime" name="txtTime" value="12:05 pm" title="press ? for time options" /> Note the title which might be useful to alert people using the field that additional functionality is available. To hook up the plugin code is as simple as:$("#txtTime").timeKeys(); You essentially tie the plugin to any text box control. OptionsThe syntax for timeKeys allows for an options map parameter:$(selector).timeKeys(options); Options are passed as a parameter map object which can have the following properties: timeFormatYou can pass in a format string that allows you to format the date. The default is "hh:mm t" which is US time format that shows a 12 hour clock with am/pm. Alternately you can pass in "HH:mm" which uses 24 hour time. HH, hh, mm and t are translated in the format string - you can arrange the format as you see fit. callbackYou can also specify a callback function that is called when the date value has been set. This allows you to either re-format the date or perform post processing (such as displaying highlight if it's after a certain hour for example). Here's another example that uses both options:$("#txtTime").timeKeys({ timeFormat: "HH:mm", callback: function (time) { showStatus("new time is: " + time.toString() + " " + $(this).val() ); } }); The plugin code itself is fairly simple. It hooks the keydown event and checks for the various keys that affect time navigation which is straight forward. The bulk of the code however deals with parsing the time value and formatting the output using a Time class that implements parsing, formatting and time navigation methods. Here's the code for the timeKeys jQuery plug-in:/// <reference path="jquery.js" /> /// <reference path="ww.jquery.js" /> (function ($) { $.fn.timeKeys = function (options) { /// <summary> /// Attaches a set of hotkeys to time fields /// + Add minute - subtract minute /// H Subtract Hour R Add houR /// ? Show keys /// </summary> /// <param name="options" type="object"> /// Options: /// timeFormat: "hh:mm t" by default HH:mm alternate /// callback: callback handler after time assignment /// </param> /// <example> /// var proxy = new ServiceProxy("JsonStockService.svc/"); /// proxy.invoke("GetStockQuote",{symbol:"msft"},function(quote) { alert(result.LastPrice); },onPageError); ///</example> if (this.length < 1) return this; var opt = { timeFormat: "hh:mm t", callback: null } $.extend(opt, options); return this.keydown(function (e) { var $el = $(this); var time = new Time($el.val()); //alert($(this).val() + " " + time.toString() + " " + time.date.toString()); switch (e.keyCode) { case 78: // [N]ow time = new Time(new Date()); break; case 109: case 189: // - time.addMinutes(-1); break; case 107: case 187: // + time.addMinutes(1); break; case 72: //H time.addHours(-1); break; case 82: //R time.addHours(1); break; case 191: // ? Code like this always ends up taking up more effort than the actual logic unfortunately. There are libraries out there that can handle this like datejs or even ww.jquery.js (which is what I use) but to keep the code self contained for this post the plugin doesn't rely on external code. There's one optional exception: The code as is has one dependency on ww.jquery.js  for the tooltip plugin that provides the small popup for all the hotkeys available. You can replace that code with some other mechanism to display hotkeys or simply remove it since that behavior is optional. While we're at it: A jQuery dateKeys plugIn Although date entry tends to be much better served with drop down calendars to pick dates from, often it's also easier to pick dates using a few simple hotkeys. Navigation that uses + - for days and M and H for MontH navigation, Y and R for YeaR navigation are a quick way to enter dates without having to resort to using a mouse and clicking around to what you want to find. Note that this plugin does have a dependency on ww.jquery.js for the date formatting functionality.$.fn.dateKeys = function (options) { /// <summary> /// Attaches a set of hotkeys to date 'fields' /// + Add day - subtract day /// M Subtract Month H Add montH /// Y Subtract Year R Add yeaR /// ? Show keys /// </summary> /// <param name="options" type="object"> /// Options: /// dateFormat: "MM/dd/yyyy" by default "MMM dd, yyyy /// callback: callback handler after date assignment /// </param> /// <example> /// var proxy = new ServiceProxy("JsonStockService.svc/"); /// proxy.invoke("GetStockQuote",{symbol:"msft"},function(quote) { alert(result.LastPrice); },onPageError); ///</example> if (this.length < 1) return this; var opt = { dateFormat: "MM/dd/yyyy", callback: null }; $.extend(opt, options); return this.keydown(function (e) { var $el = $(this); var d = new Date($el.val()); if (!d) d = new Date(1900, 0, 1, 1, 1); var month = d.getMonth(); var year = d.getFullYear(); var day = d.getDate(); switch (e.keyCode) { case 84: // [T]oday d = new Date(); break; case 109: case 189: d = new Date(year, month, day - 1); break; case 107: case 187: d = new Date(year, month, day + 1); break; case 77: //M d = new Date(year, month - 1, day); break; case 72: //H d = new Date(year, month + 1, day); break; case 191: // ? if (e.shiftKey) $el.tooltip("<b>T</b> Today<br/><b>+</b> add day<br /><b>-</b> subtract day<br /><b>M</b> subtract Month<br /><b>H</b> add montH<br/><b>Y</b> subtract Year<br/><b>R</b> add yeaR", 5000, { isHtml: true }); return false; default: return true; } $el.val(d.formatDate(opt.dateFormat)); if (opt.callback) // call async setTimeout(function () { opt.callback.call($el.get(0),d); }, 10); return false; }); } The logic for this plugin is similar to the timeKeys plugin, but it's a little simpler as it tries to directly parse the date value from a string via new Date(inputString). As mentioned it also uses a helper function from ww.jquery.js to format dates which removes the logic to perform date formatting manually which again reduces the size of the code. And the Key is… I've been using both of these plugins in combination with the jQuery UI datepicker for datetime values and I've found that I rarely actually pop up the date picker any more. It's just so much more efficient to use the hotkeys to navigate dates. It's still nice to have the picker around though - it provides the expected behavior for date entry. For time values however I can't justify the UI overhead of a picker that doesn't make it any easier to pick a time. Most people know how to type in a time value and if they want shortcuts keystrokes easily beat out any pop up UI. Hopefully you'll find this as useful as I have found it for my code. • Lock mouse in center of screen, and still use to move camera Unity

    - by Flotolk
    I am making a program from 1st person point of view. I would like the camera to be moved using the mouse, preferably using simple code, like from XNA var center = this.Window.ClientBounds; MouseState newState = Mouse.GetState(); if (Keyboard.GetState().IsKeyUp(Keys.Escape)) { Mouse.SetPosition((int)center.X, (int)center.Y); camera.Rotation -= (newState.X - center.X) * 0.005f; camera.UpDown += (newState.Y - center.Y) * 0.005f; } Is there any code that lets me do this in Unity, since Unity does not support XNA, I need a new library to use, and a new way to collect this input. this is also a little tougher, since I want one object to go up and down based on if you move it the mouse up and down, and another object to be the one turning left and right. I am also very concerned about clamping the mouse to the center of the screen, since you will be selecting items, and it is easiest to have a simple cross-hairs in the center of the screen for this purpose. Here is the code I am using to move right now: using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; [AddComponentMenu("Camera-Control/Mouse Look")] public class MouseLook : MonoBehaviour { public enum RotationAxes { MouseXAndY = 0, MouseX = 1, MouseY = 2 } public RotationAxes axes = RotationAxes.MouseXAndY; public float sensitivityX = 15F; public float sensitivityY = 15F; public float minimumX = -360F; public float maximumX = 360F; public float minimumY = -60F; public float maximumY = 60F; float rotationY = 0F; void Update () { if (axes == RotationAxes.MouseXAndY) { float rotationX = transform.localEulerAngles.y + Input.GetAxis("Mouse X") * sensitivityX; rotationY += Input.GetAxis("Mouse Y") * sensitivityY; rotationY = Mathf.Clamp (rotationY, minimumY, maximumY); transform.localEulerAngles = new Vector3(-rotationY, rotationX, 0); } else if (axes == RotationAxes.MouseX) { transform.Rotate(0, Input.GetAxis("Mouse X") * sensitivityX, 0); } else { rotationY += Input.GetAxis("Mouse Y") * sensitivityY; rotationY = Mathf.Clamp (rotationY, minimumY, maximumY); transform.localEulerAngles = new Vector3(-rotationY, transform.localEulerAngles.y, 0); } while (Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Space) == true) { Screen.lockCursor = true; } } void Start () { // Make the rigid body not change rotation if (GetComponent<Rigidbody>()) GetComponent<Rigidbody>().freezeRotation = true; } } This code does everything except lock the mouse to the center of the screen. Screen.lockCursor = true; does not work though, since then the camera no longer moves, and the cursor does not allow you to click anything else either.

  • Can't change color of sprites in unity

    - by Aceleeon
    I would like to create a script that targets a 2d sprite "enemy" and changes their color to red (slightly opaque red if possible) when you hit tab. I have this code from a 3d tutorial hoping the transition would work. But it does not. I only get the script to cycle the enemy tags but never changes the color of the sprite. I have the code below I'm very new to coding, and any help would be FANTASTIC! HELP! hahah. TL;DR Cant get 3d color targeting to work for 2D. Check out the c#code below using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; public class Targetting : MonoBehaviour { public List targets; public Transform selectedTarget; private Transform myTransform; // Use this for initialization void Start () { targets = new List(); selectedTarget = null; myTransform = transform; AddAllEnemies(); } public void AddAllEnemies() { GameObject[] go = GameObject.FindGameObjectsWithTag("Enemy"); foreach(GameObject enemy in go) AddTarget(enemy.transform); } public void AddTarget(Transform enemy) { targets.Add(enemy); } private void SortTargetsByDistance() { targets.Sort(delegate(Transform t1,Transform t2) { return Vector3.Distance(t1.position, myTransform.position).CompareTo(Vector3.Distance(t2.position, myTransform.position)); }); } private void TargetEnemy() { if(selectedTarget == null) { SortTargetsByDistance(); selectedTarget = targets[0]; } else { int index = targets.IndexOf(selectedTarget); if(index < targets.Count -1) { index++; } else { index = 0; } selectedTarget = targets[index]; } } private void SelectTarget() { selectedTarget.GetComponent().color = Color.red; } private void DeselectTarget() { selectedTarget.GetComponent().color = Color.blue; selectedTarget = null; } // Update is called once per frame void Update() { if(Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Tab)) { TargetEnemy(); } } }

  • Gvim on Windows 7: ALT codes not working

    - by John Sonderson
    I would like to be able to enter ALT codes in Gvim on Windows 7 as documented on the following site: Alt Codes On Windows (Windows 7 in my case), to generate a character via an ALT code you make sure that the NumLock key on your keypad is toggled on, hold down the ALT key, enter the keycode on the numeric keypad, and then release the ALT key. However this does not work in Gvim on Windows (which ignores the fact that I am pressing the ALT key and just prints to entered keypad key directly onto the screen). How can I get these keystroke combinations to work in Gvim as well? Thanks. EDIT: As the answer below points out, the way to insert non-ASCII characters for which you do not have entries on your keyboard without changing the keyboard layout is as follows: Make sure you are in insert mode, and then type CTRL-V followed by the Unicode character code of interest, for instance: CTRL-V u00E0 (generates à) CTRL-V u00C8 (generates È) CTRL-V u00E8 (generates è) CTRL-V u00E9 (generates é) CTRL-V u00EC (generates ì) CTRL-V u00F2 (generates ò) etc... See for instance http://unicode-table.com/ for a full list of Unicode character codes. The following list of Unicode characters by language may also be useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unicode_characters In some cases such as this one, though, there might be an easier way to enter special characters (see :help digraphs and :digraphs). For example, while in insert mode you may be able to type the following: CTRL-K E! (yields É) CTRL-K a' (yields á) Note that as the following page shows: http://code.google.com/p/vim/source/browse/runtime/doc/digraph.txt Gvim 7.4 contains an even wider set of default digraphs than Gvim 7.3, thus providing convenience to an even broader set of languages. Regards.

  • Convert flyout menu to respond onclick vs mouseover

    - by Scott B
    The code below creates a nifty flyout menu action on a nested list item sequence. The client has called and wants the change the default behavior in which the flyouts are triggered by mouseover, so that you have to click to trigger a flyout. Ideally, I would just like to modify this code so that you click on a small icon (plus/minus) that sits to the right of the menu item if it has child menus. Can someone give me a bit of guidance on what bits I'd need to change to accomplish this? /* a few sniffs to circumvent known browser bugs */ var sUserAgent = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); var isIE=document.all?true:false; • JSF invoke backing bean method and reRender components on ENTER key

    - by Markos Fragkakis
    Hi, I have a datatable with as search fields. I want a method on the backing bean to be invoked when ENTER key is pressed, as well as the DataTable to be re-rendered. My approach so far only works in IE 6, and 7, not in FF. This is the inputText: <h:inputText value="#{applicantProductListBean.applicantNameFilterValue}" id="applicantNameFilterValue" onkeypress="submitByEnter(event)"> </h:inputText> and this is the Javascript method I am invoking: function submitByEnter(e){ if(e.keyCode==13){ // alert("Enter was pressed"); e.returnValue=false; e.cancel=true; document.getElementById("applicantProductListForm:refreshButton").click(); } } As you can see, the Javascript method clicks on the button refresh, which exists on the page: <a4j:commandButton value="Refresh" id="refreshButton" action="#{applicantProductListBean.refreshData}" image="/images/icons/refresh48x48.gif" reRender="table, scroller"> </a4j:commandButton> The refreshData method does not return anything. As said before, this only works in IE 6 and IE 7. Does anyone know why it does not work in FF? An alternative I was considering was HotKey, which can indeed catch the event of ENTER, but it can only invoke Javascript, so it isn't appropriate. Is the proper way to do this via RichFaces or plain JSF? Cheers! UPDATE: Slightly modified the answer by BalusC, the script that works is: if (event.preventDefault) { // Firefox event.preventDefault(); } else { // IE event.returnValue = false; }

  • auto Focus (Hit Enter) Javascript function is working good in IE7 but not working in IE8

    - by James123
    Hi, I used a javascript FocusChange() in my aspx page. I have couple of controls and I need Hit enter key need to move next control based on tab index. It is working good in IE7 but not working in IE8... Please help me on this.. Thanks for your help in advance. The java script is given below. function FocusChange() { if (window.event.keyCode == 13) { var formLength = document.form1.length; // Get number of elements in the form var src = window.event.srcElement; // Gets the field having focus var currentTabIndex = src.getAttribute('tabindex'); // Gets its tabindex // scroll through all form elements and set focus in field having next tabindex for (var i = 0; i < formLength; i++) { if (document.form1.elements[i].getAttribute('tabindex') == currentTabIndex + 1) { for (var j = i; j <= formLength; j++) { if (document.form1.elements[j].disabled == false) { document.form1.elements[j].focus(); event.returnValue = false; event.cancel = true; return; } } } } } }

  • Clear form field after select for jQuery UI Autocomplete

    - by jonfhancock
    I'm developing a form, and using jQuery UI Autocomplete. When the user selects an option, I want the selection to pop into a span appended to the parent <p> tag. Then I want the field to clear rather than be populated with the selection. I have the span appearing just fine, but I can't get the field to clear. How do you cancel jQuery UI Autocomplete's default select action? Here is my code: var availableTags = ["cheese", "milk", "dairy", "meat", "vegetables", "fruit", "grains"]; $("[id^=item-tag-]").autocomplete({ source: availableTags, select: function(){ var newTag = $(this).val(); $(this).val(""); $(this).parent().append("<span>" + newTag + "<a href=\"#\">[x]</a> </span>"); } }); Simply doing $(this).val(""); doesn't work. What is maddening is that almost the exact function works fine if I ignore autocomplete, and just take action when the user types a comma as such: $('[id^=item-tag-]').keyup(function(e) { if(e.keyCode == 188) { var newTag = $(this).val().slice(0,-1); $(this).val(''); $(this).parent().append("<span>" + newTag + "<a href=\"#\">[x]</a> </span>"); } }); The real end result is to get autocomplete to work with multiple selections. If anybody has any suggestions for that, they would be welcome.

  • ASP.NET required field validator firing on focus in Firefox

    - by ren33
    I have 2 asp.net textboxes in an update panel. Both textbox controls have some javascript attached to autotab to the next field and to allow only numeric input. When I enter some data into the first field and press enter, focus shifts to the next field and the requiredfieldvalidator of the second field displays its "* required" error message, even though I've just entered the field. This is only happening in Firefox. How can I prevent the validator from firing when I first enter the textbox? edit Here's the code: <asp:TextBox ID="add_ISBN" runat="server" Columns="14" MaxLength="17" CssClass="focus" /> <asp:TextBox ID="add_Qty" runat="server" Columns="4" MaxLength="4" /> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="rfvQty" ControlToValidate="add_Qty" ErrorMessage="* required" ForeColor="Red" Display="Dynamic" EnableClientScript="true" ValidationGroup="Add" runat="server" /> In the codebehind: add_ISBN.Attributes.Add("onkeydown", "return isbnCheck(event, '" & add_Qty.ClientID & "')") And the javascript: function isbnCheck(e, id) { e = e || window.event; var key = e.which || e.keyCode if (validIsbnChars.indexOf(parseInt(key, 10)) >= 0) { return true; } else { if (key == 13) { var nextfield = document.getElementById(id); if (nextfield) nextfield.focus(); return false; } if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault(); e.returnValue = false; return false; } } The javascript allows only a valid subset of characters, and if the user presses enter, sets focus to the next field.

  • twitter bootstrap typeahead 2.0.4 ajax error

    I have the following code which definitely returns a proper data result if I use the 2.0.0 version, but for some reason bootstrap's typeahead plugin is giving me an error. I pasted it below the code sample: <input id="test" type="text" /> $('#test').typeahead({ source: function(typeahead, query) { return $.post('/Profile/searchFor', { query: query }, function(data) { return typeahead.process(data); }); } }); When I run this example I'm getting a jQuery bug that says the following: ** item is undefined matcher(item=undefined)bootst...head.js (line 104) <br/>(?)(item=undefined)bootst...head.js (line 91) <br/>f(a=function(), b=function(), c=false)jquery....min.js (line 2) <br/>lookup(event=undefined)bootst...head.js (line 90) <br/>keyup(e=Object { originalEvent=Event keyup, type="keyup", timeStamp=145718131, more...})bootst...head.js (line 198) <br/>f()jquery....min.js (line 2) <br/>add(c=Object { originalEvent=Event keyup, type="keyup", timeStamp=145718131, <br/>more...})jquery....min.js (line 3) <br/>add(a=keyup charCode=0, keyCode=70)jquery....min.js (line 3) <br/>[Break On This Error] <br/>return item.toLowerCase().indexOf(this.query.toLowerCase())** Any thoughts? ...   • Jquery button.click bug?

    - by Chris
    I have the following home-grown jquery plugin: (function($) { $.fn.defaultButton = function(button) { var field = $(this); var target = $(button); if (field.attr('type').toLowerCase() != 'text') return; field.keydown(function (e) { if ((e.which || e.keyCode) == 13) { console.log('enter'); target.click(); return false; } }); } })(jQuery); I'm using it like so: $('#SignUpForm input').defaultButton('#SignUpButton'); $('#SignUpButton').click(function(e) { console.log('click'); $.ajax({ type: 'post', url: '<%=ResolveUrl("~/WebServices/ForumService.asmx/SignUp")%>', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', dataType: 'json', data: JSON.stringify({ email: $('#SignUpEmail').val(), password: $('#SignUpPassword').val() }), success: function(msg) { $.modal.close(); } }); }); The first time, it works. The second time, nothing happens. I see enter and click the first time in the firebug log, but the second time I only see the enter message. It's almost like the button's click handler is being unregistered somehow. Any thoughts?

  • Scrolling down to next element via keypress & scrollTo plugin - jQuery

    - by lyrae
    I am using jQuery's scrollTo plugin to scroll up and down my page, using UP arrow and DOWN arrow. i have a bunch of div with class "screen", as so: <div class="screen-wrapper">...</div> What I am trying to do is, when i press UP or DOWN, the window scrolls to the next, or previous div with class of "screen". I have the keypresses taken care of. According to the plugin docs, to scroll a window, you use $.scrollTo(...); Here's the code I have: $(document).keypress(function(e){ switch (e.keyCode) { case 40: // down n = $('.screen-wrapper').next() $.scrollTo( n, 800 ); break; case 38: // up break; case 37: // left break; case 39: // right break; } }); And if it helps, here's the HTML div. I have a few of these on the page, and essentially, am trying to scroll to next one by pressing down arrow: <div class='screen-wrapper'> <div class='screen'> <div class="sections"> <ul> <li><img src="images/portfolio/sushii-1.png " /></li> <li><img src="images/portfolio/sushii-2.png" /></li> <li><img src="images/portfolio/sushii-3.png" /></li> </ul> </div> <div class="next"></div> <div class="prev"></div> </div> And also if it needed, I can provide a link where this is being used if it'll help someone get a better idea. edit And, i forgot to mention what the real question here is. The question/problem is that it won't scroll down past the first element, as seth mentioned.

  • Problem with giving focus to first element inside a container

    - by rahul
    Hi, I am just trying to cycle the focus between elements inside a particular element when the tab key is pressed. What I want to do is not to set focus to any element which is not a descendant of an element when tab is pressed from the last control inside the element. At that time the focus must be set to the first input element inside the container. I have done a sample and it its not working, and I am unable to figure out the issue. Sample can be found here The complete code is Script $(function(){ $(":input:last","#div1").bind("keydown", function(e){ if ( e.keyCode === 9 ) { var firstElem = $(":input:first","#div1"); firstElem.focus(); } }); }); CSS input.red { width: 200px; border: solid 1px red; } input { width: 200px; } HTML <input type="text" class="red" /> <div id="div1"> <input type="text" id="txt1" /> <select id="sel1"> <option>1</option> </select> <input type="text" id="txt2" /> </div> Any help would be appreciated.
