  • Why Can't I Pre-Zip Server Files?

    It's just good common sense to have your server gzip your files before they send them to users (I use Nginx) Is there anyway to save the server some overhead and pre-zip those files for the server, and if not why? For instance rather than giving the server an myscript.js and having the server zip the file and send it to the user, is there a way to create myscript.js.zip so the server doesn't have to?

  • "file not found" error while commiting

    I have a working copy, checked out from SVN repository. When i'm trying to commit, i get following error: svn: File not found: revision 57, path '/trunk/path/to/my/file/logo-mini.jpg' I've found this file in the repo and noticed, that it has only one revision - 58. I don't understand, why SVN complains about this file, when it is presented and why it points to revision 57 instead of 58 ? I've also renamed the grand-grand-grand-parent folder of this file. Possible, this is an issue ... Update Detailed error description, that i've got from Cornerstone app (Mac OS X): Description : Could not find the specified file. Suggestion : Check that the path you have specified is correct. I've tried following: updating /trunk/assets/themes directory cleaning deleting from filesytem and checking out again reverting entire /trunk/assets/themes directory to the HEAD revision. Even this does't helps. Still getting the same error. I've got no results.

  • Automatically update SVN repository on another server

    We have 2 Ubuntu web servers, one of which is our staging server (Staging) and the other is our live server (Live). Staging has our Subversion repository, as well as the latest version of our sites on it. Because the SVN server is running on Staging, I've added post-commit hook scripts so that the staging server automatically has the latest code. Easy. However, I'd like one of the repositories on Live to also stay updated. This is a repository of images, PDFs and suchlike. When a team member commits to this, I'd like it to automatically update on the live servers so it can be used in mailings, content managed pages etc. I'd add something to the post-commit to SSH across and update, but for security, we can only SSH from one server to another as user 'commandLine', whereas the 'www-data' user runs the post-commit. I'd rather not run a cron on Live to update every 5 minutes, but I can't see another way of doing it without altering all our user permissions. Any ideas?

  • kernel: journal commit I/O error

    I am having some problems with a Dell 1950 server. I am installing RHEL 4.6 along with Oracle and some other software on here. I am randomly getting an error message saying "kernel: journal commit I/O error" on my ssh session and on the monitor I have hooked up to the server I see an error scrolling by that says "EXT3-fs error (device sda5) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted." It has happened several times but never at the same point during the install. Actually, this last time the system was up and running and I was just trying to import a database into oracle. This has happened on several hard drives, so I'm pretty sure that is not the problem. This makes me think the raid controller is going bad. What do you guys think? ** UPDATE ** Pretty sure it was a bad hard drive. I threw another drive in the server and it's been running for about 48 hours with out problems.

    Hi, I'm about to perform an experimental upgrade on my CentOS 5 server. If the upgrade fails, I want to be able to back out the changes to the filesystem. This scenario seems similar to the example in Section 3.8 of the LVM HOWTO for LVM2 read-write snapshots - but the example is rather lacking in actual how-to. 1) How would I commit the changes, merging them back into the original partition? 2) How would I revert the changes, restoring the filesystem back to its original state? Should I assume that I'll need to restart several services, if not outright reboot? 3) Is it possible to snapshot only certain directories on a partition, or is it a partition-wide operation? Thanks...

    I can not solve the problem with collecting CommitItem(changes that commit), or more accurately, I have no porblem with the changed and added files BUT files that I manually deleted from the file system is not seen in CommitItem list ... And those changes can not commit to the SVN server. If I delete a file using the API, then the problem does not exist... but manually deleting ... Has anyone had a similar problem?

In some of the clients such as Tortoise, we have change dialog with a list of files that have been modified. And we can choose files for "commit". How can I extract the names/path of these files?     What command can I use to print out the commit id of HEAD? This is what I'm doing by hand: $ cat .git/HEAD ref: refs/heads/v3.3 $ cat .git/refs/heads/v3.3 6050732e725c68b83c35c873ff8808dff1c406e1 But I need a script that can reliably pipe the output of some command to a text file such that the text file contains exactly the commit id of HEAD (nothing more or less, and not just a ref). Can anyone help?

    I just switched from Eclipse to NetBeans IDE 6.8 for my PHP/Ajax development. Eclipse always showed a little hard disk symbol over the file icon for files that were in sync with the svn repository, and an asterisk for files with changes that have not been committed. Is there a way to see the commit status in NetBeans? If not, what is your preferred way of recognizing which files to commit?

    I am looking for a way to add a post-commit or pre-commit hook to my VCS that will allow me to both create and close a trac ticket in one go. The use-case is for when a bug has been found, and corrected, but a single developer who wants to make sure the project manager can see the fix has been done, when it was done and what milestone the fix has been done in. We have a default milestone in trac when creating a ticket, so reflecting that information would be good too.

If coding is required, the only language I'm able to use on a linux server is PHP. So I could write a php script to be triggered by svn.     I merged the wrong way between two branches. I then ran the following: git reset --hard HEAD^ I am now back at the previous commit (which is where I want to be). Was that the correct thing to do? The bad commit is still in the repository, is that okay or should I do something else to remove it from the repository? I have not pushed or committed anything else yet.

This doesn't seem to be an easy task, since there doesn't appear to be a way to tell git rev-list to only return children of a particular commit. Using the .. syntax won't work because it will also include the parent commits of any merge within that range. Am I missing something here?

    Hey there Stackoverflow, I got a doubt regarding pre-selecting(setSelectedIndex(index)) an item in a ListBox, Im using Spring + GWT. I got a dialog that contains a painel, this panel has a flexpanel, in which I've put a couple ListBox, this are filled up with data from my database. But this painel is for updates of an entity in my database, thus I wanted it to pre-select the current properties for this items, alowing the user to change at will. I do the filling up in the update method of the widget. I tried setting the selectedItem in the update method, but it gives me an null error. I've searched a few places and it seems that the listbox are only filled at the exact moment of the display. Thus pre-selecting would be impossible. I thought about some event, that is fired when the page is displayed. onLoad() doesnt work.. Anyone have something to help me out in here? Thx in advance, Rodrigo Dellacqua

I found this PHP port of Markdown (see function doCodeBlocks()), but I don't want to use the entire Markdown file, I just want this one function.
